- krische, on 02/15/2008, -23/+102And with the Blu-ray announcements this month, I'd imagine February's numbers are going to be even higher.
- icegoddess13, on 02/15/2008, -13/+91This is just the sales report for the systems for the month of January, nothing else. I'm so sick of this console war *****. We own a 360, PS3, DS, and a PSP so we can have a variety of stuff to play. Don't have a Wii yet simply because of their lack of availability. Each system has their good qualities and their bad ones. People just need to get the ***** over it already and move on.
- screwzluse, on 02/15/2008, -18/+86To be fair, there is still a Wii shortage in many areas. Not trying to diminish the PS3's accomplishment this month, very impressive. Just saying.
- DuxBelorum, on 02/15/2008, -18/+82Grats Sony.
To be honest though, I still prefer my 360. I just enjoy the games more than those that are out for the PS3. Just my opinion though. - santasing, on 02/15/2008, -28/+84I really don't care for the Wii. I am sure lots of people like it, but as far as I am concerned, it could be sitting on the shelves among fisher price toys. The games on the Wii are just plain bad, except for maybe 4.
- truespector, on 02/15/2008, -15/+64uh oh, don't tell truspector about his Xbox 3rd60!
- bethlagarrison, on 02/15/2008, -10/+45MGS4 won't move anywhere near a million units. Blu-ray winning the format war will move millions of units.
- HouseofEl, on 02/15/2008, -15/+47Buried simply because this will be nothing more than a fanboy pissing match in here.
- krische, on 02/15/2008, -9/+40Actually, if you look at metacritic. The PS3 has 16 games rated greater than or equal to 85. The Wii only has 7. So what were you saying?
- shinythingy, on 02/15/2008, -4/+34Great. You come in here and make a valid point that no one should argue with. You don't say it like a rabid fanboy and importantly you say 'my opinion'. Then ***** CollapseControl comes and literally destroys it for you. This isn't an attack at you, im praising you for not acting like a fanboy this is more an attack on collapse.
- Sonics020, on 02/15/2008, -5/+35How is this misleading the Playstation outsold the 360 this month in January's NDP data this is not misleading this actually happened. No one is talking about total lifetime sales in this article. The implied message is talking of Playstation 3's momentum and how now Playstation 3 outsells the 360 on all territories in the world
- purag66, on 05/13/2009, -30/+60Isn't the 360 having supply problems in its biggest market (North America)?
http://xbox360.thegamereviews.com/story-604-Sales- ... - krische, on 02/15/2008, -4/+33Are you kidding me? The PS3 is only a year into its lifetime and you are already saying its failed? If you look at the sales, it looks like it is just getting started. If you look at vgchartz.com ( I know vgchartz isn't that accurate, but close enough) the ps3 has been outselling the 360 worldwide since christmas. And overall, it is selling faster in its first year than the 360 did.
- skippyisforyou, on 02/15/2008, -18/+451 month...WOOOOWWWWWW
what about the other year it's been out? - otakushark, on 02/15/2008, -3/+29Given the 16% failure rate, the chances are better than 1 in 6 that his box is in the shop.
- mywhitenoise, on 02/15/2008, -5/+29Here you go, fag http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/PS3_outsells_Xbox3 ...
Now shut your mouth already because everything you say is inaccurate and retarded beyond belief. You lower my IQ every time I read one of your posts. - WhereAmI, on 02/15/2008, -0/+23It hasn't even been out for a year yet in Europe and analysis's are saying it will pass the 360 soon.
- Starflyer59, on 02/15/2008, -2/+24Microsoft had a chance to take a piece of the market and they pushed out junk hardware that fails far too often. They've lost any momentum they had with their head start and will continue to let their lead slip from here on out.
- krische, on 02/15/2008, -2/+24Actually, its been outselling in everything but the USA for quite some time. Now this month it finally outsold in the US. Which means now for January, it is the entire world.
- nightmare1228, on 02/15/2008, -13/+34You want to know why there are purchasing it? It is a cheap blu-ray player and they consumer gets lots of extras as well. With blu-ray taking off, I'm sure the sells number for the ps3 is just going to keep increasing. I mean I would rather buy a ps3 and get a game console and a nice blu-ray player, than buy just a stand alone player for the same price.
- darkjedi26, on 02/15/2008, -3/+24Who the ***** doesn't already have a dvd player?
- krische, on 02/15/2008, -7/+28Yes, but you have to realize this is the NPD numbers. Which means American only. Which means the 360's number 1 market just went to the PS3 for that month. The PS3 is already outselling the 360 everywhere else in the world, and now America too.
- KrustyTClown, on 02/15/2008, -18/+38Where is KINGGOONIE? Goonie said this would never happen.
- getatmedigg, on 02/15/2008, -8/+23Long live DVD!
- otakushark, on 02/15/2008, -16/+31PS3 has been beating the 360 in the units-from-launch-date numbers as well.
http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php - ausfahrt, on 02/15/2008, -1/+15truespector vs truspector
- WhereAmI, on 02/15/2008, -4/+18HI KINGGOONIE.
What a surprise you're here with your "facts" - BlueSkyfish, on 02/15/2008, -8/+22I don't know why you're being dugg down. It's a valid point.
- thebuggalo, on 02/15/2008, -2/+16who cares?! I will play the one I find more enjoyable. Who cares what other people like? Just buy the one you like.
- BuckleButt, on 02/15/2008, -21/+34And so it begins...
- diadem2, on 02/15/2008, -7/+20how many total units are out there? if most gamers already have a 360 and need a blueray machine, they are likely to buy a ps3 anyhow..... not a second 360
- WhereAmI, on 02/15/2008, -3/+15Halo 3 has real men? Sound like middle schoolers to me. Oh, nice going mentioning 2 games I already have on the PC and one that will be out in May on the PC.
- kenyan, on 02/15/2008, -2/+14Be honest... did you buy a Wii thinking it could play DVD's?
- hesloppy, on 02/15/2008, -3/+15yes! i can believe that!
- WhereAmI, on 02/15/2008, -1/+13I don't know where you are getting your stats from but here:
http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2008/02 ...
This is an article that didn't make it to the front page for obvious reasons from Ars Technica. They are pretty on the ball, mostly with stories about new things to come. Like the 40GB PS3. - FredFredrickson, on 02/15/2008, -0/+11MGS doesn't have THAT big of a following...
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -1/+12Is that like Mad's Spy vs. Spy but without the funny?
- mywhitenoise, on 02/15/2008, -3/+14I have a few facts. KingGoonie is a thirty year old bald man who wears eyeliner and has an obsession with Buffy The Vampire Slayer and has never had sex with a real life person as a result.
- petebot, on 02/15/2008, -2/+13I still don't understand why anyone cares how many units the systems sell. None of these three platforms are going to die any time soon, which is great. Full disclosure: I have a 360. I will have a 360 if PS sells 100 or 100,000 next week. I don't care if MS sells another 360 ever. I've got mine, and games will come out for it. I mean really, what's the big deal?
- Varz, on 02/15/2008, -1/+12I have to agree. It's aimed at the masses so all you really get are ***** gimmicky games, the reason I sold mine after buying one at launch and eventually losing hope. The only decent games (excluding 1 or 2) are Nintendo's, they include Zelda #56, Mario #85 and Metroid #23.
- slicecom, on 02/15/2008, -6/+17Exactly. The PS3 is on track to outsell the 360 in every market outside of America, and probably eventually in America as well.
- krische, on 02/15/2008, -9/+20No, you just think there are no games out cause you are ignorant.
- BlueSkyfish, on 02/15/2008, -2/+12It's sold out on Amazon (so is Wii, but that goes without saying)
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/104-0263489-2 ...
Plenty of PS3s sitting on the shelves, though. - WhereAmI, on 02/15/2008, -5/+15I doubt that. MGS is a great series but doubling a number this huge is near impossible unless they cut the price by half.
- jlgosse, on 02/15/2008, -8/+17XBOX has also been selling for 12 months previous
- moxillaq, on 02/15/2008, -5/+14Ugh! Neither does my N64!
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -0/+9The shape of my hands hasn't changed since the PS1 came out.
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -5/+14You mean Final Fantasy 13.
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 02/15/2008, -7/+15I've had more fun with the 360 so far, but I just got a PS3 a month ago and I like it better to be honest. Much much much more quiet, more thorough and less dumbed down system tools, HDMI from the start, six axis (gimmicky, but pretty neat), wireless internet that connects to my router 10 times easier than my PC/laptop. Not as much trouble playing old PS2 games as old Xbox games, at least for me.
And my HD-DVD add on, FK me I'm an idiot. - TBoneFever, on 02/15/2008, -3/+11Yea, I'm a huge nintendo fanboy ...BUT, I hate to say this but I haven't played with my Wii for months now (no, it's not a personal problem). My 360 is the only thing I have been using these days (Mmmm, Devil May Cry 4). I'm definitely going to buy a PS3 when I'm in the need of a br player.
There aren't any Wii games coming out that I'm excited about [anymore]. What a waste... What the ***** happened to all those 1st party titles they were showing off a year ago? And 3rd party support has been a joke. "YES! A new mini-game collection!" -
