- andrewsmith1986, on 10/11/2007, -7/+52Why should such a hate monger rest in peace?
- Al3x, on 10/11/2007, -17/+51Am I the only one who can triple digg? If I like what somebody says, I go to digg their comment, if I click really fast, I can get 3 + diggs. Only 1 minus though.
- Hentez, on 10/11/2007, -6/+36Thank God, That guy really sucked at life
- Condottieri, on 10/11/2007, -3/+26Someone died, but I don't feel sad. Does that make me a bad person?
- Condottieri, on 10/11/2007, -4/+22@Al3x
It's just a glitch. If you refresh the page, the extra diggs go away. - reddevil3, on 10/11/2007, -6/+22The first comment on that page:
"here's a new one from today you can add to your list: "Jesus H. Christ it's hot down here!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The article:
We thought that Falwell's passing would be an appropriate time to publish a list of his best known quotes. Source: PositiveAtheism.org.
* “AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals”
* "It appears that America's anti-Biblical feminist movement is at last dying, thank God, and is possibly being replaced by a Christ-centered men's movement which may become the foundation for a desperately needed national spiritual awakening."
* "If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being."
* After the September 11 attacks Falwell said, “I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen."
* “Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions”
* “[Homosexuals are] brute beasts...part of a vile and satanic system [that] will be utterly annihilated, and there will be a celebration in heaven." - thinkart, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17“Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions” The only quote I agree with!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -9/+23screw that guy!
- DenTPuzz, on 10/11/2007, -7/+19@ Al3x
I just quadruple dug you for letting me know I could do that :-) - Coven, on 10/11/2007, -8/+19I had a movement this morning that looked like Jerry Falwell.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13hehe he founded Liberty University, they have 3000 years old dinosaur bones. It's way pass ignorant at this point, people like this are delusional.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12Oh yeah we will, big time.
- Al3x, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13@Condottieri
damn you! I was convinced I was swinging more weight than most digg users. - Volred, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10BREAKING: This is not breaking news.
- deepdiggdude, on 10/11/2007, -9/+18Ironically and luckily for him there is no afterlife in which he will be judged for those statements.
- polyGone, on 10/11/2007, -5/+14"If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being."
Forgive me, if I am not moved. - Crazychipmunk, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13I'm gonna have to say that describing this guy as a Christian is the most loosefitting description there could be. He knows what the Bible says, but then he take it to the extreme, beyond its original intentions, definitely.
- mouthybitch, on 10/11/2007, -7/+14The fact that he died as the chancellor of a university, any university, makes me feel worse about my degree. I'm incredibly grateful that another voice for hatred, stupidity and a complete and total lack of thought has left the building. Moreover, I find it hard to believe that anyone who spent the entirety of his or her adult life encouraging people to behave badly to one another and to devalue each other can possibly go without a little... divine reward. Hell, even if he just ceases to exist, I'm perfectly okay with that.
What a wasted life. - Odjn, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11Awesome...
- break99, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9GOOD: Religious fanatic dies.
BAD: One down, way too many to go...
UGLY: This guy said that 9/11 was "deserved" - coolkatz321, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I'm pretty sure that no one is shedding tears over this... hopefully Pat Robertson, arguably the only person more insane than Falwell, is next.
- zbeast, on 10/11/2007, -8/+14Satan has a new butt buddy.

One down 4 to go. - jokerthief, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7* “Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions”
Wait a minute, I'm confused. I thought Falwell was pro Christian, not a critic of Christians. - kindrobot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7My Favorite Jerry Falwell quote:
"You're sure you'll never tell anyone what we just did? Promise me." - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8My mama told me that "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
As for Falwell being dead...I'm shutting the ***** up. - obrysii, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6This guy had the most hilarious quote, when he mentioned that Jimmy Carter's peace ideas are completely counter to his "christian" beliefs and that 'turn the other cheek' was completely counter what 'Jesus fought and died for' ...
So completely opposite of what *real* Christianity preaches. - lnf69, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7GOOD RIDDANCE
- Hetman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6That is so great because I have only read the bible once but I didnt read anything about jesus fighting at all.
- mookiemookie, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6How the ***** is this "BREAKING" when he said those quotes YEARS ago?
- MammasMilk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5@dk911
When a person uses religion to fuel hate and intolerance, says outrageous, hateful and intolerant things he gets what he deserves.
He's done NOTHING to garner any respect in life, being dead doesn't change a thing.
He was a first rate bastard till the day he died, good riddance. - Coven, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Actually, I will be dancing in the streets when Sharpton kicks it. I hope he has a painful last few moments too. Falwell probably only clutched his chest for a minute or two. I hope Sharpton finds himself clutched in the jaws of an escaped lion or something.
- kindrobot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Class? You mean like low, middle and upper or do you mean something else?
Or do you mean it's ok to parody someone and call them out for hypocrisy and hate, then years later after you beat the ***** out of him in court, you show some decorum? Because I personally have no experience with Mr Falwell doing anything directly TO me. Decorum doesn't even come into it with me. He's a public figure, not a friend of mine. - Morelia, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I wonder how many Gays are enrolled at Liberty University?
- immolation, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I wish there was a hell so this ***** could roast in it...
Sadly, he is now just flesh and bone. He will never pay for the hate and ignorance spread by his teachings... There are a thousand ready to take his place. - dasilva333, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7wow so many people are glad to see this man is dead, i guess that must be the same feeling everyone will get once that happens to the likes of leaders like bush, cheney, castro, osama. anyhow i say good riddance
- Hetman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5WTF is with blamming pagans for anything. There are only a handfull of actuall practicing pagan these days. And the majority of america is made up of christians so if im going to blame someone it is going to be them.
- sparky1013, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4i wonder how he's enjoying his "eternal life" in hell???
- Hetman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5All the christians should be happy he died. Atleast now he is in heaven with his lord and savior. I think it should be all christians greatest achievmant to seek going to heaven as fast as they can get there.
- johnshooter, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I'm sure someone, somewhere, is going to blame this on a TeleTubby.
- MammasMilk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3@ Ergonaut
Dude you're dumber than a back of rocks. Libs don't agree with him at ALL. You damn well know that. We don't think we deserved 9-11, we recognize that it is blowback from our poor foreign policy in the middle east. - jokerthief, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I think that Falwell thought that anyone who didn't think like him was a pagan. I'm not joking either, I'm pretty sure he literally believed this.
- Hetman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3My main problem with him was his hypocrisy and his miss quoting of the bible. I might actually think of being a christian if they truly practiced the teaching of Jesus Christ. That however is not what he did. He taught hatred and bigotry. He did not preach peace and love as Jesus did.
- r00tus3r, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Well to be fair, if your going to hate him for not liking gays, then you might as well hate God (if you claim to be christian that is). The Bible describes gays as an abomination does it not? Not that I support one way of thinking over the other, but I just find it strange that a supposedly christian society would be so accepting of homosexuality.
- MammasMilk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3"You people are just cowardly... "
No, I'm sure most if not all of us said the same things about him when he was alive (and he earned it) and would say the same to his face if we had the chance (he'd earned that too)
..." insensitive, *****"
very funny considering the subject - break99, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3@Ergonaut: ""UGLY: This guy said that 9/11 was 'deserved'"
Now that's funny. This aligns him with the majority of social leftists, progressives, and liberal minions. Diggers should be celebrating this man's legacy, yet you bash him for agreeing with you."
WHAT WHAT WHAT???
AGREEING WITH ME?
CELEBRATING HIS LEGACY?
YOU SON OF A BITCH!
I WISH FOR ONCE THAT THERE WAS ACTUALLY A HELL FOR YOU AND HIM TO BURN - iRoy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Are you going to do this to EVERY story?
You Microsoft fanboys have no shame. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Well, He was an evil person.
- Innova69, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7Ummm, really. Who gives a *****?
God will punish Digg, because it's gay- J. Falwell - dtfinch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2He's just pining for the fjords!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3God also said its wrong to have premarital sex. How many Christians do you think practice that rule. Love thy neighbour is the second amendment yet Christians are hating gays, atheist, television, internet, Hollywood, penguins, babies.....
