- doubledmateo, on 02/04/2009, -7/+34I really don't get what Sony is thinking with Home. Why would I want to meet up with my friends there if we're going to be playing SFIV? Wouldn't it be easier to just boot up SFIV and invite them to join me? It just feels like a totally unnecessary detour. The PS3 is fine without it.
- melkore, on 02/03/2009, -1/+17That's how Home is supposed to work. Meet up with friends, set up a game and then just go. I got a few games to work with Wipeout HD but it was a bit of a hassle since all it did was launch the game for the players instead of keeping them in a party.
Warhawk was supposed to have something like this too. - Topher06, on 02/03/2009, -2/+13Home will supposedly offer the ability to meet players and strategize before launching the game in a themed based room,, but that feature is not implemented yet. Its pretty much just a way to meet someone online, chat, and go play a game without just entering a game with randomly generated list of anonymous players like a typical multiplayer game. Will save final verdict until they pull the beta tag off Home, but so far they haven't focused on getting game launching implemented well (or at all).
- dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -3/+11While meeting up with friends is one feature that might seem redundant - you are assuming that your friends have the same games as you. What happens when you pick up a title that they don't have? I am the only one in my group that has Resistance 2 but I have met people on Home that have it and I play it with them.
I was playing Chess in Home and I got talking to my opponent, he asked me what games I have - next thing you know we are playing co-op on Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and have done several times now. So it's a good place to meet people with similar interests not necessarily just your mates.
On top of that, its a collection of mini games that are fun and the amount of times I joined in with a circle of people and just danced about while some dude jumps in the middle lol - it sounds terrible but it brings a smile to your face for a little while - then your on with something else.
So while the PS3 is great without home its better with it. - PacificStandard, on 02/04/2009, -2/+10Anyone know the name of the song in those new Geico commercials?
- inactive, on 02/04/2009, -1/+8"Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell ft. Michael Jackson.
That song? - kinseyincanada, on 02/04/2009, -3/+10im sorry but i hate Home, PSN is fine if you want to randomly jump into games and have fun. Sony needs to work on the PSN network and leave Home for a minigame and advertising thing. Just copy Lives features and put them into PSn for free and they have something huge over MS. I dont want to have to wait in line to fly a red-bull plane online.
- BeBigs, on 02/04/2009, -2/+9The release of Home was sub-par, but the EA addition alongside the promise of more like it could potentially turn it into...well...into what everyone wanted when it came out.
- dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -1/+8I get why some people think its pretty lame now and hopefully one day it will step out from being a beta and rock the world. It wouldn't shock me if they had plenty of content already built for Home but just havn't implemented it yet because they want it all saved for one big launch. Like surely there are picture frames - they have a space for it on the furniture thing - why wouldn't they some made already. Anyway I think for home to rock the following hings need to happen.
--------------
Casino
---------------
It wouldn't have to be a real money casino (though if they could pull that off it would rock). But a casino where you can go play poker among other card games, roulette, Domino's, slot machines, etc. As long as they had some kind of money/points system perhaps similar to the poker found on the xbox live market place all with a simple interface and a way of getting mates together. Get some telebingo on there and see how quickly mothers snap these consoles up for their kids, I know my mum would be all about the PS3 if she could get her bingo on. There could be small prizes like a t-shirt or maybe if you log 10 hours of poker or something you get a PKR table for your HomeSpace.
----------------------------
More Boardgames
----------------------------
The best thing about board games been translated to the internet is that people can't cheat with them and they can't really be cheap either. Spawn Killing, glitch'n, unblockable moves, etc have sadly become the norm for most online games but in a board game that just doesn't happen, it can't! There is no cheating in chess and it's great because of it. So how about we get some Backgammon, Monopoly, Battleships, Popup Pirates, Scrabble, Guess Who, Buckaroo, etc. These are the games that people love to play but probably wouldn't pay much for and don't take a lot of time to develop and most of them are free online already just not on a games console with the social networking possibilities of the PS3.
-----------------------
Leader Boards
-----------------------
I know the Red Bull Air Race just got them but Home has got arcade machines with no leader boards. It should be a crime for god sake! If I dedicated 6 hours (which I did btw) to playing Icebreaker I want to see how well I have done compared with my mates and others online. I want to see who has played the most Chess so that I can get in touch with them and play Chess, etc. Not only would it give people more incentive to stick around when they start a game of Chess but it gives some people more reason to play the game in the first place.
----------------------
Tournaments
----------------------
I would love to see a set of tournaments played out in Home. Maybe a bowling tourni, where the prize is a T-Shirt for my guy or a trophy for my cabinet. While you are waiting to play in the tourni, you would be chatting about with people and doing what home was designed for. The prize could be something like £10 to spend in Home, it wouldn't have to be much because they could run weekly tournaments using different games. I hope this happens at some point.
------------------------------------------------------------
Microphone/keyboard/neither only area's
------------------------------------------------------------
One thing really annoying about Home, is that headsets have been restricted because some people have potty mouth. It would be good to have adult only rooms - or at least rooms where you can agree to not take offence and behave properly. It would be handy if we could turn "headset only" on too, so that it only puts us in a room with other mic uses or "Keyboard Only" that way we know others aren't waiting for us to type for ages. Don't get me wrong, there should be an unfiltered option too because some of your mates might not have a mic but still want to fool around in Home with you. On a side note - Sony really need to start packaging their mic with the PS3 even if its only with certain bundles.
------------------
Full Screen
------------------
When I click full screen on a poster, I want to see a full screen high resolution poster. I don't want to see a pixelated poster that I am struggling to read - this is advertising, they are paying for that content to be there make it high quality when I click full screen. The rest of the time it can be normal quality so users don't have to wait for ages while all the high res images load. The same is needed for video's. I watched a trailer the other night and regretted it because I had to wait for the trailer to buffer then watch it in a small section of my screen. Frustrating and poor. What more, give us an option to save the poster/trailer to our hdd's and maybe allow us to decorate our rooms with the posters. It is another way to show us the advert while giving us more content.
-----------------------------------------
Browser with IMDB support -
-----------------------------------------
When I see a trailer for a movie or a poster for a movie, I often want to check out some info on it, either by going to the official site or by visiting IMDB. Giving us this option directly in Home will prevent us from leaving Home to check it out, saving us time while keeping us in the service and giving the advertiser more bang for their buck.
-------------------------
Auto Start Home
-------------------------
At the minute we have the option to boot straight into game or xmb why not add Home as another option. I know I would set it and once I am in I would be more encouraged to play about - even if it's only for a minute or two. From in Home I can still access the XMB or launch a game and it means I don't have to wait while my machine resets itself after booting up. Also getting rid of the sign in option (press x to connect) would be good and that stupid warning message about the hdd that shows up every time you play a game. Not too many people will click on Home by accident as it is rather out of their way and the warning message should be optional - we get it already.
----------------------------------------------------------
Include Folding @ Home (Life, whatever)
----------------------------------------------------------
Granted this wouldn't add amazing functionality for the user but if it were an option to enable it while I was in Home, I would. I feel bad enough that I turn Life with PlayStation off to game as it is lol, at least this way gamers would be contributing to the world while having fun. Obviously this should be an option as not everyone would like to contribute but it could be turned on by default with a message showing how to turn it off.
-----------------------------------------
Give us more ways to travel
-----------------------------------------
OK so this might seem a bit much to hope for but eventually Home will be huge and walking all over might seem too much of a time waste. Why not give us a hoverboard/skateboard, bike/moped, horse/camel, etc. If nothing else it would add a little cool factor but if somehow they could allow us to grind and maybe do a few tricks on a board or bike it would rock. Also give us the ability to climb and jump Crackdown style. I want to be able to jump to the top floor or from the top floor and have fun with that. It's not like I am asking to be able to pull out a weapon (though target range or water pistols would be cool)
----------------------------------------
Merge the World Maps
----------------------------------------
I am sick of hearing about cool stuff coming to Home and then wondering if it is coming to my version or the one in Japan. Hopefully this is just a beta thing but the feature is called world map - let me visit the japanease arcade if I want without having to create a multiple account. For every multiple account out their the stats of users are tainted so your market research isn't very accurate. While your at it make a road to everywhere. I know that a lot of people will go into their menu to load up a different space - but half the fun in Home is just walking about and seeing what others are doing. Would it be so hard to run path ways to the different islands - hell why not have a boat taking people across with mini games on. It could be a casino boat - just something more social than whipping out the PSP3000. Also if I move from one space to another and the person I was talking to does - send us to the same space so we can carry on talking.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Make Every Room Have at Least 1 Game
--------------------------------------------------------------
I don't care if it's a game thats already in Home - chess, drafts, etc just don't be making spaces with nothing to do but look at pictures - it is a disapointment when I download a space then realise there is nothing in their for me.
Obviously there are plenty more things obvious things like party launching support for all games and maybe some less obvious things like schools - where you can learn to play certain games or even learn real things like new languages. - I think Home has some major potential, I just hope it lives up to it.
(WOW, talk about getting carried away, I'm betting nobody reads all that - damn you digg for sucking me in to this comment lark - damn you) - makkaveli19, on 02/04/2009, -0/+7dugg because it's absolutely irrelevant.
- makkaveli19, on 02/04/2009, -0/+6People whine that they have to walk around for five minutes to start the game? you know that psn is still working, no one is forcing anyone to use home.
- Trav1289, on 02/04/2009, -2/+82+2=chair>The 5th king of france
- Blatantblunt, on 02/04/2009, -2/+7I totally agree! Its a free service (AND ITS IN BETA), use it if you want and if you dont like it, dont use it. I think it ads great value and have personally met many people from all over the world and shared game tips, chatted about up and coming releases and even hooked up with a friend I haven't seen in 6years!
- inactive, on 02/04/2009, -1/+6Actually, the Mysto & Pizzi cover of that song. It's available for download off the Geico website for free.
http://www.geico.com/about/commercials/music/ - inactive, on 02/04/2009, -3/+7I can't wait to get into the new spaces. I love RE5 and SF
- inactive, on 02/04/2009, -3/+7tbh the bowling in PS Home is actually pretty fun and polished and the stage setup with music where people dance wouldn't be too bad if they actually added new songs to it once in a while
- frieddonuts, on 02/04/2009, -0/+4Also if they showed real movies in the theater instead of trailers, it would be a killer app. I'm not even talking brand new movies- any movie.
Change the pool tables from real-time representations to something you don't have to wait in line for and I'll be a happy man. - Elranzer, on 02/04/2009, -0/+4You can't put the Dreamcast lower than... well anything. It's sacred on Digg.
- ScionX, on 02/04/2009, -0/+4http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/12/12/
- dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+3While it would be cool - your machine would have to download that movie before it started playing. It's not like they are going to stream to millions of people constantly. A nice touch though would be to let you pick your trailers - have a selection of them.
- danwallace, on 02/05/2009, -0/+3People are still saying the PS3 WILL be great? The PS3 IS great. Right now. It's awesome. Home is irrelevant. It will either succeed, making the PS3 even better, or it will fail, and the PS3 will still kick ass.
- dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+3I haven't been so disapointed since Lair come out and sucked balls because of the control scheme.
- ShiningSquirrel, on 02/04/2009, -5/+8Don't be.
I own both consoles and Xbox live blows home away, hands down.
Home is nothing more then a lot of over sexed preteens acting like preschoolers. - estat, on 02/04/2009, -2/+5After reading the title, I thought that SFII (SNES) and RE1 (PSX) would be available to play for free in some random area. Like an arcade, people would line up to play SFII or watch/take turns/comment while RE1 is being played.
But I forgot, PS Home is useless, and the inclusion of these games is also useless. - dandonia, on 02/05/2009, -0/+3Couldn't agree more.
- dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+3They were my idea's but I am sure others have had them before. I wrote the majority of it in a blog post over on ign back when Home was first released as an open beta. I put it as a poll but nobody voted or even looked at it - then I posted it to digg as a submission but nobody dugg it (fair play I guess - its an ign blog lol, who would digg that). I saw the above comment and started typing again then I thought ***** it, deleted what I wrote and updated this for the above comment, adding a few more things and tweaking some of the idea's.
http://digg.com/playstation/10_Ways_To_Make_Home_L ...
I can see "big things" for Home and would love to see it reach that potential. Hell I would love to work on it. As for why I write things like that - who knows, sad I guess but if you think thats a lot of work for nothing - I would hate for you to see the amount of idea's I have wrote for the Smackdown series over the years.
As a guy with a software engineering degree and just about to finish a computer games production degree- I really should spend less time writting ideas out and more time trying to implement them in something. Ah well - I can see I have rambled on. Sorry. - fpskrz, on 02/04/2009, -1/+3Thanks for writing /sarcasm at the bottom, I would've never guess you were being sarcastic without it.
- dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2Sales do not speak to quality - if it did wrestling games would be much better than they are. Metal Gear Solid has never been a major seller if you consider that 3 was aimed at a market of 120+M people and only sold 5.6million. People very rarely buy sequals to games that they missed out on the original and as MGS was a PS1 game - most that missed the first didn't pick up the sequals It wasn't the case with Halo because most already had Halo 1 and 2 - they were epic releases for the xbox it was the major game to have and Halo 2. So Halo had a bigger user install base when Halo 3 was released.
Metal Gear Solid sold more than 2, which sold more than 3 which has currently sold more than 4. It is the same reason Resistance 2 will sell crap. Not many people had Resistance FOM and as a result not many will get Resistance 2. The 360 was already established when Gears came out - you know what - this has all gone well off topic. You know where I am going with it. Sales are a product of hype not quality. The UFC could hype a match up and sell 1 million tickets but if the match is boring they won't get their tickets back.
How long does it have to wait for what?
You again show how 1 dimensional you are with LBP. The game is ***** quality mate it wasn't over promised - what about it do you think they didn't deliver on? - dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2I will read and reply to one more of your posts then I will read what you have to say back and just leave it at that. I think we should just agree to disagree. We aren't getting anywhere with the debate.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2Street fighter theme *****.
- danwallace, on 02/04/2009, -3/+5I still despise Home, but if they continue heading in this direction it might be worth taking a look at somewhere down the road. The future of Home depends entirely on what sort of support it sees. I actually like the idea of having a visual representation where I can meet with my friends before and after a match. I think it promotes team play. You should be able to walk around Home, chat with some people, check out their trophies and get a decent team together while surrounded by cool environments and ***** to do. You know, make NEW friends.
Actually implement what they're promising in this article, and on a bigger scale, and Home might be worth going back to some day.
Oh, and also I want to be able to watch people fight.
And anyone who pays real money for Home furniture, clothing, etc. is an idiot. Make up a points system to go with your trophies that can be spent on that stuff.
And cut the load times.
Then we'll see. - dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -1/+3This has fantastic potential but it needs implementing soon. I do prefer the idea of meeting up in home, but they disabled the voice chat support which is annoying. The best things to come from Home so far are the little games - chess, drafts, mancaca, icebreakers, etc. The are games that perhaps you wouldn't have spent money on but are good time wasters sort of like the console version of flash games. I would probably have bought a good chess game but I love that I got it for free- same with the up and coming poker.
- dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2Yeah, free games "sucks ass", challanges where the winners get PSP's "suck's ass", meeting new people who have the same interests "sucks ass". - How about they keep working on Home and other features for PSN and you stop been such a dick. It is free - I could understand you bitching if they just gave avatares that stood around doing nothing at all and required you to pay to get any sort of functionality out of them but dispite your opinion there is plenty to do in Home and there are always lots of people using it - so I guess a lot like it What more it's in beta and oh yeah - it's free.
What's better - a system with no games built in or a system with 10 games built in and counting or a system with no games built in? - dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2You have it mixed up mate. The concept doesn't appeal to you, just like RPG's dont appeal to me. You don't have download things every 3 feet - you download it once when you first go in and then its there until it gets a big update. Are you sure you have spent time in home? You don't seem to know much about it.
I'm not saying been free removes it from been pulled to pieces by wanna be reviewers. What I am saying is - it's a BETA, it's constantly improving and its fun just not the kind of fun you were seeking- that doesn't mean they shouldn't improve upon it.
You don't see it as fun just like I don't find RPG's fun. Does that make Mass Effect or Fallout 3 a bad idea? - isayre020888, on 02/04/2009, -3/+5Wow I might actually log on to Home for this. Wait.... maybe..... Nah...
- dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2No it doesn't it's just you don't like it. You are so 1 dimensional that you fail to see the fun that people are having. Also don't be making out like Home is the only place where people are dicks or sexual preditors - there was an article on Kotaku last night about a 27 year old hooking up with a 15 year old through xbox live. That kind of ***** happens all over.
If you havn't made friends with anyone online - maybe it's your ***** attitude. The Playstation brand is aimed at all gamers not just hardcore gamers - why do you think they have exclusives like Singstar, Super Rub Dub, Buzz, etc. They were built on Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, etc. As for the waiting in line complaint - its hard to deny that a lot of people don't want to wait in line but to be fair if they had access to all the games constantly they probably would play them to death then move on - rather than just an hour here or there which keeps it fun and keeps them coming back. If I see icebreakers or bowling empty as I walk through the arcade I jump on them quickly and it gives almost an exciment buzz off of getting to play something you like. Besides if you want the games in your appartment so you dont have to que - you can win some of them and I am sure you will be able to buy others. I have Pacman and Digg Dug in my personal space.
Games like Chess are fantastic multiplayer games because the rules of Chess don't change which means as long as your not a graphics whore - a game of chess on Home is just as fun as it is in life. The beauty with it been in Home is that you meet people and can watch them play if there isn't one free.
You keep bringing up xbox live - why don't you just go play your 360? I don't see you bitching about the xbox live avatars which really don't do anything at all the things they can do require payment for.
It wouldn't shock me if you havn't even been in Home. You sound more like someone that has just read what others have said and decided against it. - 83JB, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2What the hell is this supposed to be?
- dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2I didn't see any votes for a 360 exclusive as game of the year - where as MGS:IV won several readers choice game of the year awards from different websites like IGN, 1up, etc. It also won a lot of critics game of the year including GameSpot, N4G.com, etc. Other games like Little Big Planet also picked up plenty of awards and if you look the metacritic top scores - the Playstation 3 has 3 exclusives in the top 6 all less than a year old where as the 360 has no exclusives in the top 6. (not that metacritic scores are the be all and end all there are a lot of things wrong with their rank system).
I don't want to debate exlcusives - I think both have great games. I was mearly pointing out that people expected the PS3 to come out of the gates with 1000 exclusives all better than anything ever seen and when it didn't people started to bitch. They forgot that the 360 didn't have a great first year of games because it was covered up by them been the only next gen on the market. The same goes for Home. People wanted it to launch with all the features fully implemented and so when the BETA were expecting miracles again rather than just taking it as it comes. The thing isn't even fully released yet.
As for waiting for you console to get great - you said yourself you have stopped paying for live- presumably because you wised up and relised most games are multiplatform and play near enough the same on both machines -some better on the PS3 some better on the 360. Without xbox live most 360 games become pointless - What good is Halo to a guy without live?
. - wolfboyZ, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2Sad that I picked up on what theme this was instantly.
- imronburgundy83, on 02/04/2009, -1/+3It's true. I own both and all I did in the Home beta was run around and annoy people, which is actually quite amusing for about 10 min.
- frepnog, on 02/04/2009, -2/+4i dont think sony are failing. i personally have a ps3, and i enjoy it quite a bit. i think that sony HAVE dropped the ball in quite a few areas, excelled in others and are slowly building the brand back up. however.... none of that stops Home from being garbage.
"Think how much content will have hit Home in 3 years - then consider that most of that content will be free."
we will see about that. in 3 years, i seriously doubt Home will be more than an afterthought. I could be wrong on that... but i doubt it. - dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2frepnog - I wasn't been a fanboy- though to be fair I am largly in favour of the PS3 because it has better media abilities, it is better designed (no rrod), it is quieter, has free online play and is getting better by the day. I have had a 360 since about 6 months after the launch - my gamer tag is iBrid - though you will see I havn't been online for a while because paying for online gaming is pretty ridiculas when every other machine gives it for free. What I was saying is that while the PSN could benefit from some of the xbox features it shouldn't lose focus on their own features that when fully realized will give it an even bigger edge over the competition - but more importantly give owners more to do.
You need the namco beta - which you can get easily by creating a hong kong PSN account - its all in english, then go to the store and download the namco beta - it will then let you download demo versions of digg dugg, pac man and a few other namco classics. Sign back in with your normal account -then play the namco beta (which is in the games tab on xmb) this will unlock items for your version of home. I currently have pac man arcade machine and digg dugg arcade machine which I can place in my space and invite others to play. - You probably won't bother loading up home to play them - and I don't blame you but it is a sign of things to come. You also unlock things like cloths and furniture by playing the beta. (you might want to check the demo list on the hk store too - mainly in english and there are about 20 demos that aren't on the UK store) .
Look, like I said- I can understand people thinking home is lame at the minute and maybe that's the biggest argument against releasing an open beta. Sony shot themselves in the foot by announcing Home too early and the fans were getting pissed by the delays so they opened the beta rather than holding off until the content was all ready. But like I have said before - the PS3 was critisized for its exclusives and now the majority think they have the better exclusives. Home is not a game, it is a development platform and over time it will get a lot better. Poker is going to be a big addition when EA release that patch.
@ Robbothehood
I am not a Home apologizer - I am a guy that loves chess and am glad that I have a way to play people at it for free. I also love icebreakers - I was additcted to it. I don't expect AAA titles to appear in Home, instead I think it will keep releasing nice little add ons which are coming for free. The Red Bull Air Race isn't going to fill you with a sensation of playing an epic game but it will be fun for that you will play.
If you check the original post I linked up there you will see that they are already adding two of the features I asked for. Red Bull Air Race has leader boards - which hopefully is a sign of things to come for the rest of Home - and we are getting poker which plays into my casino part. The little additions soon add up. It was 2 months ago I wrote a list of 10 things and 2 of them are already been added. - dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2I have not once said home was perfect. Infact we got talking because you commented on a massive list of improvements that I listed as been needed. What I am saying is Chess is Chess - it doesn't matter where you play it, who against, on what system - Chess is Chess (unless its battle chess lol). It's fun to the millions of people that like chess and it is not the only game for you to play on the PS3. You maybe spent the 600bucks to play Metal Gear Solid IV, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, GRAW 2, GT5P, Wipeout HD, GTA IV, Bioshock, Oblivion, or any one of the top 100+ games.
Home is a nice extra for you and others. It gives everyone a selection of games in common which is the only way I get to play one of my cousins because he is more into the RPG than where as I prefer sports and shooters. Home lets us play checkers and chess together. Good times.
Under delivered - the ***** thing isn't even out of beta yet and already millions of people have had fun in it - for free. What is wrong with fun for free? Have all the features touted been implemented yet - no, is it finished yet - no. Is it constantly getting better - YES!
I hated the demo of Resident Evil 5 - to me the limited amount of movement on the characters was beyond poor but to a friend of mine who has loved all the games in that series it is pretty sweet and he loves it. I was disappointed because it didn't reach my expectations - home hasn't reached its potential yet but it is certainly on the right track. I have made several friends who I play games with in Home - which is pretty much the main purpose of it. - StormTroopr, on 02/04/2009, -2/+3I personally remember paying for my PS3. Free? My ass.
- Robbothehood, on 02/04/2009, -1/+2You are an unabashed Home apologizer. Sony has stated Home will stay in beta indefinitely, and is no excuse for having to wait in line for an online game. Home has some uses, but the design flaws and mistakes add up to create a horrible experience. Am I supposed to be impressed by 10 free games when half are crappy sub-flash game garbage? The other offerings are completely hobbled by the forced limitation on simultaneous players.
It is a hallmark of a Home a sympathizer when they insist that you cannot complain about Home because its free. Why should I thank Sony for a cumbersome, slow, unimaginative, and ridiculously broken gaming experience? Home would've been great if they included half of the marquee features from the beta. We got a stripped piece of garbage where even the central figure, the avatar, is extremely limited. A total of around 24-30 options for all clothing and accessories is a pathetic disgrace in this generation. The fact that even the pay content, which is hideously overpriced, is petty next to the NXE's free clothing offerings is just sad.
Home might be much more if they made all your major pie-in-the-sky changes, but the idea that a service is good now because it would be much better if the features were tripled some point in the future is ludicrous and the kind of foolish thinking that Sony is preying on with the release-broken-crap-and-promise-future-excellence formula. It certainly went swimmingly for the PS Store, and I would love for Home to be something I actually wanted to be on. - dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -1/+2When you consider that they have poker due out soon on Home - which is a game you have to pay for on xbox live, people are going to play that and it saves them spending money on a game they could get free on the PC.
In the last 2 months since Home went into the open beta we in the UK have seen the Far Cry rooms added with a game, the Red Bull area added with a game and we have heard that EA are going to release the sports complex with several games to play. We also have a treasure hunt going on where the prize is a PSP and the capcom announcement of their content. All this and its in the first 2 months of an open beta.
If it keeps up at just 1 item per month we would have 36 games added in them 3 years and I think what you will see is more and more companys will get involved as the user base grows. When the PS3 was first released everyone was bitching about exclusives but now it seems most think the PS3 has the better lineup of exclusives and had the better exclusives of 2008. The same will happen with home. - dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -1/+2So basically - ***** all of us that like it and can see it's massive potential?
Just because you are short sighted and want everything NOW - doesn't mean some of us can't be patient. Your response is the same I would expect from a guy who thinks sony are failing in the market because they didn't sell 30million on their first day to jump over Microsoft. Things take time.
Think how much content will have hit Home in 3 years - then consider that most of that content will be free. Things that would cost money on rival systems like Poker are about to be implemented into Home - how can that be seen as a bad thing? - dandonia, on 02/04/2009, -1/+2Yeah thats right accuse me of getting paid to promote it - are you getting paid to shoot it down? Then STFU with stupid arguments. What would you sooner have A Red Bull Plaine and a free game or a generic game and you pay for the game? I know I have no issue with advertising if it means free content. Have you seen some of the community games sold on the 360? A lot of them are of less quality than chess, drafts, red bull air race, ice blasters and echo chrome but they still charge and they don't have the social networking aspect thrown in.
As for your BS argument about been able to play Poker on your PC - http://www.nethitters.com/games.asp?linkID=431 look familiar? How much is it going for on xbox live - I can play this on my PS3 for free along with all those flash games you mentioned - can you do that on a 360?
Look I enjoy debating issues but please stop with moronic arguments. You can play Poker on your 360 too but guess what - it costs money. They don't mostly suck - they just aren't AAA titles. They are mostly fun - you say chess isn't a big deal and neither is poker but to someone that likes chess and poker it is. I am that person. If I didn't like shooters it wouldn't mean Gears was no big thing what makes you think your opinion of chess is more valid? I can't remember the last time I struggled to get a game of chess either -so obviously plenty of people like to play.
You see it as garbage I see it as fun. I have never loaded up home to find an empty space so I am assuming other find it fun too. - wolfing, on 02/04/2009, -1/+2I also paid for my Xbox 360, and on top of that, pay $50/year for Live, so yes, it's free for the PS3

THIS.
I personally am tired of being told how great the ps3 will be. I have had one for two ***** years. Isn't it time it started BEING great and not just being told "it WILL be great, eventually?" i like the console, but come on. -
