What better place than here?
What better time than now? - kitsua, on 06/20/2009, -1/+66I support the people of Iran. For them to overthrow tyranny by pure power of the people would change the world overnight.
- sockpuppets, on 06/20/2009, -1/+45I'm mentally carpet bombing them with kindness right now.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 06/20/2009, -2/+38Freedom loving American Colonists never would have succeeded without support from the French.
- bakaoni, on 06/20/2009, -3/+37Tiananmen is an interesting comparison. It took China about 10 years since then to start to change, but it wasn't to democracy, though it was to economic freedom. I think Iran might be the same thing, where the Islamic Revolution is still in charge, but will liberalise some things to suit the young people.
As far as the regime change coming from within and the young people of Iran, I've met lots of Iranian ex-pats and they are very much like Americans or any other modern, liberal society. It's just their leadership. It's not a question of "if", but "when" with change. There are too many people who don't want a repressive gov't that no amount of fake elections, guns, armies, militias, etc can stop them.
And those signs in English? They do want us to see. They want us to know they are just like us, they want peace and freedom and are going to be taking a seat at our table soon enough. It's not a cry for help. It's not weakness. It's a message. It's their time. - CivicTV, on 08/14/2009, -6/+35As much as I dislike MrBabyMan and bury his submissions religiously. This is one I will not be, this is to ***** important, thank you MrBabyMan.

Iran needs media attention. - inactive, on 06/21/2009, -1/+28Americans need to stay the hell out of it.
The Ayatollah is wishing for Americans to do something stupid so he can rally the people against the Great Satan just like he did in the good old days. - JasonCox, on 06/21/2009, -4/+27Let's also be clear we don't need another 'black war' funded covertly by the CIA.

Transmission third world war third round
A decade of the weapon of sound above ground
No shelter if you're lookin' for shade
I lick shots at the brutal charade
As the polls close like a casket
On truth devoured
A Silent play in the shadow of power
A spectacle monopolized
The camera's eyes on choice disguised
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
Yes a spectacle monopolized
They hold the reins and stole your eyes
Or the fistagons
The bullets and bombs
Who stuff the banks
Who staff the party ranks
More for Gore or the son of a drug lord
None of the above ***** it cut the cord

The perfect band for any revolution. - HuoXin, on 06/21/2009, -0/+22Is that "70% of Iranians are under the age of 30" stat true? I had no idea..
- ebcreasoner, on 06/21/2009, -0/+19I love the smell of kindness in the morning!
- KSUdesigner, on 06/21/2009, -1/+18Any government who attempts to send in their military is being extremely foolish. This is an internal problem, it needs to be figured out by the people of Iran. Nothing good can come from sending a military into that situation. Keep the lines of communication open and let them sort it out themselves.
- DouglasQ, on 06/21/2009, -4/+20and you have my bow.
- SpookyET, on 06/21/2009, -3/+19I'll give just ONE reason, NEDA: http://digg.com/d1uOW5
- DangerCollie, on 06/21/2009, -8/+24Why is it people think we have to stick our nose in another countries internal affairs all the time?
Here's a thought. How about we just let them sort out their own business for a change? Does it ever dawn on anyone they don't need our help and don't want our help?
You'd think we would have learned by now. BUTT OUT - zdwade, on 06/21/2009, -1/+16irans problems are the Iranians problems. commerce with all entangling alliances with none. i support democracy but people have to do it on their on. self determination is the greatest gift.
- dpbBryan, on 06/21/2009, -6/+21You have my sword.
- darkbook, on 06/21/2009, -2/+17The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.
Thomas Jefferson - Falldog, on 06/21/2009, -0/+14I hope this goes a lot better than the Tiananmen protests. Even now Chinese citizens are scared ***** to talk to western media organizations about it for fear of government reprisals.
- macfan93, on 06/21/2009, -0/+14The Iranian people do not want a revolution. They just want a redo on the election so that the person that they voted for can actually win. However, if Mousavi is killed, a revolution will almost certainly be attempted.
- ap66crush, on 06/20/2009, -8/+22its none of our business...the truth hurts, but just it is no other countries business to influence the outcome of our elections, we must let the people have their victory their on their own
- adnroy, on 06/20/2009, -3/+16Whatever your thoughts on the subject, it's essential that we not let this slip under the news radar. People can have a very short attention span sometimes.
- inactive, on 06/21/2009, -1/+13This is so exciting! Keep the pressure on, Iranian citizens! Do not let up, fight like you have nothing left. If you let up, you will truly have nothing left.
I can't wait for our turn to take back our country. - inactive, on 06/21/2009, -8/+20And you both sound super gay.
- inactive, on 06/21/2009, -1/+13Tanks are very effective at crushing crowds, setting road blocks, and herding protesters among other uses.

Sorry, but you've got your facts mixed up: The 1989 Tienanmen Square demonstration was the result, not the cause, of the economic reforms which began ten years earlier in 1979. - signul, on 06/21/2009, -2/+11Tanks have begun rolling into Tehran. It's on kids.
http://twitter.com/austinheap/status/2258815564 - oldhick, on 06/21/2009, -1/+10Explain the German aspect to me.... The Germans fought against the Colonials. The Hessian army made up over a third of the British force in America.
- oldhick, on 06/21/2009, -0/+9I agree that not much information is getting out. I agree that twitter has been extremely useful for dissemenating information from within Iran. But a tweet account with one tweet isn't reliable and for that matter, nothing I read on twitter do I accept as fact or rely on in any way until it's verified later.
Just reminding people to be cautious! - lilbitmoreslyk, on 06/21/2009, -0/+9I agree. Its just like the author said, "in Iran, the single biggest subject that unifies the most radical sects of the government is “outside power”, i.e. America vying for influence".
So the more we butt in the more power we give to people like Ahmadinejad. - jeremymccurdy, on 06/21/2009, -0/+9There have been other account of people seeing tanks, but nothing has been actually confirmed. As of right now, the most reliable information has been that the military are on standby and no one knows who they'll support, it could be the goverment, or they could stand with the people.
- inactive, on 06/21/2009, -0/+9Why not? That's exactly what is going to happen unless the protesters get the military on their side. Otherwise, the protesters will be crushed and the massacre will be denied. Sad but true. I'm sure the Iranian government learned how to squash a protest by watching the Chinese. The formula is very simple. A swift, brutal response followed by a denial.
- ZenMojo, on 06/21/2009, -0/+9Darfur anybody?
- oldhick, on 06/21/2009, -5/+14That's fundamentally ridiculous. We all share this planet and everything is everyone's "business". I'm not saying we should be engaging in any sort of militaristic action, but it is certainly the worlds business and the world should most certainly be voicing their opinions.
- k1prime, on 06/21/2009, -1/+10This video is extremely disturbing. Someone was there with a camera when this young girl died right next to her father after being shot by pro-gov't militia in Tehran.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrdRwOlmIxI
This is what CNN refused to show due to it's highly disturbing nature.
The Iranian people just want the world to watch what serious ***** is going on in Iran. - oldhick, on 06/21/2009, -0/+9It's official because of a tweet? Nice...
- ASSASSYN360, on 06/21/2009, -2/+11I didn't get a sword...I just got this holster thingy.
- DouglasQ, on 06/21/2009, -3/+11Yeah, they ***** love us...
- DouglasQ, on 06/21/2009, -1/+9You might literally be the only person on Earth who believes that.
- jeremymccurdy, on 06/21/2009, -2/+10Man, you really gotta try harder at trolling. Make it seem like you're providing a crazy statement that people can believe you believe.
- shig, on 06/21/2009, -3/+11Not only did Mousavi help create Hezbollah, he was the CIA's quid pro quo in Tehran during the arms-for-hostages deal. I don't support him, the Ayatollah, the CIA, Ahmedinejad, Hezbollah, Reagan, North...
Ah, who cares? I'll give the CIA two-thumbs up this time. Hell of a puppet show, guys. - inactive, on 06/21/2009, -0/+8Why would peaceful demonstrators need weapons?
- odkin, on 06/21/2009, -0/+8There's a difference between freedom-loving nationalists risking their lives, and spoiled utopian anarchist ingrates.
- bakaoni, on 06/20/2009, -2/+10No, we would let them earn their freedom.
As Americans, we appreciate our freedom because of the price we paid for it. We hate the French, yet the French did quite a lot in helping us secure our freedom. But the people we remember most are ourselves.
The more that Iranians secure their future for themselves by their own actions, the better their gov't will be. Think about it. - nighthwk1, on 06/21/2009, -0/+7There is a difference between the support of the American government, and the support of the American people.
US citizens can obviously tell the difference between the Iranian government and it's people, so give them a little credit. - ZenMojo, on 06/21/2009, -1/+8The problem with that story is we have no idea if Neda was the victim of a rogue gunman or an actual member of the Basij. This was nowhere near the protests, and seems to be a seemingly uninvolved victim who was specifically targeted during a period of anarchy.
What better opportunity to kill someone you personally hate than under cover of a government crackdown? The government looks bad enough without it, don't start grasping at straws and martyrs.
Remember: Just because it COULD be doesn't mean it IS. Don't turn your brains off just because the cause is just, that just makes you a zealot.
Keep in mind also that mobs of anti-government protesters have been beating unarmed pro-government people into the pavement. Are THEY representative of the movement? Just think, people. - ASSASSYN360, on 06/21/2009, -2/+9Plus their women are HOT!
- ebcreasoner, on 06/21/2009, -1/+8You know... I don't like RATM as much as the next guy, but... you're an idiot.
