- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+26Well it kind of sucks I have 4 gimped controllers, but at least Sony finally decided to add this "last-gen feature".
- skunkworker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20Quoted from 1up about the TouchSense
" We did enjoy the various rumble effects employed by the new Dual Shock 3 controller, though: As explosions rattled around Snake, we could actually feel the direction from which they were coming based on what part of the controller virbated "
http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3162991 - Cowtastic, on 10/10/2007, -19/+34While I'm glad this is happening, I now have to spend EVEN MORE to get my ps3 to function normally
- djgeki, on 10/10/2007, -7/+22C'mon...you KNEW it was going to happen. Sony's loyal fanbase made too much of a fuss about the missing feature when it was announced, and the murmuring grew to a small roar over the short span of the PS3's life to date.
- loganhid, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17and Nintendo said ''No on wants online gaming''
- Phoenixus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15Spend more? What else did you have to buy to have it "function normally?" It came with everything, and you didn't have to buy add-ons to get a full package *cough*
- krische, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13The phrase 'never satisfied' comes to mind.
- BadassCheese, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Why would you buy three extra controllers? What games were you playing that had four player mode? I knew they were coming out with rumble so i didn't buy any extra controllers. I can, however, say that after playing the PS3 for a couple months, I don't miss rumble (others might though).
- Baelorn, on 10/10/2007, -6/+16Rumble isn't a normal feature..it isn't something that was broken. Now they have chosen to implement it to make you happy and you're still complaining? I admit it sucks that I'm gonna have to dish out money for a new controller but I knew it[PS3] didn't have rumble when I bought it.
- drizzlelicious, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Did you also buy a 1080p TV, bluetooth headset, keyboard, mouse and everything else so your PS3 coulid function normally?
Bah, phoenixus beat me to it, but I still like my post - Phoenixus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9So...would you guys rather have home released without a feature such as game launching, for it to be added at a later date? What happened to when you guys praise a developer for delaying a game because he wants to make sure it's right?
- writh3n, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9did you even read the ***** article?
- Phoenixus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Wrong. It's been confirmed that a vast majority of the already released titles, especially the big ones (heavenly sword, warhawk, ect) will all support rumble via software patch.
- AntBing, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I love the analog sticks.
- TheWorm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9The funny thing though is that they tried to make it seem like they didn't want rumble anyways and that it was so "last gen".
- knowitman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Looks like rumble is last gen. This is a new type of rumble.
- hightower77, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Not a shock. I need to get another controller anyways. But I'm not going to make a point to get one of these or replace my current one. I haven't missed rumble at all in PS3 gaming. I actually had kinda already put it out of my mind.
Sorry bout the pun at the beginning. I suck. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Don't forget Microsoft: "HDMI isn't necessary on our console"
- Starflyer59, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7"The reality is, you don’t need HDMI for HD gaming." -Todd Holmdahl
http://interviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/1190/Xbox-360- ... - thomasprebble, on 10/10/2007, -11/+16I thought Sony said rumble was so "last gen"!
- euphemizeme, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Actually being an early adapter is good... I think you meant adopter.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Way to RTFA, moron.
- joe90210, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8it does, the 1up guys mentioned how you can feel which direction on the screen the rumbling is coming from
- alx242, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3RTA: Japan is getting it in November...and TGS is held where?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5It's a name for a controller, who gives a *****? If they called it A1 Lucky Best Golden Dragon Hyperzoanoid everyone would still buy it.
Sheesh, it's like people *look* for things to bitch about. Generation Z = the whiniest generation. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4"for those who didn't hear them dismiss rumble"
Amazing, you just pointed out the full quote for the 3 people that weren't aware of this yet. *golf clap* - VictoryGin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Same here. When I heard PS3 didn't have rumble (this was after I had a PS3) I was like "it doesn't?" Not that I don't like rumble, I do, but I honestly didn't notice it wasn't there until it was brought up
- skunkworker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Yea that does suck, unless sony offers a trade in for say 15-20 per controller to update them to rumble. Then I would be fine with that.
- themacx, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8to say it's out in Europe in 2008 will only stop people getting a PS3 right now if it means you have to come back and buy new hardware.. bad BAD move. the same goes for Home... TGS hasn't been good for PS.. we announce a ***** load of delays! great! :-| b.t.w i got 2 sixaxis for sale... deu spring 2008 for a sweet price (get 2 for 1)
- Listor, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5guess the incredible battery life of the ps3 controller wont be so incredible any more.
- Murdats, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3dont forget how delayed the PS3 was aswell.
- wafflez, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7well if someone sued you for the patent and it was a $90 million price to be paid, would you say A. 'We couldn't afford to implement rumble', or B. 'We don't need it anyways'? From a purely business standpoint, you never want to tell your investors that you're short on money or having legal problems. SOO, thankfully this immersion lawsuit has blown over and they made a rumbling controller. I forgive them for lying about it a tad bit because i reaaally want rumble in mgs4 and killzone =3.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5It should. They announced they had come to an agreement to implement it some time ago. Obviously that argument was never the real reason.
- dysonlu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You'd have to buy games and media content to get it to "function normally" too. So what's your point?
- CoolJammer00, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2so how did Kaz Hirai explain the missing rumble in the first place?
- loganhid, on 10/10/2007, -7/+9Can people stop dissing Sony on their statement ''Rumble is so last-gen''. Alright Sony said a few things about not being able to make rumble compatible with motion-sensing but they heard the consumers and gave us what we wanted.
Remember Nintendo even made stupid statements like ''No one wants online gaming'' and MS saying ''HDMI is unnecessary on our console'' - Turbojugend27, on 10/10/2007, -5/+6But lets not forget Home is delayed for 4 billion years.....again! I think that is Sonys plan to make the Ps3 has a so called 10 year life cycle, delay everthing
- andshewas, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3No matter what, there will be people mad about Sony adding rumble to the sixaxis, but there will be people glad about it. Excited, even. The stupid part? We all have to wait until Spring 2008 to see what it's like. Why bother announcing it only to make us wait forever to experience it?
- knowitman, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4For all the people quoting Sony on saying that rumble is last gen. It is.
This controller has the touch sense which is a directional rumble. It's kinda like moving from 2D graphics to 3D graphics. - jacksons98, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1@TheWorm In the end they gave gamers what they wanted, you have to give Sony kudos for that.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I did. - Nerd.
- Murdats, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2who the hell praises devs for delays?
have you not heard how people bitched about how vista was delayed.
have you not heard how everyone bitches anytime any game is delayed.
what we want if for things the be released when they said they would, dont say, yes we can have that done for you by tommorow, then go on to say, 1 day isnt long enough, maybe in a month. - explodey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You've got your ps3 confused with your 360 (Wireless, Battery packs, HD-DVD)
- hockey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Ok maybe this is just me and forgive me if I insult you but I gotta say this.
I find joypad rumble and force feedback to be the most annoying thing in gaming ever. Every time I pick up a game the first thing I do is turn rumble off regardless of the title. Maybe I'm old school or maybe I don't get "immersed enough" but I just don't see what the appeal of that feature is.
Can someone please tell me what the appeal is? I'm being serious here, for something that seems to be so minor (to me at least) people go on about how it's the biggest thing since sliced wonder bread if it's not included in something.
Is it REALLY that big of a deal to your gaming or is it just another "lol let's use this as another excuse to hate on the PS3" thing?
Thanks. - Baelorn, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Sorry, my mistake..I meant specifically for PS3..I was trying to say that it wasn't something for the PS3 that just didn't work /fail
- pigfister, on 10/10/2007, -8/+9and HOME is delayed just like all ps3 titles.
- Gumby_Mac, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Couple this with the rumored $400 40GB PS3 and I'm sold. Or even better, the ultimate Christmas present, a PS3/GT5 bundle!
I love the amount of games available for the 360, but the 30% failure rate and red-ring-of-death is keeping out of the M$ camp. 30%?!? That's like every 3rd 360 is going to eventually turn into a beautiful white door stop. Well, maybe not beautiful... the front view of the 360 still looks like a maxi-pad to me. - otatop, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1"GameDaily BIZ confirmed with Sony today that the technology in the recently announced DualShock 3 is identical to that in the DualShock 2. So anybody expecting Immersion's next-gen rumble technology can just let those dreams pass into the ether."
- mjparme, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I personally think rumble is over-rated. I don't miss it in the slightest. Most of the time I didn't even notice the controller rumbling. Rumble is a worthless feature that is only there for "gadget-factor", doesn't really add anything to the game IMHO.
- dollydolman, on 12/22/2007, -0/+0When the dualshock 3 is released, they will probably release patches for the games that need dualshock (personally I don't like it but anyway) that can be downloaded from the Playstation store. The wonders of digital distribution.
