- PHiZ187, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1The article isn't really clear on why these rules exist. The first thing to understand is that this applies to things paid for with taxpayer money. There is a distinct separation between funds used for your congressional responsibilities and for campaigning. It also seems that they have this stupid notion that if a congressperson posts a video on youtube, and advertising appears next to it, it would be mistaken for the candidate endorsing the advertising. I know it sounds stupid, this is definitely a silly throwback and a classic example of rules/guidelines not keeping up with technology.

How about he tweets, "Impeaching bush ftw!" and ***** get on it instead of worrying about breaking arcane rules that the leader of Congress has broken multiple times.
