- sega01, on 07/29/2008, -7/+41I heard about Ron Paul from Digg. So many people loved him on Digg that I thought he probably wasn't that great. Since then, I've done my research and have read his Revoluion: A Manifesto book, and think that he is exactly what America needs. He is the boldest, most open-minded, and most intelligent politician I know.
- CoolHandLuke70, on 07/29/2008, -8/+36I have to say that Aaron Russo's film "Freedom To Fascism" made me fully aware of the type of individual that Ron Paul is. RIP Aaron! Thanks for your part! Aaron and Ron Paul are true American heros!

- AudioPhotograph, on 07/29/2008, -6/+31I saw an old pamphlet of Ron Paul's '88 campaign as a Libertarian candidate that my dad had in a box from a long time ago. I asked my dad about it and that when I started getting interested into politics. This was about 7-8 years ago.
- Jimmyb207, on 07/29/2008, -7/+30"88 campaign. Unfortunately, I was still asleep back then and believed the only viable parties were Repubs and democraps. I have since woken up and realize now they are both made by the same corporation. Ron Paul, although he has an R after his name, is not to be lumped in with the rest of those BOZOS. He is above and way beyond anyone that has been offered as Presidential candidate. It's to bad people couldn't see that if the corporate media was blacking him out, it wasn't because he would be a bad president. It was because he was the best man that the PEOPLE of America could ever hope for. Ron Paul would have transfered the power and control of Government back to the people. Corporate America will have NOTHING to do with that. So they gave us Mcnuts and NWObama........and they're great candidates, 'case the TV said so.
- salinaspaul, on 07/29/2008, -5/+27I first saw his name in print in one of Devvy Kidd's commentaries, from back in the 2004 election season. She mentioned getting every stinkin' congressman out of office, except for Ron Paul and maybe Tom Tancredo. He caught my attention because his district is right next door to the one in which I grew up. When I heard he was running, that was it for me!

- inactive, on 07/29/2008, -8/+28After years of getting the run around... endless physical therapy and drugs, Nooo not drugs!
Not the kind of 'drugs' that help people with chronic physical pain,
Not the kind of drugs that help people lead normal lives..
Before I rant on here is what Doctor Ron Paul says and what led me to him.
CONGRESSMAN RON PAUL, M.D. says:
"The War on Drugs is a War on Doctors." Dr. Paul states that applying federal statutes intended for drug dealers, "prosecutors are waging a senseless war on doctors." The victims of this war he says, are not only doctors - but their un-treated and under-treated patients in pain.
It is UNBELIEVABLE what hoops doctor's and patients must go through thanks to the war on drugs, the DEA and our helpful government.
Should you be lucky enough to find a compassionate Dr. he /she may lose their licence
fined and turned into a criminal.
I live in Pain as many do because I refuse to jump through endless costly hoops..I kid U not.

After a lot of research on Dr.Ron Paul, he has hit the nail on the head in so many subjects
that for the first time in my life I see a politician worth keeping.
Lets keep this one!

- AndyWhite, on 07/29/2008, -9/+28Me too. Freedom to Fascism is where I first saw Ron Paul.
- Meekus, on 07/29/2008, -6/+25digg.com. I kept seeing this guy's name all over the place and thought whats with this fascination of Ron Paul. I finally gave in and watched what he had to say.
- bradspangler, on 07/29/2008, -5/+24In my case, that would have been the fall of 1990 -- when I first started getting involved with the local Libertarian Party group here in Kansas City. When discussing potential 1992 LP presiential nominees, the Ron Paul '88 campaign and leftover campaign materials were used for comparison.
I believe the first time I saw him other than in a still photograph would have *possibly* been *if* he were interviewed during the C-SPAN coverage of the 1991 LP convention in Chicago. I want to say that's the case, but when I try to think back to it the mental visual I get is of an appearance I'm actually pretty sure he made during the c-SPAN coverage of the 1993 Libertarian national convention in Salt Lake City.
The first pop culture reference to Ron Paul that I ever saw was a billboard for the '88 Ron Paul Libertarian presidential campaign in Richard Linklater's 1991 movie "Slacker":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slacker_%28film%29
While easy to overlook, it reinforces some later dialogue in which an old anarchist scoffs at Libertarian Party members (generally) and reminisces about the Spanish Civil War and related topics. - vbullinger, on 07/29/2008, -9/+28First time I heard about Ron Paul was when I was banging onetimer's mom and she told me all about him and how awesome she thought Ron Paul was and how she was about to disown her son for being a crack-addicted, douchy moron with horrible political opinions and a penchant for trolling.
No, really, the first time I heard about Ron Paul was when my wife made me watch a debate way back in like, May of 2007 or something, because she liked Ron Paul so much.
I didn't decide to look into Ron Paul because my wife liked him, it was because I listened to him in debates and finally found a Republican for whom I could be proud. I was really tired of apologizing for neocons when they were the ones giving us Republicans a bad name.
The more I looked at Ron Paul, the more I liked him, and the more I began to wake up to how this world was really run. - mediaspree, on 07/29/2008, -4/+22When he schooled Rudy on blowback. A fan ever since.
- inactive, on 07/29/2008, -6/+22I voted for him in 1988
- inactive, on 07/29/2008, -12/+28Back in 1978 when he was elected pope.
- ladygodiva3, on 07/29/2008, -5/+21I learned about Dr. Paul about a year ago. I live in Phoenix, AZ and I noticed signs posted all over the place saying "google Ron Paul" or "Ron Paul Revolution" and I was curious who Ron Paul was and what the Revolution part was...I thought maybe it was a new band or something.. :) I googled Ron Paul and was immediately intrigued and felt a sense of peace come over me. I'd never been into politics much--just complained about the system and who was ruining our country....then Dr. Paul started teaching me about the Constitution. I started researching and reading and reading and reading. I've donated many times over and pass out literature daily...I've talked til people think I'm nuts---all about Ron Paul and the Revolution and the Constitution. My family used to look at me with pity when I spoke of RP and what he was for....but I'm happy to say, several family members are now 100% converted. They are Ron Paul supporters. It's one person at a time...then they can tell people and maybe a few of them will get it and tell more people...It's fantastic. I just hope we have time. I am so in awe of Dr. Paul. I would trust what he says more than anyone I know.
- oconnor11, on 07/29/2008, -5/+21A cousin of mine one day said “google Ron Paul”. I thought she was wanting me to look up a preacher because she often did that. First thing I read was that people have a right to drink raw milk. I was like “huh”? Definitely wasn’t a preacher. Piqued my interest. I did more research & found he was a candidate for president. Then I read he had never accepted the Congressional Pension. WHOA, BACK UP! My fiance had a terrible child support arrearage situation that occurred years ago due to errors made by the country clerk’s office in the small county he lived in. He was eventually pushed to homelessness, sleeping under hedges, eating out of dumpsters. I met him after his dad helped get him off the street. I know an honest person when I meet one and he had been through the ringer. We did a lot of legal research to help him with his case and I learned a LOT about Washington and family court system laws that are blatantly unconstitutional. His case is so astounding, you’d hardly believe they exist. It was my fiance’s case that first opened my eyes and no matter how much we got involved with non-custodial parents’ rights groups or wrote our leaders, it seemed to go nowhere. I became very frustrated with state and federal leaders. Many parents lose children they love because the courts don’t use due process and treat non-custodial parents as criminals simply because of a divorce. During the research, I had learned about the Congressional Pension and was rightly upset about it. I didn’t feel that Congress deserved it after learning of such terrible legislation being passed and they didn’t ask us anyway. So needless to say, I took notice of Congressman Paul’s refusal to accept the pension. My first thoughts were that ok, this guy respects Americans and may be an honest politician (oxymoron). As I did more homework, I realized I could even go along with some of his issues that I had previously not agreed fully on. When using the Constitution for the reasoning, they made sense. I knew he was telling the truth because of things I had already learned and have been on the Dr. Paul bandwagon ever since.
- jaymzdean, on 07/29/2008, -6/+21I can't remember the first time I heard of Ron Paul.
Being from Texas, it seems he's always been a favorite.
I must say, however, that his refusal to pursue impeachment has caused him to fall some distance from my good graces. - inactive, on 07/29/2008, -2/+17I think its even more funny the way they get their posts mixed up.
Wonder how many this one is...must be hard for 'it' to keep track.
;) - StingingNettle, on 07/29/2008, -7/+22Back in 2002, when I was researching how our banking system worked and started reading about Austrian economics. I liked him right from the start.
- Vali585, on 07/29/2008, -4/+19Quote by Dr. Paul, "Racism is a defect of the heart."
Anyone with this kind of insight could hardly be called racist.
Individuals have rights, not groups.
I saw him back in Feb. 07 in the first republican debate. Genius!
Did extensive research, read his books, I was hooked. :) - Jeezopete, on 07/29/2008, -3/+18He had me at "I am the Champion of the Constitution! " I first saw him on the debates in December! My husband voted for him in 88 and he said "listen to Ron Paul" and I was immediately struck by his honesty and courage to speak the truth!! A true statesman like Dr Paul only comes once in a lifetime...if you are lucky!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J968pFbxf-E - beebelo, on 07/29/2008, -4/+19I had the same thought. Notice how they tend to post together, and use the same attack mode and terminology.
- Moonkeeper, on 07/29/2008, -5/+19In every election with every candidate you can find an offensive group that supports them. For example, in 2004 the Nazi Party endorsed John Kerry while the KKK voted an overwhelming majority for Bush.
- GhostyBoy, on 07/29/2008, -6/+20Alex Jones told me about Ron Paul.
- Moonkeeper, on 07/29/2008, -7/+21As a Ron Paul supporter, I would like to request that Ron Paul supporters digg UP Onetimer's last post showing a link to Paul's newsletter. I had never had the chance to read the newsletter prior to the post and am glad I did. Those that are more concerned with blindly being against Paul for not supporting nation-building have the habit of clinging to anything said by anybody that could remotely sound bad about Ron Paul. The quotes from the newsletter cited by articles ad-nauseum require that you simply read those quotes and nothing else in the article. Reading the entire article in its context will show that the newsletter was speaking out against establishment, government welfare, and the lack of an individualist mentality.
edit: the post of Onetimer's that I want Dugg up is in the responses section to his post made around 10:25 am - kemp34, on 07/29/2008, -8/+22I first heard about Paul in about 2002 via my studies on the investment markets, monetary policy and other related issues. He was a very rare politician talking sense on these subjects.
- Moonkeeper, on 07/29/2008, -6/+20First place you heard about him......
"Could it have been when Alex Jones kept promoting him?"
You're and Alex Jones fan? You must be if you heard about Ron Paul when, and I'll quote you "Alex Jones kept promoting him."
"It might have been I saw that StormFront and David Duke had endorsed him."
...and you're a Stormfront and David Duke fan? Again, in order to have heard about Ron Paul from Stormfront and David Duke you must be fan of them.
One thing I have found funny about those that are against Paul is their willingness to believe people that say things that work against Paul, despite the fact that the source is someone that they would not believe in any other situation. - Habit4ming, on 07/29/2008, -3/+17I first heard of Ron Paul last year, when I was constantly writing Congress and the FDA over the FDA's ludicrous reasoning that they have the right to determine if I can take vitamins and minerals! The FDA works hand-in-hand with Big Pharma, the very agencies they are supposed to oversee! How do you spell conflict-of-interest? Anyway, I would like to share this with all Americans: McCain is currently breaking campaign finance laws, Keating 5 involvement, etc.
Obama made 2007 Judicial Watch's Top 10 Most Corrupt Politicans List (actually most of the candidates running this year were on that list: Rudy, Huck, Hillary, etc.)...If you vote for corruption, what are you gonna get? More corruption! You are not going to get any change. Until we Americans WISE UP and only vote for DECENT candidates, then our Country is going to continue on it's current downward spiral. I would love again to go back to the days when we were all so proud to be Americans, wouldn't you? Oh I forgot, Ron Paul is an expert on economics, too. - inactive, on 07/29/2008, -5/+18Don't remember. On the internet somewhere. The fact that some very sound ideas were being kept out of the public eye did it.
- radiofriendly, on 07/30/2008, -2/+14Let's see, I was at work and I saw him being interviewed on C-SPAN I guess it was when he was officially announcing his run. I've never heard someone in a position of power - whose whole goal was the limitation of arbitrary authority...You might say "the Rule of Law" not the Rule of men. Even if you disagree on a particular issue---at least I knew where Ron Paul was coming from. He had a principle that all of his logic flowed from. My life has never been the same since...just now, in a few days I'm taking a job with a conservative group in Washington. It's a little secret victory that Ron Paul folks are taking over lots of little organizations. Go Liberty Lovers! - join the "campaign for liberty" - just google that...
- Hangly, on 07/29/2008, -3/+151998. I was a regular reader of LewRockwell.com, and Dr. Paul was a regular contributor.
- inactive, on 07/29/2008, -3/+15Met Ron Paul in Kentucky, he signed his book for me..He will always be a hero in mine. :)
- V3n0M, on 07/29/2008, -3/+15Me too. My brother sent me a youtube link of the question whether or not he would give Bill Clinton an office.
paraphrase: "I voted to impeach him, I'm not going to give him a job." he laughed.
I thought, haha, this guy is kind of cool. Then I read his wikipedia page to find out more about him. The 3rd paragraph blew me away - I read the whole page and was hooked.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_paul - inactive, on 07/29/2008, -6/+18Ya know its a sad and hateful individual that has to create more names
just to digg himself up!
Pajeff and sportsstar are either the same idiot or a two headed troll. - inactive, on 07/29/2008, -8/+19You deserve a gold star for that first paragraph vbullinger, lol ;)
- wishninja, on 07/29/2008, -1/+12odd enough they had an interactive quiz on a Dish Network menu that asked you all of these questions and what issues are important. I took the quiz and Ron Paul won. So I started reading about him. I still remember it was Paul, Gravel, Dennis... I remember Clinton and Obama being down toward the bottom with McCain and the Ghoul.
- kemp34, on 07/29/2008, -5/+16People calling him racist are willfully spouting misinformation at this point. Willful misinformation = evil.
- Kent4jmj, on 07/29/2008, -2/+13It would be helpful to ask him why? He may have some very rational and reasoned thoughts for his action. He does on everything else.
- kemp34, on 07/29/2008, -9/+19I agree with you Ferrell, individuals like Herkimer are almost like "hate machines" that travel through digg rabidly burying and trolling while projecting their own bigotry and hatred onto others.
- inactive, on 07/29/2008, -3/+13There are three things that bother me about Dr. Paul:
1.- His refusal to impeach Bush. Kent, he might have good reasons, but he hasn't shared them. It appears that he values his Republican affiliation too much to demand a trial of George Dubya Bush.
2.- His loyalty to the Republican party that kept him from accepting the Libertarian cnadidacy. Considering that Bob Barr is polling 6%, I think that it might be reasonable to think that Paul would now be in double digits.
3.- The fact that he has not endorsed Barr. I hope that this is more of his unwise loyalty to the Republican party and not a personal thing where he feels that someone is taking the limelight that rightfully belongs to him. He didn't take nomination and he should absolutley endorse and campaign for Barr. This movement is too important to focus it all on one man, even if he is a great visionary.
By the way, I voted for Paul in 1988 - inactive, on 07/29/2008, -4/+14CNN interview, listen to Ron Paul on "letters"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u39z38xjraw - inactive, on 07/30/2008, -2/+12Thanksgiving 1976. I had invited some soldiers from Fort Carson to come to our thanksgiving dinner. They were not able to get leave for Thanksgiving so I invited them to join us.We were talking about politics and his name came up. I found out he was the one member of Congress who was not involved in the lucrative kickback called Congressional Retirement. He was the one who wanted to know what part of the Constitution allowed the federal government to be involved in the car building business. He was the only member of Congress who made sense.I have been a fan since then and have contributed to his campaigns and voted for him in '88 and again in the caucus last year.
When I came on digg I saw jackasses claim he was racist, but I knew better. He has done more for the health care of the poor than all of the rest of Congress put together and served the poor of all races. The only thing that mattered to him was the health of the patient, not how fat their wallet was or whatever.
Since then I saw the accusations of racism completely and utterly debunked. Now I know that anyone who claims Ron Paul is a racist are just stupid moronic hateful little miscreants.
I saw in him what we need in Congress and have supported people like Murray Sabrin for Congress because they too show common sense not usually found in DC.
There are some ignorant individuals who have made outrageous claims which are completely unsupported by facts. The lamers and haters and political cowards seem to show up in Ron Paul threads because all they have is hate so they devote their time and effort into hating Ron Paul and the Patriots who agree with Ron Paul.
I have noticed that they have become fewer and fewer as time goes on because they too realized the man is what makes America great. His devotion to freedom and liberty and the Constitution have proved to all that he is a man of principle who can't be swayed by the political winds of the day.
I wish he had been elected in '88. We would not be in Iraq now because he would have been able as president to end the numerous states of National Emergency that presidents have used to usurp the Constitution and send troops into battle absent a war declaration.
I know all about the good doctor and his works and they are proof enough that the lamers and haters and political cowards are just a bunch of ignorant fools who think America is great because of all of the senseless laws passed by gutless legislators bought and paid for by the few.
Like me, he is a veteran. Like me he sees that too much government is what is wrong with America.
So, it is with the full knowledge of his past I support him and laugh at the gutless wonders on digg who claim he is anything but a good and decent American who has served and continues to serve the people in his district. I remember the lamers and haters and political cowards who claimed he would not win the primary for his seat in Congress and laugh at them every time they try to knock him because I know what kind of gutless wussies they really are.
The next time some gutless socialist derides Ron Paul just remember they have been proven wrong all down the line and they know they have been shown to be fools and that's what makes their comments today humorous.
Laugh at them.
I do. - Jimmyb207, on 07/29/2008, -3/+13Once again herk, your ass is where your head should be. your logic implies that if a nut supports a Presidential Candidate, then that Presidential Candidate must also be a nut. Ron Paul was not "tied" to any racists. That is an outright lie. There may have been racists who were "used" by the opposition in an attempt to discredit Dr. Paul, but it only fooled nitwits like you. When are you going to realize that just about all Paul supporters know the difference between antisemitism and Non pro Israel policy?? You're a ( can a person say the word "Jew" without being accused of being an anti-semite??) Zionist shill herk. It's why you flip out whenever there is a thread about Ron Paul, because he would drop Israel like a bad habit. Israel is not our friend. Especially 9-11 threads, you know the story is just getting to the good part, Israels involvement. The American people will know and they won't want to be pals with Israel anymore. Can you blame them? All you and your bury fairies have are lies. Lies and twisted logic
Oh yeah......How's that ride on the ol' downward spiral going? - V3n0M, on 07/30/2008, -0/+10I refuse to be a slave to anyone. dugg! :)
- Tess101, on 07/30/2008, -1/+11Unfortunately, I was one of the voters back in 2000 that believed Bush when he said he would be supporting a "Humble Foreign Policy". Well, after his first term I realized he was lying, and has continued to do so to the American people, and the world. I chose not to vote in 2004, there were no true conservatives running. As a true Goldwater Republican, I started doing research for this 2008 election cycle in July 2007, and my husband mentioned a man he was really impressed with, and that man was Ron Paul. I was torn between Ron Paul, and Thompson, but I quickly realized that Thompson would say whatever it took to be elected, and he didn't have to say much, also he was 100% behind a war that was no different than Vietnam, in fact worse. Ron Paul was, and is the only true Conservative Republican running in this 2008 election cycle. This man speaks the truth, this man follows the Constitution, and this man represents me. We are losing our Liberties, and Country. We are losing them because we are allowing this to happen with a fear-mongering President, and a Democratic Congress that are afraid and will not uphold our laws, and our Constitution, with the exception of Dennis Kucinich, and a few other Dems, and of course Ron Paul.
- ladygodiva3, on 07/30/2008, -0/+10I probably did...can't recall exactly where it was! There's still a rEVOLution sign in Chandler just off the 202...on a piece of plywood..hand painted..very worn, but still hanging there on a chain link fence...
- rexblade, on 07/30/2008, -2/+11"You do understand that Stormfront and scum like David Duke and Alex Jones were supporting the old fool, don't you? In fact, a great deal of his support was tied to the white supremacist and white nationalist movements. If you've read many of the comments made by some of his staunchest supporters here on Digg you would know that a great many of them are anti-Semites and supporters of groups like Hamas. Projecting the shortcomings of the Ron Paul supporters on Onetimer simply because he pointed out those shortcomings is disingenuous at best and slanderous. Clean up your own house before you start condeming others."
Um Im sure you don't see the irony in your statements as usual but to most people its pretty obvious. Ive not seen 1 post from anyone anywhere that was a pro Ron Paul statement that was also a pro "white" supremacy comment. These parallels you people draw exist only in your minds and your collective agenda to discredit anything that doesnt support more war. Its a flimsy tactic created by corrupt establishments to hide behind a religion to avoid scrutiny. This was a peaceful thread until you attack trolls showed up condemning us for our beliefs. If you don't like Ron Paul or his supporters don't come to these posts. Seems like simple logic but it always seems to elude you "people". - inactive, on 07/29/2008, -3/+12If onetimer is gonna dish it out he should expect to eat it too.
