As you can see, in the same time frame the PS3 did reach 7Mil faster.
But when the 360 came out it was hard to get for months, due to short supply, yes the PS3 had short supply, but that lasted a few weeks.
Also when the 360 came out, there was so much hype on the PS3 that people waited for the other systems to come to the market before they decided on what to buy. - krische, on 12/14/2007, -13/+111Yes, but the PS3 also had the LARGEST negative hype around it that mankind has ever seen. To sell more than the 360 with such a large general hate towards it is really nothing short of a miracle.
- truespector, on 12/14/2007, -7/+80I hope he does, I mean he's the only reason I created this account. Just to prove his idiotic comments wrong again and again.
- krische, on 12/14/2007, -20/+83Great news. The last couple of months have seen a large positive change for the PS3. And with the way 2008 is looking, the PS3 is going to shape up to be a good console.
- Xerces, on 12/14/2007, -16/+69warhawk is one of the most underated games on the system
- Edrick, on 12/14/2007, -17/+66I bought a 360 to play games. Maybe I'm just weird though.
- inactive, on 12/14/2007, -6/+54SHHHH!! Don't say his name! They say he appears out of nowhere, from the intertubes, trolls, and then disappears again!
- truespector, on 12/14/2007, -2/+46I called, I want my idea back.
- jeremy1967, on 12/14/2007, -6/+49Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be along shortly. I'll bet he's been racking his brain all day on this trying to figure out what to say.
- inactive, on 12/14/2007, -12/+50Let me take you back twelve months to when the Sony HateFest was in full swing:
http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/PS3_future_going_t ...
So many people then were bashing Sony back then it was insane. Now all of a sudden things "are looking up" for the PS3. It was a great system then with a rocky start, and it is a great system now. This only solidifies my opinion that most Diggers are a just bunch of fickle whores. - shinythingy, on 12/14/2007, -11/+49Your ***** awesome. BEST. ACCOUNT. EVER
- krische, on 12/14/2007, -6/+44"I'll just wait for the superior 360 version."
~Truspector - Synthesize, on 12/14/2007, -16/+52I'm sure as we get closer to the release date of MGS4, sales of the PS3 will sky rocket.
- AntBing, on 12/14/2007, -10/+43When the 360 came out...IT WAS THE ONLY ONE OUT! Competition is a bitch.
- shinythingy, on 12/14/2007, -3/+35What hate? Were you frozen an have only been unfrozen this week?
- MattnJax, on 12/14/2007, -11/+41COD4 has a huge online community.
If you have a PS3, and don't have it hooked up to the internet, then you are missing out on so much. PSN store has a lot to offer. Free demo downloads (which I love cause I can play a game to see if I like it before paying $60) downloadable games (Warhawk, Pain) and the upcoming "Home". - SkippyDoorknob, on 12/14/2007, -3/+32That's only if you say it three times while looking into a mirror!
- kelowna4life, on 12/14/2007, -13/+40I was initially pretty against the PS3 with its price and lack of games etc. However since the drop and the competitiveness in terms of price with the 360, its really looking quite attractive. Look at the killer games coming out for it, aswell as the fact most developers will start to get more and more comfortable with it, i think PS3 will be the way to go. I know personally i want one alot more than a 360 right now. although Wii is still pwn'in it.
- spoiled1, on 12/14/2007, -3/+29Dude, I'm speechless ... :~)
- asskey, on 12/14/2007, -4/+29There is no such thing as bad publicity. Except for Red Rings of Death. That's pretty bad publicity.
- inactive, on 12/14/2007, -3/+25More reliable than what? The 360? Your wish is my command.
- charlescheese, on 12/14/2007, -10/+32Yeah but Sony is doing better than MSoft in Europe, and we tend to have the same tastes in video games. The PS3 is also doing well enough here in the states that developers will at the very least want their games on both systems, even in the short term. The PS3 is in good shape at the point. Sony did a lot of things over the past five months to right the PS3 ship, and with their incredibly strong exclusives next year they should be in much better shape next year.
- truespector, on 12/14/2007, -1/+22Wait, I don't get it. Are you trying to mock truspector? Or are you trying to mock the mocker of truspector? Either way you are presenting yourself all wrong. I'm not mad. Just disappointed. Just next time, take a deep breath and try to write complete sentences and words. Thanks!
- krische, on 12/14/2007, -3/+23Haha, calm down dude. I'm not a 360 fanboy. Don't even own one, have had a PS3 since launch and have enjoyed it since. I'm just saying that it was surprising for it to sell so well considering the amount of negative, athough mostly false, hype it had around it. I'm glad it has though, goes to show that there actually are intelligent people that can see through the BS that the 360 fanboys have spewed out over the year.
- Edrick, on 12/14/2007, -4/+23Well, it hasn't broken since I got it, so I guess I can't answer your question.
- FoxOrian, on 12/14/2007, -4/+21Alot of people, actually. I play Warhawk fairly regularly and there are always hundreds and hundreds of joinable games, most with near full 18, 24, and 32 capacities. I've never had a problem getting into a match, or have ever had too little people.
- lydecker, on 12/14/2007, -1/+17Dang it, i dugg up his comment before I got to the part about him calling the XBox 360 a piece of crap. Leave fanboyism at the door!
- inactive, on 12/14/2007, -7/+23I do! This means my investment in a PS3 is worthwhile. If PS3 is selling at faster rates than the 360, ultimately the PS3 will have a large installed user base and be worthwhile to develop for. (That means more games).
- h4mx0r, on 12/14/2007, -2/+17MGS4 is still exclusive...
- TheTaoOfBill, on 12/14/2007, -7/+20I haven't heard too many people having a problem since they redesigned it and added a new heat sink.
- theaceoffire, on 12/14/2007, -7/+201. I can stream music, pictures, and video to my ps3 from the computer. For free. From Windows, Mac, and linux.
2. I can/have stored most of my movies in mp4 format on my ps3, so I can watch most of my library without changing disks. (Try avidemux by the way)
3. Sony is giving the PS3 full Divx support soon. That means avi glory. //Feel free to ignore this until out.
4. I can easily and cheaply upgrade my hard drive without voiding my warrentee.
Dude, I can play my ps3 without paying for multiplayer, and I can pay exact amounts if I chose from a saved credit card to buy exactly what I want from the PSN Store in my LOCAL CURRENCY (Dollers), and then download it to like 4 ps3's.
I can give an allowance to my kid, automatically, per week/etc basis for use in the Store.
I can control what level games he can play.
Almost all the best games come out for either PS3 or PC, so I get to play almost everything, from Bioshock to (eventually) Halo 3.
And having a web browser means I can download things (Like free ps3 themes made by me or others), and install them. Without being charged. As in, no money from pocket to microsoft. As in, Free.
I hope this makes my point of view clear. The 360 is fun, but I still prefer the ps3. - KMartSheriff, on 12/14/2007, -2/+15No, you're thinking of the Wii.
- Ajajadude, on 12/14/2007, -1/+14Reading comprehension is a lost art in this world....
- Tserk, on 12/14/2007, -5/+17The fan boy FUD is thick in here.
- lucidapathy, on 12/14/2007, -1/+13What hate? Jesus christ where the ***** have you been for the last year? Shinythingy said it already, but my god... it needs to be said again. where the ***** you been?
- philhatesyou, on 12/14/2007, -8/+20You're forgetting something, the PS3 is outselling the 360 in Europe too. The only place the 360 is winning on sales is in North America. Perhaps your accusations of Xenophobia are in the wrong place.
- dasdef, on 12/14/2007, -1/+13I'm buying it before little big planet gets released. Cant wait!!
- MattnJax, on 12/14/2007, -8/+20Definitely, and wait till Gran Turismo 5 comes out. It's too bad GTA4 isn't a Sony exclusive.
- trump48257, on 12/14/2007, -1/+13Smaller....ok, Ill give you that one, but you do get silence.
Reliable? I think that one has already been proven. Failure rate of < 1% is what tends to be the consenses for the PS3---significantly better than the % of people getting the "red ring of death" which was clearly in the double digits for a while on a certain other system (which I have...and love, but had one fail one me).
$300? They're selling at a loss already. Don't be greedy--you can't even get a decent version of the 360 for < $300. - krische, on 12/14/2007, -3/+15Oh are you one of those that get off thinking you are better than everyone?
- philhatesyou, on 12/14/2007, -3/+14If the short supply didn't last all year, it's irrelevant. Once the supply problems were gone and 360s were sitting on shelves, that means everyone who wanted one at the beginning but couldn't buy it had one. Supply was greater than demand. Sales were effected for the first couple of months, but the overall yearly sales weren't effected at all.
- inactive, on 12/14/2007, -1/+12Been in a few stores recently, xmas shopping and all that. All the consoles are sold out in all the stores I have been in. So yeah, I can see those numbers, but VGChartz numbers are horrendously inaccurate. Month after month when they compare to NPD they are off by +/- 20% and they declare victory of accuracy some how... Then all the bad numbers get disappeared from their web site a few days later and it is business as usual.
- theaceoffire, on 12/14/2007, -3/+14Who cares if its obsolete, you got a ps3. Buying a new blu-ray player might be stupid, but if you have one anyway, why not use it?
- Fyro, on 12/14/2007, -4/+15That is why you have a warrenty for 3 years... why would you buy new when you can get it replaced for free, what sense does that make?
- krische, on 12/14/2007, -6/+17But just because the games are made in the US doesn't mean they don't sell them outside of the country as well. I'm sure Europe buys lots of American made games, and over there, the PS3 is a huge market share.
- Dracusis, on 12/14/2007, -1/+12I bought both. The 360 is a good machine, but I do think the PS3 will win out in the years to come.
The attack on the 360 was unnecessary and if anything only shows how utterly naive you are. - gamemaster357, on 12/14/2007, -9/+20so who else is playing UT3 right now?
add me: LiquidShadow - FoxOrian, on 12/14/2007, -2/+13Capture the flag, Island Outpost, full map. That's my favorite game type. I bought Warhawk thinking it'd be a cheaper fun time waster for a little while to get some extra gaming use out of my PS3. Little did I know after my first time playing, I'd practically be living on my PS3 from then on playing countless matches during my free time.
- WhereAmI, on 12/14/2007, -1/+12When did fake fanboy FUD start coming back from a year ago? Look at the back of PS3's Call of Duty 4, 1080i and 1080p are supported.
