- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -9/+23Spare us all the off topic preaching and condemnation.
Political parties in general are the real problem with the political climate in the USA.
http://factcheck.org/ - Take a look at the lies told by both parties and have a good long look at the culture of dishonesty perpetuated by both sides.
Pointing a finger at this point is laughable hypocrisy.. - labmouse42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@KooseBane
"Political parties in general are the real problem with the political climate in the USA."
Koose is correct here.
The political structure of the US needs to be reviewed and upgraded. The system of check and balances that our forefathers built is being abused by the Democrats and Republicans and must be addressed. - lebe0024, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16... knowing full well most people will believe whatever the "drama" says. The Da Vinci Code was just a "novel" too.
- BillehBob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Quote: "
Because an event of this consequence is very hard to understand, and to distort it or to not present it factually in this kind of presentation I think does not serve the country well."
"Funny" hearing that from the 9/11 commission vice chair. - webXL, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The Berger scene was conflated from a series of events and taken literally was fiction. But people are smart enough to know that it's a DOCU-DRAMA! and that Sandy Berger didn't need any help to elevate himself to villianhood when he stuffed classified documents down his pants a few years ago before the 9/11 commision could investigate.
The Clinton people are acting as if they are completely innocent for what happened on 9/11, even though the movie also shows Bush's faults.
It's a gigantic bureaucracy, people. It's going to be mostly inept no matter who's in charge. If Gore was president on 9/11 there would have been conservatives falsely accusing him for not doing enough. The finger needs to be pointed at two things:
1) Terrorists
2) Bureaucracy
Both can kill us. - Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -9/+16Accusations of fear mongering followed by some fear mongering of your own?
How predictable. - brian6String, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Like this is a surprise? Life-long democrat Lee Hamilton is against a movie that points out the short comings of the Clinton administration. Obviously they (and everyone else, mind you) underestimated the threat.
In other shocking news, dogs and cats are found to not like each other very much, and rain is apparently produced by gatherings of atmospheric water vapor scientists are calling "clouds." Film at 11... - eelozano, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Blurring the line between reality and entertainment is something that has been going on for years. Ask people what is a reality TV show and a large percentage will respond 'Real Life' or one of the many other spin offs.
But is that reality? These are people carefully chosen and the footage heavily edited to form a narrative that quite possibly never existed in the first place.
Then of course we move on to those who believe that nothing shot through a camera is ever real, but a interpretation of the real...but do not get me started with that :P. - dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -19/+25And I see the right wing is collectively still as stupid as Bush.
- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8We are all individuals.
We don't need to be herded into two or three opposing and/or hostile groups. We don't need our political candidates stamped with approval by bloated, controlling political groups who have little interest in anything but promoting a limited agenda.
But, enough off topic preaching on my part.
I don't watch TV to learn about world affairs. It is an entertainment medium. I treat it as such.
In this day and age, news and drama BOTH are tweaked and optimized for maximum ratings draw and revenue generation. For that reason alone, TV is inherently unreliable as a source of information.
The sooner one comes to that realization, the sooner one can refuse to be manipulated into caring about what the talking heads have to say or how accurate programs are in their depiction of 'reality.' - fleischner, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11I agree. It's not good for the country to NOT know that Clinton passed EIGHT times on capturing or killing OBL. And that Burger or Albright DID NOT have the final authority on any of these incidents as portrayed in TPt 9/11, and only the President did. That's why the big push from the Clintonistas to ban this thing from seeing the light of day, and even to the extent of pulling a broadcast license. But I don't think that's exactly what Hamilton had in mind when he said what he said.
Sigh. Let the digging down begin, because, you know, wouldn't want facts to get in the way. - BigBaRay, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I am simply stating that is a common and dangerous thing for people not to be aware of what is happening and what has happend. I take from your post that you are well read and informed. Can you tell me why this was a piece of crap?? What facts were distorted??
I am sure in holding true to the libral playbook you would like to pull my vote. Since I tend not to fall lock step with the memo sent out by the DNC on philosophy and belief. I heard that this year the memo was real simply. It read. Bush = Bad on everything no matter what or we will pull your status.( Joe Liberman point )
For you hearing radio shows taking this to be fact you might want to check up on your host before you slam them. Chances are these people had a clue well before this docudrama.
For me I watched this Docudrama as a reminder to myself that Americans died on that day and that I should remember. I too in the daily run of life have felt my fire subside.I wanted to see if it could bring back the deep motivation I had the day it happened. To that end it did serve me well. And truth is I have always dispised Clinton for numurous reasons that where inside and outside this scope. So its not like I was converted.
Fair enough I withdraw my comment made to you about ***** 9/11. I am sorry. I was rude to throw that in your face. - TubaTechno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Democrats think that people AREN'T smart enough to know fact from fiction. They think America is STUPID.
- Brian48216, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I...I don't see where this "denial is"
This is the vice chair of the 9/11 Commission. The same commission that made the report that the movie supposedly is based off of.
I think you're the one in denial. But it's the first step towards acceptance. - donloper, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12Sounds like you're describing CNN, ABC, CBS, NPR, The New York Times, and just about every other mainstream news organization. It's interesting how those news outlets can invent their own version of the news to satisfy their liberal agenda and nobody seems to mind. As soon as something comes out that doesn't agree with the way liberals want to see the world then they start to squeal. If this documentary supported a liberal viewpoint and conservatives were complaining about accuracy (i.e. Michael Moore) the liberals would be up in arms about freedom of speech, artistic expression, and would be saying it's all fact.
- helix400, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14Any major media outlet which fictionalizes scenes and treats it as adocumentary is dangerous to the country. Yes, they put a legal disclaimer saying "This is not a documentary", but very few people are going to know what parts are true and what parts aren't. So if they can't tell, whats the point at all? It's a bunch of inaccurate garbage filled with half truths and lies, and only those who know the topic better than the documentary itself will be able to determine which is which.
- apeguero, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8There's no way to properly document or dramatize this event without pissing off the Bush haters or the Bush Lovers. It's a damned shame this country has gotten this rotten where everything has to be either left or right!
I only got to see the one that aired last night. I think the best part of it was when the Latino Customs Officer rejected entry to the Arabian visitor and completely dissed his pussy-ass supervisor who threatened him with reprisals.
That is partially the problem with this country where people are afraid to follow their instinct anymore because of fear of braking some sort of Political Correctness law or offending certain people or of being sued. Now, notice I said partially the problem and not the whole problem.
It's too bad it really happened and that so many innocent people died. The question is though, do you think this would've been a big hit in the movie theaters had 9/11 not happened at all? - 10ksnooker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Truth about Democrats is never good for the country.
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8You are confusing ABC with ABC News.
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Let me tell you whats not good for our country. When you have the asshat Media with stories such as 'there is a big pile of fertilizer, enough to blow up a block, 2 blocks from the White-house".
When the media reports these stories, that is giving the fox the key to the hen house. Don't they realize that Terrorists watch TV, listen to radios, etc?
That's like when Heraldo Riviera was broadcasting on a video phone, when told not to, and basically reported were he was with the troops. Hmm... meanwhile the terrorists were listening and watching.."Oh I know that rock formation, I know where they are at!" - Terrorist. Thats why Heraldo was dismissed from traveling with the Troops...
Now you have ABC last night right after this movie, with special reports on where the material to make a bomb is, and how easy it was to get it. - davenp35, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm glad you liberals know more than the common man and can censure what people see to save them from themselves. Rediculous!
- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7"The danger comes from the number of people who read the message and what message is broadcast. MM is commonly brought onto FOX news to give her opinion, which is where her blogging becomes a danger."
The only real 'danger' appears to be that someone is speaking an opinion that is contrary to your point of view.
And, I know what MM's message is. I don't need you to paraphrase it for me.
I believe in criticism of anyone who crosses the line regardless of their culture, race, nationality, religion, or political standing.
After this very long and intellectually crippling era of 'political correctness' that has censored people from speaking out against poor behavior, I find MM's bold criticism rather refreshing.
I disagree with MM on quite a few issues, but I don't find her opinions dangerous. Again, I'm not frightened differing views.
I hardly find it dangerous that anyone fails to respect a culture that has oppressed and murdered itself within a self imposed dark age for centuries. Especially when that culture allows its radical elements to openly butcher and hold civilized cultures hostage with undeniably barbaric and illegal methods.
Murder and blackmail is dangerous. Placing blame for it is not. - network, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Do you read popular mechanics? They've taken just about every "government controlled demolition" theory, and totally debunked them. I guess that means Popular mechanics must be in Bush's pocket huh? Read the title "P o p u l a r M e c h a n i c s". Probably one of the most knowledgeable sources out there in my opinion. I saw one of those loony conspiracy theory guys on the new the other night. He said Elvis was still alive as well.
- xenuxenuts, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6which is why the time to strike is now, before they do.
- uttles, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I guess we should always just wait until Americans die before we do anything, right?
... oh wait, Americans had already died, USS Cole, American Embassies, etc. - labmouse42, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9@donloper
Actually if your reivew Helix's posts, you will see that hes a conservative.
It seems that perhaps its not just liberals that are angry that this fiction is being played. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I'm sure events from Watergate, the Kennedy assassination, WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Pearl Harbor, Columbine, etc. were skewed in the countless movies/games that were released concerning those events as well, however, it seems like the media waited at least a decade before they started screwing around with them.
- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Hey, 'warnings' usually involve some sort of 'danger.'
I see nothing 'dangerous' with bloggers doing their thing on the internet from either side of the aisle.
It demonstrates the new found power of the people.
Access to differing points of view is NOT dangerous for anyone, regardless of how much one side paints the other as such. - BigBaRay, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Its not about right or left
Its about right or wrong.
(Cheap one liner, sorry) - hornfinger, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Next he'll say they should ban mirrors because they confuse cats
- TubaTechno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Iraq has Weapons of Mass Destruction
Brought to you by the GOP"
Are you intentionally tring to mislead those who don't know any better? This was brough from the intelligence community, not from the republicans. Your ***** will not be tolerated here. - greymaxcat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6I blame Monica for distracting Bill...
- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3As long as findings like the one below continue to surface, I'm going to continue to be critical of Islamic culture.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,22989-1791887,00.html
And this is in ENGLAND. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to imagine what the statistics are elsewhere in the world. - Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hatred?
Not really. You can't dismiss my statements as hate speech so easily. The standard condemnations that have kept the general public in an intellectually crippled state of 'political correctness' won't work with me.
When speaking of culture, it does lump Muslims together into one big group, but criticism of their culture isn't hatred of individual Muslims or the religion itself.
Anyone with an above average knowledge of history knows the Middle Eastern culture of Islam has one hell of a bloody path that extends well into the modern age.
Acknowledgment and criticism of that culture or its history of oppression and violence is not hatred.
When twenty five percent of modern Muslims in Great Britain are sympathetic with butchers and murderers, it is easy to imagine the levels of support for violent means in less civilized areas.
As long as murdering terrorists are being harbored and protected from justice all over the planet instead of being turned in to authorities, I'm going to be critical of Islam.
The tip off of the latest plot in England is a sign of hope. I pray that all Muslims everywhere follow this example. - bemenaker, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6What secret programs? And lieing to American public is wrong period.
- steinbeckgirl, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5No they didn't, I saw the previews call it a docudrama. Unfortunetly, people arent wise enough not to get their information anywhere but t.v. By the way Lee Hamilton is from here in Indiana, and although we are a red state (sobbing) we love him here because of his integrity
- oddmanout, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7ok, but when clinton had him, he hadn't yet orchestrated any attacks on US soil. Now all the pro-bush people say he had him and let him go.... ok.... Bush isn't even looking for him, he basically said he doesn't care anymore..... obviously he can do whatever he wants, bush quit looking for him... so whats YOUR point?
- oddmanout, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7people don't go to war and kill each other over confused cats.
- TubaTechno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The UN sactions failed. GO GO GO GO!!
- eggsngrits, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5No no no. You have it wrong. Allow me to re-educate you.
Conservatives are evil, stupid, nazi liars.
Liberals, on the other hand, are always correct, incredibly tolerant of everyone, and perfect in every way.
got it? - Dred, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@labmouse, although you try to sound really intelligent in your comments you are either misled or trying to mislead. 20,000 Iraqis dead since the US took power. Lets examine that statement how many were killed by their own leader before the US took power? How many were killed by Iraqis after the US took power? How many were killed by insurgents after the US took power? Do not be quick to blame the US solely for the deaths of Iraqis since the US took power. They are killing there own and anyone else that does not believe the way they do. This has been happening long before the US had any involvement with Iraq. People forget so quickly about the past, remember the Kurds? The one thing that both sides (Democrat or Republican) should know is that the US has to finish what it started otherwise what happened on 9/11 will happen all over again. Stabilize them it can be done if the US stays the course. Bin Laden is hoping the US won't.
- BigBaRay, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Democrat party sent to ABC
The same people who bought into "I did not have sex with that woman" and expected us to believe them.
Anyhow I wasn't asking the Democrats what their spin/coverup/propaganda was I am asking people what they know or think. - witte, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Terrorists aren't 'good for the country' either.
- wackyg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Heaven forbid the Clintons be shown truthfully
- TubaTechno, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Police state? Where?
- oddmanout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haha... no problem, always willing to put my math skills to good use
- TubaTechno, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3We can't let any else present America with false or true information because we're afraid the the American population is too stupid to think for themselves. We don't want to be educated them either, because that way we can always play the "they're too stupid to know the truth" card. Which allows us to spoon feed them what we think is right and since they're uneducated, they won't know the difference.
- davenp35, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Once again I'm glad you libs are here to straighten it our for everyone ele. Bow down to the omnipotent libs.
- geometry, on 10/12/2007, -12/+12Didn't see it. If I wanted to watch a Docu-Drama I'd watch Fox "News".
