- ichbinladen, on 06/28/2009, -10/+84Is Sony trying to go out of business?
- LiamIsOnFire, on 06/28/2009, -5/+48Can't really blame them, after the smashing success of Nokia's N-Gage.
Oh wait... - ZeroCubed, on 06/28/2009, -9/+49Hello Sony. I'd like you to meet HELL NO.
- JKAL, on 06/28/2009, -3/+33This device will either be very cheap, around $200 or 20000JPY, or it will be expensive an only aimed at the non-Japanese market.
In Japan mobile phones are changed at least every 9months, no-one in Japan is going to buy an expensive device and be stuck with it over a year. Otherwise Sony will be making the same mistake apple made with their expensive iPhone, even now none of the locals want to be seen with an iPhone, "it is sooo last year." - Chrysalii, on 06/28/2009, -3/+29The return of the N-Gage.
- rjshatz, on 06/28/2009, -1/+22The guys at Nokia said it would be a good idea.
- MrMangopants, on 06/28/2009, -0/+16They've still sold 51.6 million units. Why would they give up on it? True, the DS has sold almost twice as many, but Nintendo will always have a stranglehold on the hand held market.
- dagamer34, on 06/28/2009, -1/+15No, the n-gage looked like a taco. That's why it failed.
- modpancake, on 06/28/2009, -1/+9Yeah, this time is just for the lulz.
- foltaggio, on 06/28/2009, -0/+7more like an iPhone with buttons?
- onimusha115, on 06/28/2009, -3/+10I think the n-gage was before its time. If it were to come out now as a touch screen phone that was a bit wider for a d pad and buttons on each side it would do ok, and could have much more functionality. I dont know if the n-gage supported online play but it would be possible now with 3G networks. I think the iphone as it right tho, most of the games are all short fun games that you can pick up and play for a few minutes to kill some time. I never really got the point of long involving games on a handheld like you find on a psp or DS.
- NeoTechni, on 06/29/2009, -1/+7Cell phones don't transmit via satellite, that's why.
- NeoTechni, on 06/28/2009, -2/+8PSP had the ability to call people since the 2000/slim and lite series came out (via Skype)
PSP Go now has the ability to use Skype while tethered to a cell phone - GuyDanger, on 06/29/2009, -0/+6Here is what I want my new PSP Gophone to do...
1. An internet capable cell phone (Emails and such)
2. Music player
3. Video Games (Actual PSP Games)
4. Video Player (HD capable)
5. Blue tooth and IR ready (some sorta universal remote function)
6. GPS Navigation System
7. PDA functionality (with an app store like the Iphone)
8. 5 megapixel camara (with flash)
If they did this they would blow the Iphone out of the water! - dsmx, on 06/28/2009, -0/+6Still better than the first of the 3g phones then.
- ZachJack, on 06/28/2009, -2/+7Wow, with that battery life, it'll last at least 4 hours
- j4nj1m3n3z, on 06/28/2009, -5/+10The PSP GoPhone??!?
- japandave, on 06/28/2009, -1/+6It is about time! Don't even think to equate the PSP (Phone) with N-gage.
Think about it- A (touch screen)-hopefully PSP Phone... That would totally rock- and might even offer some competition to the iPhone. When Sony first came out with the PSP it was innovative and unlike any tech anyone had ever seen. Perhaps their R&D dragged their feet too long when the iPhone came out. If they had released a PSP Phone at the time of the iPhone's debut there would have been some pretty good competition. - Moosejoose, on 06/29/2009, -0/+59. A replaceable battery.
- puppyoneb, on 06/28/2009, -2/+7I think that was actually the point of the Sony Memory Stick, Duo, UMD movies for PSP, BetaMax, MiniDisc, SDDS, etc.
- Zcrubby, on 06/29/2009, -1/+6PS3 is actually selling more than the xbox outside of the US.
And the PSP is actually doing quite good for being in a market almost totally controlled by Nintendo. - NeoTechni, on 06/29/2009, -0/+5"Forgive me for leaving out the details. Ass."
Funny, you didn't forgive me. Why should I, you? Ass. - puppyoneb, on 06/29/2009, -2/+7WELL, SONY *IS* IN ALL CAPS. IT JUST MIGHT WORK.
- satori3000, on 06/28/2009, -1/+5iPhone has games covered well, just not the best control system. If they could marry the iphone controls with a PSP control system they may have something
- PlusTheBear, on 06/28/2009, -12/+16The best thing they could have done at E3 was announce the PSP Go merged with a phone. But now another year will go by, Apple will dominate the stupid market, google the techsavy, and we all go about our lives without buying a ps4.
- onimusha115, on 06/28/2009, -2/+6If sony were to market this right it could do pretty well. Make it a touch screen phone to compete with the big players now, with a slide out game pad instead of a keyboard. Its a perfect time to do it with the addition of the psp GO since they already will have downloadable games for that. When i first saw the GO i really thought it was going to have phone functionality, it would only make sense, would be more useful and you would always have the ability to play against people via the phone network. I just think sony is going to have too many products that do the same thing between the normal psp, the psp go, the psp phone. I dont know what it is with game console manufacturers nowadays who think having a whole slew of options is a good idea, I think it just confuses the consumer. I dont think the psp phone will be for average people who want to play minigames, it will more so be aimed towards gamers who see it as a reason to dump thier current phones, so it has to be a damn good phone as well so people see the need to get this instead of a normal psp.
- akatsuki, on 06/28/2009, -2/+6Only years too late. It could have been done a long time ago. But Sony has lost the plot entirely, witness the more -expensive PSPGo when they needed a cheaper one.
- falser, on 06/28/2009, -2/+6Will sidetalking be one of its features?
- jasmus, on 06/28/2009, -1/+5The problem with a device that tries to be everything is it generally fails to be good at any one of the things it wants to be. I can not imagine a device with controls for real gaming and real phone use that is in anyway a practical, compact solution. The iPhone only somewhat succeeds because of it's multi-touch screen, doing away with physical buttons and allowing a dynamic control scheme. I say only somewhat, because I still think physical buttons can't be beat for controlling games.
- doshindude, on 06/28/2009, -3/+7"cellphone game gear hybrid"? sounds like they are more interested in the Sega Game Gear than the PSP...
- Dylson, on 06/28/2009, -1/+4Ew
- NeoTechni, on 06/28/2009, -1/+4"Support Homebrew without the bitch-ass patches, and the PSP will last forever!"
Except piracy will be possible on unhacked systems, and PSP will lose all development support. And be dead overnight - s4g4n, on 06/28/2009, -1/+4ngage anyone?
- comeradealexi, on 06/28/2009, -3/+6iPhone say they are competing with PSP but they are not but now PSP IS competing with the likes of an iPhone. hmm
- jasmus, on 06/28/2009, -1/+4I would laugh so hard at people holding that up to their face to talk into.
- MrFreeman, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2what are you five? who the hell considers hell a cuss word besides religious nuts

That might have worked...RIP King of the late night Infomercials - JasonHaley, on 06/29/2009, -1/+3If PSP had satellite phone capabilities I'd buy it,
- Okinsley, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2Sony needs to get it's ***** together. Like Microsoft did with windows 7.
- bpwrinn, on 06/28/2009, -4/+6The new PSP design is practically a phone already, just needs a keypad and the ability to actually call someone.
- clockworknation, on 06/28/2009, -3/+5FANTASTIC!!
- Jonathunder, on 06/29/2009, -1/+3Cuz the Ngage totally worked really well
- GuyDanger, on 06/29/2009, -1/+2Sony could have ruled these markets long ago if the left hand talked the right hand once in awhile. Another example is the Ghostbusters video game. A Sony licensed property comes out better on the Xbox 360 than the PS3. Get your act together Sony Execs!
- mxdxo, on 06/29/2009, -1/+2how old is this rumor?
- spyrewolf, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1i don't see a new piece of hardware, i see it rolling out with the expanded PSN in 2010 I think that it will combine cellphone with remote play similar to what the ps3 and psp do,(most people are not aware that some ps3 games will run on psp via remoteplay, a service that turn your psp into a virtual ps3) hell being able to play ps3 games on my cell phone will be great,
- Sairgem, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1How's that rock you've been living under?
- NeoTechni, on 06/28/2009, -3/+4"It simply can't be saved"
Cause it's not in need of saving. - Khast, on 06/28/2009, -1/+2Well, I hope you have a damn good data plan. If you thought that your country's iPhone data plan was ridiculous due to the "higher data needs" I don't even think AT&T would have an unlimited plan, especially if you download PSP games, and play multi-player games through 3G or any other mobile broadband service.
- Khast, on 06/28/2009, -1/+2Dude, if you have a Vagina..AND you have centipedes in it...you should probably see a doctor ASAP...screw that, go to a hospital...NOW. Ask for a permanent vasectomy, that will get rid of the centipede problem.
