- TheClayEmpire, on 06/28/2008, -16/+5I would like to get Charles Barkley on one of my Radio shows. I think he should go to www.NBRA.info . I understand his point about being judge mental but, he is painting us Conservative Republicans with a mighty broad brush. I know better then that. Those in the Grizzly Groundswell do not reflect the deception Barkley is falling for with the Democrat Party. I use to look up to Barkley as a conservative. I still think he is, but he has been deceived. I would love to talk with him.
- Bamont, on 06/28/2008, -2/+3You know, I used to be very much like Barkley. For a long time, before I stopped to consider what it meant to be an American, I felt that I was both a Conservative and a christian. Now, I'm happy to say that I'm neither. It's easy to say that the majority of conservatives are christians - there doesn't need to be any definitive proof backing that up, because you can logically look at their choice of policies and realize where most of them sway.
Being told that you don't have the right as a woman to make a choice with your body is nobody's place. We aren't in feudal or medieval times. Saying that gay people don't have the same rights as straight people is discrimination, and the main argument for it is based off of a religious definition behind what marriage is. Who are christians to define marriage? Are they the first organization to declare, name, and define marriage? No, no they aren't.
I don't really consider myself a democrat, but I do feel the same way as Barkley does. I refuse to vote for a conservative at this point (unless it was a TRUE conservative like RP) - and will shy away from the conservative party until they start coming up with policies that aren't based on a book of morals that they only quote when it suits their agendas.

- onyxcoltrane, on 06/28/2008, -5/+15Way to go Charles.
- alapoet, on 06/28/2008, -4/+12You go, Charles! Gotta represent for my Auburn homie.
It would be great if Barkley does run for governor -- especially as his likely (arch conservative) opponent would be nut job Troy King, currently the Attorney General of Alabama:

- Tangaroa, on 06/28/2008, -1/+6I was going to say "isn't this guy a Republican?" but it looks like he defected: “I was a Republican until they lost their minds.”

As for the topic, today's conservative Christians sure don't support the traditional Christian agenda of government welfare, pacifism, gun control, rehabilitation of prisoners instead of punishing them, showing kindness and friendship to society's underclasses (particularly homosexuals), and so on. It is amazing how much the religion has changed in the past two generations. - HCviolence, on 06/29/2008, -1/+6Barkley tends to speak out on ridiculous events with a unusual clarity.
- OpCzar, on 06/29/2008, -2/+5Way to judge the judgers...

- fadeout, on 06/29/2008, -0/+4"They should read the part of the bible, they should not judge other people."
Coming from a white southerner, Governor Barkley of Alabama (D) couldn't come soon enough. - sgiffy, on 06/29/2008, -1/+5The gospels, and the rest of the bible for that matter, are schizophrenic enough that one can pretty much justify any position one wants.
- btschul, on 06/29/2008, -2/+1Black guy voting for Obama. Front page news. You don't like republican values so you are automatically a democrat? Check out Bob Barr or something. Don't just go with the crowd.
- physicx, on 06/29/2008, -1/+1Charles said it right on.
- Pillage, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1Why Alabama?
