"Elect" Bush
"The only difference between Bush and Hitler? Hitler was elected!" - Gore Vidal - iching, on 12/05/2007, -8/+80“Education is dangerous - Every educated person is a future enemy”
Hermann Goering
“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
Hermann Goering
“We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war.”
Ann Coulter
“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it”
Adolf Hitler
“I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator”
Adolf Hitler
"I feel like God wants me to run for President. I can't explain it, but I sense my country is going to need me. Something is going to happen... I know it won't be easy on me or my family, but God wants me to do it."
--George W. Bush commenting to Texas evangelist James Robinson in the run-up to his presidential campaign
"Redefining the role of the United States from enablers to keep the peace to enablers to keep the peace from peacekeepers is going to be an assignment." - Jan. 14, 2001
George Bush - Calann, on 12/05/2007, -4/+59Terrorist cannot take our freedoms, they can only frighten us into allowing our politicians to take our freedoms.
- rpi22, on 12/05/2007, -1/+43Habeas Corpus, free speech zones, right not to be tortured, 4th amendment via NSA wiretapping, 6th amendment via gitmo, the list keeps going but i dont think you can count any higher.
- brentinkc, on 12/05/2007, -4/+34It's a dupe, but I dug it anyway because you need to read it
- rpi22, on 12/05/2007, -1/+31Try telling that to Jose Padilla, an american citizen who is locked up indefinitely on vague charges that he might once have maybe possibly thought about supposedly something to do with a dirty bomb.
- WisR, on 12/05/2007, -5/+30This story is necessary to see and read no matter how many times it has made it to the front page. Got liberty?
- inactive, on 12/05/2007, -4/+23and bush's grandfather was hitlers main agent in the u.s. and they tried to set up dictatorship here in the 30s. looks like theyre gonna get it this time
- Waiting2awake, on 12/05/2007, -1/+19And with the above reply you show yourself to be the enemy. Good work dufus.
- rpi22, on 12/05/2007, -1/+18He has not been charged with any crime. This used to be a civilized society that was governed by the rule of law. The burden of proof is on the state to prove him guilty. He is innocent until proven guilty. If he has done something wrong, charge him and send him to trial and let him have his day in court. If they can't charge him with anything they should let him go. The fact that he hasnt stood trial is evidence that they cant prove he has done anything wrong, because he probably hasn't. If you suspect him of planning a crime but cant prove it, keep him under surveillance until you find evidence he has done something wrong. Maybe he is a douche, maybe he isnt... even OJ had his day in court and now he walks among us, at least until he ***** up again...

- RuffRidr, on 12/05/2007, -5/+2111. Disarm the populace.
- sammythemc, on 12/05/2007, -2/+15This may seem nitpicky, but I'm not trying to call you or Gore Vidal an idiot or anything like that, because the point about Bush certainly stands. Anyway, Hitler wasn't technically elected. The Nazis were a broad coalition of opposition groups, and they held a plurality in the Reichstag in '33 when Hitler, who had politicked his way to the top of that party, was appointed by the aging Hindenburg. He wasn't personally elected, but his views were certainly endorsed by the electorate. If I'm wrong on any of this, feel free to correct me. With swear words.

- yikiad, on 12/05/2007, -1/+10can you say patriot act?
- Corrosionx, on 12/05/2007, -2/+9@Wargalas: Oh yeah he confessed to some crimes that he wasn't actually picked up for, after years of torture. Real credible there.
- Acewrap, on 12/05/2007, -0/+7Just because you stick your penis in your McDonald's fries does not make you a dictator.
- powatom, on 12/05/2007, -1/+8Why should that matter?
- Balath, on 12/05/2007, -2/+9Don't worry, Victrola, I caught your sarcasm, even if 9/10 people didn't and buried your comment, I dugg it.
- objectcode, on 12/05/2007, -2/+9you cant name any right. oh wait you can? well you can name any americans. oh wait you can? you cant tell me i'm a retard. oh wait...
- Balath, on 12/05/2007, -10/+16Buried for 1) being old, 2) being on here several weeks ago, and 3) being on here several months ago.
Yes, we've seen it already. - objectcode, on 12/05/2007, -1/+7by get a life, he means count how many times a story gets posted and let people know they need to get a life
- bullcutter, on 12/05/2007, -3/+9wow, you make way too much sense for Digg -- buried!
- VitriolAndAngst, on 12/05/2007, -0/+6My apologies.
But these are actions of a government -- not the people. They lie to us as well.
I first became aware of this in "Confessions of an Economic Hitman." But our voting system is a farce -- it's going to take a while to correct if it can be corrected peacefully at all. - wizbor, on 12/05/2007, -2/+8Well there's something to this. Its exactly the steps Clinton took. Remember Ruby Ridge, Waco! Killing his own citizens in the name of children. He's even said he should be allowed to run again. Said part is people agree.
- mstoneburner, on 12/05/2007, -1/+6are you kidding? this gets re-posted in a different form every fifteen minutes!
fixed that for ya. - Sprung, on 12/05/2007, -1/+6I'm gonna resist the urge to reply sarcastically and rebut your post straight-up:
Look at Iraq or Vietnam. A sufficiently armed populous can hold out for a long time against a professional military.
It's not about being able to defeat the military but about making complete suppression of the populous so obviously difficult and costly that those in charge would probably never chance it and if they ever did it would take so ridiculously long to obtain complete compliance that military personnel would have a lot of time to rethink their allegiances. - Corrosionx, on 12/05/2007, -4/+9It isn't just Bush, it's the power the office now holds, the loss of checks and balances, and the harm someone even worse than Bush could do if he got his hands on that power.
- Zuljin, on 12/05/2007, -9/+14Really, this whole business is stupid. You can hate Bush, ask for impeachment, all that, but he's not even trying to become a dictator. When his term runs out, he'll step down. Even if you think the average American is some sort of right-wing brain-dead hick, at least realize that even they wouldn't stand for him for a second if he tried anything.
- Axeman2063, on 12/05/2007, -7/+12this is easily the third or fourth article I've seen on digg with basically the same content. Buried.

"Anatomy Of Your Enemy"
10 easy steps to create an enemy and start a war:
Listen closely because we will all see this weapon used in our lives.
It can be used on a society of the most ignorant to the most highly educated.
We need to see their tactics as a weapon against humanity and not as truth.
First step: create the enemy. Sometimes this will be done for you.
Second step: be sure the enemy you have chosen is nothing like you.
Find obvious differences like race, language, religion, dietary habits
fashion. Emphasize that their soldiers are not doing a job,
they are heartless murderers who enjoy killing!
Third step: Once these differences are established continue to reinforce them
with all disseminated information.
Fourth step: Have the media broadcast only the ruling party's information
this can be done through state run media.
Remember, in times of conflict all for-profit media repeats the ruling party's information.
Therefore all for-profit media becomes state-run.
Fifth step: show this enemy in actions that seem strange, militant, or different.
Always portray the enemy as non-human, evil, a killing machine.
[Chorus:]
THIS IS HOW TO CREATE AN ENEMY. THIS IS HOW TO START A WAR.
THIS IS HOW TO CREATE AN ENEMY.
Sixth step: Eliminate opposition to the ruling party.
Create an "Us versus Them" mentality. Leave no room for opinions in between.
One that does not support all actions of the ruling party should be considered a traitor.
Seventh step: Use nationalistic and/or religious symbols and rhetoric to define all actions.
This can be achieved by slogans such as "freedom loving people versus those who hate freedom."
This can also be achieved by the use of flags.
Eighth step: Align all actions with the dominant deity.
It is very effective to use terms like, "It is god's will" or "god bless our nation."
Ninth step: Design propaganda to show that your soldiers
have feelings, hopes, families, and loved ones.
Make it clear that your soldiers are doing a duty; they do not want or like to kill.
Tenth step: Create and atmosphere of fear, and instability
and then offer the ruling party as the only solutions to comfort the public's fears.
Remembering the fear of the unknown is always the strongest fear.
[Chorus (repeat)]
We are not countries. We are not nations. We are not religions.
We are not gods. We are not weapons. We are not ammunition. We are not killers.
We will NOT be tools.
Mother *****
I will not die
I will not kill
I will not be your slave
I will not fight your battle
I will not die on your battlefield
I will not fight for your wealth
I am not a fighter
I am a human being!!! - protium, on 12/05/2007, -0/+4Jeb is that you?
- Bhima, on 12/05/2007, -5/+9Man, I mostly agree with you but there is a error here: Free Speech Zones are something created during the presidency of Bill Clinton for college campuses. And I think you left out the right to vote.
- minox, on 12/05/2007, -1/+5You are misusing the word "prescient."

- jerryudigg, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3I think she is saying, always vote for Democrats. If the Democrats control the House and Senate and most courts how is the government pulling this off? They must be helping.....
- inactive, on 12/05/2007, -2/+5Read Orson Scott Card's "Empire" for a genuinely cautionary tale that doubles as a good action thriller.
- Zomgondo, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3Wrong. You disarm the opposition - but you arm your supporters to the teeth. That's what Hitler did.
- mstoneburner, on 12/05/2007, -5/+8When GWB steps down when his term is over I am just going to laugh and laugh at the Tinfoil Jockeys.
