- SaintDogbert, on 11/01/2007, -2/+79Tonight on the History Channel, "Hitler, the Man Who Ruined the Toothbrush Mustache."
- ostracize, on 10/12/2007, -0/+44I much preferred the Eva Green photos on the right side of the article.
- BenFaist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45DAMNIT, GET TO THE POINT!!!
- RadiantBeing, on 10/19/2007, -5/+42Interesting premise for a funny or thoughtful article, but the execution was terrible. The vast majority of the article is research. When he finally talks about his experience with the mustache (halfway down the last page), the description lacks the kind of details that make the reader believe it actually happened.
- mikeramone, on 10/19/2007, -7/+42at first i thought an article about a moustache was going to be boring. and i was right.
- doctorfungi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+37I might just become an emo and start a horrible war so I can end the trend. Didn't really think of that until now.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30can't forget the sloppy hitler combover
- whatthefu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Couldn't he just say he's wearing a Charlie Chaplin mustache?
- airwalkery2k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30I can only grow an anti-Hitler mustache. Across my upper lip, hair grows wildly, except that one inch square beneath my nose.
- LocDawg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20umm... PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
- BostonMa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Women shouldn't wear them either.
- qwickone, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14There's nothing wrong with research, but if I'm reading an article about the experience of wearing the mustache, I don't want to read 2 1/2 pages of research first. IMO, it should have been mostly about the experience with some of the background (maybe 2 paragraphs or something).
- VladDrac, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Good assessment. And where are the pictures of him wearing it around town? My guess is that if he did really wear it, which I doubt, he wore it for a very short time.
- Hetman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11It is amazing how much symbolism that an inch of hair can conjure up. When I see it, it really does represent evil to me. Its sounds foolish but it is true.
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -2/+11Stalin's was better.
- cozmoz365, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Actually it was the height of fashion before the Second World War
- coollettuce, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9The article could have been better if he talked more about his personal experiences with the mustache and provided pictures so we could know he wasn't some ***** writer.
- azprofessional, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10How do you know a Newfie invented the Tooth Brush? Because if it was invented anywhere else it would be called a 'Teeth Brush'.
- pigfister, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8it was prince harry that was a ss uniform as a joke about the royal family's heritage.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4170083.stm - rolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Offtopic, but from TFA:"A few nights earlier, I had seen Richard Dawkins, the author of The God Delusion, interviewed by Bill O'Reilly, who, citing Stalin and Hitler, said he thought atheists, because of their lack of restraining faith, were more susceptible to evil. To which Dawkins (in essence) replied: both Stalin and Hitler wore mustaches—do we therefore think the mustache was the cause of their behavior?"
Actually, Hitler was a professed Christian. We can debate whether his faith was real or not but it's rather low of ORLY to say that Hitler was an atheist to score points against atheists. I'm a Christian, but bearing such ill will toward atheists is unchristian and OReilly should not bear false witness either.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Hitler#Religiou ... - jeuhrn, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10The article wasn't about the author, it was about the moustache. He only used himself as an angle. That's why there's more stuff on the political moustache than on "Rich Cohen". Get it?
- benitojuarez, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8al sharpton is going to get his website shut down because he said *****.
- wushin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Error: The toothbrush mustache is only the second most powerful mustache. As the most powerful mustache is the Lemmy worn by Lemmy from Motorhead. Man, do some research and get the facts straight.
- arjie, on 10/19/2007, -1/+7Well, Green beats Braun then.
- cooterthekid, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6you and me both buddy....
- LocDawg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6pigfister is ... a pigfister?
- stray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5There was also the annoying man in the "Hotel Inspectors" episode of "Fawlty Towers" who wore a toothbrush moustache. So it's not *solely* Hitler's thing.
- WarMachineWCLH, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Best quote from the article; "If you want to fly coach without being hassled, grow a Toothbrush mustache."
- Vodka2389, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7BTW, Cohen is a Jew.
- vertinox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah. Actually, the toothbrush mustache was a popular form of facial hair style back in the 20s and 30s. Many people who didn't like Hitler or his policies had the style way before him. (Don't forget Charlie Chaplin)
Sadly, it has become rather taboo to have a mustache like Hitler these days. At least he didn't sport a goatee and ruin that. - mikesbaker, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8"My name is Rich Cohen, and I wear a Hitler mustache." - very funny article
- sutro33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Really? With the last name Cohen I never would have guessed that.
- cyberscape2, on 10/11/2007, -8/+11God forbid the vast majority of the article be research.
- knde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It's actually rather disturbing how many women don't seem to notice they are sporting a moustache. I mean how can they not see it! Especially considering how much time we spend ogling our mugs.
Men and women be nice, tell your female friends to wax their lip moustache. - azprofessional, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Oh she a fine dere, catchin lotsa cod fer the yougins. At least that what we were talking aboot.
- mojoel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Right on, brudder! 'Ows she gettin' on?
- ipodman715, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Next month's magazine issue.
(Actually it should be in stands now) - jeuhrn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Yeah, got the same thing going on.
- LeeSoong, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3the 'toothbrush mustache' was made popular by Charlie Chaplin.
http://www.nndb.com/people/876/000023807/ - dext3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OK, Dad!
- choopie911, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well that was a snoozer. Why have the majority of the article be about the moustache origin when people are more interested in "well, what happened when you wore it?!" Sure, give us a little backstory, but 2+ pages with a tiny touch of his own experience....just poorly done...
- rockrapdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2November 2007?
- morningmatters, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The funniest line from the article:
"I imagined toughs from the Jewish Defense League attacking with throwing stars—Jewish throwing stars!" - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Too bad he didn't have a receding hairline, decide to shave it bald to look tough, then have a goatee to try to compensate for his lack of hair. That's one look we could do without.
- lex10, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'm Rich Cohen, and I am wearing a Ron Mael mustache.
Next article: I'm Rich Cohen and I'm using Adolph's Meat Tenderizer - shdwghst457, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2rephrased "- proves Bill O'Reilly is a hated idiot."
- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Yes, be we know his secret identity now!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:CharlieChaplinD ... - fuzzmeister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Of course, you have to commit suicide in the end. Taking one for the team, if you will.
- londubh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2John Bolton's mustache is evil too. I suspect it's some kind of alien parasite because no human being would say the stupid ass things he does.
- grendelicious, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2are toothbrush mustache rides the same price as the other ones?
