- vudicarus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Then is the logical conclusion to say that Hastert, Boehner, Shimkus and Reynolds are all Gay?
- The_Wallbanger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Jarland: I thought you said you weren't going to repond to comments. See above.
- Bhima, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16So... let me get this 'straight' The GOP is run by a fairy cabal?
Is this why they are going for the constitutional ban on same sex marriages?
or chucking out every fag in the military?
Suddenly the self defeating schizophrenic behavior of the American ruling class is starting to make sense. - The_Wallbanger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14There's no controversy. And this isn't spam. The "Digg It" button is designed to expand the digg community by bringing in outside opinions. Digg will thrive because of these two-way website relationships. I'm sorry if the community is not representing your ideals, but that's the nature of democracy.
- icontrolthesun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13This is actually pretty ironic coming from a Michele Malkin fanatic!
- sbrown123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I think that equating gay = pedophile is wrong. There is no link between a person being gay and one who likes to have sex with children. Men who rape young girls are not gay. Those who like to have sex with minors are just sick. And you can dislike the sexual preferences of gays all you want, just don't group them in with that disgusting bunch.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9My God... I'm just sitting here laughing at all this. Y'know why?
THIS is Karl Rove's "October Surprise". He's destroyed members of his own party to advance agendas before. This is all one big smokescreen so that the Reps can ram through more Constitution-destroying bills before Congress takes their election break.
Notice that this came up *right* at the same time as the media was making a big deal out of the "Detainee" bill? Now, with the media crowing about this, and this only, they can sneak MORE bills through the vote that will rape us of our Constitutional rights...and every single one of you are playing into their hands.
Wag the dog, baby. Wag the dog. - btgoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Well we are off topic aren't we...
ok.. back to the subject...
To suggest that a small minority, one that is almost constantly under attack, both emotional and sometimes physical, would seek to hide the questionable behavior of one of their "own" from the majority that persecutes them.. yeah that is hard to imagine...
Much like the former Governor of New Jersey, Foley is guilty of using his power to control people. His sexuality has nothing to do with it, but to illustrate why others would want to cover it up, it has become the focus of this debate. He should resign, not because he is gay (which he is) or because he is a pedophile (which he is not), he should resign because he used his power and authority in a manner that was very wrong.
But that is just my opinion... and we can still have them here.... - jonnyeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Gay Republicans = Log Cabin Republicans
http://www.logcabin.org/
You don't have to agree with all the stances of a party to be a member. I'm not surprised that some gays have conservative views, especially if they are fiscal in nature. - EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8What says reality?
I took the time to click that link and read his post, which doesn't quite match your description. Self-promotion is not spamming. However, you are spamming, in many postings, including two here.
Give it a rest. You made yourself heard, but now you're just a bore. - millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7There's a word for those who believe in gay marraige and women's rights, but have generally Conservative views on most economic and other topics: Libertarian.
- dan2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7This is old news, there has been plenty of discussion about blogs(both right and left) doing this and digg doesn't care. The digg this buttons were a mistake imo.
- d00ley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yes. This is it exactly. Karl Rove did this with the Harriet Myers nomination as well. The Democrats take the bait every time. When it's getting too hot, throw out an easy target in the opposite direction.
- Mabu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5If they're going to run stories like that they should start putting up the neighborhood stoner dude to explain why none of this matters because we're all a spec of dust in the cosmic monkey's toenail.
- Mabu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Hey, that's just like the catholics... except their conspiracy is real... see:
http://digg.com/world_news/Pope_Caught_Orchestrating_Church_Pedophile_Cover_Up - Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I, for one, would like to see all possibilities explored during the investigation of this official's prolonged inappropriate behavior.
I think everyone involved should be looked at quite closely.
I don't see anything outrageous with taking a close look at those involved, regardless of their sexual orientation. Human nature is often guided by odd loyalties caused by shared social labels. I don't believe any individual belonging to any group, club, race, party, or orientation is automatically above suspicion of shielding another "member" of their little subdivision from negative publicity.
Certainly, no one should automatically be excluded from scrutiny simply because of who they choose to sleep with.
CBS is reporting what has been said without casting judgment.
That is precisely how the news is supposed to work. - Personatech, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Wow. All along I thought it was *Democrats* who hate everybody: they hate Catholics (see post above), they hate other Christians, they hate conservatives, they hate Southerners, they hate Westerners (unless they border the Pacific), they hate wage-earners, they hate Jews (remember Jackson's "Hymietown"?), they hate the unborn, they hate WASPs, they hate crackers, they absolutely despise anyone who seems the least bit patriotic.
See how foolish your post was?? * rolleyes * - d00ley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Actually, it's been pretty established that there is a homosexual and pedophile cabal in the Republican party for quite some time. See the Washington Times (conservative paper) article below:
http://howfastami.com/articles/wtwh.htm
Also, see http://www.johnnygosch.com/cos.htm if you want to see the darker side of this.
Note that Foley was the co-chairman of the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus. Putting two and two together... - jdb252, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This had NOTHING to do with Katie Couric, BJ.
- jbcghia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4insightful as always bully. Nothing says erectile dysfunction like telling someone to get a boob job.
- FarcePest, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So are they blaming it on a vast, limp-wristed conspiracy?
- elebrio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3As long as CBS News says so it must be true.
- millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Gay Republicans? They exist?! Isn't that like the notion of a Jewish Nazi or Black Klansman? (You know, someone who's ashamed of who they are...)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4jarland stop whining. you can always click the politics opinion section off. its not that big of a deal. and you alone cannot bury stories, you need a lot more than one person to bury it. get a life.
- fjvwing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Geezus christ. Gay politcal bloggers like Mike Rogers on blogactive.com have been trying to out Foley for frickin ever since he signed on to the gay marriage ammendment. Now suddenly there's a gay cabal?
- Duffy40, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2A vasr Right Wing Limp wristed conspiracy, god-damned Log Cabin republiclicans
- JohnboiWaltune, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1People who have sexual desires they must keep secret because of religious or social reasons, have to spend their whole lives controlling their own sexuality. It creates a lot of tension in them. That is why they try to control other people's sexuality as well, they are just externalizing their own inner conflict.
So it seems very normal to them to want to control people's consensual sexual behavior, when to the rest of us it seems ridiculous to care what adult human beings do in the privacy of their bedrooms.
I'm not saying every gay-hater is externalizing their self-loathing at their own gay feelings, but the loudest of them likely are. - zweben, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5What the ***** are you talking about?
- d00ley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This has a long history. From the conservative paper, Washington Times:
http://howfastami.com/articles/wtwh.htm - Pignanelli, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Not my words, but possibly the best comment ever:
The GOP hates everybody, haven’t the people figured that out yet?
They hate poor people, they hate NOLA, the hate Fema, they love war, they love money, they hate the french, they hate the spanish, they hate liberals, they hate macacas, they hate indians, they they even hate their base of christians wackos [Scanlon calls them], who will believe anything they are told. [ScanlonReedDelayAbramoff Indian Corruption] Now 5 years later they decide they hate staffers and have gone on a Mcarthyistic attack on themselves.
These people are screwing all of America for their unethical behaviour.
The GOP was against ethics before they were not for them - pingveno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow, that Congressman is so creepy that he is creepy on multiple levels. Besides asking the page about rather... private details, the Congressman sounds more childish than the page.
- EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"OK now let me see if I understand this"
You don't. That's probably the most pathetic case of racist straw man self-deceptive ***** conservative wanking I've ever read. Actual Men of Straw are deeply insulted at their portrayal. - Duffy40, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I am talking about the fact that it is OK to criticise someone on the right for being gay
But taboo on the left
I am talking about the fact that there is no one who is not white in a Position of power in the Democratic Party, Mainstream Media, or Hollywood.
And yes I know the difference between Gay and Pedophilia
So why is it Pedophilia with Mark Foley, but a private issue between Gerry Studd and his 17 year Old Page Boyfriend?
And why did Clinton pardon Mel Reynolds who actually violated the Law and was convicted?
Did the democratic party suddenly find a moral compus that works the same way as most people?
Or is it just godd ole progressive Hypocrasy, I settle for the latter.
And Oh on the subject, Foley is gone, a criminal investigation underway, Barney Frank, you know the democrat who was pimping 18 Y/O male p[rostitutes out of his Washingtown townhouse, is still a powerfull member of the House.
Clean up your House before you worry about Republicans, Seems like they acted pretty fast to clean up theirs - Ray301, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3wow, so the republicans have so far blamed:
- the Page, its their fault for tempting some 50 something guy.
- the voters of Florida for voting the guy in, since they should have known better.
- the democrats, because they orchestrated this whole thing to make them look bad
- the gay mafia, because aside from dressing fabulous... they also control the entire political system and will threaten anyone who objects with extreme makeovers. They have so much power over congress that they have yet to make gay marriage and gays in the military happen.
what i don't understand is why anyone is taking the family research counsel seriously. These are the people who's reason against gays in the military being that the straight army men may wake up to find that some gay guy has put their penis in their ass without them knowing. - protogenxl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"BEWARE THE GAY BANDITOS!"

BLACK/STERN '08 - Pignanelli, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Let me see if I can straighten this out for you: It's OK to be gay, as long as you aren't a pedophile. Can you understand that?

http://www.topix.net/us-house/mark-foley - CanPanther, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I don't get this. I thought the Conservatives were against gay people in general, They won't allow them to adopt, they won't allow them to marry. So if this is the case, why are they protecting this man so much?
- BillDoE, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Off topic. I'm sure it will be on the front page soon.
I just saw Pat Buchanan on msnbc calling Mark Foley a flamer . - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1MaF54: Hello Sunshine State Kate (lol). Thanks for covering my ass (lol)

http://www.americanpolitics.com/20061004Bisbort.html - vandelay451, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3In 1983, Democratic congressman Gerry Studds was found to have sexually propositioned House pages and actually buggered a 17-year-old male page whom he took on a trip to Portugal. The 46-year-old Studds indignantly attacked those who criticized him for what he called a "mutually voluntary, private relationship between adults."
When the House censured Studds for his sex romp with a male page, Studds — not one to be shy about presenting his backside to a large group of men — defiantly turned his back on the House during the vote. He ran for re-election and was happily returned to office five more times by liberal Democratic voters in his Martha's Vineyard district. (They really liked his campaign slogan: "It's the outfit, stupid.") - BullyJack, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Why doesn't anybody take me seriously?

guy who dreamed for 20 yrs of molesting little girls and
then prepared to act it out............again.............and if
these Pages had met with Foley who knows what would
have happened.........? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1ccc
- Duffy40, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3OK now let me see if I understand this
OK it is bad to be gay, unless you are a democrat , cause if your gay and not a democrat you must be a Fag
And the only good minority is one the shuts up and votes democrat, otherwise you are a *****,Chink, or Jew
So that means that unless you are a democrat, you are evil
So when a Republican Congressman has questionable activities with a Page, He is evil and he must go, as do all of the other republicans.
But if it were a democrat, he deserves reelection and should not be censored, and at the very least deserves a Pardon.
I think I got a grip on the Progressive Philosophy, it is not what you do that is bad, it is who you are. Thus mere existence by Republicans, Conservatives, Christians, (Apparently Both Protestant Fundamentalist and Roman Catholics) makes you evil.
But, as long you say the right progressive things, Everything you do is excused. You don't even have to actually do anything, as long you say the right things, and never actively oppose the liberal agenda, you get a pass.
OK, Got it. -
