- neave, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1931981–1989 Ronald Reagan (vice president George H. W. Bush)
1989–1993 George H. W. Bush
1993–2001 Bill Clinton
2001–2009 George W. Bush
2009-2017 (Hillary Clinton?)
If you include George Bush Snr's vice presidency, this could end up being 36 years of presidential nepotism! Time for a change, maybe? - flernk, on 10/12/2007, -34/+212I'm just tired of the political oligarchy. It's Obama in '08 for me. We need a change and we need it quick.
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -21/+188Don't you mean '08ama?
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/11/2008, -10/+68The really interesting thing to look at is the Rumsfeld, Cheney, Bush Sr, etc. camp. Administration after administration for the past 40 years, these are the same scumbags who gave Saddam the weapons he used to gas his own people (yeah, OUR weapons) then bombed him in the Gulf, then came back with the current trumped up war for profit. Over and over again, from Noriega to Iran-Contra to Iraq, the same handful of men have been responsible for creating all of these dictatorial messes and then having to clean them up when they (invariably) go crazy mad with power. And we're paying for it over and over again.
- rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+61I hear you don't.
- calculus, on 10/12/2007, -20/+78Obama '08
- lansuggs, on 10/12/2007, -45/+98What was wrong with Bill Clinton? I thought he was a good president, and well liked. And at least he had some sort of head on his shoulders. If the only thing he ever did wrong was get some...
- thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -4/+47Doesn't Nepotism generally imply that the family relative put that person into a position of power... not the electorate?
- TomFrost, on 10/12/2007, -4/+47"how about anyone but a Republican"
That's the mentality that got so many states in trouble in the last election, though. Waves of candidates ran on the campaign "It's time for a change!" and did everything they could to separate themselves from Bush, and Democrats pushed that to a level that supported the Democratic party more than the individual candidate's goal.
"We've had enough of George W. Bush. Vote for me, it's time for a change!"
"Well, what do you plan to change?"
"I.. uhh.. I mean, I plan to be different from George Bush!"
"Ok, but.. how?"
"Uhh.. by changing!"
If you completely rule one party out of the question, they you're opening the floodgates for this kind of mentality to win over. I'd rather see another republican in office who recognizes the errors, has a solid plan, and will work to fix things then a Democrat with no plan, riding on the "I'm not like George Bush!" platform the whole way. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+42If we elect Obama, would that make us an Obama-nation?
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37Just be sure to post the video so we know it happened.
- flernk, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33Sorry to break it to you, but the Evangelical Right will never elect a Mormon.
- jazh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27And go where? Don't forget that most of the world is well "left"/socialist than the USA.
- parislemon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28Good point. Plus, even though Jeb says he doesn't see himself ever running, I believe his son is getting pretty heavy into politics at a young age...maybe he's eyeing a 2016 run.....a bit too early to tell :)
- wickedlogic, on 10/12/2007, -11/+34Get a libertarian in office, there are more than 2 parties.
http://www.lp.org - FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24probably wherever all those Hollywood types moved when they said they would leave the country if Bush was elected.
They did leave, right? - loof, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24I'd vote for Conan the Librarian.
- Joab, on 10/12/2007, -13/+35Its time to end the neo-royal lines from monopolizing our government.
- calhounie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Interesting that a Nixon, Dole or Bush has appeared on all but one of the last 14 Republican presidential tickets:
1952 - Eisenhower/NIXON
1956 - Eisenhower/NIXON
1960 - NIXON/Lodge
1964 - Goldwater/Miller
1968 - NIXON/Agnew
1972 - NIXON/Agnew
1976 - Ford/DOLE
1980 - Reagan/BUSH
1984 - Reagan/BUSH
1988 - BUSH/Quayle
1992 - BUSH/Quayle
1996 - DOLE/Kemp
2000 - BUSH/Cheney
2004 - BUSH/Cheney - Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19@ tulsakev
Yeah it's because I'm afraid of a woman in power...or that I was pretty turned off by the Watergate Scandal. Or because Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has a pretty great track record when it comes to women. Or because she's painting herself as a moderate when she has never been and never will be.
Also, I live in New York State. She's had no significant impact on public education in New York City or the surrounding community. Basically, she's been useless since being elected Senator - theturnmaster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22exactly, let's start cutting out the fat in the government and let it focus on what it should be protecting...
our rights. - noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21"the controlled media loves [Obama] way to much for him to be trustable"
Wha? - TheUngod, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17I'm from MA...we hate him. Ever since he decided he has a shot at being president he's been extremely conservative, whereas before he was much more moderate. He's definitely another flip flopper from here. Whatever furthers his political agenda I guess.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21Hillary Clinton will never win.
- JonForTheWin, on 10/12/2007, -20/+34We need Ron Paul!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Yeah, like all the guys who said they'd move to Canada if Bush got elected.....both times.
- infimprob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13This is the direct result of polarizing politics. It's turned the political circus into high school all over again.
- Jwoey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12yea i was thinking that myself, seeing as how 'saggyness' is a terrible quality in a leader.
- ht70, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12I think I'm going to take a close look at all the major candidates rather than choose one simply because he/she is incredibly charismatic.
- hansonc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12ether will any non-Mormon in UT... but then again I'm not sure we're allowed to actually vote here anyway
- KanosWRX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10The last paragraph sums it all up nicely. I will tell you right now the person I vote for will be the person running against H. Clinton.
"The nation needs today, as it got in Ford then, a president respected by both Republicans and Democrats who can restore trust in politics. It needs new faces and new ideas if it is to confront advancing crises of war, debt and entitlement reform. And it needs a president who can assume office in 2009 swimming in the political capital that only a mandate can bring. The nation needs a candidate who can win 55% or more.
And that will not happen with a Bush or Clinton on the ballot." - Bleeblaow, on 10/12/2007, -9/+18Well, she's a bitch. I don't like her simply over the fact that she went ***** about video games. Wasn't she one of the people leading the crusade against Grand Theft Auto because of the "Hot Coffee" mod?
- ProximaC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Funny, I always thought watergate was about Richard Nixon. Or do you mean whitewater? Or do you even know what you mean?
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11And pull games off the shelf because she feels the government should parent our homes. She can choke on a copy of Grand Theft Auto for all I care.
- deesnutz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12It's time to break this chain of power that's why I'm voting for Barack Obama in 2008!
Help spread the word and show your support. http://www.bobama.com - webdevil, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11@xGORDOx
What exactly does he need more experience in? - D1STORT, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11@parislemon
It would be a sad, dark day in history if we ever saw another Bush manage to weasel his way into the White House. Personally, I don't think I could take another Bush administration. I'd probably end up living in a cave with Syd Barret. - washingtonydc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10you must have missed the stories on him doing blow, his name being Osama Hussein, and him being schooled in madrassas. Regardless of what's the truth or not, Obama has been getting negative press lately (but yes, of course it will only increase as time goes on. I just hope he doesn't have a Gary Hart moment).
- washingtonydc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9it's not even the mormon thing that gets the evangelicals riled up. it's that he's flip-flopped on his stance toward gay rights and whatnot--in his 94 senate race, he tried to court the GLBT community.
http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2006/12/08/romneys_94_remarks_on_same_sex_marriage_could_haunt_him/ - Afreyt, on 10/12/2007, -9/+17anyone but a librarian.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8All you need to know about Hillary Clinton is this:
Voted for the patriot act? check.
Voted for the War in Iraq? check.
I don't care what race/age/gender a candidate is. I don't care what they say. I care how they VOTE- and you should too. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10RON PAUL for rights restoration.
- Valarauka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The funny thing is the kinds of ridiculous measures they've resorted to in their smear attempts really makes it obvious they can't find anything even halfway reasonable to smear him with.
- nayr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Romney doesn't stand a chance.
I'm a fifteen year old, living in masachusetts. He cut funding for our school. We now have no electives, AP courses, and extra-curricular activiteis cost $100. Democrats won't vote for him (he's a republican), and republicans won't either (he's from mass, and allowe dthe gay marriage bill to pass through).
If he gets elected, I'm moving to canada. - TheRealM3D, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7*Agrees with Libertarian sentiments*
It's time to clean house. The neo-cons and the hard libs are tearing the country apart while splitting hairs. Meanwhile they are both spending ridiculous amounts of money to build the central government into something the constitution never intended it to be. The liberals want the central government to have more power over your money, how you raise your kids, where you get medication, etc... The conservatives want to give the executive branch unprecidented power to control the military and foreign affairs. It's all absurd. It's time to kill off the special interests. It's time to cut back the federal government and give power back to the states, to local government and back to the people.
Regardless of what political side you're generally on, the Libertarians have a good platform. Vote third party. Republicans and Democrats have failed America's people already. It's time to try something different. - Fengpost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Well, the dynastic rule happened long before the Bush rule. It seems most of the U.S. persidents are related!

Using children as an excuse for censorship is a very big cop-out. - chriso1281, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I'm a lifelong Democrat, and I have the same reaction to a Hillary Clinton presidency. I have plenty of great things to say about her.
But I fear that, because of how polarizing a figure she is, she will end up playing the same role that W. has: a divider, not a uniter. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm already getting dugg down. Yikes.
Are naysayers suggesting that the Patriot Act and Iraq War II were good things?
I am so fed up with the old "you hate her for being female" nonsense. I don't hate Hillary Clinton- I don't even know her- but I disagree with voting record. I see generic109 getting the same treatment- simply for revealing unbiased fact.
Bah! I'm not going to change anyones mind by posting to Digg. But sometimes I wish that I could. - noamsml, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Alternatively, we need a president who knows to disrespect both republicans and democrats. Frankly, I'm tired of thinking in terms of two-party politics. We need to start voting independents, greens, and libertarians in.
