It was the Southern Democrats who fought tooth and nail to keep their fellow human beings in chains. After failing in that endeavor, those same Democrats instituted Jim Crow. It was only after coming to terms with the new face of America that these Democrats began looking for more subtle ways to keep black people enslaved, by making them dependent on government. You can hardly blame a people, who had so recently been set free, for wanting some measure of justice from the government that had so cruelly wronged them. The Democrats played on those appeals to authority, and kept America divided along racial lines. They feigned regret, begged for forgiveness, and promised to make it all better if black folks would just vote for them. And so they have. But they are beginning to uncover the deceit, as this article illustrates.
Racism is groupthink. It lumps people together based on irrelevant criteria, rather than viewing them as individuals based on their merits as such. This is the mentality of Democrats, not Republicans. Democrats must pit Americans against one another in order to win elections. Republicans only need to explain the concept of individualism. Once people understand that, they love the idea. All people.
