>satisfying, but not funny . . . just mean.
Let me get this straight -- you feel sorry for the guy who's doubled the national debt, killed 3000 of our kids and increased terrorism by 10x?
Rather than, say, wanting to hang him? - SlvrEagle23, on 10/12/2007, -8/+44...they'd turn it off and go outside in hope that they might see Jesus coming...

I don't feel sorry for him one bit. I think the situation is sad, not funny. Wanting to hang someone is also bitter and angry . . . not funny. Inciting people to want to hang someone is bitter and angry . . . not funny.
I'm not disagreeing with Maher, I'm disagreeing with the comment that what he said was "pure comedic brilliance." If people really think THAT is pure comedic brilliance we can add one more casualty to this war: comedy. - lopla, on 10/12/2007, -16/+45Our church recently verified that Bush is the 2nd son of God. So go ahead and spew your blasphemous diatribe. ENJOY HELL.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND MAY HIS TWO SONS RULE OVER ALL FOR ETERNITY. - FrankieBallz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+31for being the craziest ***** post on all of digg I digg you up.

And for the record I'd sleep with Ann Coulter. I just wouldn't admit it. - nick111, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24So what are you doing? whining back?
Face it, the people you voted for turned out to be the worst there have ever been - the whole thing has turned into an embarrassing fiasco, horrendously damaging for the world, and horrendously damaging for America - and you supported it.
This isn't partisan whining, it's common sense finally being restored to rightful place. - Szandor, on 10/12/2007, -16/+33crooksandliars.com: Sounds like a perfect place to discuss the Bush Aminstration.

How about the US starts rounding up all the people making comments like yours on the internet, and shipping them off to die in Iraq. I just assume you wouldn't have anything against that, judging from the things you're spewing out. So stop talking out of your ass and sign up for duty in Iraq.
I'm so sick and tired of both camps in the US. The Republicans for being complete and utter morons, and the Democrats for being whiny brats. Bill Maher is just plain funny, regardless of his political "agenda" (jeez, you bushies are hella paranoid), and he does make a pretty good point. - futuretense, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17the crowd didn't take too lightly to that. No surprise. the crowd voted for the bush. the crowd is stupid looks pretty stupid now. wearing an american flags on your lapel has taken on a political shorthand. It says "Don't question authority, I'm exploiting 9-11 to appeal your most basic emotional instincts. Also while you're at it could you maintain your jingoistic stance. It makes getting away with murder so much easier to do." Bravo *****, keep waving your flag. You have lost touch with reality.

Causes
Psychosis is a severe mental condition characterized by a loss of contact with reality. There are numerous potential causes:
Alcohol and certain drugs can induce psychosis - unsolicited, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I think Bill Maher should do us a favor by analyzing the current candidates viz Clinton, Obama, Gravel ..
- MeanGeno, on 10/12/2007, -9/+17Bill Maher is awesome. He is not ***** closed minded like some people posted. Just because he's an atheist and most of you are Christians, including myself does not mean that his opinion does not count.
That's whats wrong with this Country, especially the Bush administration. If you're not a Christian or a religious type, then your opinion and you are worthless. That's not fair. - buckrogers1965, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I wonder where I can get a little constitution lapel pin from?
The flag is just a symbol for other things, like the constitution and the citizens of America. When people value the symbol more than the thing that symbol represents, then they are failing to understand what is important. It seems that the people that care that the flag is "under attack" either don't understand or don't care that the patriot act and the lawless actions of the executive branch are far more disrespectful to the nation than even burning a flag. So what, someone has destroyed a flag that they bought from a store, they can always just make another flag.
Once destroyed, our rights will be a little harder to remake than a single flag.
If the flag is no longer representing the people and their rights, and instead becomes a corporate banner of the power elite, then it will not have any value at all. It will be an empty meaningless memorial to a formerly great nation. - Riffraffs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Oh, I see, cause your marine "buddy" is some tough guy that could beat on him makes your point of view right and his wrong ... sort of like the brown shirts in the 30's ...

He wasn't pulling it out of his ass:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancet_surveys_of_mortality_before_and_after_the_2003_invasion_of_Iraq
"The Lancet published two studies on the effect of the 2003 invasion of Iraq and subsequent occupation on Iraqi mortality, the first in 2004, the second (by many of the same authors) in 2006. The studies attempt to estimate the number of excess deaths caused by the occupation, both direct (combatants plus non-combatants) and indirect (due to increased lawlessness, degraded infrastructure, poor healthcare, etc.).
...
The second survey[2][3][4] published on 11 October 2006, estimated 654,965 excess deaths related to the war, or 2.5% of the population, through the end of June 2006. The new study applied similar methods and involved surveys between May 20 and July 10, 2006.[4] More households were surveyed, allowing for a 95% confidence interval of 392,979 to 942,636 excess Iraqi deaths." - laserblazer, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10It's actually ~45k wounded Americans at this point.
- yakski, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9@jcm267
You just demonstrated your complete historical ignorance... go read some history before you spout some more lies... start with "Ghost Wars"... a historical look at all the US involvement in the region. - Riffraffs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Maher is not an atheist, and has said so him self several times. He is anti-organized religion.
- BarneyF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Remindes me of the classic John Prine song "Flag Decal"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1qE2vJdDw4
Your flag decal won't get you into heaven any more
It's already overcrowded from your dirty little war
And Jesus don't like killin', no matter what the reason's for.
So your flag decal won't get you into heaven any more.
etc - MeanGeno, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16"faith isnt always included in religion"
*****.
Bush is one of those Christian nut jobs. Yeah, I bet God told him to invade Iraq to get revenge on Husein trying to assassinate his daddy.
650,000 Iraqui civilians dead and 3,300 Americans dead and 25,000+ wounded for nothing. What a joke. - Riffraffs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6this assessment comes from personal experience, doesn't it?
- Riffraffs, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I think President Bush is doing the best job he can do - given the situation the USA is in.
What would you do to help the USA if YOU where president?
... spend the 421 BILLION dollars wasted on a ***** war on:
We could have insured
252,293,008
children for one year
or
we could have hired
7,301,694
additional public school teachers for one year.
or
we could have built
3,793,678
additional housing units.
or
we could have provided
20,425,140
students four-year scholarships at public universities.
Instead of giving the money to war mongering corporations to build their bottom lines.
the war on Ira has nothing to do with terrorism.

- ShnowDoggie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Not sure if this is funny or not. An older rural church here in Loudoun VA had "George Bush - Gods Candidate" on their Church Sign during the last Presidential election cycle.
- scotticus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If Bush hadn't ***** up so much, we wouldn't be so polarized right now, and you might get an even set of political posts/diggs. Most commentary from the right is still backing Bush's wildly unpopular platform of continuing this war, so most people don't digg these things up. Another reason is that people who once backed this administration's policies have realized that they are flawed (as evidenced by the President's approval rating).
Don't you worry... 10 years from now, after the democrats hold all of the power for a while, they'll be just as unpopular and you'll see the same crap happen again in the other direction (which is why we should all aspire to have a mixed government). And just like the crazies on the right point to Clinton, you'll see lefties pointing to the precedent set by Bush when they get caught with their pants down. - john2kx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7i think i might have cracked a smile once or twice, but this guy has been doing comedic political commentary forever and yet still can't touch Jon Stewart.. It's not just the fact that he's not that funny -- there's something slightly off-putting about his overall smugness.
- scotticus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Wow, you're an idiot. I agree that Maher can be extremely liberal on some issues, particularly on drug control and the environment, but he strikes me more as a libertarian than a liberal. Also, I don't think I would even think to call a guy who bangs the crap out of chicks at the playboy mansion gay. Being anti-Bush doesn't make you liberal... just like it doesn't make you not conservative or libertarian. It means you're sane.
Maybe you should stick to idiot redneck comedy like Larry the Cable Guy or the "You might be a redneck..." guy. Their lack of sophistication might be more appropriate for someone of your mental capabilities. - scotticus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Turd Blossom.

- veganofascist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I don't know if he is psychotic, but if you compare his recent speech to some from 10 years ago, it sure looks like the years of alcohol and drug abuse are catching up with him - or maybe there is some other reason for it. It is sad on a personal level, but it is ***** up to have him running our country.

Put your tinfoil hat back on and crawl into your bomb shelter. - Riffraffs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5 really, How many of the terrorists on the planes were from Iraq? Oh WAIT!! I SEE they are all brown skinned Muslims so they are all the same.
- Caffeinate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Most of the "Christians" can't wait to run out and vote for a Republican, simultaneously ignoring the fact that lies, murder and adultery are also sins.
- scotticus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That happens in every thread... people who enter Mac areas and even jokingly suggest that there might be something wrong with anything Apple related get dugg down heavily. Same with 9/11 conspiracy threads, same with right leaning threads, same with gun rights threads...
If you enter a thread where the majority of the people digging it are from the opposite opinion of you, you're not going to be able to have your point heard. I kind of wish digg wouldn't hide unpopular comments automatically, because it promotes the "la, la, la I can't hear you" kind of attitude. There is nothing wrong with hearing contrary opinions. - vsujohn2, on 10/12/2007, -11/+13650,000?
Really?
Do you really believe that?
Lets take a look at that....
1. Currently the "high" amount reported by iraqbodycount.net is 68593, in this case maybe you're off a decimal point either intentionally, or ignorantly.
2. Out of all media outlets/journals/etc that are reporting civilian casualties, only one reported higher than 100,000. (People that scream out about the casualties, coincidentally use this one estimate)
3.650,000~ would be roughly 2-3% of the population of iraq, not very likely
4. Where are all these deaths coming from? Averaged out, the 650,000 is 433 deaths per day, every day since 2003, even though its rare to see a 200+ death day reported by independent sources.
5. The number would be 2-3 times the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic explosions.
6. I'm not diminishing the fact that a potential 65,000 Iraqi civilians have died, that is D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y not good, but dont blast numbers out of your ass trying to sound like you know what you're talking about. - drtyrell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's so hard watching Bill Maher pretend that Bush is an idiot. Bush doesn't believe anything he's saying. Bush is a puppet of the world banks that control America. He has been told to keep the war going for as long as possible so that the civil war destroys the country, the world banks install their taxation constitution, and all the contractors make a buck on the side. This is about destroying a country so they have to borrow money at 1000% interest from the world banks to rebuild. Once taxed that's it. The middle-east will be slaves for the rest of eternity. America will have once again done the dirty work for the European own and operated banks that control the USA. Dismiss this as a lie today, and remember you once heard the truth decades before it hit you.
