- triplehelix, on 11/19/2007, -5/+123wow, lets say average price of a blu-ray movie is $25, thats like $250 free, plus the $125 from the mail in 5 free, so $375 of free movies.
and 15 flicks sure does make a nice start to a HD movie collection. - Dreamscar, on 11/19/2007, -8/+91Proof?
- p0ss, on 11/19/2007, -38/+83If only it didn't involve giving money to Walmart
- AriaStar, on 11/19/2007, -17/+62So says some random person on a random Blu-Ray forum. How about a link to a page on Wal-Mart? Or a scan of a flyer?
- gnychis, on 11/19/2007, -4/+44and unlike Circuit City, Wal-mart will honor it
- quickcomment, on 11/19/2007, -3/+40Go the night before the sale, scope out the BR-DVDs you want, hide them in the store in a spot that no one is interested in that is on the way to electronics. Next day, grab them from underneath the bags of Malt-o-Meal Bran Flakes where you hid them and make a mad dash to your new PS3.
- gmilburn, on 11/19/2007, -15/+47Really? Gamestop literally revitalized the town I live in. The commercial part of town was dead an dying. Since Gamestop came to town 2 years ago, we have 6 new restaurants, a Kohl's...
Alright, turns out if I'm not getting paid to post, this gets boring pretty quick... - djphatjive, on 11/19/2007, -7/+35You can really tell they see the PS3 as a movie player first. Why not give away 10 games? Or even 2?
- JayD16, on 11/19/2007, -2/+30Yeah, thats actually a lot of movies. I can't even think of 15 new movies I would want(bluray or otherwise). I'm sure theres a lot of classics one could get though.
- stellarceltic, on 11/19/2007, -3/+28Perhaps you should recommend he bathe regularly...
- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -5/+25i work at wal-mart and i have not heard of this at all. i do not work in electronics, but my neighbor does. i will have to ask him about this, smells kind of funny to me.
- DigitAl56K, on 11/19/2007, -1/+17"you choose any 10 BD titles under $30"
It makes me sad to hear that people actually sell movies over $30. - gotcheaprice, on 11/19/2007, -1/+17http://holiday.ri-walmart.com/?section=secret
GO to secret in store specials, then go to saturdays special - Jofaba, on 11/19/2007, -2/+17Of course the big question here is selection. Tons of people are going to be into this sale, and the first thing people are going to do is pick out their movies as soon as they get there, then get the PS3 (if it's still in stock). Get there too late and you'll be settling for movies you never would have bought anyway. I'm very tempted by this sale though. VERY! Worse case scenario, you go in and pick out your movies. If you manage to get a good collection, then it's almost a nobrainer if you can afford it.
- inactive, on 11/19/2007, -3/+18No...actually you can tell by that that they DON'T see it as a movie player first. They give away the movies while making you pay for the games, since they figure that people buying it will be more likely to buy games. (Plus games are like twice as much money.)
- inactive, on 11/19/2007, -7/+21If only it didn't involve GOING to Walmart. I feel like a trash can when I go into a Walmart.
- wentwj, on 11/19/2007, -1/+14if that's the case then what was the 99$ fire sale a few weeks ago?
- vsujohn2, on 11/19/2007, -6/+19Or he doesnt want to prove that he is perhaps making ***** up
- inactive, on 11/19/2007, -2/+15True...except they aren't.
- tendonut, on 11/19/2007, -10/+23Can you name 10 games one would want for the PS3, even if it were free? Hell, I can't even think of 10 games I'd want for the Wii right now either. Maybe 6...and I already own them
- wentwj, on 11/19/2007, -2/+13there are very few blu-ray movies above $30, at least at Best Buy. I'd imagine Wal-Mart wouldn't have them more expensive. For those that don't know Blu-Ray movies are never more expensive than HD-DVD movies, and generally run 20-30$, with the average being about 25. Occasionally you'll find a title at 35, but thats not very common.
- InitialDMP5, on 11/19/2007, -0/+11Wal Mart has pretty good prices on movies. Most of them are around 23 dollars. Which isn't the 14.99-19.99 we are used to with DVD, but its getting better. There is actually a huge selection of Blu Ray movies (as well as HD DVD) out there right now.
- Wrathernaut, on 11/19/2007, -1/+12Maybe your cave is a little further from civilization than most, but the PS3 is available for $399.
Just return it after Xmas, without the receipt saying you got it as a gift, the worst they'll do is make it be store-credit. - inactive, on 11/19/2007, -4/+14I'm sorry...are you under the impression that Walmart and Sony should make sales that cater only to YOU?
- kingvik, on 11/19/2007, -2/+12By that logic so is HD DVD because they were selling those players at $99.
- drenader, on 11/19/2007, -0/+10http://holiday.ri-walmart.com/?section=secret
- wentwj, on 11/19/2007, -2/+12While I would like to believe this to be true, I do have some doubts. I don't know WHY anyone would make something like this up, but... it's happened in the past.
- radial, on 11/19/2007, -2/+11fail - this promo is for movies valued $30 or less
- vdubski, on 11/19/2007, -1/+10Good to know you have no taste in movies if you think A Clockwork Orange is a bad film.
- muniak, on 11/19/2007, -3/+12What better way to push the Blue-Ray format into our homes than giving them away for free!
- sjbdallas, on 11/19/2007, -15/+23i'm very tempted. I do have the $99 HD also but I wouldn't mind having both just to be covered on games and movies regardless of format.
- consoneo, on 11/19/2007, -1/+9Return the movies later and get the ones you want...
- drjones78, on 11/19/2007, -8/+16Yea, what kind of blu-ray movie selections are they gonna have that are priced under $30? Its gonna be like the $5 dvd bargain bin. With maybe 1 or two gems in the lot, most are going to be movies no one wants to watch.
- JapaneseEconomy, on 11/19/2007, -4/+12I have a feeling this guy is trying to create an awesome prank on the internet, then laugh as all these people go to Walmart only to be given blank stares when asking about this so called sale. 15 free movies is too good to be true, just like the nigerian prince who wants to give me millions
- mb3581, on 11/19/2007, -2/+1010 in store plus5 by mail
- InitialDMP5, on 11/19/2007, -1/+9games are 60 dollars movies are 30. Also you get motorstorm in the box if I remember. So you get Motorstorm and 10 movies. I don't think the 5 free movie deal is still going on. Last I checked it expired on October 31.
- inactive, on 11/19/2007, -1/+9That is EVERY company, moron.
- jerrycan, on 11/19/2007, -2/+10Well, I only have an XBOX and an NGC, but if I could get that PS3 with games instead of movies, I'd jump on it. I'd pick the following 10 eagerly...
1. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
2. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
3. Resistance: Fall of Man
4. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2
5. Ninja Gaiden Sigma
6. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas
7. DiRT
8. MotorStorm
9. The Darkness
10. Heavenly Sword - rogersj, on 11/19/2007, -3/+11lol your a dumbass, bluray movies at walmart are 29.99 or less. dont post anymore it just shows your stupidity
- drizzlelicious, on 11/19/2007, -1/+9He added 25 x (10 + 5), or, 250 + 125, and concluded 375.
- GeneralFailure0, on 11/19/2007, -1/+8What you do is bring a friend to get the PS3 while you grab the movies.
- urbanclock, on 12/08/2008, -2/+9I'm pretty sure gaming is about whatever the hell you want to play MaTT, and don't let a bunch of critics tell you what the best game on Earth is. I still think it is Earthbound for snes, regardless of the fact it isn't on anyone's "best games of all time" list. Doesn't mean everyone else has to agree either. Some people aren't interested in mario.
- mace2, on 11/19/2007, -1/+8Why were you dugg down? You're right.
A whole host of people don't know the PS3 can play Blu-Ray movies... hence they're increasing awareness to make it more attractive to shoppers. Which in turn leads to more purchases, both of games and movies. - breeeze, on 11/19/2007, -0/+7I think they might still only do bleeped versions of audio cds, but I know they always get the "Unrated", "Director's Cut" and all that jazz of DVD.
- GodIsntReal, on 11/19/2007, -1/+8Not true. I live in Canada and have seen several Blu-Ray standalone players in walmart.
- inactive, on 11/19/2007, -1/+8Like they were trying to get rid of all their HD-DVDs a few weeks ago, by selling them below cost?
- HRF1, on 11/19/2007, -1/+8I'm jealous. Retailers don't bend over backwards like that for the holidays here in Japan.
- staticneuron, on 11/19/2007, -0/+7Uncharted is actually on of the best on the PS3. And I was suprised by ratchet and clank and warhawk is pretty fun. I can see on that list a couple of games that don't mach quality wise and are probably beter on the 360.
- InitialDMP5, on 11/19/2007, -3/+10oh yeah, unlike HD DVD who sold off the stock of their HD A2 players for 99 dollars?!?! that doesn't look like an "everything must go sale"?
- stellarceltic, on 11/19/2007, -5/+12Get Mario Galaxy. I haven't touched Halo or GHIII since I got Mario.
