Active Digging Technology

Like all democracies, Digg works best with ongoing participation. So we've added something called Active Digging Technology for the podcasting section.

If you Digg a podcast once but don't Digg again within two weeks, your Digg gets subtracted from the count. (It does not get removed from your profile.) However, as soon as you participate anywhere on the site, your initial Digg is returned to the count.

What's Digg Podcasting?

Digg Podcasting is a one-stop destination for discovering, Digging, discussing, and sharing the podcasts and podcast episodes that you like. Digg Podcasting provides all of the benefits of the other sections of Digg, but with features specific to podcasts and the related podcast episodes. What you can do:

  1. See the most popular podcasts.

The podcasting homepage lists the most popular podcasts on Digg, in order of popularity. Podcasts are divided into several categories (Comedy, Gaming, Health, etc.), with the default view displaying all podcasts. The podcast with the most Diggs appears at the top, followed by the podcast with the second-highest Digg count, etc. Also on this page, in the "Your Friends Dugg" section, you'll find a list of Up and Coming podcasts, which have recently been Dugg by a number of people. If you want to check out a podcast, click on the title to access that podcast's page.

  2. Listen to/watch podcasts.

Almost every podcast episode on Digg has a "listen" or "watch" button. (If it doesn't, you'll see a link to download the episode.) To access episodes within a podcast, click the podcast title, and you'll see an individual podcast page. The title of the podcast is displayed at the top; below that, episodes are listed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent at the top. On the right side of the page, you'll see a list of the most popular episodes of that particular podcast.

  3. Digg podcasts and episodes.

Let your friends (and the world) know what's good by Digging the podcasts and episodes you like best. To Digg a podcast, click "digg it" below the current count. To Digg an episode, first access the individual podcast page by clicking on the podcast title. Then you'll see the episodes, listed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent on top. (A list of most popular episodes is on the right.)

  4. Discuss podcasts and episodes.

Like a podcast? Have opinions about particular episodes? Add your comments to podcasts and episodes after you listen or watch. To comment on podcasts and episodes, first access the individual podcast page by clicking on the podcast title. Then you'll see the episodes, listed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent on top. (A list of most popular episodes is on the right.)

Digg posts episodes as they're published, so remember to keep Digging and commenting on episodes as they appear.

  5. Track your friends' Diggs.

Whenever you Digg a podcast or episode, your Digg appears in your profile, where you and your friends can view it. So they can track what you Digg—and you can track what they Digg, when you click the "My Friends" tab within your profile.

On any episode page, you can view a list of all the Diggs for that episode by clicking the "Who Dugg This Episode?" tab.

  6. Find a podcast.

From the podcasting homepage enter the title of the podcast you want to find in the field on the right side of the screen. Once you find your podcast, you can Digg it, watch/listen to it, Digg individual episodes, and comment on episodes. Digg posts new episodes as they air, so remember to keep Digging and commenting as episodes are published.

Can't find your podcast on Digg? Add it (see how, below).

  7. Add new podcasts.

Share your favorite podcasts with the Digg community (and the world) by adding them to Digg. First, search Digg to make sure that your podcast hasn't already been added. (See "Find a Podcast" above.) Then, from the podcasting homepage, click the "Add New Podcast" tab. Submit the RSS feed, or the url of a page with the feed, for the podcast you want to share.

Once you add a podcast, Digg keeps it current by posting individual episodes as they're published, so remember to keep Digging and commenting as episodes are published.
