Bush Didn't Go to War for Oil After All
apnews.myway.com — Democrats plan to push legislation this spring that would force the Iraqi government to spend its own surplus in oil revenues to rebuild the country, sparing U.S. dollars. But haven't the Democrats been saying all along the Bush went to war for oil? Is this an admission they were lying all along?

- mindy624, on 04/09/2008, -14/+23Well..it musta sunk in the liberal bean brains on the hill that progress IS being made. But instead of making a collective sigh of relief that all is well, they now want to (and I think mean-spiritedly) want the Iraqi's to 'pay up'!!
Can you believe it!??!
First they say we are oppressing the poor Iraqi's by 'occupying' their country, then they want them to PAY for that occupation???????
This is a back handed compliment if ever I saw one...
proof that Bush is doing a top job.
But they wont admit it.
gee whiz.
Just when you think the democrats can't sink any lower, they prove you wrong!
What a bunch of hoodlums and ghouls.
mindy - chicofaraby, on 04/09/2008, -20/+15" But haven't the Democrats been saying all along the Bush went to war for oil?"
What did your last tank of gas cost? What happened to Exxon's profits since the illegal invasion of Iraq? It was never about owning the oil. It was always about the price of oil. Mission Accomplished!- BECoole, on 04/09/2008, -4/+16Oh yeah! I remember Saddam yelling "I'll show you Bush! I'll GIVE away oil!".
Not. - zelig, on 04/09/2008, -8/+17Nice try, Chico. The price of oil has nothing to do with our totally legal invasion. Did you ever stop to think about the hundreds of thousands of his own people, even his own family Saddam murdered? Have you considered all the rapes his two sons committed?
No, because you're a liberal troll. And don't give me the bogus number of "innocent Iraqis" we killed in the war. Everybody now knows those numbers were not only inflated by lefties like yourself, but they represent mostly the TERRORISTS we killed.- chicofaraby, on 04/09/2008, -17/+7http://images.google.com/images?source=ig&hl=en&rl ...

- BECoole, on 04/09/2008, -4/+19This is truly one of the main areas where the Repubs screwed this war up. They tried to assuage the "No Blood for Oil" crowd. In the process, they have made the war so expensive that it has contributed to the collapse of US currency.
About damn time we made them pay for this. Now we have to stop bribing to get everyone on our side and stop paying blood money.- chicofaraby, on 04/09/2008, -17/+6"About damn time we made them pay for this"
The Iraqis should pay for making us illegally bomb their country into rubble. The logic of the insane right wing....- ElvisNixon, on 04/09/2008, -1/+13This is a democrat idea. Read the article.
- chicofaraby, on 04/09/2008, -13/+5I did. I was responding to a comment, not the story. That's why I used quotes in the "reply" section.

- cashman57, on 04/09/2008, -10/+13Where the Republicans screwed up was not adhering to the Constitution and passing a use of force resolution for which there is no Constitutional basis. This whole thing needs to end. There is no military solution in Iraq.
The only way to be sure and stop the violence is to turn the entire country into an uninhabitable nuclear wasteland.
The only way to make sure no more of our troops get killed in that hellhole not worth a drop of American blood is to get them out of there so they are no longer targets.
Congress has failed the American people and all of the members of Congress who supported the use of force by voting for it or voting to fund it need to be kept from returning in the next Congress.
Every last one of them let us all down and violated their own oath of office.- zelig, on 04/09/2008, -6/+11More Americans died in the state of California in the last 24 hours from drug overdoses than soldiers in Iraq died in the last two months.
- chicofaraby, on 04/09/2008, -17/+6Why do stupid people think that is some sort of justification for the murder in Iraq?
- DFrag, on 04/09/2008, -11/+2The Great Forrest Gump said, 'Stupid is as stupid does'.
nuff said. - animalwheeler, on 04/09/2008, -3/+9Why do "stupid people think" that there is some sort of justification for murdering babies through abortions?
Zelig's comment is right in line with lib logic on abortion, now it's just the other side of the fence for this subject.- chicofaraby, on 04/09/2008, -9/+5No one dies in an abortion.
- animalwheeler, on 04/09/2008, -3/+9Babies, unborn developing humans, die in abortions. *Murdered*, just like the people in Iraq that the libs like to state.
And since you put the Google pics up I'll ask:
On the first page, top row, two labeled "Iraqi baby deformed thanks..." cannot be more then a few months old, especially the third on in. So why is it so bad for these babies to be murdered, but one that is a month from birth isn't? Both are developing humans, in need of someone to nurish and sustain them then to live.
Yes someone dies in a WAR.
Yes someone dies in an ABORTION.
If killing during war is bad, then so is killing during abortions. - socialismEVIL, on 04/09/2008, -1/+6chicofaraby, so you wouldn't mind if I use those techniques on you? You won't be dying after all.

"It's clear to me, and I think to my Republican colleagues as well, the president just says his only plan to is keep roughly 140,000 troops there until the next president becomes president, and hand off the problem to him or her,"
how can biden criticize bush for doing what a high ranking military official said in an official recommendation? just because its not inline with the dem's thought process doesn't mean its not the best option. (on a side note, i'm ok with having their government chip in for reconstruction costs. i'm not saying pawn the whole thing off on them, but they should be contributing. why should we pay for the majority unless it was an act of agression on our part) - senkmajer, on 04/09/2008, -6/+23Wait a minute... I thought Haliburton... no, wait... Cheney's getting ric... the Republica... Blood mon... Hmmmm...

1) Halliburton got rich.
2) Cheney got rich.
3) The Republicans ( and their co-conspirators the Democrats ) betrayed America.
4) Blood mon ... what, Blood Monkey?
5) Bush sucks.
You're welcome.- flip2trip, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3In a press release of March 5, 2001, the Cheneys reported that they had established the Gift Administration Agreement on January 18, 2001 to donate all net after tax proceeds from various stock options that the Vice President had earned at Halliburton and for their service on the boards of directors of other companies to three designated charities--George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates, Inc. for the benefit of the Cardiothoracic Institute, the University of Wyoming for the benefit of the University of Wyoming Foundation, and Capital Partners for Education for the benefit of low-income high school students in the Washington, D.C. area. By entering into the Gift Administration Agreement the Cheneys divested themselves of the economic benefit of the options and granted the gift administrator full discretion, power and control over the options. The Agreement directed the gift administrator to maximize the gifts to the three charities while avoiding financial or after tax benefit or detriment to the Cheneys.
Note that this was done BEFORE he took office. Keep on spreading your lies yellowcake.

- BECoole, on 04/09/2008, -3/+16I will never congratulate the Democrats for this move. They were the ones who delayed it for all these years.
- cashman57, on 04/09/2008, -4/+12They voted for the use of force and voted to fund it and voted to keep that funding off-budget.
There are no winners here, all of them who voted for the use of force which has no Constitutional basis deserve to be sent home and replaced with people who have actually read the Constitution- BECoole, on 04/09/2008, -3/+10I agree that a formal declaration of war should have been passed, but I also believe that Iraq richly deserved the thrashing we gave them.
What I really disagree with is the overall PC execution of the war.- ricperry1, on 04/10/2008, -3/+4Just because a dictator "deserves" to be overthrown doesn't justify the invasion of any country. We didn't remove Fidel Castro with force. We haven't overthrown Kim Jong Il by force (yet).
- chicofaraby, on 04/09/2008, -13/+4Actually a majority of Congressional Democrats voted against the illegal invasion in Oct. 2002. But you are absolutely correct in the rest of your post.
- drachemorder, on 04/09/2008, -2/+5Quit using the word "illegal". International law is nothing but a smoke screen. The only real international law is whoever has the most guns makes the law.

- svtspeed, on 04/09/2008, -8/+5That’s right. He went to war to put his buddies over at Blackwater in business - the same reason he refuses to leave (contrary to popular believe that Bush wants to spread freedom to Iraqi's). Think about it what happens to Blackwater's billions if we pull out of Iraq? War has become nothing more than business; American lives for profit. God Bless the USA.
- Antarcticn, on 04/09/2008, -7/+2It's called "blood money". The arrogant, insolent, hyper-cocky neo-comms always do this kind of IN YOUR FACE haughtiness. That was the name of their "op" to occupy and absorb Iraq into their imperious empire. - socialismEVIL, on 04/09/2008, -2/+7'bout time!

and prematurely withdraw American forces from Iraq. I can't wait to fight those radical Islam bastards in our own backyards.
Show me the perfect war? What is a perfect war? Sure Bush has made mistakes. So has every political opponent.
I have a video montage showing everybody from the Left, bill clinton on down and across the world saying Saddam had WMD's. (Many thanks to clinton again for dumbing down military intelligence.)
If you ask me, this war is on clinton's shoulders. My guess is he didn't want to do the chores that needed doing in his time.
He just wanted to get out of the white house without war.- yellowcakewalk, on 04/10/2008, -8/+3Yes, they'll come for you just like the Viet Cong came over after they kicked the USA's ass out of their country. Hey, Charlie's right outside, hiding behind your neighbor's double wide.
