- MattnJax, on 12/24/2007, -9/+66I think Gran Tursimo is going to be the greatest looking game ever. From the screenshots that are already out, I have to say its realism is like no other game I've ever seen. PS3 power to the max baby.
- tastypastry, on 12/24/2007, -6/+45And to think the PS3 still has a good 7 years ahead of it.
- firefox15, on 12/24/2007, -1/+28This couldn't all fit onto one page?
- mywhitenoise, on 12/24/2007, -3/+29How does a game look "pretentious", do you even know what that word means?
- Shogi, on 12/24/2007, -5/+30God I need to start saving.
- Shogi, on 12/24/2007, -1/+23I think the only utterly boring and pretentious ***** here is you Christbait.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 12/24/2007, -3/+25Included with every PS3
- keyboardduder, on 12/24/2007, -2/+22Devil may cry kicks it. Metal Gear is always good. I cant wait for crisis core (please dont be another dirge). God of war is so entertaining it cant get much better. Who says that stuff sucks? All the games in those series have gotten 9-10/10 on almost all their games. (not mentioning DMC2)
- b3owulf, on 12/24/2007, -2/+22All of them? The list includes a crazy intense fps (killzone 2), a sandbox + super hero game (infamous), a sequel the most selling racing game series (gt5), AND little big planet, which is a completely new game experience... and you think they all look boring? What kind of games DO you like?? I can only guess Halo 3 or Gear of War.
And I'll even re-ask mywhitenoise's question - How DOES a game look pretentious? - Tserk, on 12/24/2007, -5/+25I agree with you and with what was said on the 1up show this last week. GT needs to push more than the graphics envelope.
- Smwbigboss, on 12/24/2007, -9/+27You assume that Xbox won't have their own 10 reasons.
- MattnJax, on 12/24/2007, -6/+23Yeah, very true. As the developers gain more experience and become more comfortable with the system, it should lead to some amazing, breathtaking games. I've already had my breath taken away a few times by the graphics from certain games.
- Harbinger67, on 12/24/2007, -5/+22+1. I've been debating picking up a PS3 on the 26th, but this list has more or less settled it. Best Buy here I come!
- b3owulf, on 12/24/2007, -12/+28You don't get bonus points for making it a poem. You suck.
Killzone 2 looks infinitely better than Halo 3. - gamemaster357, on 12/24/2007, -4/+16shhh keep quite
truspector might hear u - TheBigL481, on 12/24/2007, -3/+15***** them if they think i'm clicking through 4 pages for a list of 10 things ...
*takes their ad revenue and puts it in back pocket* - MaddGIJoe, on 12/24/2007, -6/+18I'm a Xbox guy but these games do look pretty promising... maybe Ill pick up a PS3 next Christmas.
- phantomex, on 12/24/2007, -20/+31Time to get a PS3. They all look very promising. And Blu-Ray FTW.
- charityjustice, on 12/24/2007, -13/+24Almost as entertaining as the Ten for 2007 article last year which listed such AAA titles as Lair, Heavenly Sword, Kane & Lynch. and Motorstorm.
- mywhitenoise, on 12/24/2007, -4/+14Exactly what do you add to a racing game? I always thought a ***** of cars, and tracks, with beautiful graphics, and online play was all you needed.
- KenDigg, on 12/24/2007, -5/+14Wow, that's a great line up. To make things worse, I just got readdicted to FFXI w/ the new expansion. My PS3 has a lot of work ahead of it in 2008.
- SemiSarcastic, on 12/25/2007, -3/+12I'm looking forward to MGS4. Infamous looks interesting though, hopefully we'll get more news about it.
- vdgmr1213, on 12/25/2007, -3/+12You haven't looked at a PS1 game in a long time have you? Go ahead, pick up an old PS1 game and play it. Then we'll talk.
- MattnJax, on 12/24/2007, -4/+13If it's like the other Gran Turismos, it should have the gameplay to match the graphics. Throw in the fact that this edition is going to have huge online races, and it should make for one hell of a game.
- Shogi, on 12/25/2007, -0/+9Exactly what do you think I was planning on saving up, hopes and dreams?
- MattnJax, on 12/25/2007, -1/+10Ummm.... 4 of the 10 aren't sequels... and all the sequels look kick ass, so up yours. Have fun playing Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 jack-ass.
- Dracusis, on 12/25/2007, -0/+890% of the games released on the PS3 are blu-ray discs, way to demonstrate your naivety!
And despite MS not wanting to commit to HD video format and everyone saying it'll all be downloadable in the furutre, if you want to enjoy HD video *now*, BD is the best way to go about it. Personally, I can't foresee HD video shifting to digital distribution that quickly. Internet bandwidth worldwide can't support it now and very little infrastructure is being built to expand global capacity. In a decade, yeah, maybe, but if you want something sustainable and trouble free before then, Bluray Discs are the best option and I'm glad Sony had the foresight to bring this to their customers and the gumption to stick with it in spite of all of the criticisms leveled at them over PS3 pricing.
Can't say the same for Microsoft. I own a 360 but being in Australia means all I've been able to download thus far is some crappy MS propaganda videos, woo freaking hoo. Even if they did offer HD video downloads, I'd need to shell out for their expensive HDD upgrade or have yet another box (USB HDD or HD Drive) plugged into my console and cluttering up my entertainment space, as if the 360 wasn't ***** ugly enough to begin with! Honestly, what a joke.
Once I've had my fill of the 360 exclusives it'll be Ebay'd. - DarkPhoen1x, on 12/25/2007, -0/+8Wow, I'm not a fan of the PS3, and I still think you're an ***** Christbait. Weird huh?
- Zap2, on 12/24/2007, -3/+11I think that was just for the concept for PS3...for GT5 they'll have it back
- triplehelix, on 12/24/2007, -3/+10well if we you mean millions, you might be right.
- MattnJax, on 12/25/2007, -0/+7joaob, you've obviously never played a game on the PS3. The realism of certain games is unbelievable. Graphics have came so far since when I was a kid playing on my NES. Makes you wonder what things will look like in 2015 and beyond.
- samdu, on 12/25/2007, -0/+7And just so the fanboy bases are covered... Mario 25, Metroid 20, and Zelda 15. :)
- Bega, on 12/25/2007, -0/+7I thought GT was all about the tuning and customization? I do agree about the damage modeling though
- MattnJax, on 12/25/2007, -4/+11Wow, you wasted all that time writing that crap? Do you feel better now? Let me guess, your in a bad mood cause your piece of sh*t Xbox just broke right? Or is it cause you had to throw down $170 on a HD-DVD player that will be obsolete in 2 years? Or did some pimple faced kid just call you a ***** on Live? Whatever the case my be, don't worry, you can always come back to Playstation.
- nicktx, on 12/25/2007, -0/+6Never gonna happen.
- samdu, on 12/25/2007, -1/+7Motorstorm is all KINDS of fun.
- triplehelix, on 12/25/2007, -0/+6i'm not sure how you could possibly think that the console market is saturated this early in the game. sony sold 8 million units its first year out, with what started as a very high entry point, stiff competition, and a mediocre line up. wouldn't it make sense that they would sell more units now that the price is lower (and probably will drop again by next xmas) and they have a strong line up?
- triplehelix, on 12/25/2007, -1/+7were you one of those people that didn't think the ps1 needed the CD drive, and the ps2 didn't need the DVD drive?
- smackhero, on 12/25/2007, -1/+7i haven't played Killzone 1, but Killzone: Liberation for PSP was awesome--good storyline, and great artistic design. i think the franchise has a lot of potential.
- MattnJax, on 12/25/2007, -1/+7Yeah, I agree. Sony has had a rough year, but I do believe that 2008 is Sony's year, and it all kicks off in January with the release of Haze.
- rarson, on 12/25/2007, -4/+10Damage modeling, car customization, and tuning. Those are three things I've been wanting to see in the GT series for a while now.
- MattnJax, on 12/25/2007, -1/+6Like Xbox and Wii don't have sequels? Come on now. Sony has always made great, original games because they were, at one point, the new kid on the block, and had to create original, creative games. Of course this list is gonna have sequels because everyone loves those franchises, therefore you get excited about sequels to your favorite games.
- MattnJax, on 12/25/2007, -0/+5While I agree that GTA4 is gonna be the game of the year *crosses fingers*, this list is all about Sony exclusives, and GTA4 is not just a Sony exclusive anymore.
- triplehelix, on 12/25/2007, -0/+5so because you work at a cash register in a retail store it makes you an expert? thanks for the holiday laugh!
- triplehelix, on 12/25/2007, -0/+5when you've been in the console game as long as sony, you end up with a ton of quality franchises that spawn sequels. the good thing, is they haven't stopped developing new quality games like uncharted and LBP.
- Veni_Vidi_Vici, on 12/24/2007, -1/+6When I first saw the screenshot I wondered for a second if it wasn't real.
- inactive, on 12/25/2007, -0/+5um, any game that installs to the hard drive has faster load times than the 360. psn has never disconnecred on me, and xboxlive is down and you're still paying for it
- etgoboom, on 12/26/2007, -0/+5you mean like how the wii has been running the same old nintendo franchises in to ground for the last 20 years, except that now they found a way to trick everybody into the idea that replacing random button mashing with random stick waggling is the real definition of "innovation"
- lacronicus, on 12/24/2007, -10/+15Aren't the GT models completely static? High res models are all well and good, but what about environment interaction? Didn't they scrap car destructibility? They can make the cars look as good as they want, the moment I crash into a wall (as I often do in that game) and nothing interesting happens to me or the wall, it loses any chance at being the best looking game ever.
- eryximachus, on 12/25/2007, -0/+5Microsoft and Nintendo are far worse.
