- truthcommission, on 05/08/2008, -39/+202...and the real tools are Rush Limbaugh's dittoheads who heed his every command.
Who would ever take marching orders from a draft-dodger? - NinjaDolemite, on 05/08/2008, -42/+123Rush, and all his listeners, don't want what is best for our country. They don't even want what is best for themselves ( not that they even know.) They just want to hear themselves bitch. They have nothing to offer. Their entire world view is a ***** factory.
- InfamousAtheist, on 05/08/2008, -12/+57Why bother the former President when you can ask the current one?
- siszam, on 05/08/2008, -22/+64Dodging the draft is something everyone should do . Refusing to kill people is always a good thing. It's being a drug addled, Republican, nut job who spews government propaganda for a living that's unforgivable.
- bloomusa, on 05/08/2008, -17/+56And Obama is still winning despite "operation chaos" How many fake votes did Hillary Get? (the least likely to win in november) She would have been out long ago. Democrats need to realize this - and do the right thing, vote for Obama in the next few pirmaries.....Party needs to UNIFY or die in November.......
- MrTito, on 05/08/2008, -23/+60This country would be better off without Rush Limbaugh.
- MoofTheStoof, on 05/08/2008, -19/+56True, but this time he hit the nail on the head instead of the public's thumb. Wish he'd do it more often...
- DaDrake, on 05/08/2008, -12/+49And nobody mentions MoveOn.org doing this with Romney. If you don't like the system change it.
- inactive, on 05/08/2008, -21/+58He usually is but he made a good point here. Spot on Tweety.
- tillerman00, on 05/08/2008, -10/+47Did he just play hardball right then?
- inactive, on 05/08/2008, -14/+49"politician with a socialist agenda"
I'm a socialist. What is Senator Obama proposing that is "socialist?" I'd love to have a reason to vote for him. Is he planning on nationalizing an industry? Which one? I've searched his web site but I can't find a reference to him proposing any sort of nationalization of any industry. Help a socialist out here... What makes you think the Senator is a socialist? - sugarazor, on 05/08/2008, -10/+42Or Dick Cheney?
Fair is fair. - tsbicca, on 05/08/2008, -7/+36Its worth noting that neither side is innocent of these tactics. During the Michigan primaries a lot of democrats switched sides and voted for Romney in a Democrat style operation chaos. It was organized by Daily Kos since the Michigan primary didn't count for Dems but did count for Republicans.
Also can we stop with the denouncing of people as "not a true american" or "unamerican". This is the same McCarthy-esc crap the right loves to do. Yes, if someone voted to ***** up another parties nomination process its a pretty ***** move but I don't think it rises to the level of rhetorically stripping someone of their "americaness" - enki25, on 05/08/2008, -10/+36Calling Obama a socialist because he's trying to take corporate profiteering out of health care is like calling McCain a fascist because he wears an American flag on his lapel. Why don't you just call him a ***** like you know you want to. Things were so much easier when conservatives were honest about their racism.
- gobber, on 05/08/2008, -22/+48Hey,
If the Dems really care for their system, change the rules to just having closed primaries. Then again, having super delegates, why bother with the charade of a primary season - bloomusa, on 05/08/2008, -36/+58Anyone who switches parties to screw up an election is not a true American, the Democrats did not do this for McCain as stated in the last comment because they would not be able to vote for their Democratic Candidate if they were registered as Republicans. That is a fabrication, that is simply not true, if a Democrat switched parties early in the primary to vote for McCain - as you suggest they did, they would not have been able to vote for their Democratic Candidate of choice, it makes no sense. Republicans on the other hand can do this because their Primary is over.......DUH! Their side has already been chosen, by their majority... THEY ARE STUCK WITH McCAIN .........Therefore the only ones doing this are the Republicans. Shame on them! But they have failed because Obama is still winning.
- hipnerd, on 05/08/2008, -12/+34Having your politically-connected Daddy pull strings for you so that you could serve in the Air Guard in Texas instead of getting drafted to serve on the ground in Vietnam sounds a hell of a lot like draft dodging to me.
Oh, and he was AWOL for a year or two towards the end.
Serving your country is for poor people... - inactive, on 05/08/2008, -14/+36Tool that his is, he is dead on with this comment. Rush Limbaugh is belittling a fundamental American right, that indeed, many fought and died to preserve.
- Thumper13, on 05/08/2008, -14/+35Thanks Republicans. You've ruined my party and are forcing me to change my party affiliation. Can we have the Republicans back, and re-brand the current crop the Conservative party.
Rush is an ass and despite your feelings for either party, people should be ashamed of this tactic. These are the first people to wrap themselves in the flag when necessary, but piss on it to forward their agenda.
Independent here I come.
Republican (former) for Obama '08.
Yes, I put my money where my mouth is. My wife and I resisted changing party affiliation for the Oregon primary because of this type of crap. It just didn't sit well with us to change for the primary, then back again. - zooplibob, on 05/08/2008, -20/+40Umm the people crossing over for Operation Chaos aren't doing it to create "mischief." They have a completely rational political motivation to do so: extend the Democrat primary so that their candidate of choice, McCain, has a better chance of winning in the fall.
Mischief would be if they did it as a prank with no legitimate purpose. You can be pissed off that this happened to your side, but as long as people are following the rules the state party set up, you can't complain. I'm also willing to bet in the past 200 years of this country theres been much worse. - adm01, on 05/08/2008, -13/+32What is a dishonor to those who have died for America is the state of our voting system. What these people are doing may be against the spirit of voting, but its totally legal. The democratic presidential candidate will be decided not by the people, but by an elite group of people, so called superdelegates. That is the true dishonor to those who have died for this country.
- snessex, on 05/08/2008, -6/+25You just made Rush's point. It was never to get Hillary the win. It was to keep her in longer so that the Clintons would smear Obama longer.
- RebeL5K, on 05/08/2008, -3/+21I would normally be offended by such words but I can understand your frustration. Your candidate came into this race with a 40% lead over second place (Edwards) and now she lost. That's gotta sting. So go on using words you don't understand like "shill" and "disenfrachise" and keep on talking about things you've never done, like "*****".
- inactive, on 05/08/2008, -7/+22You have no place to speak as you are not wearing your American Flag pin.
- jonohull, on 05/08/2008, -3/+18Not necessarily. There CAN be legitimate threats to the country, and if you don't want to kill people, you can always carry bullets.
- pintomp3, on 05/08/2008, -9/+24dick cheney had 5 deferments and never served.
- stealthc, on 05/08/2008, -7/+21I used my vote for mischief. I voted for Ron Paul.
- aliengoods, on 05/08/2008, -6/+20The people who didn't dodge the draft and were trained to follow orders.
And thus the circle of life is complete. - whodoes, on 05/08/2008, -20/+34you'll believe whatever you have to to hold on that wonderful self-affirming worldview. I feel sorry for you.
- sugarazor, on 05/08/2008, -8/+21Yeah, that's George Bush in the Air National Guard, not Dick Cheney, who dodged. But yeah, Bush dodged too, just in a more crafty way since his dad was a congressman and we all know politician's kids don't have to serve.
- fakekevinrose, on 05/08/2008, -12/+25I thought the daily kos advocated voting for Romney one time so that the dems could face the weakest republican candidate. How come there was no moral uproar when that happened?
But when Rush pulls the same stunt = OUTRAGE - inactive, on 05/08/2008, -15/+28Hey, if patriotic Republicans really cared about basic American values, they wouldn't be trying to play games with the election process.
See how that works? - MrTito, on 05/08/2008, -3/+14I never said anything about his opinions. Nice strawman argument, but it failed.
- vind, on 05/08/2008, -3/+14It's amazing how opinion magically turns to fact on Digg!
- inactive, on 05/08/2008, -5/+16This kind of stuff is standard operating procedure in most european countries. Especially in Italy. Nobody there thinks it is an "attack on democracy" they just think it's standard politics.
Rush took advantage of the rare fact that republicans picked their candidate very early in the race and used his vast audience to ***** with the democrats. I don't see what the problem is. It happens in europe all the time, 'cuz they have real multi-party systems with 7 or 8 parties running all the time. - theviceroy, on 05/08/2008, -3/+14Hah! OK man, I ***** love Hardball and Chris Matthews -- but he goes off on his guests almost as much as Billo does, only in the other direction. Typical set-up:
MATTHEWS: Here's a question that can not be answered in any way that makes you look good. Your thoughts?
GUEST: Uhh... well, uhhm...
MATTHEWS: OMG I knew it you are just too much of a wuss, now here is my opinion of the matter... *2 minutes later* well I used up all the time for that segment, thanks for being on the show.
GUEST: Chris, I just wanted to say...
*COMMERCIAL BREAK* - inactive, on 05/08/2008, -8/+18So, what Rush is REALLY saying is that his candidate can't stand on his on merits.
What Rush is actually saying though, is "look at me! Make me feel important!". But the message should be his candidate is a failure without trying dirty tricks... - jonohull, on 05/08/2008, -1/+101/8 and 1/6 of the people who voted for Hillary from Indiana and North Carolina, respectively, said they would vote for McCain in November if it was him and Hillary.
- siggyfawn, on 05/08/2008, -15/+24You are poisoning the political system. It's sick. We have kids dying so people can claim to be a democratic, to vote for a worse candidate.
You really think this is in the spirit of democracy? You're right; they're doing it to win at all costs. Because there's a plan to poison the system, it's not mischief. You're right, it's not. It's far worse. A call for chaos? That's such a great spirit to have in the time of war. Lets cause chaos in our political system. That’s what we really want to promote.
Chris is 100% right. It's utterly appalling. If McCain can't beat Obama, maybe he shouldn't be president. They're trying to get a lesser candidate nominated, what if she won? What a great service you have done your country.
10,000s of Americans have died for your voting right. Treat it with a little more respect. I'm sure Iran, China, would love Rush to create all sorts of chaos in our country. Have you looked the economy lately? We have enough chaos.
This isn't a joke. People "gaming" the system should lose their right to vote. It's not a joke. Maybe those people should serve a tour of duty in Iraq, then come back and play games with their vote. Your country ranks above your party. Period. This is why America is so messed up. The win at all costs, bend the rules, cause chaos, hurt the country but as long as your side wins, it's okay.
People should have enough respect for the political process to hope for the best democrat to win, and then let the country decide who the best president is. Wouldn't it be great if Rush could cause enough chaos to get a mentally retarded 8th graded nominated for the democrats. That would be great for the country.
Voting for someone you don't believe it, you actually believe they'd be WORSE for the post. That's a great moral stance to take. That's what it is to be American? I'm sure the founding fathers would be overjoyed at operation chaos.
You are Americans #1, loyal to your country #1. Not a political party. Once people start realizing that we’ll be a lot b better off. It’s not about winning. It’s about fixing our country, and giving our children a better place to live in the future.
Operation Chaos is tantamount to treason in my books. If China funded 80-100 Americans to do the same, rally people to cause chaos during an election, they’d all be thrown in jail. But because it’s an American trying to cause chaos in our political system, it’s acceptable?
For everyone who misused their power of vote, who poisoned our democracy, you will have to live with this for a very long time. You’re an embarrassment to Americans. It’s a slap in the face of family’s whose sons and draughts have died defending this country, and lets all hope your goal of “chaos” in American does not succeed. - enki25, on 05/08/2008, -3/+12They want somebody on their "team" to be president. This is why 30% of North Carolina and Indiana Republican primary voters chose Romney or Huckabee yesterday. Most Republicans base their political decisions on one piece of information: Democrats are them, Republicans are us.
- GiggleStick, on 05/08/2008, -2/+11Well, I don't think McCain is really Rush's candidate. He's not exactly a fan of him. He just thinks the alternatives are exceedingly worse.
- brufleth, on 05/08/2008, -3/+12He is suggesting that you vote for Hillary because she is the weaker candidate. He knows McCain has a better shot against Hillary than Obama. This isn't rocket science.
- SuppliesGuys, on 05/08/2008, -0/+8wrongo. Don't argue your opponent's viewpoint without knowing it first.
Rush doesn't believe Hillary will be the nominee, and he's said as much. He just didn't want Obama going into the general with locomotive-like steam as a messianic Democratic candidate. Mission accomplished, thank you Mr. Jeremy Wright and Mrs. HRC. - JaronDiggGuy, on 05/08/2008, -3/+11You have 10 seconds to define the word 'shill' without consulting a dictionary.
Since it can't be proven you didn't, I should just tell you that I'm calling into question your grasp on the meaning of the words you use, you parrot. - HeDiggMe, on 05/08/2008, -24/+32Dugg for the split screen with milf-hottie Michelle Bernard.
- einrobstein, on 05/08/2008, -2/+10Dugg for eloquence.
- makes, on 05/08/2008, -4/+12chico is talking about limbaugh, he came out earlier today saying to vote for barack instead of clinton now
- SteveIsTheDude, on 05/08/2008, -4/+12Yes, "how typical"... you sound like a douche....
- GiggleStick, on 05/08/2008, -0/+8Not only that, but if it's not working then why is everyone up in arms about it. The truth is, it is working to a degree, the amount is arguable though. The Democratic party would do it's self a favor if it stopped asking whether this tactic is ethical, and start asking "why does this tactic work?" What is it about their politics that can be a disaster for their party if 2 candidates are in the running until the convention. Isn't that when the nominee is supposed to be picked?
