- smackywentz, on 10/10/2007, -6/+24For those of you who missed the interview... here is a brief synopsis:
Larry King: What do you have to say for yourself?
Dick Cheney: Meh, ***** you. - glitch47, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19Phrase I'm sick of: "embolden our enemies".
They're already trying to kill us. What are they going to do if their emboldened? Double-kill us? - tobdubois, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16The diggers *are* the mods. I swear you people want everything controlled and candy coated.
- keysersoze1, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18How about not reading the stories that you think are dupes. O wait, i forgot the universe revolves around you.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16Dick Cheney is a traitor, his words are poison.
- Apokalyps2547, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Don't the vast majority of our allies IN Iraq want us OUT? I fail to see how talk of leaving could be "unnerving" to them. It seems that talk of staying indefinitely would trouble them more!
- 98psuAE, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10What exactly is inaccurate about an actual video clip of Cheney saying he agreed with the letter? So that wasn't actually Cheney in the video?
- 98psuAE, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9"If we do stop fighting Islam will that mean they will stop fighting us?"
So you really think we are fighting Islam, the religion? Wow... - FredoBerfil, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12***** Dick Cheney.
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8i agree. rupert murdoch should buy digg so we can have some old fashioned "fair and balance" around here.
- SzaszMan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Verifiable facts are notorious for left-wing bias.
- SzaszMan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8In case you hadn't noticed, the country has already been ruined. At this point things will only improve after we leave.
- PATSCRU, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8there are no mods i swear.
besides, stories get dugg twice cause there's vampires on digg who only go on the site from 2 am to 5am, myself included (shh) - bushwakko, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I love how premature withdrawal shouldn't be talked about, and they decide what is premature.
- MrSalty, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7"Anti freedom libs"? Are you ***** kidding me? Get a grip, pal. If you think liberals are against freedom because we're against fighting a war in a country that didn't pose any threat to us doesn't mean we're anti-freedom. It means we think we should be fighting the war where it should have been fought.
Being opposed to the war in Iraq isn't a liberal position any more, by the way. The majority of the country, including conservatives, oppose the war in Iraq.
And ***** Al Jazeera, too. Our foreign policy and actions should be governed by what is right for the United States, not on what some foreign-owned news channel (Al Jazeera or Fox News) has to say on the matter. - SzaszMan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Oh shut up, stupid.
- iamlutheran, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7You got that right. Bush and Cheney, one day, will pay for their crimes against the American people and the people of Iraq.
- pmuschi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I agree. It should be changed to "embiggen our enemies."
- SzaszMan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6"Winning"? WTF is "winning"? There is no "winning". Thanks for your simplistic aphorisms, but your language isn't even comporting with reality: Saddam is long gone, there were no WMDs (because we were lied to about it), and we can't slaughter our way into a Jeffersonian democracy. We have no more troops to send anyways. We've already lost, thanks to your brilliant *****-in-chief.
"Winning." Idiotic. We lost about five years ago, all the neocons and their massive spin machine are doing is preventing reality from catching up with us, you *****. - shawnbttu, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7The man has had 482 heart attacks and not ONE can kill him? I mean seriously, come on now. Somewhere down there, way down there in the pitfires of hell, someone must really like him. Im guessing that that someone's name begins and ends with Satan
- khail250, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Anyone notice Cheney was not at the studio with Larry King?? Why? cause he would get booed off for all the ***** he is going to say!!
- yodaj007, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4moo
- dp1140a, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4And neither is Christianity a religion. Remember that Christianity started as a political and moral philosophy. Or Judaism. Or Buddhism. Or any of the other world religions. So what exactly qualifies as a religion?
- Verros, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I fail to see how that article was inaccurate, everything in there was perfectly verifiable. The only thing in there that was misleading was Cheney's response to the question. He made it sound like Edelman was denying Sen. Clinton access based on the premise of not disclosing operational details to congress for security reasons, when in fact Edelman was refusing to do so because he felt it would embolden our enemies and unnerve our allies.
- FloppyLlamaDigg, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Yeah, that video was clearly photoshopped.
- MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3*VideoShopped*
- FredoBerfil, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Apparently what qualifies as a religion is whatever the US says qualifies as a religion.
- MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Hypocrisy. It's what's for dinner.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4All this talk of 'emboldening the enemy' is hilarious because it assumes that ANYONE has the power to just change the will of a populace based on a soundbite.
Oh, the Bush Admin is pretty used to being able to do that, aren't they?
The pieces are pretty simple to put together if you have half a brain. Develop 'Opposing View' Soundbite for everything that is easy to digest, making it appear like every single issue in the world is 2 sided, and your side is one of those sides.
Sounds like a great formula for the retention of power to me! - MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+31985?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_King_Live - kedohmen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3"Rarra Ra ra ra, Iraq War, ra ra ra, Wrong, rarrara....Rarara, Iran Though, rarara ra, we're right, Rarrara...."
- HarryBauzonia, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5It highlights the problems of a true democracy vs. a representative republic quite well, doesn't it?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3We should have left it in ruins to begin with. Why is it the responsibility of American taxpayers and soldiers to sacrifice to rebuild Iraq?
- joebob, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Is it anything like I imagine, with Cheney in a pillow fort on one side of the room declaring it headquarters of his 4th branch?
- jgrossma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Because it wasn't in ruins when we got there
- mrfunktastic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1TPOCS, you are DUGG.
Here's a rant I assembled as boilerplate whenever right -v- left BS clouds the issues.
One of the best political tricks there is: the imaginary concept that there is a "right" and a "left". This is false thinking and an excellent illusion that hides the real story.
In truth, there are some very very wealthy people who wish to (a) remain wealthy and (b) become more wealthy. The tend to identify themselves on "the right". Their sole agenda is money, and the power to maintain it and acquire more.
"The Left" is everybody else. A huge spectrum of people with all sorts of hopes and ideals, so many agendas that the tapestry becomes blurry. Nobody wants a "nanny-state" but most people want to do better by their family, their neighbors, their tribe, their country, and their planet. This is "The Left", and we don't all agree because we don't have the simple agenda of money and power. We have a huge spectrum of issues and can't focus.
"Republican -vs- Democrat" is an excellent illusion that we have a choice. In reality you have to be supremely wealthy to get to the highest ranks of office.
In the end, we just have to try and choose the rich person that we think has a soul and won't ***** us all up. That's the choice we get.
One of the most interesting ironies of this illusion is how many people who have no chance of ever being wealthy subscribe to it. Keeping a huge portion of the population marginalized with no access to real money, education and opportunities feeds it. - Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1im suprised you actually bother to post this thinkprogress crap any more.
- mrfunktastic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dick Cheney is Skynet and only appears virtually.
- gropo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3A good synopsis on Mr. Ledeen
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/11/5/4464/23607 - illinois68, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda."
Hmmm... "Premature and public discussion of the impeachment of Dick Cheney (or George W. Bush or Alberto Gonzales) reinforces enemy propaganda." I think that is what he really meant to say. Slick Dick pulls a twisty to reinvent the truth and spread fear. There's more gonorrhea than truth coming from Dick's orifice. - shawnfassett, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Why isn't Michael Ledeen in jail???
- MrSalty, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Since when has Larry King had a studio audience?
- jason469, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I don't see how we can withdraw, I believe the more we talk about it, the more the enemy will back down and wait, we will then think everything is "stable" and we will withdraw and that is when the enemy will come out full force.
I do believe we need an alternative strategy, but I also think it would be wrong of if we just left that country in ruins. - zorroplata, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Let me see. Hillary asks for the contingency plan that the military has for pulling out of Iraq so that she can put it on TV to PROVE that the military knows that we are defeated and is ready to pull out. OR, if they don't have such a plan, then she can Trumpet on TV that the military is so clueless that they don't even have a plan for withdrawal. In reply, the military says that of course they have a plan but it would be very bad to give the terrorists propoganda that they can use to PROVE that we are defeated. Yes, I can fully understand why those who want to prove that we are defeated would be upset. Very reasonable.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/10/2007, -0/+05 minutes alone......
- scottmillerinva, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Sure if by improve you mean mass genocide. We're talking about going into Dar-fur to eliminate a crisis we didn't create. But you want to leave Iraq because of one we did create... Nice.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Geekee: do you really think most these people commenting in these Cheney hate fests give a damn about victory?
- dp1140a, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Good points for the most part but a few corrections: First our foreign policy and actions should be governed by what is right for the people of the United States, and, as the so called "Leader of the Free World", we must also take into account the good of the people of the world in general. It is our myopic, arrogant and selfish views of Foreign Policy, in that we only considered the good of the US, that got us into this ***** mess in the first place. Yes we were attacked by a bunch of extremists, but there is and has been a lot of worldwide anger and hatred of the US for quite some time. Funny how people get pissed off when you only consider your own self interests at the expense of theirs?
