- notque, on 10/11/2007, -22/+262He did what he said he would, where's our on air apology?
- mntalkase, on 10/11/2007, -28/+233I'm not a big fan of Michael Moore, but the man is telling the truth - CNN _did_ step into libelous territory with their statement "But no matter how much Moore fudged the facts, and he did fudge some facts…"
- neutralangel, on 10/11/2007, -31/+189I bet CNN doesn't even have the balls to respond at all. I couldn't believe how rude they were to air that BS before his interview in the first place!
- DanoTime, on 10/11/2007, -6/+111This isn't about Michael Moore or the movie "SiCKO" this is about journalism - why doesn't CNN actually do their job and investigate all the facts. Instead of throwing accusations and bias into the story, report what they found (whether it supports the movie or not) and cite the sources.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -29/+131CNN is never going to apologize. They are arrogant lie spinners and they are very good at their job. Just count the idiot viewers who tune in to watch and get their daily dose of mind-control! Millions and Millions are brain-dead.
- vexom, on 10/11/2007, -21/+110Moore asks people to demand an apology from CNN here - http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?65
You can also get the video at http://www.michaelmoore.com/ - ubuwalker31, on 10/11/2007, -14/+71I am also curious as to what facts Moore got wrong in his current and previous documentaries. Simply stating "he presents Canada as a utopian system" begs the question, because I am positive that he says no such thing in the movie. Moore has backed up his allegations with numbers and facts taken from the governments own records. I am willing to listen to evidence contrary to what Moore is saying, but simply implying that "Michael Moore fudges facts" is a fallacious argument without proof.
Aren't the American People and you diggers out there tired of these right wing blowhards making grand policy announcements without real evidence to back it up? Aren't we all tired of looking for the missing WMDs and the Niger Yellow Cake? When will we be finally fed up with being fed lie after lie? - Janus13, on 10/11/2007, -10/+66Here is the whole clip
http://digg.com/world_news/VIDEO_Michael_Moore_slams_CNN_Wolf_Blitzer_on_live_TV - reed311, on 10/11/2007, -23/+73It's already been proven that all the facts in his movie are true. If you want to believe in a different reality, that's you're business, but don't act like a jackass.
- peacebyanymeans, on 10/11/2007, -8/+52My message:
I think that you were very rude to Michael Moore when he was on your program, and, as you said you would do if he proved your facts wrong about SiCKO, you should apologize not only to Moore, but to your viewers as well for, well, "fudging the facts... and you guys did fudge some facts..." - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -11/+54If you actually took the time out to research and verify the points made in the movie, you'd see for yourself that they're dead on.
But I guess you'd have to take your head out of your ass in order to do that.
Keep in mind, this movie is slamming both sides for allowing the system to get this bad. - S3dative, on 10/11/2007, -32/+73Care to elaborate on where he's been wrong?
- Novagenesis, on 10/11/2007, -10/+49Very convincing argument
- GRANDPAMUNSTER, on 06/11/2009, -6/+44Anybody actually think any of the mainstream news stations give you ALL the news? What do you expect when all the news you get comes from 3 corporations, whose only concern is profit.
- asaturn, on 10/11/2007, -5/+43Moore never said it was a perfect system, he simply said it was a lot better than our system, and if we're really "#1" then why don't we have the same system (or better)?
- asaturn, on 10/11/2007, -13/+50compared to the US, where you wait on a list for an MRI just to find out your HMO finds it "unnecessary" ... I'd call it utopian.
- Novagenesis, on 10/11/2007, -5/+42So you claim that there's no way there could've been malicious intent?
- mikesherov, on 10/11/2007, -13/+49No, he did fudge facts.... CNN.com told you so!
/sarcasm - Yazilliclick, on 10/11/2007, -9/+44@nodonoug
He doesn't depict it as utopian in his film. He depicts it simply as better than the american one but includes the part where some canadians say they like to complain about it. He then moves on to the european systems which, if any, he depicts as utopian.
And the system here is good. Wait times are not horrendous like some like to claim mostly for propoganda purposes. I should know, I live here and have been in the system. As to pro player getting an MRI scan immediatly that's not surprising as some places allow private MRI clinics and most groups such as a pro sports team would be more than willing to pay for a scan at one to get an expensive player taken care of. That or his condition was more serious than the others which put him at the start of the list which is how our system works, doesn't go by first come with big wallet first serve. - S3dative, on 10/11/2007, -3/+36http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpKoN40K7mA
- notque, on 10/11/2007, -0/+32Wolf Blitzer did.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+33... malicious intent like trying to discredit his documentary (perhaps to push their own agenda), potentially reducing number of viewers of said documentary (causing financial harm), and attaching a stigma to anything made by Michael Moore in the future?
- bigronaldo, on 10/11/2007, -10/+37CNN can't actually be sued for libel. It would have to be proved that there was actual malice. Just because their medical correspondent feels that way, that does not mean all the CNN staff do. All I'm saying is that it would be pretty hard to claim libel against CNN regarding such a large and controversial figure, such as Michael Moore.
- SocialPoison, on 10/11/2007, -2/+29You can swap CNN with any major American news outlet and the statement still works :P
FOX?
MSNBC?
try it! It's like a game until you realize how tragic it is. - profOblivion, on 10/11/2007, -5/+31If you can prove that CNN is receiving that much money from pharma, you can indeed argue malicious intent.
- Shorties, on 10/11/2007, -9/+35Anyone got the clip that all this stuff was said in? I saw the reaction clip with Wolf and Michal Moore already I want to see the clip that was before that.
- smokecheck, on 10/11/2007, -12/+37The answer is simple- Get rid of the corruption and special interest, and follow and enforce all the previously written laws that are constitutional. Anything else would be uncivilized.
- piznut, on 10/11/2007, -1/+24They researched it since this morning at 12:19am? Really? Perhaps you didn't watch wolf blitzer last night.
- StormTrooperVII, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23its not about rude. the piece wasn't rude. that wasn't what upset moore. the problem was that it was *****. it was full of lies, stretched truths (the same thing they accused moore of) and, most importantly, libel.
- fancypantscz, on 10/11/2007, -6/+28Why do you think that all 'liberals' are the same. Why do you consider being a ***** derogatory? Why do you make fun of the way Moore looks? How old are you? Did you see Sicko? Can you make an argument as to why his movie is NOT worth seeing? It is really in your best interests to defend the private insurance companies? Do you even have a clue as to what your own best interests actually are?
The submission is about CNN getting caught spinning Sicko. The only thing spammy and ***** around here is your comment. - grr74, on 10/11/2007, -18/+40Well compared to the U.S. health care system it is utopian. And I relish the fact that there was a great uproar in Canada because of celebrities snuck in line.
- mad05963, on 10/11/2007, -8/+28Given the amount of anti-Sicko campaigning insurance companies have made, malicious intent would not be a stretch, and an investigation might prove it.
- 5urr3al5am, on 10/11/2007, -7/+27no .. you don't get it .. Micheal Moore is demanding that ALL of the CRAP that is presented on CNN be cleaned up.. not just him... and not just the ones that were caught... all of the over blown, half-truths (or no truths for that matter). he's really-really not acting in self interest.. he's above all of that...
- aryo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21yeah i'm no big fan of michael moore either, but kudos for opening people's eyes where the media failed.
his next documentary should be on big media. - fantasmacanino, on 10/11/2007, -5/+24How long did it take you to come up with that?
- darkskinfan87, on 10/11/2007, -9/+28O'Reilly would've cut off his mic after the first 10 seconds.
- brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20In the US we pay more per capita and more per GDP for health care than any other country on earth. Just because it isn't coming out of your taxes doesn't mean you aren't paying for it. The question isn't "why isn't their system the best" it is "why is ours so crappy?"
- Wolfboy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+22Libel requires malicious intent or reckless disregard for the truth.
- labmouse42, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18Deathshead1941, Your a disgrace to the conservative movement.
- twinn233, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17We're smart enough not to watch Fox News.
- mdkoch84, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21@serpi
what facts did he fudge? if you're so sure he did lie, prove it! he has already backed up all his sources, so now its your turn to back up what you said. - notque, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19Treoinmypocket's skill lies in telling you only PART of the truth and leading you to ill-informed conclusions.
He mentions that the hospital was a GOVERNMENT RUN HOSPITAL in big scary caps. What he doesn't tell you is that MICHAEL MOORE NEVER SAID IT WASN'T.
He is calling out something that wasn't relevant. Isn't important to the case.
It's simple a fact involved in the case, and he uses it as if it's some death blow to an argument when it isn't even relevant to the point. And the "for profit" insurance company DID have a role in her death in that they wouldn't approve the treatment.
I'm wasting my time, watch Moore's interview on Democracy Now! , he deals with a lot of random topics.
***** just trying to throw mud onto the discussion. - Gerz1219, on 10/11/2007, -8/+24I've never really understood this argument. Of course he leaves out what he doesn't want you to hear, because he's trying to make an argument in favor of something. He's not trying to provide an objective, unbiased study. He also knows that no matter what he says, the conservative echo chamber will counter every point he makes. Why should he do his opposition's work for them? It's not like both sides of the story aren't freely available. A journalist is supposed to do the on-the-one-hand-on-the-other hand-wringing. Michael Moore is not a journalist, he's a propagandist, and he's pretty open about it.
- labmouse42, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16You make 100k a year and take home 80k after taxes?
Hell! Who does your accounting?! - mad05963, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18wow, this is really ignorant of you. Most people's health coverage don't cover most ailments, obviously you do not have a job with benefits. Also if you had watched the film you would know that the film is not about people without health coverage, its about people like you who actually think they are covered. Actually I think you are just an idiot, who lives with their parents and is covered under their insurance and so you sdon't know what it is to get reimbursed for doctor visits, dealing with copays, or getting your HMO to actually agree that what the doctor says is what you need.
- kazamx, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19So in the US its legal to say anything at all about anyone? I understand the Parody clause, but think your talking out of your ass.
If an individual or company print something then they can be sued. Thats the Whole point of a PLC/LTD. They give the corporation a legal personality. In a court a PLC/LTD is treated as an individual and can be sued as such. - slicedoranges, on 10/11/2007, -9/+24You forgot to call him fat.
/rolls eyes - OPMT, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19"Why should I pay more in taxes, to provide free health care for those who chose to not make a salary with benefits."
You don't drive on 90% of the countries roads... WHY SHOULD YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM WITH YOUR TAXES??
You pay for the greater good. That if you one day need it, it's there, provided by you and everyone in the country, for the country. Now that's patriotism at work. - Corvidae, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15The article is from today! Is a few hours considered out of date now?
- Wolfboy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15CNN be sued? Yes. Can Michael Moore win? He would have to prove malice. Or he would have to prove reckless disregard for the truth.
