- syroncoda, on 11/19/2007, -8/+101so how painfully obvious do the ***** in power have to be for the citizens to stand up and say its not ok? because right now the bushies are laughing at us because they've gotten away with so much and nobody is doing a thing about it.
- inactive, on 11/19/2007, -2/+62We need to cultivate the sentiment of "No victim, no crime" in this country. It's something like 80% of the imprisoned are for crimes against the state. "Our" government has lost sight of it's purpose for existing, and is no longer our tool for a society. The legislators in CA were patting themselves on the back last year because they had only added something like 800 new laws... THAT YEAR. The previous years had been over 1,000. How is this even possible?! Soon they will have added another 1,000... and another.. and another. We need to reverse this trend, or start from a clean slate, asap.
- inactive, on 11/19/2007, -0/+39The Roman Republic did it a number of times. The convened special sssions of censors who went through all the laws, culling laws that were duplicated with others and making a short and cohesive code that all citizens could read and understand.
People could do it 2300 years ago, can't we do that now? - reeder, on 11/19/2007, -5/+36I hate AT$T.
- HunterTV, on 11/19/2007, -7/+35"All suspects are GUILTY, period. Otherwise, they wouldn't be suspects, would they?"
- AriaStar, on 11/19/2007, -4/+29Is it possible to go 12 hours without there being yet another point to add for why I'm leaving the ***** country? If we're going to be treated like terrorists and punished like terrorists, we may as well act like terrorists. The government is creating "terrorists" out of people simply wanting their freedom.

"Joe's Garage" liner notes:
But, alas SAMENESS was unenforceable
It was about this time
That someone
Came up with the idea of TOTAL CRIMINALIZATION
Based on the principle that
If we were ALL crooks
We could at last be uniform
To some degree
In the eyes of THE LAW
Shrewdly our legislators calculated
That most people were
Too lazy to perform a
REAL CRIME
So new laws were manufactured
Making it possible for anyone
To violate them any time of the day or night - SniperAlf22, on 11/19/2007, -1/+23so true. I'm not American so I can't do anything about it, but I would be absolutely pissed right now if I was...
- TLAKABM, on 11/19/2007, -0/+20Because the people in charge don't want people to undestand. It's one way of disenfranchising them.
They want government to be complex, inpenetrable bureaucracy. - andrewcsayer, on 11/19/2007, -5/+22Seriously, ask your local representative if they support this immunity. If they don't find someone who does.
- badassninja, on 11/19/2007, -1/+18I am American and I can't do anything about it.
- nicky7, on 11/19/2007, -3/+19In this country the single voice no longer means squat, especially when you're arrested for it. If you stop paying taxes, you're arrested. If you're speaking out against the government and they notice you, you're likely to be arrested. They'll find or plant something to arrest you. Or site the many laws where our rights as citizens and humans have been stripped bare. Point is, if you as a sole voice speak up and show dissent, they'll snuff that voice in any way they can, and with corruption rampant, "any way they can" becomes "any way they please". The only way is if all of us unite against this tyranny. A unified voice of millions of people will be much harder to quell.
- TLAKABM, on 11/19/2007, -1/+12That attitude is exactly why the US is in the *****.
You might not be able to march into the white house and spank Georage Bush's bottom but that doesn't mean you can't do *anything*.
Become an activist. Stand up and be heard God damn it!
And most importantly you have to understand that it doesn't end when GWB leaves office. He'll be replaced by someone who's just as bad and probably not as obvious.
The republican and democrat parties are both pro-corporation and that is where the problem lies. - faskill, on 11/19/2007, -2/+13lol - "But as with so much of what Bush says, this does not pass the pants-on-fire test"
- faskill, on 11/19/2007, -0/+11I suppose you do as your name implies, which further goes to prove, you are what you eat.
- Wedge1212, on 11/19/2007, -1/+12they all need to be fired....every last one of them.
- aspec, on 11/19/2007, -0/+10If we're all suspects, does that kind of make it the status quo? What's the point then?
- VinBea, on 11/19/2007, -0/+10To tell you how screwed up I see things are - is why should we have to suffer through another year to have elections while the fraud that sits in the White House ruling as if he were king of America continues to suffer America with his evil wicked ways?
I mean if you or I are found to be guilty of fraud, would we get to wait until November of '08 before we get our just punishment?
So why should our elected politicians like Bush be given more time to wreck the country (affecting the world) further, and all those troops of ours' that will die between now and then?
Bush did the crime, as did the Clintons, and they should be doing the time, right now... - inactive, on 11/19/2007, -0/+10Its a good thing their watching me I might be a terrorist who knows what I might do.
- DangerCollie, on 11/19/2007, -0/+9The telecoms have been dealing with wiretap issues for decades. They knew what they were doing was over the line. Qwest said no, Google said no. The rest of them rolled over. If there was ever an attempt to thwart the Constitution and make a power grab, we could rest assured AT&T and Sprint would align themselves with our new Constitution trampling overlords.
- zensequential, on 11/19/2007, -5/+14we as an "ethical" society were an eager bunch to jump on Clinton and impeach him when he got a b***job out of a intern, blue dresses and all, and now with enormous amount of evidents of Bush and his administration's impeachable offenses, what happens to crosses and burning pyre? I for one voted for Kerry/Edward last time around, sure, Kerry is a wuss that will bend over backward to the UN, or for that matter anyone else, but at least he will be too chicken ***** to treat everyone in the United States as target of treason.... "Land of the Free" indeed.... this almost made me regret ever immigrating to the US... Seems I get more freedom back in China! Sure they are communists, at least i can always find jobs, and mp3 are still free to download, and I don't have to worry about my country being an international target for terrorism.... Communism vs. Capitalism, which one would YOU choose now?!
- Waiting2awake, on 11/19/2007, -2/+11Then you better accept what they give you and shut up about it. There are other actions, but they are violent and I would assume that you wouldn't be willing to do that either, if you are unwilling to do without the extra's. Imagine if your forefathers had the same mentality? Your nation wouldn't even have been created - and now because of that philosophy your nation is being destroyed.
But hey, better not rock the boat - don't want my standard of living to suffer. Besides, when it REALLY turns into a police state You'll be old and senile and your kids will be forced into the slavery that your comforts have cost them.
Suit yourself though. It is your country. - MiDri, on 11/19/2007, -2/+11A new dancing with the stars is coming on, we're going to have to take a rain check.
- Nougat, on 11/19/2007, -2/+11Get arrested, become homeless, make people think you're a lunatic, get arrested, get arrested and get arrested? Not sure how that's going to help.
- bowens44, on 11/19/2007, -0/+8Seriously? You support immunity for an corporation that trampled on your civil rights and violated both the letter and the spirit of the Constitution?
If true, that's very sad and very short sighted. - Frostman3D, on 11/19/2007, -0/+8Dear U.S. Government,
***** you!
Sincerely,
Me - rugby4ward, on 11/19/2007, -0/+8The amount of surveillance this country is investing in to fight terrorists is staggering. We should redirect more resources to real issues like this... not hunger, health care, etc.
Terrorists really are the biggest threat to the well being of the USA.
/sarcasm off - Grumps, on 11/19/2007, -2/+9You think so? Quit using this American site then.
- Corrosionx, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6Most drugs, gambling and prostitution related crimes are victimless crimes. That is, there is NO evidence of a complaining party that has any standing because you have violated one of his legal rights (a state has no legal rights so you can't violate them).
- williamdyer, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6He's right. Sometimes you have to defend your rights. Inherently, governments are not your friend.
- clearzen, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6Is anyone really surprised that the government is using their new found power against the people it controls? I believe you would have to be exceptionally naive to think that "our" government would only use that kind of sweeping power to track "terrorists"(whatever that means). If you put a human in a position where they have excessive power and the means to abuse the power without repercussions they will take full advantage of the situation 9 times out of 10.
- rabidsquirrelOG, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6Where's the class action lawsuit? Anyone got any information regarding one?
If there was ever a time where half the american population could be involved in a class action suit against some companies, this would be it! - Notasheeple, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6Where is Morpheus and Neo when you need them?
- motters, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6I think that many people in western countries are generally ok with these mass surveillance systems, because they have no personal experience of what life under a totalitarian government is really like. They may be about to find out.
- kronzdigg, on 11/19/2007, -3/+9Hate to beat a libertarian drum but we need RON PAUL
- Waiting2awake, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6As a Canadian, seeing the troubles in America doesn't make me happy at all. We are all stronger together, and believe me what is happening in the States - can and probably will, happen here. Don't get too cocky - we may be in for the same level of fight that is facing our American brothers. When that time comes, make sure you are ready yourself.
Cheers - fLUx1337, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6"Americans Are All Suspects Now and Need to be Monitored"
First up: Bush! - williamdyer, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6Then do something to ***** up a government goon. Start a rumor. Run down their reputation in the community. The smallest thing is big if many people do it.
- BigW, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6You want to know the real reason Bush won't be impeached???? The real reason is that the Democrats don't want to start a trend.... Hillary will be the next president barring any unforeseen campaign problems that the mainstream media won't be able to sweep under the rug for her. So, the democrats are biding their time and not impeaching Bush because with Hillary waiting in the wings they don't want to set the precedent of impeaching _every_ president that gets elected from now on. They all know that with the way the Clinton's work (especially Hillary) there would be _something_ that the republicans would try to run through for impeachment. BUT, if the democrats don't impeach Bush, then they can claim the high ground in arguing against impeaching Hillary. Most likely this would enable them to have impeachment "off the table" for her too. If they impeach Bush, it will be an absolute certainty that if the republicans take control of congress (just the house really) they would impeach her in a heartbeat.
That is why Bush won't be impeached..... - shadowblade989, on 11/19/2007, -0/+6So what country are you guys moving to? I'm looking at Sweden right now.
- williamdyer, on 11/19/2007, -0/+5There are thousands of ways to monkey-wrench the police state without getting sent away. Not all of it is legal, but there is much you can do without getting in trouble.
- d03boy, on 11/19/2007, -1/+6Don't try to compare lying about a blow job to lying about things that actually matter.
- Waiting2awake, on 11/19/2007, -0/+5What makes you think that there was ever a convenient time to stand up to those that would oppress you? Do you think that the American revolution started because no one else had any other plans? No one had anything to lose? They would have lost their lifes, their families lifes, indeed their entire family line was at risk.
But they didn't have the debts that have been levied against the current population. Of course those debts, are essentially that keep you in line. It is essentially that reason why you have to stop paying the system.
This really isn't rocket science. Those that hold your debt, hold your freedom. You have the power to limit, and eliminate all your personal debts save the national one - and that one you should walk away from because, it is that which enslaves you. - Corrosionx, on 11/19/2007, -0/+5Join the Free State Project http://www.freestateproject.org
Thanks to the Free State Project, New Hampshire could be the first state to prohibit illegal surveillance and other federal violations of individual liberties. - pAq6Swad, on 09/16/2008, -0/+5What's so anti-***** about it?
- Waiting2awake, on 11/19/2007, -7/+12Stop paying taxes, stop going to work, start educating others, demonstrate why this is happening to your fellow Americans, Protest in the streets, Protest in their offices, Protest right on the F;n White house....
what do you mean there is nothing you can do about it? Has your own government beaten you down so much, that you are afraid of them? If you are frightened of them - how do you suppose your children feel? Imagine if you don't do something, what these people will do to your children when they know you will not protect them anyway? - Herostratus, on 11/19/2007, -0/+5Big Brother is watching you... and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you ad nauseum.
- OwdenBowden, on 11/19/2007, -1/+6I feel your pain. I live in NYC and now, under the guise of Congestion Control (charging a fee for you to travel into and out of NYC below 86th street), my rights will continue to be violated by all of the cameras that the N.Y.P.D. will be putting in place to help make sure that the people are paying the fee. When in fact they just wanted to put up these surveillance cameras all over the city (just like they have in London - and we all know too well how that worked out. I especially because my friend was the only American to be kill there) for years but could not due to a violation of our Constitutional rights.
Nathan Hall did not give up his life for this country, to have this countries politicians, corporations and mega wealthy violate our Freedoms and rights.
The Revolution is coming. It is once again time for us to make a stand. - williamdyer, on 11/19/2007, -2/+7If Israel would ***** off and not drag us into wars or import their ***** surveillance technologies the U.S. would be a better place.
- ElBoss, on 11/19/2007, -1/+6Why are you suprised? The purpose of government is not to act in the interests of the people.
Governments exist to express sovereign powers over their citizens. The extent of the power is only limited by what the citizens allow them to get away with. -
