- loganhid, on 10/11/2007, -5/+31I was very impressed by the line of games and increase support Sony has dedicated to its online network. I'm also excited about 'Home' and the possibilities of the new interactive and integrated system
- Yousty, on 10/11/2007, -18/+7you're seriously excited about Home? It looks like an extremely boring version of the Sims
- g3r4, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2This isn't really comparable to Sims or any game for that matter. Its more of a 3D MySpace/Facebook/Pownce that's between playing games. You get to customize your avatar and your house which is comparable to your profile, and then you go out to meet people and play games with them.
- jacksons98, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4@Yousty I think Sony would love to have it compared to the Sims which is one of the largest gaming franchises that millions of people enjoy.
- JagoX, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Home is BORING as all hell. I'm on the beta for HOME and there is almost no one on it whenever I check.
Example: I'm on the west coast and on Wednesday night (around midnight) there were FOUR people on a 100,000 person server. Then about 12 hours later there were TWENTY FOUR people on the same 100,000 person server.
Plus if you want to watch a video in the on one of the screen in the main courtyard area, it is 1/4 the size of your screen and the compression on the video is HORRIBLE.
- Godlike, on 10/11/2007, -11/+4Why exactly would I play a computer game that is intended to simulate actual real life? I mean, honestly? Why? Life is boring. Let's kill a dragon or something.
- triplehelix, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5because you can't go down town and hang out with a bunch of people from around the country/world who want to play a video game with you right that moment?
- MWeather, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3It's not a game, and it doesn't simulate real life.
- profingersk8er, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17Home, as I see it, provides fun to downtime in between your games, as shown at E3, you and your friends can join a multi-player game through Home, completely skipping in-game menu straight into a game. After your online battle you can simply walk into the lobby and enjoy a minigame (such as bowling, pool, etc) while you wait for your other friends to join.
- chembro84, on 10/11/2007, -10/+1Yeah instead of skipping in game menus you go to a clunky second life type of environment where you have to find your friends to chat to do anything with them. Yeah that sounds much better than inviting your friend to play a game with you via your friends list.
- g3r4, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2So there's no messaging that isn't proximity based? Where did you hear this?
- Myonosken, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Chembro, you can do both.

- seks03, on 10/11/2007, -29/+4Same crap different console.....Sony has been a real let down lately except for their PSP2, that sounds like its gonna be good.
- acurism, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16Are you sure you are talking about Sony who not only did a price drop but showed off some spectacular games at E3(Killzone 2, MGS4,Heavenly Sword,Uncharted, Lair,UT3)?
- ers35, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12@seks03
There are so many things wrong with your post. - profingersk8er, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10I think you got Sony's conference confused with Microsoft's
- KnockoutNerd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4No, I think he confused it with the Nintendo's conference
- JagoX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Spoken like a true PC fanboy ;-p
- NeoTEKK, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Being a long-time avid fan of the Wipeout series I can't help but to be hyped. 1080p & running at 60fps?? Gotta love it.
I must add that while I first never gave Home a second thought, the more I hear about it the more I'm realizing it sure as hell beats waiting in the dashboard for friends (when you don't feel like playing xbla). Don't get me wrong I love XBL but Home is promising and definitely will bring a breath of fresh air.- xerus, on 10/11/2007, -10/+2Well if you like microtransactions you're going to love home. Buy some virtual burgers, virtual chairs, virtual tables, and virtual clothes!
- g3r4, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It could be worse. We could have to pay for our online services.
- JagoX, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1At least the 360 has an actual unified online strategy...you can't say that all for Sony.
- g3r4, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It could be worse. We could have to pay for our online services.
- truspector, on 10/11/2007, -7/+5Why would you have to wait at the dashboard for friends? You can communicate with them while gaming and watching movies.
- profingersk8er, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7play GoW or watch The Matrix for 5 minutes?
- frygar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5If Home works out the way Sony presented it at E3, I honestly don't know what motivation there would be for people to keep paying for Live. Don't get me wrong, Live is just fine and dandy, but if Home is as good as it's being shown to be, in addition to being free, MS may need to upgrade their service.
- xerus, on 10/11/2007, -10/+2Well if you like microtransactions you're going to love home. Buy some virtual burgers, virtual chairs, virtual tables, and virtual clothes!
- TheSaladMan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22I watched the conference yesterday and Echochrome is the most original looking game I've seen in ages.
- strictnein, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12No *****! At first I was watching that video and I said "What, the new game is having a guy walk on a path?" and then that next level starts and they start turning the game level around and I was just blown away.
Echochrome = Minimalism * (Lemmings + MC Escher + Portal)
Math is fun!
It looks f'ing brilliant.
Even though I am a total Xbox 360 fanboy and this E3 wasn't that exciting for the PS3, I think I'm now going to get one. There's finally some games coming up that I think will be good. $499 still seems pretty high to me, but I guess I did pay about $520 for a PS2 on ebay when it launched.
- strictnein, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12No *****! At first I was watching that video and I said "What, the new game is having a guy walk on a path?" and then that next level starts and they start turning the game level around and I was just blown away.
- logicalnoise, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18I think echochrome and little big planet were some of the best games shown in any of the confrences. both sony and MS have great arcade/online store games coming out.
- ShogunWarPig, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13+1 digg for not sounding like a complete fanboy like most of the people in the topics.
PS Agreed that echochrome looks like one of the better puzzle games to come out in a while. - Ubermunkey, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6agreed so much so that it looks like there's no option but to have both consoles.
BUT
I can't help but feel underwhelmed though with the big titles - it's all a holding pattern until they hit the store shelves. I want a compelling reason in order to get into the dogbox for buying a PS3 (see previous digg today on Female dominated relationships..). I'm no fanboy either way, but MS does look to have the dominant platform on all genres if you were buying a console NOW. PS3 has a lot of 'it's coming type' big game releases (give me Gran Turismo and Killzone please!!), for now it seems to be more the small items like Echochrome, Flow, Stardust HD that are intriguing and make me want to buy the console - I just can't imagine how much trouble I'd get in for buying it for a few arcade games! - jacksons98, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9@logicalnoise I'm happy you noticed Little Big Planet too. I just downloaded the Little Big Planet "create" video from the PSN store and it's looking awesome. It looks like it will be just as fun making your own levels as playing them. Maybe even funner.
- logicalnoise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I've admitted it always that while I find PS3 a letdown in many ways I know I'll eventually buy one for god of war 3. I mean I've been gaming for a long time and while I rag on PS3 a lot I still enjoy great games and they do make some classics. the politics get people riled up and ultimately or hopefully rather people just play games and have fun.
- ShogunWarPig, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13+1 digg for not sounding like a complete fanboy like most of the people in the topics.
- theillest1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14This is a good look for Sony
- nplace1, on 10/11/2007, -9/+3It's good to see Sony bringing the wood to PSN, but I'm still digging the kind of stuff that's heading to XBLA more. I'm going to snag Wipeout on PSP, but Sonic the Hedgehog and Marathon on my 360? Yes please.
But if Sony gets Duke Nukem 3D or One Must Fall: 2097 on PSN before Xbox gets 'em, they will have a new customer.- NiGHTSChao, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Lame, not only do I still have a working genesis with all the original Sonic games, but I have the same titles on my PC (via emulator and also offical software)
Theres no need to have a 3rd copy of an old game (unless its Fallout)- g3r4, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Speaking of which, are there any good emulators for linux? I've never thought to look before. If there are, any old games that come out on PSN are worthless. (Not related to XBLA, but I just thought I'd ask.)
- MWeather, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I just use my PS3's linux install to emulate old console games. I bought them once, I'm not buying them again.
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Lame, not only do I still have a working genesis with all the original Sonic games, but I have the same titles on my PC (via emulator and also offical software)
- RonPaulPres2008, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10I'm extremely excited about both of these games. I love Wipeout and Echochrome looks very original and fun. Can't wait to buy my PS3.
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11I too cannot wait to see Echochrome when finished, the gameplay demo looked simply amazing
- tkamen, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5This Wipeout almost looks like that "special" edition they played in the movie Hackers.
- etx313, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2I LOVE wipeout! Too bad I don't have a PS3, and probably never will. :(
- mgm280, on 10/11/2007, -10/+0SONY is full of s*h*i*t* who cares about "Wipe Out" and especially that "Home" crap. Where is "The Getaway", "Eight Days", "Golden Axe", and all the other things promised, or for that matter some titles that are worth a damn?
- UKsHaDoW, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Who cares about wipeout. Your a moron. Wipeout is very popular racer. The very first wipeout was even featured in night clubs. Mainly because of its sound track, but still.
- lsatkins, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Is it just me, or does that website look just like ign?
- Topher06, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I think its great that Sony is offering "real games" along with arcade time wasters as downloads. Even with Blu-ray, a lot of games won't need the storage capacity of a CD, let alone a DVD or Blu-Ray disk, so it makes it ideal as an installed game rather then having to swap discs to play it. They just need a way to organize games better on the PS3 then a flat list arranged in the order you installed the games, especailly if the really start ramping up the release of installable games.
- g3r4, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Pain looks like Burnout with a person instead of a car (and no dismemberment). I'm going to love that.
- KyleMistry, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Has anyone else noticed that for the Canada/US accounts, under the "Add Funds" section in Account Management, there's an option to use a PSN Card? I've never been to that section before, so that may have always been there, but hasn't Japan been the only ones with the cards so far?
Here's hoping for some PSN Cards being brought to North America. Then I wouldn't need a credit card to play Echochrome and flOw!
Oh, PSN games...how I long for thee. - dysonlu, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4PSN is getting better and better. I never thought I would care about, let alone buy, those "little" downloadable games but then I saw Super Stardust HD. It looks super cool and addictive. Heck, 10 bucks is cheap, so I bought it. I never regretted the purchase a second. In fact, I feel I got more than my money's worth.
The transaction on PSN was quick and easy and with the possibility of games sharing (purchase once, download multiple times) IT IS AWESOME.
Very happy to see that great games are coming out through this channel.- JagoX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Sure there are some good games for it (I own a PS3 btw) but it doesn't hold a candle to what XBLA has.
- WillTraveler, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Once i saw Ecochrome i immediately wanted it right then. Amazingly fun looking.
