- fivex, on 06/26/2008, -2/+24Ever heard of Sony Ericsson?
- yensed, on 06/26/2008, -0/+20If using a cellphone gives me cancer anyway, I might as well be curing it in the background... I'm In!
- VandyB, on 06/26/2008, -4/+23[P]lay [S]tation [P]hone
- YuriSakazaki, on 06/26/2008, -2/+18The PSP is probably the only handheld to go up against Nintendo and NOT be a drastic failure, what are you talking about?
- CrimsonBlur, on 06/26/2008, -5/+21Before the announcement of the iPhone 3G I would have waved this off, but now I'm not so sure. Apple is really pushing the iPhone as a platform for applications and games, not just a phone. A PSP phone doesn't sound all that crazy.
- FredFredrickson, on 06/26/2008, -5/+19As if the batteries in the PSP needed to be drained faster.
- dojonz, on 06/26/2008, -6/+20Folding@anywhere.
- paintist, on 06/26/2008, -2/+15Best way to kill your battery
- capturedpenguin, on 06/26/2008, -1/+14As long as it turns out better then the N-Gage I'm sold.
- TokenBlack, on 06/26/2008, -1/+11The world wouldn't change if the iPhone were suddenly gone tomorrow, or any phone for that matter. But maybe the terrists will hate us for our freedoms less if we didn't have such pretentious crap.
- rabidg00se, on 06/26/2008, -3/+12Drastic by whose metrics? My PSP does exactly what I bought it for, and it does it well. It's a powerful multimedia device that I can use for entertainment almost anywhere. I keep games, music, and a few TV shows on the memory card (and rotate them out when I'm bored), and when I feel like it I open up the $17 IR folding keyboard I found on eBay, start up AFKIM, and chat on AIM. It's really not that hard to stretch the already solid functionality into something that's actually pretty boundless in its appeal.
Douche. - inactive, on 06/26/2008, -0/+7A living and breathing phone with a 3G network. Oh and.. it should be cheap.
- colincornaby, on 06/26/2008, -1/+7The PSP hardware is still less powerful than the iPhone hardware... The iPhone has a faster processor and better GPU.
- RyIvan, on 06/26/2008, -11/+16Yeah! Like the PS2... oh wait, most successful console to date... Oh! That nasty PSP! Oh wait, that is also selling in the millions... oh i know! You mean the failure like Blu Ray?...Thats doing well too? Woops, forgot its picking up faster then DVD ever did and is now the only viable high def format.
Idiot. - Septimus, on 06/26/2008, -2/+7Wow, you really have no clue wtf you are on about. Sony not a big player in the phone market. Hahahaha. Douche.
I suspect you think they just dabble in cameras as well sometimes. - patch6, on 06/26/2008, -1/+5Spoilt? The PSP's selling like hotcakes, upwards of 36 million since June 21st of this year, according to that site.
- revisedTORIN, on 06/26/2008, -2/+5PSP phone, iPhone, Android, looks like the actual phone companies have no idea what there doing and are being destroyed by a computer manufacturer, a gaming company and even a search engine
- Divals, on 06/26/2008, -2/+5I know, Crisis Core, Final Fantasy Tactics, Riviera, and all those other games are pure trash. TRASH!
[/sarcasm] - nshady, on 06/26/2008, -4/+7You've got Skype, what more do you want?!
- jerkfaceirl, on 06/26/2008, -2/+5Nothing says cool like 4 popped collars and a psphone.
- Cyrus042, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2The XMB is a solid interface. I don't understand. I have a SE w580i and it's pretty decent as far as interface goes. What in particular is your complaint?
- Rippleeffect, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Holding a taco to your ear?
- paulsmith288, on 06/26/2008, -2/+4with all the new phones going for touch screens - i wonder if sony will do the same.
I couldn't game on anything that doesn't have solid tactile feedback. (well apart from strategy only games). - colincornaby, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2According to Wikipedia, the PSP only has one CPU. The PSP also only has 2 megs of VRAM, which is positively anemic compared to the iPhone's 16.
The PSP's CPU runs by default at 233 mhz, peaks at 333 mhz. The iPhones CPU runs at 400 mhz. - unknownohm, on 06/26/2008, -6/+8I would rather here the ringtone be "Sega"
- cornerbodega, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2why is he holding a psp to his ear like a tard?
- Cyrus042, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3The only issue is battery life really. With an unlimited data package this would be awesome. Especially considering the fact that one can stream from their PS3 if they have some type of connection. The ergonomics can be sorted out to take the existing design of the PSP and make it acceptable for a phone. Or Bluetooth compatibility but that would only worsen the battery life.
Assuming the connection would be fast enough, and as 3G improves, it would be theoretically possible for a PSP Phone to stream any music or video, and some games (those that are already compatible) from the PS3 and PC (PC -> PS3 -> PSP Phone) anywhere in the world. - Hutson, on 06/26/2008, -4/+6It will be called the Codec. SNAAAAAAAKE!
- inactive, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2If it's Sony Ericsson then I'll probably be sold, I've always liked their phones and haven't had any problems with them. Then again, the HTC Touch Pro hits North America later this year too...
- chazuk, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3What on earth does a PSP phone have to do with sexuality?
- Divals, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2If you're arguing that ports and spinoffs are bad, then there should have only ever been ONE Super Mario Brothers, for instance. No Super Mario 3, no Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World... the list goes on. Yes, new games are good, but sequels and ports are not necessarily bad.
And personally I'd rather play FFT and Riviera on the PSP than on the Game Boy Advance or, in the case of FFT, the Playstation. Better graphics, more features, sometimes added storylines/items/functionality... these things do make a difference. - rednaxela825, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1I wanted to bury this just because of the picture of that guy holding a PSP to his ear.
- Foamator, on 06/26/2008, -2/+3It better be open if they wanna sell any.
With homebrew seemingly the only thing driving PSP sales, and Apple opening up the iPhone, the PS Phone would have to be open too.
That'd be pretty sweet though. - YuriSakazaki, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1The Game Gear gave it competition but didn't put a dent in it. I still have the box my Game Gear came in, I wouldn't say I'm too young to remember it :3
- inactive, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1"why don't you put together a gadget that can do a lot of things okay, but nothing really well? Oh wait, that was the PSP."
PSP did everything quite well, ***** - inactive, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1Who on earth would buy this?
- chokeaduck, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1No, it used proprietary UMDs for media... um? The music player wasn't amazing, and the games speak for themselves. It did a half-assed job with everything instead of really focusing on one thing.
- awtripp, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1A lot of people.
- inactive, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1"sony sucks at interface's "
Funny, they've won awards for the XMB - chazuk, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2Sidetalkin' was cool man!
Actually I HATED using my N-Gage as a phone..... - Twee, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1AND the iPhone's processor is underclocked. It's actually a 600 mhz ARM underclocked to 400 mhz..
- jellygraph, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1But being outsold by the DS by far. I would say that shows that the PlayStation brand no longer commands a dominating position in the industry
- BrendanSheehan, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2You won't be folding @ Home, cause Home is still beta! :P
- Elranzer, on 06/26/2008, -3/+4Cheap? Sony? Multi-purpose cellphone?
Don't hold your breath. Expect it to around $400. - matt.rubin, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1sidetalkin!
http://www.sidetalkin.com/page-1.html - supermanred, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1Will it look like a George Forman grill too? Fail.
- RyIvan, on 06/26/2008, -5/+6but i allready have skype on mine :D
- ibeetle, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2So..... it is perfectly O.K. for Microsoft to come up with their own music format... again.... and again.... and again.... and again.
And it is O.K. for Apple, but...
Heaven forbid anybody else.
Especially the number 3 digital music player (in cell phones) maker. -
