- amrush4th, on 02/25/2008, -2/+29Word on the street is that he is going to Atari. Good luck with that Phil.
- Jarett, on 02/25/2008, -6/+32Out of all the top Sony execs I always thought of Phil as the straight-shooter kind of guy. Oh well, it'll be interesting to see what he pursues next.
- OpCzar, on 02/25/2008, -1/+26If I had a rubber ducky I'd squeeze it in his honor right now.
- Akaji, on 02/25/2008, -1/+21Which means he'll be out of a job again in a few months, unless he can somehow get Atari to pull a complete 180...
- Daniel591992, on 02/25/2008, -5/+24What a stupid time to leave. Right when the PS3 begins to do well...
- inactive, on 02/25/2008, -0/+14...which, ironically, describes Atari's current situation.
- flamov, on 02/25/2008, -9/+22I have a Playstation 3, and I enjoy it. I've had a hatred for Sony for the past 2 years (Regarding the PS3) because of all the images that were being built around it. Despite all of that, I can tell this is a 'sad day' for Sony and Sony Fans.
- mrfreeziexp, on 02/25/2008, -1/+12What's even stranger is the rumor that he could be going to Atari... O_o
- Wynner3, on 02/26/2008, -1/+12What's up with so many people leaving Sony? Is 10-15 years the maximum amount of time you can spend with the company?
- ViperX116, on 02/26/2008, -0/+7That's a long time in the business world.
- theaceoffire, on 02/25/2008, -3/+9Yeah, thank god no one else had/gave bad PR for their consoles.
- Intangible360, on 02/25/2008, -2/+8At the very least, the one guy who wasn't always shooting his mouth off like crazy Ken.
- ricksite, on 02/26/2008, -0/+6Maybe he was a closet HD DVD supporter and realized it was time to move on.
- TangentThought, on 02/25/2008, -4/+9Best of luck to him.
- VeganG, on 02/26/2008, -0/+5I predict that Peter Moore, Phil Harrison, and Perrin Kaplan will form a supergroup know as P3.
- loganhid, on 02/25/2008, -0/+4which streets you lurking in
- deaftly, on 02/25/2008, -2/+6Sony is so stupid for letting this guy go, he was the only person that was trying to fix what Katuragi ***** up so bad with the image of the PS3. Rumor has it hes going to Atari.
- inactive, on 02/25/2008, -3/+7"like go in your computer and spill your info on the net" fixed it for you.
- inactive, on 02/25/2008, -0/+4I spoke with Mr. Harrison at GDC in 2005 and he could not have been a more pleasant person. He deserves the best, hopefully Nintendo will pick him up.
- zeejay, on 02/25/2008, -0/+4Yet here we are in 2008, and Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb are the closest thing to "high-level" that we have.
- nobelief, on 02/26/2008, -0/+3PS2 is still outselling the PS3
- grat2001, on 02/25/2008, -3/+6Man I guess Sony is really trying to turn the page in '08. With a new ad company and new leadership we'll see how "fresh" the Sony lineup will look come this Spring. BOL Phil.
- spacecheese, on 02/25/2008, -1/+4PH: "You will very rarely see games considered as culture or art. That's what I would change. Games are such a widely enjoyed entertainment pastime that it is completely appropriate that they be covered by the kind of high-level journalists you expect to get other cultural reporting from."
- Elranzer, on 02/26/2008, -0/+310-15 at that level of executive, he's probably ready to retire in style. Hell, I would.
- Mrdudeperson, on 02/26/2008, -4/+7The dudes a nice guy, but I gave up Sony a few years back when they just kinda stopped making anything real interesting.
- Narrwald, on 02/25/2008, -0/+3Huh.
- inactive, on 02/25/2008, -2/+5That's fine, because you probably won't see it for the next 5 years.
- nphase, on 02/26/2008, -1/+4Man, what a huge "I told you so," with the Wii doing so well in Japan. BOL Phil.
- inactive, on 02/26/2008, -1/+4Maybe he wanted to leave before, but didn't want to be seen as leaving because the PS3 was a total failure. Now that it looks like the PS3 is turning around, he won't always be remembered for a ***** up situation like Kutaragi.
- goofygarber, on 02/26/2008, -1/+4As far as I've heard, he was fired. The resignation is just a courtesy. Something must have been going on...
- Richgarner, on 02/26/2008, -0/+2Agreed. Signing exclusive contracts is nothing like paying billions to companies in exchange for their promise never to use your competitors. That's a little short of a monopoly and the sooner he can separate himself from the unethical decisions behind that company the better.
- magicaltrevor, on 02/26/2008, -0/+2So you could say he's pulling a Peter Moore, and I don't mean the Rock Band type.
- AL7AIR, on 02/26/2008, -0/+2He'll be missed on the next SCE WWS press event, at least I'll miss him. When he had to "compete" with ex Xbox's Peter Moore on stage, he always was the next door gamer kind-o-guy in my opinion that Moore wasn't. So good luck to him, wherever he'll end up :)
- battletrax, on 02/25/2008, -2/+3Alone in the dark is their only hope really.
- apena89, on 02/26/2008, -1/+2or M$ paying for exclusive GTA4 content.
M$ fan boys bitch and moan about the rare events in which sony pays for things like this but ignore the fact that that sort of strategy is almost ALL M$ has ever done.
and remember kids, halo was supposed to be on mac and PS2. - apoc06, on 02/27/2008, -0/+1peter moore left MS at the worst possible time. right after they admitted fault behind all the faulty consoles and investing billions into the warranty program doesnt sound like doing well to me.
- WhereAmI, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Sounds like a challenge that he is willing to take...
- apena89, on 02/26/2008, -0/+1no you don't.
- magicaltrevor, on 02/26/2008, -2/+3I didn't particularly like Phil Harrison at first. But his famous Home presentation, and the work he's done for the PlayStation brand over the last 12 months, will never be forgotten. We'll miss ya Phil!
- Asianwaste, on 02/25/2008, -1/+2He'd be going where he's needed. Atari has released some decent games over the past few years but their stock always seems to show piss poor results.
- NyteStarNyne, on 02/25/2008, -1/+2I hope he's not taking the rubber duckies with him.
- inactive, on 02/26/2008, -1/+2by the way your dollar is going i don't thing it would have any meaning in the future either.
- boombye, on 02/26/2008, -0/+1The exclusive GTA4 content on console isn't cool for the ps3 fans, but for all football fans, having only one NFL licensed game that's the same every frakkin year is getting annoying.. All their sports games ever do is put in a new roster or something, update uniforms and shoes, and try to make the crowd look a lil better. EA Sports works on the shortest deadlines you'll see in the industry..
It's not cool to have only one NFL game, and it's not cool to have only one console with exclusive content... As for Blu Ray or HD DVD, I won't even get into it. - SniperSlap, on 02/26/2008, -0/+1This will likely only result in Sony gaming continuing to suck.
I find it is a lot of short lived failures to deliver anything exceptional. The quality of gaming will remain in decline. - rmw132, on 02/26/2008, -0/+1Rumor has it he's going to Atari:
http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/02/25/rumor-phil-har ... - BugMeNot2, on 02/26/2008, -1/+2Motahstom.
Good luck to you, Mr. Harrison. Though I'd advise you not go work at Atari. - boombye, on 02/26/2008, -0/+1Like that Ken Kutaragi guy.
- Managua8Green, on 02/26/2008, -0/+1exactly, so I don't believe I wasted 400 pounds that I never had to begin with!
confused yet? - boombye, on 02/26/2008, -0/+1I call mine the Blu Ray player.
- pikaboy259, on 02/26/2008, -2/+3Good riddance.
