- sweatyyeti, on 06/05/2008, -0/+16Looks mediocre on both consoles.
- santasing, on 06/05/2008, -1/+9Are we stilll doing this crap?
- lartones, on 06/05/2008, -2/+8I have a PS3, From this comparison the PS3 is brighter but has no AA. It's wierd how some games are better looking on the PS3 (ex. DiRT) and then some games are better looking on the xbox. I find it's really just how much time each developer spends on each version of the console's game with optimization. Look how good UT3 looked compaired to pc even, there is really no excuse for this poorly developed game on the PS3. Lazy developers.
- WhereAmI, on 06/05/2008, -3/+7It is lazy developers. Instead of doing their best they decide to leave it at the "good enough" stage.
And Sony has provided their own developers too. GTA IV is an example. "These guys wore white suits and didn't make jokes" Rockstar said in PSM April. - santasing, on 06/06/2008, -1/+4Actually, unless you are a gaming God, you cannot finish any of them in less tha 10 hours.
Are you saying that GeOW and COD4 are not linear?
I think GeOW had the shortest SP out of all of these. So once again, quit trolling. - truspector, on 06/05/2008, -5/+8So are you going to work a 16 hour shift for 8 hours pay just to get a PS3 game up to par with a 360 game? I think not, you'd be a "lazy developer" too. Sony chose to make a machine that was difficult to develop for compared to the competition. They got away with it last gen because of their insanely high market share. This time around they were cocky, and it's coming back to bite them in the ass.

It doesn't matter whether you liked the gameplay or not in this conversation. You're arguing about graphics here. Those games show what the PS3 is capable of and at this point saying the PS3 doesn't cut it is just false.
You DO have a point about easier development on the 360 side but that's mostly from the year head start and the fact that its closer to PC development. These kind of inequallities are going the way of the Dodo as developers get some time with the hardware.
Seeing as you bring up R&C and Gears I'm going to point out that I prefer the way R&C looks over gears. Great textures AA are nice in gears but R&C looks great too. The difference is that R&C can pump so much crap on screen at once it really brings the scenes to life. I loved watching thousands of bolts fly around. - hydr, on 06/05/2008, -1/+2Nothing beats KickOff2 on the amiga when it comes to graphics...
- truspector, on 06/05/2008, -9/+10I'm sick of this lazy developers *****. Game developers, like the rest of us, have a limited budget, limited project time, etc. If MS has a console that is easy to develop for, a ton of libraries ready for developers to use, a larger install base, and is even willing to send their own developers to help out on a difficult project, it is up to Sony to provide the incentive for a development house to put in more man hours for a more limited return. If your boss told you to get a project out or find a new job, are you going to go home and tell your family none of you will be eating this week because of your pride?
- ohheythar, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1indeed. its time to let it rest.
- ohheythar, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1you don't buy this game for the graphics, but both were unimpressive.
- Varz, on 06/06/2008, -1/+1Actually, almost all cross platform games look better on the 360 simply because it's easier to develop for, it's all down to money.
- WhereAmI, on 06/07/2008, -1/+1Why are you comparing Uncharted and Ratchet to Gears anyway? Gears has its rival on PS3 and that is Resistance in terms of gameplay and in terms of multiplayer. The Ratchet rival on 360 is Banjo and Kazooie, which isn't out yet.
- sjbdallas, on 06/06/2008, -2/+2Am i wrong to think the brighter PS3 version looks more fake?
- santasing, on 06/05/2008, -7/+6When the XBox has a game that looks as good as Uncharted, R&C, Heavenly Sword, we will talk.
- hydr, on 06/05/2008, -6/+4Have you seen Call of Duty 4 :)
- truspector, on 06/05/2008, -8/+4@santa
I actually enjoyed Uncharted, I'm playing through R&C now, and I didn't care for heavenly sword. All three are linear games, with no multiplayer, and can be beaten in about six hours. While they did look good, none of them come close to Gears or COD4, plus I'll take lasting appeal over beautiful cut scenes any day.
