Anonymous and Scientology, an example in alienation watch!
youtube.com — Anonymous has taken on a rather unimportant cult while ignoring serious evils. By focusing on the abuses of Scientology, you divert people from focusing on the real issues like Corporate crimes, and Media Control.

- souljaboytellem, on 03/22/2008, -1/+7I agree 100% that Scientology is being used as a scapegoat
- marc123, on 03/23/2008, -0/+4Although, Scientology could be considered a manifestation of the ideal Capitalist religion and thus an attack on Scientology is an attack on the very nature of Capitalism and all forms of organization that permeate from it.
Think about it, it's popular with the rich and famous, it allows you to buy yourself greater "enlightenment" because its so expensive it allows there to be a two tier system of more enlightened bourgeoisie like Tom Cruise and the poor less enlightened, this is fundamental to the Capitalist system; the dynamic of Rich and Poor, Owner and Worker, Slaves and Master.
In order to gain greater enlightenment we are encouraged to spend more money, which we can only get by working hard, this allows us to in effect buy happiness. The principle of consumer capitalism - PURPLEDRINK, on 03/26/2008, -0/+2anonymous - not a crime fighting group. they are picking up a long fight that has already been going on. The idea of anonymous is that they are everyone, and their political ideology is left irl (no hippies or facists... anyone talking polotics is obviously a troll)
Why they fight scientology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology_and_the_I ...
Cult of the dead cow originally declared war on CoS, starting the internet vs CoS.
Anonymous, at its first conception, were basically cyber bullies that made fun of the mentally handicapped for fun. However, how anynomity will be used for revolt by real people, and not a sort of cult of meme's will be interesting. The downfall of scientology is a protoype of how anomytity cannot be quelled.
Anonymous, as it is right now, is a *public front*/with positive PR for Image boards (as opposed to their normal black humor). It has evolded into a movement, its also an Idea (hence the bulletproof nature is has/reference to V). In these boards, you cannot register a nickname and have no identity. However, the internet provides anonymity to everyone. You simply cannot be a virtual namewhore (ie: MrBabyMan) at these boards, and your ideas are a currency, as opposed to your name/connections (being that you don't have a name).
As for connections between CoS and corruption... no form of corruption can sit well with the freedom to exchance information combined with the inability to find their critics. Take a look at how the printing press revolutionized Europe. Take a look at how the bloggings, which is anonymous save for not being in a circle jerk of known bloggers, is changing things. - redtophank, on 03/27/2008, -0/+0Very interesting
