- FatherG, on 05/08/2008, -5/+57Remember when 'not patching' was one of the perks of console gaming?
- bokep, on 05/08/2008, -9/+42PS3 X360 blablabla. Give me the PC version, Rockstar. I don't want SecureROM on it either.
- piper999, on 05/08/2008, -1/+27I think this fix is specifically for the problem you mention.
Persoanlly I'd like a patch for the ranking information being reset every time I go into multiplayer. - sonicbliss, on 05/08/2008, -2/+16How is it a 'bug' if most of the big reviews say it looks better on PS3?? I can tell your tryina wind people up but still... who the hell cares what resolution as long as it looks *better*? Or even if its at least comparable?
People get caught up with specs and figures they really dont know anything about.
Its like with cameras: "Its got like 8 Megapixel man, mines better!"
There are other factors that affect end product and quality you know. Just saying - ilukedukei, on 05/08/2008, -2/+15I don't remember that part at all
- inbashkir, on 05/08/2008, -1/+13This cleared up all the network issues where you would get an error message on your cell phone. Still run on Gamespy crap servers, but at least you can connect and enjoy the multiplayer
- JasonMaloney101, on 05/08/2008, -1/+12Way to be an ass... the first result just goes back to this page.
- inactive, on 05/08/2008, -5/+16I know I'm in the minority, but I don't think the online is anything special. I'm willing to let the targetting slide in the single player since shooting isn't everything in that mode. However, the online plays like a shooter and deserves to be compared to other full-blown shooters. GTA IV online just doesn't hold up very well against real shooters, imo.
- staticneuron, on 05/08/2008, -0/+11I am not sure if I remember correctly but wasn't halo 3 that 620 p or 636p or some odd resolution like that?
- FattyRooster, on 05/08/2008, -2/+12I must be one of the lucky ones. It fixed my loading problem, although it took a little longer, like 30 seconds or something.
- Coffeedemon, on 05/08/2008, -0/+10There's never been a GTA for PC that arrived before or at the same time as the consoles since GTA 2. They have always arrived months later (and usually poorly optimized for PC hardware) give it a few months and they will announce it.
- evanfp, on 05/08/2008, -2/+12i am a ps3 owner...newer 60gb config. i have zero freeze issues and have been playing online consistently. i get occasionally disconnected from games, and my rank is never saved between plays. i was hoping this new patch would fix these issues...it has not appeared to succeed as far as i can tell. anyone else on par with me here?
- crownedgriffin, on 05/08/2008, -0/+10w00t! *re-enables his PS3 internet connection*
- havokzero, on 05/08/2008, -8/+17Now just give 360 owners the option to install content to the HDD to decrease loading times.
- indigit4l, on 05/08/2008, -1/+10My PS3 has worked great. Yeah, online is okay... It'd be better if it had challenges, like cod4.
- lartones, on 05/08/2008, -0/+9I agree, I should be @ 3rd star by now but im stuck at about $4500 so it makes my ambition online kinda fade. It's still super fun online though!
- crashingechelon, on 05/08/2008, -0/+9I thought that would have been a good idea for them to do. Just for the heck of it so there isn't a constant stream from the disk and to speed up the loading. They could have just made it an optional install for 360 users.
- tatical, on 05/08/2008, -1/+10I have a launch-day 60GB PS3 and mines doesn't crash or freeze, before or after the patch.
- timbro1, on 05/08/2008, -1/+9is there somewhere we can download the ps3 patch online and transfer it? mine keeps timing out with some error code while its downloading
- Starflyer59, on 05/08/2008, -2/+10Once you select the game you'll get prompted to download the patch. I was signed out of the PSN at the time.
- HawkeyeMatt, on 05/08/2008, -1/+9I installed the patch this afternoon, still get the same disconnected from one or more people message. It's guaranteed to happen to me if there is more than 4 people in a room. Am I the only one? Maybe my connection just sucks...
- matt.rubin, on 05/08/2008, -7/+15is the patch xbox live?
- terminalfire, on 05/08/2008, -0/+7Only played the single player so far and never had issues getting into the game. I have a month old PS3 with an upgraded 160Gb hard drive. I do have a friend who had issues and almost deleted his save game. Still think the game is amazing, will be playing multiplayer soon
- baldgye, on 05/08/2008, -1/+7I've had no issues online with my copy, so this was just cutting 10mins out of my gaming time... one thing i wish they could fix with an update is the frame drops... that really shouldn't happen on a console
- tatical, on 05/08/2008, -1/+7I think you mean 640p
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/30/ps3-grand-theft- ... - MiDri, on 05/08/2008, -0/+6Xbox Live is very similar for some reason, race is doing pretty well but the other modes are pretty empty.
- racco, on 05/08/2008, -0/+5no issues here. but looking forward to the influx of new deathmatch players w00t!
- lcmatt, on 05/08/2008, -1/+6Did you read the article?
"that prevents Gamespy’s servers from being overloaded and therefore reduces the impact on those servers that were causing the game to stutter and lock up." - kake2k, on 05/08/2008, -0/+5no, but i remember when 'patching' was one of the perks of PC gaming.
- ethanpack, on 05/08/2008, -1/+6Wow - I must have an awefully special XBox 360, because the longest load I have is at the title screen for about 40 seconds. The between mission and cinematic load times are *maybe* 5 seconds.
Geez folks, have patience. For a game of this scale, the loading times are more than reasonable IMO. - redenvelope49, on 05/08/2008, -0/+5PS3 owner -- no freeze problems! I think Rock Star Rocks for putting out a patch so quickly!
- DarkprinceArmon, on 05/08/2008, -0/+5Baby steps man, baby steps. Not everyone has played GTA games before.
- Megatron12, on 05/08/2008, -0/+4I hope they patch the 360 version, if I'm with more than one friend only two people will make it into the game 100% of the time. I have never played online with more than one friend. It is the buggiest multiplayer I've ever played.
- lartones, on 05/08/2008, -0/+4It's fun when you play with a bunch of your friends online, then you really just burst out laughing because of someone's halarious move online.
- matt.rubin, on 05/08/2008, -0/+4dude i need some Anti Aliasing in GTAIV its most defiantly hurting my eyes every time I see that crap
- piper999, on 05/08/2008, -1/+5Read the article not just the headline.
- Raedyn, on 05/08/2008, -8/+12Now if they fix the f'in game freezes during the loading screen. I was able to get around it by disabling my internet connection, and loading the game again, so hopefully this will fix them as well.
- DarkprinceArmon, on 05/08/2008, -0/+3Good day fellow upgrader. I'm diggin you up for the success. I put a 250 gig in mine a while back, and I'm looking to get a 750 gig HDD external. I like using my PS3 as a Media Center as well. I have to say though that one night I did have problems with GTA 4 freezing on the load screen. I had though they where patching the game then.
- matt.rubin, on 05/08/2008, -1/+4remember when games were finished when the came out?
- CollapseControl, on 05/08/2008, -3/+6Nice try fanboy, no one will believe the ***** you spew.
- krakelohm, on 05/08/2008, -0/+3Why would you buy two versions of the same game? Next time think before you t y p e.
- SubKamran, on 05/08/2008, -5/+8lol ps3
- specialK16, on 05/08/2008, -0/+3"Before you start hunting for your fancy pitchfork, let us remind you that until 17 seconds ago this problem didn't bother you at all. And because of some of the processing effects, some people even insist that the PS3 version looks better to them! But hey, if you need something to get angry about, far be it from us to take that from you."
@OP: I bet you are a 360 fanboy. - theaceoffire, on 05/08/2008, -2/+5Yeah, just like the DVD in my PS2, and the CD in the PS1!
- Rhymenoceros, on 05/08/2008, -0/+3yes, the patch will updated before you start the game, but it from what the article says it only fixes online game play. Bottom line- odds are it wont freeze up, buy the game
- staticneuron, on 05/08/2008, -0/+3Same here. but to be fair I still haven't completed the single player story. At 30 hours and 54% in I am blown away by the depth of this game.
- geartype2, on 05/08/2008, -0/+3I'm quite happy I haven't been affected with my ps3 copy, GTA IV seriously has some of the funniest moments in recent online gaming history for me.
- Macuyiko, on 05/08/2008, -0/+3Yup, I was surprised about this as well. Framerate could be better.
- theaceoffire, on 05/08/2008, -0/+2I searched Goog. First dozen or so results say "No, its a psn thing".
I suggest waiting till tonight and trying again I guess. - blackhole82, on 05/08/2008, -1/+3Patch fixed my issues. Not that I couldn't play before without it.
