- Pureeviljester, on 12/16/2007, -2/+21can't we all win?!
- MattnJax, on 12/16/2007, -8/+27If a well reviewed LittleBigPlanet doesn't get delayed and is released early next year, coupled with the MGS4 and GTA4 launches in the early part of the next year then yeah I think Sony can reach those numbers. Ever since I got my PS3, my neighbor has changed his mind from wanting a XBOX360 to a PS3. I mean it's only $50 more than a 360 right now and has free internet play, a blu-ray player, just as good a games, and is far more reliable. Sorry guys not trying to sound like a homer, even though I know I am, but I just can't see why anyone would pick a 360 over a PS3.
- Christbait, on 12/16/2007, -9/+22Sony has one hell of an optimistic Crystal Ball.
- logicalnoise, on 12/16/2007, -7/+20hmmm well in the end lets hope sony learned a lesson. The consumers say what price they will pay not your marketing team. I'm still a few years away from investing in a ps3 but it was stupid for people to count them out.
- SaxxonPike, on 12/16/2007, -0/+12I don't care which console comes out on top. As long as they are all competing, they will all continue to attempt to outdo one another and have cool games to deliver every year. However, most publishers are going to distribute their game on multiple consoles for best sales, making which console has the best games moot point. About the only thing that separates them are the exclusives (and despite how awesome CoD4 is, it's certainly not exclusive to any console)
- charlescheese, on 12/16/2007, -2/+12I love my PS3 so I digg stories about the PS3, why wouldn't I? There are probably about 3 million PS3 owners in the US by this point, so you can expect the negativity towards the PS3 to get less and less with time. People who buy this console absolutely love it. I know that's hard for some fanboy's to swallow, because they bought the PS3 is evil and the worst thing ever line, without giving it a fair chance themselves.
The PS3 does everything I want it to do, and it does it VERY well. I use my PS3 more than I could ever have imagined when I bought it. I never thought it would become my main music player in my living room, and now it is. I never thought I'd use it to view my family pictures, and now it's my main picture viewer. The list goes on. It's the most powerful games machine and is finally getting a lot of great games, it's the best movie player on the market, it's one of the best music players on the market, and it's got free online play. What's not to love? - loganhid, on 12/16/2007, -6/+15They will sell a lot of consoles in 2008 with top titles like MGS4, GTA4, LBP, Killzone 2, Haze, White Knight.
- tomb622, on 12/16/2007, -5/+14i think sony is just estimating here. that sony exec did just say that they were selling 400k PS3's a week worldwide but it is the holidays so. If they can maintain just 300k units a week from Jan 1-Mar 31 then they'll hit that 11mil mark. they should be able to do this though with better software available
- yohan, on 12/16/2007, -1/+7They really need to get their heads out of their arses.
I've got a PS3, and it's really missing DivX(on the way) & Flash Player 8+. When web browsing, having three YouTube pages open causes it to complain about it being out of memory and then you have to close one or more pages to load another. The future, eh? They force us to have hard drives - why can't they use a Page File?
Let us download things that aren't compatible with the PS3 even if a storage device isn't connected - not everything revolves around PS3. - truspector, on 12/16/2007, -4/+10MS was late to the market with superior hardware and a higher price point last time around and it didn't work out to well for them.
- BattleScars, on 12/16/2007, -0/+5Where did you read that? Uncharted is currently ranked the 11th best selling video game worldwide. That's not bad considering (a) There is a smaller PS3 install base and (b) there have been so many awesome games out this year.
- triplehelix, on 12/16/2007, -0/+5no, thats not all that matters. if you feel that sales numbers matter at all, then it is only global numbers that matter.
- kelowna4life, on 12/16/2007, -2/+7I think your just on crack man. PS3 sales have picked up bottom line...and with the price drop theres alot of attractivness there.
- BattleScars, on 12/16/2007, -1/+6And if I've learnt anything from Microsoft since the 360 was announced, it's this...
I'll buy it when it actually works. - drshorty, on 12/16/2007, -5/+9I gott'a say though my roommate has a PS3 and I think it's awesome, when it comes to gaming I still prefer to play my 360. I know the PS3 has a few great exclusives and it has a few more great games coming still the PS3 is rather dry, I'll make a comparison list of all the great games and there are quite a few, but to say you don't know why people prefer the 360 over it, well your lack of knowledge isn't my problem basically.
PS3--R&C, Uncharted, now Unreal as well, and perhaps Resistance(not a fav but can't knock it) and I'll throw in Motorstorm, and soon Home Little Big, GT5, MGS. I'll include Heavenly Sword too, it was ok.
XBox--Bioshock, Gears, Halo 3, Mass Effect, PGR series, Forza, and honestly I can't ignore some games in Arcade but needless to say there are 5 that I could play everyday if I had time(hell I'll say them anyway, Carcassone, Settlers, Geometry Wars, Bomberman, and Worms), Condemned, and personally I like the variety games like Kameo and Viva Pinata add, and Ace Combat and those are alright. I really can't say that with some of these games there's even a comparably similar exclusive on the PS3.
PS3 is a great system, but if you're a gamer, you're missing out if you ignore the 360. PS3 has good games, but the 360 is the one I find myself gaming on the most, and if I'm really bored, there are those excellent arcade games that can keep me occupied, or other online games. PS3, hell play the games but they don't keep my interest for that long(UT3 online might change that, but that won't be exclusive for long) - MattnJax, on 12/16/2007, -0/+4I agree. I own a PS3 and a Wii. And competition is great for all gamers cause the console makers know they have to make killer games to bring in the masses.
- rajun50, on 12/16/2007, -0/+4that's very different. (a lot of) people actually need gas. people don't need a ps3
- chadhot, on 12/16/2007, -1/+5yes, the cell processer made two predictions - that it would sell 11M of it's brothers before the end of March 08 and that you're a huge douchbag. this thing is amazing!
- Sinten, on 12/16/2007, -4/+8I would pick the 360 because of the awesome fan-*****-tastic online community it has. seriously, i love being called a homosexual by pubescent acne infested sexually repressed teenagers
- WhereAmI, on 12/16/2007, -1/+5Compared to a year ago they are positive stories. Goddamn, the FUD that went around:
PS3s will overheat --this had merit because one actually caught on fire at a demo. Luckily for Sony, that was the only one.
PS3s use 300 Watts of Power
MGS4 NOT COMING TO PS3 OMG (look at username9000's favorite stories)
http://digg.com/users/username9000
PS3 looks like crap when running old and new PS2 games!!!
PS3 can't do 1080i --I hold Call of Duty 4 that says otherwise
Sony shuts down lik sang lets not buy Sony --Just recently Nintendo shut down a Wii mod chip making factory. You know what that story said? "WIii aint going to take it"-Puns. Nothing about Nintendo doing the same thing Sony and Microsoft does, just puns.
A story was even Dugg right before the release that the PS3 would be recalled. It wasn't even out yet. Luckily that story was buried.
There are still stories that are against the PS3.
A nice collection of all the anti PS3 articles(from a year ago+)

http://digg.com/users/wageslaven --he has alot of Diggs, not going to go through them all
And keep hitting next. - charlescheese, on 12/16/2007, -4/+8I'm glad they went with an expensive machine though. The power of the machine, the bluray drive, the wifi, all of it makes it into the great piece of hardware it is. If you removed any of those pieces it wouldn't be half as compelling to me or to other people. If the PS3 was a me too machine that only did what the 360 did, and cost the same, and came out later, Sony would be in bad shape right now. As it stands, they have the best piece of hardware on the market, and a lot of room to grow with what they've got.
- charlescheese, on 12/16/2007, -6/+9I agree that that's why they would choose that today, but anyone with just a little bit of foresight will see that Sony's home service may be even better than live and is free. Also, I think most people are capable of looking at the release schedule for 08 and beyond. The games coming to ps3 over the next couple years are not to be trifled with. The biggest, most anticipated games are coming on PS3 either exclusively in many cases or multi platform, as in the case of GTA4. Either way, PS3 has the strongest release schedule coming up by far. Plus we know Sony has a lot up their sleeve right now, and a lot in development that we don't know about yet. Sony's first/second party machine is a very potent force.
- triplehelix, on 12/16/2007, -1/+4first off, it won't be soon, second off, the ps3 version will support mods which the 360 version won't. how will the 360 version be superior in your opinion?
- krische, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3Maybe because although their business tactics may be questionable at times, their products actually work! (case in point: RROD)
- MattnJax, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3Already won? It's just started. 360 had a 1 year start. This coming year might be the one to show a winner.
- krische, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3Obviously you haven't played Warhawk on the PSN. Everybody on headsets seems to actually act/talk mature. It actually makes the game more enjoyable.
- BattleScars, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3At least the PS3 actually has a web browser.
- triplehelix, on 12/16/2007, -2/+5you have no idea how many really good articles about the ps3 actually hit the front page, only to be buried by other console fanboys. not because its inaccurate or even just fluff, but solely because it shines a good light on the ps3 and shows how it trumps (in some ways) the other consoles.
- BattleScars, on 12/16/2007, -4/+7It has everything xbox live has but seamlessly integrates it into a 3D environment and is offered for free.
Yes, it boggles the mind as to why people think it will outdo live. - triplehelix, on 12/16/2007, -1/+4case in point, this story is now off the front page. no pro-sony conspiracy group, but there sure as hell is an anti-sony group burring as much good sony news as possible.
- krische, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3So how are you going to enjoy those games for the 4-6 weeks you don't have your console?
- BattleScars, on 12/16/2007, -1/+4The game is awesome on the PS3. I can't really imagine how it could be improved by porting it over to the 360.
- DavidGX, on 12/16/2007, -3/+6And the "m$" just removed all credibility from your post. Good day sir.
- FriedTurkey, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3I think the PS3 bashing just hit such a critical mass that PS3 bashing got really old. There was nowhere to go with the story but to take it positive. Does anybody but Xbox fanboys really want to read another story about how the PS3 sucks? As somebody who really doesn't have a corporate gaming console affiliation I rather read reasons to get a PS3 than the same tired diatribe on what is wrong with the PS3.
- BattleScars, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3It's BLU ray. Not BLUE ray.
- mattyice11, on 12/16/2007, -5/+7LBP will be a critical darling, but it won't sell at all. Kinda like Ratchet and Uncharted - both have flopped in the sales department despite solid reviews.
- inactive, on 12/16/2007, -3/+5Winning: to overcome competition.
No. - shinythingy, on 12/16/2007, -6/+8i don't think it will be 11 million but i do think it will be close to 10 million
- inactive, on 12/16/2007, -2/+4Don't call me young one, as far you know I could be your dad.
Second, the question was "can't we all win?"
Not, "who won?"
I suggest you lay off the booze until you regain your reading comprehension. - DavidGX, on 12/16/2007, -5/+7If I've learned anything from sony since the PS3 was announced, it's this...
I'll believe it when I see it. - chedabob, on 12/16/2007, -2/+4Home is nothing like Live. Live is an online service, Home is a social networking tool. Stop comparing them.
- BlueSkyfish, on 12/16/2007, -2/+4But remember the Wii is completely dominating in sales everywhere with no signs of slowing down. It came out the same time as the PS3 and already passed 11 million units sold back in July. It would be pretty hard to beat something like that.
- krische, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1So because Microsoft gives up doesn't mean Sony should be the winner?
- Chirp08, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1are they making money though? I thought they were losing money on these when they were expensive, now that they are much cheaper they must be getting hit hard, no? I know no console manufacturer makes money on the hardware but none are as advanced as the ps3
- krische, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1Well, seeing as the Unreal Engine is now optimized for the PS3 with the release of UT3. Developing games should be alot easier from now on.
- BattleScars, on 12/17/2007, -0/+1"When my launch system was out for repair I was still having more fun with it than a ps3 :P"
But you obviously don't own a PS3. So how would you know? Whatever dude, you have fun sitting around waiting for your refurb to arrive so that you can get verbally abused on your 6000th team slayer match. I'll just get back to playing Uncharted :D - dansmeek, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1the only mistake they made was going w/256mb instead of 512 in the graphic processor. this isn't a huge mistake. it just means that programmers are going to have to put more effort into utilizing the specs.
i know in this day and age though... thats a dangerous move. i think in PGR (the recent one), they tried to implement lighting (day night, etc.) on each level through ENTIRELY NEW MAPS, rather than just altering a base map for daytime or nighttime. and incidentally, the game wouldn't fit onto a DVD and they had to remove some of the finished levels from the final version. - naonao, on 12/16/2007, -2/+3Relevant how?
- mattyice11, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1Not really because different genres appeal to different markets. Japan won't get our FPS games over there and they don't give a *****. I won't get their RPG selection in the US on my 360 and it doesn't bother me at all. The 360 will be the lead platform on pretty much all the games I care about.
