- Akaziel, on 05/31/2009, -3/+32Heh to be perfectly honest, I LOVE my PSP. But it's hacked, and I load it up with old favorite SNES, Genesis (and SegaCD), NES, and PS1 games more than anything. If I was stuck with an unhacked PSP and only the library of games available right now? Screw that. The system is *****. I mean there are SOME good games for it, don't get me wrong. But not worth the price of the handheld itself. And yeah, UMDs universally suck ass. And yeah holding the system for too long gets uncomfortable after a while, but I also have giant hands.
- svodka, on 05/30/2009, -1/+24"I'm not really sure who is sitting in Sony's corporate office feeding them these bad ideas. That being said, if the price is right, I'll still prolly pick one of these up."
You are the reason these "bad ideas" happen. If you don't like the idea, don't support it. - vsujohn2, on 05/31/2009, -3/+26Looks ugly as sin
- ChaoticInfinity, on 05/30/2009, -3/+26I'm guessing they plan to digitally re-release the more popular games from their back catalog since the Go's all digital. Little incentive for existing PSP users who already have a PSP library of their favorite games. I think I'll pass.
- richardsim7, on 06/01/2009, -0/+21Crap quality, here's an HD link :)

-Rich- - Blajano, on 05/31/2009, -1/+22Dugg for veronica b.
- JayD16, on 05/30/2009, -6/+23That's because its still a PSP1 console.
- NyteStarNyne, on 06/01/2009, -0/+14You can keep the PSP Go. I'll have a Veronica Belmont to go.
- JonnyIsElectric, on 06/01/2009, -0/+13thanks for that
-Jonny- - sageerrant, on 05/31/2009, -2/+14Because it's still a PSP, and it still plays PSP games, jackass.
Have fun with your iPhone games.
No, really. I've heard the iPhone has some pretty good games, and it would suck to switch only to be disappointed. Buyer's remorse can be pretty bad. - inactive, on 06/01/2009, -1/+12Well difference with the DSi being that you can still actually use your DS games on it. This would be like buying a DSi then having to buy all of your games over again for download.
DSi is just missing the GBA slot. Granted, there's still little incentive to upgrade to a DSi (if you can even call it an upgrade), but this is a step backwards for anybody with a PSP. - LostOverThere, on 05/31/2009, -2/+12Well, its a similar update as to the DSi. People who already owned a DS really don't have any reason to update, but to people without one it will be a bigger incentive. Same here.
Also, I really like the idea of digital download - punkcat, on 06/01/2009, -0/+9no more used games for you!
my prediction, digital downloads will remain same price as regular games despite no packaging. - Radek3887, on 05/31/2009, -1/+10Sony is trying to pull a Nintendo by basically remodeling the same product that has been on the shelves in order to make more money out of a minimal investment.
- matt247, on 05/31/2009, -4/+12Looks like a Mylo 2
http://gizmodo.com/5273258/so-the-psp-go-is-basica ... - tidu, on 06/01/2009, -0/+6She's the only reason I lasted so far into the video
...don't take that the wrong way. - tidu, on 06/01/2009, -0/+6So will older PSP users have to pay for their games again?
- themastersb, on 05/31/2009, -0/+6My library of games is completely digital. However they needs custom firmware to run, so once homebrew gets on this system it'll be a huge incentive for me to buy.
- joecolly, on 06/01/2009, -1/+6Sony always do this, don't they? (PSOne, PSTwo, possible PS3 slim?)
- NeoTechni, on 06/01/2009, -0/+5It also won't work with PSPs existing memory sticks. It uses a smaller more expensive kind.
It won't work with PSPs cables (remote, headset, video out, AC adapter) cause the remote and AC adapter ports are gone
It won't work as a USB hard drive like PSP did, the USB port is gone. Which means it also won't work with devices like the GPS, talkman mic, or Chotto Cam
The screen is smaller
And they added territorial lockout - LostOverThere, on 06/01/2009, -1/+6Meh, it works doesn't it?
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -1/+6Wake me up when the iPhone has better games than the PSP.
- Greengoo, on 06/01/2009, -1/+6Cool!
-Nate- - ShingoEX, on 06/01/2009, -0/+5No. In this case, it would be like releasing the PS2 slim and not have it play any of your PS2 DVD games.
- NeoTechni, on 06/01/2009, -0/+4"I played them all."
Liar. You did not play all of PSP's 1000+ games. You didn't even play 10 of them - jbarket, on 05/31/2009, -2/+6On the money.
I have to admit that the game library does continue to get better all the time... especially compared to everything right after launch... but it's still like wading through a pile of ***** to find one nugget of gold.
If not for the ability to use it to play emulators and such, I'd probably put the thing down the disposal.
One thing that I think would really improve it, if not just from a hacked perspective, would be updated the TV out... so I hope they do that on this model. If it could make reasonable use of screen real estate on my TV, even if it means only displaying at 480p, that would be fantastic. - bigbadgoat, on 06/01/2009, -0/+4You'd have to be pretty ignorant of the PSP's game catalog to think there aren't any good games for it. There are dozens of great games for it!
- daschupa, on 06/01/2009, -0/+4I was going to say it looks like an uncomfortable piece of crap, but I think you said it best.
- Necrid, on 06/01/2009, -0/+4yes, get skype :P
- uberbucket1, on 06/01/2009, -4/+8I like the psp more than the ds, because I honestly think it has more games I want to play. I don't really like rpg's (although pokemon wasn't bad. Don't lie, you liked it too.) And a lot of games had broken controls because the stylus, doesn't work that well for fps (see. metroid prime hunters). The PSP on the other hand is acceptable, and lets me use a wpa encrypted network.
The GBA still kicks ass though. - defenswens26, on 06/01/2009, -0/+4I also read that this will be sold along side the PSP-3000 and not as a replacement for it. So they'll probably re-release some popular titles but I can't see them doing too many.
- astronautje, on 06/01/2009, -1/+5VERONICA BELMONT!!!!!!!
- IcedKasz, on 06/01/2009, -0/+3If PSPgo prices were 1/2 the cost, I'd jump right onto that bandwagon.
- sugarhigh4242, on 06/01/2009, -0/+3It looks a lot better sitting on the table there than it does in the press shots. I'm still skeptical about the nub placement though.
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -0/+3"Tiger woods and sim city are better on iphone."
Wow, that settles it folks. iPhone has trounced the PSP in game quality! - lynx44, on 06/01/2009, -0/+3I don't think you remember how expensive flash memory was back when the PSP first launched. I remember the largest memory stick available at the time was 1 GB and was going for much more than $100. It simply wasn't feasible at the time, they could never recover the cost unless they charged a ridiculous amount of money for each game. UMDs were cheaper, and they were meant to store PSP games, just as a Gameboy cartridge is meant to store Gameboy games. Do you think that every other proprietary format was a failure simply because it didn't branch out to other media types?
- rolosworld, on 06/01/2009, -2/+5more important, sony still didn't fix the digital pad. Looks like only up,down, left, right movements are OK. But the plastic barrier between them, and the fact that the dpad is slim, will still be imposible to make down-right,up-right,down-left...etc movements. The PS dpads work great.. they should use the same dpad. In short, no dpad for street fighter.
- NeoTechni, on 06/01/2009, -0/+3"Wake me up when the PSP has any games at all"
Wake up. PSP launched with a record amount of games. The day it came out, it had more games than DS had accumulated in the months between their release. PSP still had more games than DS for a couple years (till it got horribly overtaken) but PSP still has over a thousand games. - franklymister, on 06/01/2009, -1/+4How is that any better?
- rolosworld, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/45850000/jpg ...
This pic shows what im talking about. If he was going to make a hadoken, down, down+right, right. It would be difficult for him, since (s)he has small fingers and would not be able to reach from down to right without the plastic interfering, and this dpad is not the same as the PS dpads your blind, compare below!
http://cdn1.gamepro.com/article_img/gamepro/121888 ...
http://iklanmas.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/psp_em ...
and check the ridiculous fix of what I'm talking about:
http://nesp.tighelory.com/images/2006-04-03/dpad.j ... - inactive, on 06/01/2009, -1/+3Then don't complain about Sony churning out bad ideas if you're going to go out and buy this "bad idea"
- Clark, on 06/01/2009, -2/+4Whoa whoa, you're saying the stylus control in MPH is bad? Did you actually play the game? It's much dual analogue, well, actually, more like a Wii FPS (maybe more precise though).
And you're saying this is better than the one nipple the PSP provides you? - NeoTechni, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2Unergonomic as hell!
- rolosworld, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2You probably don't play fighting games. Try any fighting game on the PSP, street fighter alpha for example, and try to do a shoryuken and try the same on your PS3. You'll notice the plastic between the directional buttons interfere with the motion. In the PS dpad version this doesn't happen because the directional buttons are higher, so for example.. when down is pressed you can press right and you don't touch the plastic between them. But in the PSP, you touch down->the plastic->right, so theres a jump from down to right, no down+right.
- NeoTechni, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2"UMD's do suck ass, but because sony is a format whore we are stuck with what is now a useless, very non-universal, dead format. "
UMDs don't suck at all. We're not even stuck with it. It's no where near dead. And it is universal in the way they claimed it was, in that it can hold any media type not just games.
"A dual layer UMD is 1.8gb, my flash drive that costed 10$ is 8gb..."
And your flash drive isnt small enough ot fit in a PSP, and I don't want a system limited to 4 or 5 games.
"Over time it would have been cheaper and easier to just go with flash memory from the begining"
No it wouldn't. Flash is exponentially more expensive than optical. - Morac, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2It's a leak because it wasn't suppose to be released until after E3. The PSP Go was supposed to be Sony's big announcement at E3.
- ofenza, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2Seems that May/June is the season of all leaks and unboxing videos. Everyone is trying really hard to steal some spotlight from Apple's WWDC.
