- 33PercentGod, on 12/08/2007, -2/+66I own all 3 of the new consoles (blessed) and I was the most impressed with Sony's simply for how open it is. Microsoft's Xbox 360 is locked down tighter then Fort Knox. Sony puts out tools to let you create themes and share them all the while Microsoft is CHARGING you for 4 pictures (and alot of them are advertising movies!). I love how open Sony's system is. Sony hasnt been doing much right in the last year, but it seems like they're finally starting to get their ***** together .
Go mods! - dsmx, on 12/08/2007, -4/+60Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the first console game that will allow mods?
- burchie2, on 12/08/2007, -4/+52Sony is definitely moving in the right direction by letting this console be so open. sounds bad ass
- YouRookies, on 12/08/2007, -1/+18Yay for competition.
- santasing, on 12/08/2007, -1/+17LOL, I agree. But UT3 on the PS3 will have full keyboard and mouse support. Let's see how that works.
- ChinezePanda, on 12/08/2007, -3/+17^ Mark Rein already stated that there will be a system in place to stop hacks, and blatant cheating not only through user createdmods.. but just in general.
I own all 3 as well.. And each day I play my PS3 more and more... and look right next to it... and see how sad and lonely it is getting for my 360... cause lets face it... Mass Effect.... its good... but it's NOT THAT good.. Im not talking story of course.. just it would be nice if my textures were like.. THERE when I was playing the game and had a stable frame rate while in a heated gun battle..
And thats pretty much all there is for it left.... Too Human?.... meh.... I dunno....
I cant wait for Tuesday! - Sigmar, on 12/08/2007, -3/+16Oh yeah. This is going to get REALLY interesting. It'll be nice that when I'm craving new content. I can just find a new mod or new map.
- inactive, on 12/08/2007, -1/+11Wow. In before some PSN hater says "You get what you pay for"
- hotdamn, on 12/08/2007, -0/+10Mass Effect is the only reason I kept my 360 after BioShock. Both ARE that good.
However, I agree, there is not much coming that is of any interest to me. I am glad I shelled out the 400 bucks for a PS3. - inactive, on 12/08/2007, -0/+10Yes, hanahmontana, i think you are in a prime position to judge the gayness of things. Yes.
- MackPrime, on 12/08/2007, -9/+18i play games mostly on a console, but UT on a console just seems wrong, like putting milk in the bowl, then cereal.
- triplehelix, on 12/08/2007, -0/+9you had to go and ruin a perfectly good post, with an outdated, misinformed, overused lie didn't you.
- volacide, on 12/08/2007, -0/+8Level editors have been in many games, but I'd hardly call that a game that allowed for mods. In level editors and stuff you could only deal with existing material, in a mod like this you can actually create entirely new content yourself.
- shinythingy, on 12/08/2007, -0/+6No the publisher said it would be delayed. EPIC had no say in it, everything was on track
- richIsBored, on 12/08/2007, -1/+7I think this is worth discussing as the quote is very implicative of what is likely to occur.
You want to mod the game, but the tools aren't designed for the console. You need to buy the PC version of the game and you'll need a PC capable of running the game for testing during development.
So the question becomes, if you intend to mod the game why buy the PS3 version at all? What I imagine is going to happen is the PC crowd will continue making the mods and the console crowd will just reap the benefits. - Trat, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4I think 2% of the UT3 gamers care that weaking *****. Not a big deal. Plus, who said you cannot tweak the ps3 version?
- dansmeek, on 12/08/2007, -3/+7i really thing this is the correct time to use the phrase...
zOMG!1! - intenscia, on 12/09/2007, -0/+3This is great news for modders, especially if their creations are compatible across platforms (i.e. PS3 UT3 gamers can play PC UT3 gamers online), as this allows the mod teams to reach tons of new gamers who probably are not familiar with modding.
Mod DB already lists around 90 UT3 mods http://www.moddb.com/games/169/unreal-tournament-3 ... so gamers will not soon get bored of this title on the PS3 - KezG, on 12/08/2007, -0/+3For those who want the mouse experience on every game, check out FragFX, it's got good review everywhere and is fairly cheap :)

In the UK play.com and ebuyer.com sell it, in the US i think amazon do... - mu0p, on 12/08/2007, -0/+3"What I imagine is going to happen is the PC crowd will continue making the mods and the console crowd will just reap the benefits"
Yeah totally, but if a PS3 user wants to do some editing on a lower level, they can definately do that with the PS3 toolset, but if they want to go crazy and go for stuff like total conversion mods, of course they will have to get the pc version. - shinythingy, on 12/08/2007, -1/+4By getting he PC version i think they meant the PC version of the toolset. It would make more sense, no one is going to buy 2 versions of the game.
- Trat, on 12/09/2007, -1/+4Anonther kid crying about UT3 being UT2004 etc. The game is out of this world, who cares about the console interface - grow a beard.
- Xabora, on 12/08/2007, -0/+3That explains the UnrealFrontEnd that came with the PC Version.
- pegisys, on 12/08/2007, -2/+4legally anyway, I used PC mods for certain games on a modded xbox before
- ChileanGoD, on 12/08/2007, -1/+3@satasing, There goes my so dreamed console user massacres.
- ViciousFishes, on 12/08/2007, -0/+2"You, my PS3-loving friends reading this, have the opportunity to reshape the distribution and development of user created content and game making. But HOW you say?! You’re not a coder, and you haven’t modeled anything in your life?! Well, first step would be to watch some of the tutorial videos made by our talented LDs to get familiarized with the toolset. Next would be to get the PC version on your system and use the level editor tools to create a level while experimenting with UT3’s existing assets."
You get to shape the PS3 version by also purchasing the PC version!
I'm going to buy the PS3 version, and I'm happy that PC mods can be converted to the PS3, but don't come and tell us PS3 owners how we can change the game by also buying the PC version. I'm not willing to drop $100+ on a game just to make mods, I'll just let the PC users create the mods and enjoy them when they are brought over to the PS3. Unless of course you want to find a way to get Unreal Editor running on my PS3... - inactive, on 12/08/2007, -1/+2indeed,i hope epic put more work into the ps3 version than they did the pc release, otherwise ps3 users are in for a frustrating time :/
- Philbert, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1As far as I know the only way to get the toolset (legally) is to buy the PC version of the game.
- Philbert, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1That's great news. I had already taught myself the basics of the UnrealEd that came with UT 2004 and I've been waiting for UT3 to come out so I could get my hands on the new editor. Of course wouldn't you know now I have a CG job that keeps me to busy to use the new editor...
- Trat, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1There are split-servers for KB&M/Sixaxis.
- ozonew4m, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0In response to the person who commented about sony opening up more I absolutely agree . I recently got the chance to see a bike game being made for my blog http://www.bike-games-to-play.com and they really have opened it right up... well done sony... If only wish microsoft would follow the lead..
- Trat, on 12/09/2007, -0/+0If people cheat on a server you can just login to another one. You failed at tryfing to flower-up the locked system of the PS3 - it sucks.
- Trat, on 12/09/2007, -1/+1You don't need a fat PC for (PS3) modding. People should stop gaying about it. If they feel gay about buying the PC version, then use usenet.
- lolo2007, on 01/22/2008, -0/+0I'm just waiting to see if this game actually runs well. One month they are saying the game is delayed to next year, then all of a sudden it is shoved out the door. Anyone who has played Gears of War knows how buggy that game was, and that was on the console developers aren't struggling with. http://download.paramegsoft.com/
http://www.paramegsoft.com/forum/ - crossers, on 07/23/2008, -0/+0We so talk about games. But nobody wont to say that the youth forget real life with this games.

- schamz, on 12/08/2007, -7/+5You, have the power to use commas properly.
- grumbel, on 12/08/2007, -5/+2Depends, Excite Bike for example had a build in level editor back in 1986. ROM hacks have also been done for ages, but always require flashcards or emulators to run. So this isn't exactly a 'first', but it seems to be one of the only one that is officially supported and allows plenty of freedom.
- themacx, on 12/08/2007, -12/+9warhawk down! we got a problem!.. heh hope this is the end of stupid 8 dollar updates.. anyone up for UT3 I am ;-)
- modifiedbears, on 12/08/2007, -5/+2I'm just waiting to see if this game actually runs well. One month they are saying the game is delayed to next year, then all of a sudden it is shoved out the door. - xerus, on 12/08/2007, -7/+4Unfortunately just keyboard and mouse support isnt enough. The ability to tweak the game to my heart's desire for just a little bit more advantage online is what really fuels my need for PC gaming, and I dont see that happening on consoles for a long time.
- Christbait, on 12/08/2007, -8/+3On a more positive note, it's fair that Sony are "opening up" the use of their machine and allowing a lot of freedom, they need to emphasise this because I think the other consoles are hesitant in doing the same thing (except for XNA but why would I want to make a pac-man re-hash?) and therefore should follow suit and stop being so darn restrictive. The more competion they give, the higher the standards get, across the board.
Now just get some games for the damn thing and maybe I'll consider getting one again. - Sigmar, on 12/08/2007, -8/+2As far as I know it is.. maybe there was something in japan or something, but as far I know yes.
- Christbait, on 12/08/2007, -8/+1Technically no.
- xerus, on 12/08/2007, -13/+4"Next would be to get the PC version on your system and use the level editor tools to create a level while experimenting with UT3’s existing assets." What?
- ThatsPopetastic, on 12/08/2007, -12/+3Well if you played Halo 2 online at all, you would realize the reasoning behind locking the system down so tight. I'm actually glad its like that. Too many people abuse mods to cheat.
- Christbait, on 12/08/2007, -13/+2Wait a minute, what are you all creaming in your pants for again? What's the POINT in buying the PS3 version when you have to buy the PC version as well as upgrade the damn machine? Why not mod for the (far, far superior) PC instead? Way bigger fanbase, way better graphics and way better online play.
Yet another testament to the uselessness of a machine with no solitary purpose. - vpshockwave, on 12/08/2007, -17/+4Until they get the PC version out of "console beta testing" mode, I could give a rat's as about the PS3 version. It was shipped so poorly done compared to previous installments, it's just stupid.
- inactive, on 12/08/2007, -13/+0GRRR DONT DO MODS, NEXT THING YOU KNOW YOULL HAVE GAY AIMBOTS EVERYWHERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
