- KirbyMeister, on 12/12/2007, -2/+111Battery life.
Also at 333mhz you can't use the wifi chip. - FredFredrickson, on 12/12/2007, -23/+91So now the batteries will only last for about an hour while playing games?
- Hickeroar, on 12/12/2007, -12/+68Why in the world did sony lock down the speed in the first place?
- bdorry, on 12/12/2007, -4/+44Could be wrong but I believe it was for battery life
- LordSeth, on 12/12/2007, -4/+42I cant wait for this game.
- dsmx, on 12/12/2007, -4/+41The trolls are out in force today.
- ausfahrt, on 12/12/2007, -2/+30They have a bigger battery now too.
- gojcaj, on 12/12/2007, -4/+28Love to see stuff like this come out. Even DS fanboys have to admit that's impressive.
- bunker6, on 12/12/2007, -1/+23Lighting, refresh rates of distant background objects and some of the particle effects (smoke from impacts) seemed much better. I'm sure some of this contributes to additional development time in addition to the increased power.
It will be an awesome game for sure. GoW never fails to deliver. - geekzapoppin, on 12/12/2007, -2/+22It does look very nice. I've been fairly meh about the PSP up until this year, mainly because I enjoy my DS so much. After actually getting my hands on one, though, I find that I really would like to own one. There's no reason why both machines can't succeed, seeing as how the types of games that excel on each platform are so different. Maybe I shouldn't have written off the PSP so easily.
- Ubergoober3, on 12/12/2007, -17/+36That looks almost as good as God of War II. The PSP still has a lot of potential, just like the PS3.
- Hickeroar, on 12/12/2007, -4/+22Ah, thx.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 12/12/2007, -4/+19Guess I will have to update from 3.40 OE-A once this game is finally out.
- inactive, on 12/12/2007, -4/+18Buried for being a Nintendo troll AND an Apple troll in the same post - how I wish I could bury you twice!
- chugger1992, on 12/12/2007, -1/+14Why are the graphics on the PSP almost as good as the Wii? *slaps Wii devs*
- 1randomnumber, on 12/12/2007, -0/+13Also, at 333 MHz (which you can force with hacked firmware), the back of the PSP gets kind of disturbingly warm. Not enough to hurt, but to make you wonder "should it really be that hot?"
And you can still use the wifi chip at 333, as far as I've found. - ShrimpCrackers, on 12/12/2007, -2/+14At least we're not hearing the usual bull about how there are DS games that "look just as good". (Seriously, there isn't, but you'll always find an army of people claiming the PSP's graphics are merely "on par" with the DS).
PS: I love both, and frankly, both are great handhelds in my opinion. I'm one of those guys that carry both because I love them equally as much. The PSP gets a lot more flak than it deserves. Its honestly a great handheld. - loganhid, on 12/12/2007, -2/+13your psp is broke
- i64X, on 12/12/2007, -11/+22This game will sell me a PSP. The first two GoW games are amazing - anyone who hasn't played them - you need to. The first one can be had for $19 new, or less used.
- volacide, on 12/12/2007, -1/+12I wouldn't think so, I have a homebrew psp and I set the CPU at 333mhz when in UMD/Game mode and the battery doesn't noticeably drain much faster.
- charlescheese, on 12/12/2007, -3/+13Go play Uncharted, Ratchet, or UT3. Enough said.
- darkstar949, on 12/12/2007, -2/+12I highly doubt that God of War has bloated code in it - graphics operations are inherently computationally intensive and the more vertices's you are displaying, or are trying to display, the more operations you have to preform. Odds are when they say optimizing they were really talking about implementing algorithms to reduce the number of vertices's prior to preforming operations on (ex. high polygons in the foreground, low in the background) which tend to be extremely complicated and a pain in the neck to debug if you don't get them right.
Same applies to pretty much every other high-budget game out there - if the people know what they are doing they aren't writing bloated code, they are trying to squeeze more vertices's out of their algorithms. - kylejn, on 12/13/2007, -0/+9You're thinking about it in the wrong way. Rather than thinking of it as a 111MHz increase, think of it as a 50% increase. To modify your computer processor analogy, it would be like the difference between a 2GHz and a 3GHz processor.
- smackhero, on 12/12/2007, -0/+9what video were you watching? how is adding shadows, better blood effects, friendly AI, and better dynamic lighting "not optimizing" their "bloated code?" if their code was bloated or inefficient, i don't think they'd be able to push the system as far as they've done in this game.
it looks more like they were already pushing the envelope on what the PSP could put out graphically, and were able to extend it even further with the increase in processor speed. this game looks incredible for a handheld. - roxya, on 12/12/2007, -1/+9You might have had a point if it wasn't being made by Ready at Dawn. Those guys are awesome and already the best looking PSP game around (Daxter).
- JayD16, on 12/12/2007, -0/+8Go m33...
- Dakk, on 12/12/2007, -2/+10Do you really want more things distracting you as you view a site?
- Snakedal337, on 12/12/2007, -4/+12The new PSP Does NOT have a bigger battery in it, and infact it's smaller. However if you put a phat PSP batteries into the newer one you will get more life out of it. But a Slim PSP's Stock battery is both smaller and dies faster than the phats. Just wanted to clear that up.
kotaku.com/gaming/baby-got-back/psp-slim-battery-life-confusion-280487.php - amgamer23, on 12/12/2007, -0/+8I'll get the second one for you
- kylejn, on 12/13/2007, -0/+7I might even say better. Certainly God of War for the PSP looks better than about 80% of the Wii titles out there, don't you think?
- Korexz, on 12/12/2007, -3/+10So how does this affect online games? I am assuming you simply cannot play online and use the upper end of the CPU at the same time?
- gjmcnamee, on 12/12/2007, -3/+10I personally like the psp better then the ipod touch. As a portable gaming device, it is far superior.I can change the battery with ease, and the screen is larger. On top of all that the price is fantastic! I'm an apple fanboy! :)
- crazymunch, on 12/12/2007, -0/+7This was a concern when the PSP was first released, since then homebrew coders have worked around this, so I'm sure Professional developers will have found a workaround as well. Again, this was originally implemented to save battery
- Hickeroar, on 12/12/2007, -1/+7not DEAD, just bogged...
- solidus636, on 12/13/2007, -0/+6Or, you could just play games off your memory sticks...
- TangentThought, on 12/12/2007, -0/+6"like how about a simple drag and drop MP4 to PSP tool that I don't have to pay 45 bucks for"
There are a handful of PSP video conversion software out there that does that for free. - geartype2, on 12/12/2007, -1/+7ditto, sad that you didn't get yours, the game is outrageous. Truly truly outrageous.
- KMartSheriff, on 12/12/2007, -1/+7Anyone have a YouTube link?
- diggdowner, on 12/12/2007, -0/+5Uh, XviD4PSP is free.
- scxzor, on 12/12/2007, -0/+5Uh... what are you paying $45 exactly?
- KbuPlatinum, on 12/13/2007, -0/+5Don't bring your logic and reason around here anymore
- HOOKSTER1231, on 12/12/2007, -0/+4Try watching with your eyes open next time.
- huckdunsany, on 12/12/2007, -0/+4I got mine a few weeks ago, but I haven't had time to play it yet. It did come with a cool pendant, which was a nice touch.
- Managua8Green, on 12/13/2007, -0/+4Really, I mean, there are somethings you should keep inside your head
- accessviolation, on 12/13/2007, -0/+4What the ***** does that even mean? Get a job.
- KraziLogicz, on 12/13/2007, -0/+4you're an idiot.
- aywwts4, on 12/12/2007, -1/+4Try this, it really makes the whole process painless.

- Nobi-Wan, on 12/12/2007, -0/+3I received it at the end of October. It's amazing for a demo. The company that's making this version seriously got the GoW style perfectly.
- Nobi-Wan, on 12/12/2007, -2/+4Yeah I got the demo in the mail a few weeks ago and the game is truly amazing. It's like they were able to squeeze all the amazing graphics and gameplay from the two previous games into a small handheld.
