I was expecting a radical re-design but that's not bad though. - AlJensen, on 08/20/2008, -6/+95enough revisions, design me the PSP 2 with the second analog stick so i can play FPS anywhere i want
- serpentor, on 08/21/2008, -4/+63Just passing on some anonymous (unconfirmed) info from a PSP blog:
"The real imrovement list...
* Brighter LCD with quicker response time (12ms vs the current 60ms in the slim - prevents ghosting and black smearing)
* Built-in microphone
* Improved UMD lens system with less power usage
* More durable case
* Longer-life battery (~4200mAh)
* 480p video output being considered, might not be in the final (vs. 480i in the PSP-2000)
BTW, the first gen PSP-3000 will NOT have the LCD with the quicker response time; if you want that, hold off until they start selling them in the multi-colored starter packs." - apena89, on 08/21/2008, -2/+56ugh they need to stop making these simple improvements and just make a PSP2 already!
Before Microsoft makes a hand held that is very suitable for the hardcore gamers and has dual analog or touch screen. - NathanCH, on 08/21/2008, -6/+55480p. That's impressive, it's the same output as the Wii.

- arcticblue, on 08/21/2008, -1/+26I got a PSP-2000 the morning of release here in Japan (I think the states got them first...may be wrong about that). Anyway, I noticed that the ghosting issue not nearly as bad as it was on the first PSP, but it was still there. When I mentioned this here on Digg, I was buried all to hell. Good to see that they are improving the screen even more, but I don't think I'll get one. I'm happy with my PSP-2000.
One thing about the info you posted though... I'm pretty sure the PSP-2000 actually does 480p output. Games won't play unless you are using cables and a tv that support progressive scan. The XMB (along with movies and stuff) will work in interlaced, but that's it. There's an option in the XMB to switch between interlaced and deinterlaced. - TangentThought, on 08/21/2008, -5/+30And yet I can't take my Wii and play it on the go.
- nerdherder, on 08/21/2008, -4/+28And the same price :/
- Varz, on 08/20/2008, -4/+28Fortunately no.
- Jwoey, on 08/21/2008, -2/+24I used to make comments like yours until I bought a PSP. I love mine.
- timusca, on 08/20/2008, -3/+25I'm sure there's a dirty joke in there somewhere... I'm simply too lazy.
- gavdana, on 08/21/2008, -10/+32No offense, but until there's dual analog, it is bad.
- aaabatteries, on 08/21/2008, -0/+22.avi playback first party?
nice. - douglasr007, on 08/21/2008, -1/+23Coming soon....a redesign to the Nintendo DS.
I don't know...just countering the PSP hate. - solidus636, on 08/21/2008, -0/+20Just..return it....
- FasmTrout, on 08/21/2008, -1/+20Only with SNES cartridges.
- tidu, on 08/21/2008, -4/+21none taken
- JasonHaley, on 08/21/2008, -0/+16I dugg you up because you mentioned that you got buried to hell for stating the truth...so I felt bad and thought I'd make it up to you.
I hope others will help digg you back up to heaven! - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -1/+13Why does it have a windows key?
- SpongeBad, on 08/21/2008, -0/+12How is 30 million+ units sold a "flop"? It's the first time another handheld has had any kind of reasonable sales since Nintendo launched the GameBoy.
- RyanWilliams, on 08/21/2008, -0/+11Erm, it's a handheld. The Wii and PlayStation 2 Slim are about the smallest they can currently get 2001 console technology.
What're you expecting? Current-gen home console graphics on a handheld...? - WasabiBomb, on 08/21/2008, -0/+11I did the effects on Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror and Logan's Shadow, and I LOVED the video ghosting. The slow redraw rate between bright and dark pixels functioned as a sort of motion blur. I really took advantage of that "feature". :)
- AmusedToDeath, on 08/21/2008, -13/+24Eh. Same *****, different day.
- polumrak, on 08/21/2008, -0/+101) Didn't fit in their budget (same reason DS has a slow CPU),
2) didn't exist (same reason original iPod didn't have USB 2.0 connectivity),
3) or wasn't an issue (you still bought it). - shawnanigans, on 08/21/2008, -2/+12I'm the same way with my penis.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -1/+11I love my PSP Slim. I probably won't have the cash to dole out for another one though, even if it's better. College education > portable device that can practically do anything. I'm afraid that's the truth.
- solidus636, on 08/21/2008, -0/+10Those are some pretty good improvements...and if he can return his old one and get this one...why not..?
- KMartSheriff, on 08/21/2008, -1/+11CIAVT's is better cuz it can run Crysis....amazingly...
- kmb1794, on 08/21/2008, -0/+9you should start reading gaming blogs.
- Psythik, on 08/21/2008, -0/+9Why are you still using 1.5 when custom firmware is better?
- tm13lke, on 08/21/2008, -0/+9well, the left one does aim (with defaults, anyway)
i mean, you can basically just hit forward the whole time on the right analog - OwdenBowden, on 08/21/2008, -0/+8There is not much you can do in the redesign department. It actually is a properly and proportionately put together. What I would rather see from Sony is a burnable UMD.
- BBrains, on 08/21/2008, -1/+9And let me guess -- no support for Pandora batteries (so no homebrew apps, etc)? No thanks, I'll stick with my phat model.
- Renian, on 08/21/2008, -1/+9FPS...? On...a console...?

HE'S A WITCH! - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -0/+8I'd say the same about your comments
- VelvetoneFusion, on 08/21/2008, -4/+12As many as it takes for them to get it right.
- Mysk, on 08/21/2008, -0/+8it already supports skype.
- Skafia, on 08/21/2008, -4/+11I just ***** bought a psp 2 days ago. You *****.
- drakia, on 08/21/2008, -0/+7It may not support the current version (Nobody will know until it's out) but there has to be SOME way for Sony to do service work on it, and that will be found out sooner or later.
- mv1008, on 08/21/2008, -3/+10Right now the only reason i have a psp is for emulators, and homebrew apps. If it weren't for that I unfortunately would never use it.
- nerdherder, on 08/21/2008, -2/+9Its 'Do not want!'
Get it right. - Xihix, on 08/21/2008, -3/+9480p would be cool, but I'd probably never use it... Hell, I only have one because I got it for free, and I only play Super Nintendo games on it.
- handheldchimp, on 08/21/2008, -1/+7Oh man. That's just begging to be mad fun of.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -0/+6Those ***** hoops are there cause ***** use it to pirate games. Till Sony can give us homebrew without piracy, they HAVE to put those hoops in there or developers will simply stop making games for PSP
- chokeaduck, on 08/21/2008, -0/+6I'm glad I picked up a red GoW Psp2001 about 2 months ago.
- Typhoon2009, on 08/21/2008, -0/+6I thought the current PSP-2000 had Skype?
