Newest PS3 COD4 Hackers Caught on Tape
youtube.com — Last night gamer PSN ID: excursel caught a new set of hackers on tape. It seems they have found a way to be part of the game while spectating the only issue is they hid there ids and themselves.
- 996 diggs
- digg it
- 000dom000, on 04/24/2008, -6/+160I hate how people aren't good enough at the game so they have to cheat. They aren't even good cheaters, they ended up losing.
- SuperVepr308, on 04/24/2008, -4/+6Exactly.
- sakuraz, on 04/24/2008, -5/+17Or they're just trying to show off the cheats, not to win.
- MRintheKeys, on 04/24/2008, -12/+5But wait guys! Look at this! This is the most awesomest glitch EVAR!!!111!!1 /douchebags
- legoalert33, on 04/24/2008, -16/+6Do it for the lulz.
- vegasmacguy, on 04/24/2008, -15/+3I hate how people aren't good enough at cheating so they actually have to become good at the game. They aren't even good gamers, they end up losing.
- NgrHader, on 04/24/2008, -3/+8This was why I had stopped playing SOCOM
- SuperVepr308, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2It nearly ruined the first RB6:Vegas. Gliching like crazy in every match you entered. It was sickening.
- AresDiggs, on 04/24/2008, -8/+3@ NgrHader -- I was one of those people on socom that did all the glitches ... none of the codes... and the spec glitch on socom (which is what this is) is what got me into glitching
- Ajajadude, on 04/24/2008, -3/+7So, basically, you are a loser who gets their ass kicked playing games online so needs to cheat.
- AresDiggs, on 04/25/2008, -4/+2I'm a loser cause i get my ass kicked on an online game? ok i don't follow that logic...
- Ajajadude, on 04/24/2008, -3/+7So, basically, you are a loser who gets their ass kicked playing games online so needs to cheat.
- KargeOfTylenol, on 04/24/2008, -4/+1hey..could..you like..t-bone me quick?
- RyanistheRyan, on 04/24/2008, -4/+1Yeah. I dont mind cheatin for fun but ruining a normal match would piss me off. I use to always have non noticeable cheats on, or something i could use if anyone did cheat. Its always nice to get back at someone trying to ruin a game.
Exploiting the game, though, when not ruining other peoples experience, I think is enjoyable. It's like trying to find a loop hole in the logic of the game. I actually hate it when they patch these glitches cuz then it feels like they cut you off from exploring alot of possibly cool things. - Nobi-Wan, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4I really hope your Digg ID doesn't mean what I think it means.
- slaystench, on 04/24/2008, -2/+9"hackers" motives for cheating rarely have anything to do with sucking at a game and needing to cheat.
Getting a rise out of people, attention, and causing frustration for others are the main reasons.- culbeda, on 04/24/2008, -4/+5I think you're all over-analyzing it. There are enough people playing that game that there is a constant churn of people "discovering" the cheat and trying it out for a couple / few games for a laugh. I'm sure there are a few who do it repeatedly to be an ass about it, but I'm willing to bet that most of what you see is just people dorking around for a couple of games to try it. Of course, in MY day, we played around with that crap in private games, but that is harder and harder to two with a central bank of servers.
What I find far more annoying are the people that exploit every idiosyncrasy of the game to get the maximum advantage in a "friendly" game. The old "jump-crouch-shoot" comes to mind.- slaystench, on 04/24/2008, -1/+7I'm just telling you based on 10 years of playing online fps games. I'm not over analyzing a thing.
- ShugNinx21, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3I've played with many many glitchers and cheaters that after the match they boast about how much ass they kicked. So there are plenty of people who aren't very good normally and use the glitches to gain advantages so they don't suck as bad.
- Ajajadude, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2Most cheaters I ever came across on the PS2 online games just plain sucked, even when cheating, and would always get their ass kicked. Most of them didn't even have a mic so there was no way to get a rise out of anyone that they could even hear.
- estvir, on 04/25/2008, -1/+2Uh, thank goodness those morons from myg0t, japs and so on are more or less dead.
- culbeda, on 04/24/2008, -4/+5I think you're all over-analyzing it. - slackerbox, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2This seems like more of a griefing cheat than something to actually try winning with.
- battletrax, on 04/25/2008, -1/+2Xbox Live FTW.
You see with a paid service, you get paid security guards.
- soupdawg30, on 04/24/2008, -30/+6I played tonight. Didn't see anyone doing this *****.
- Shakermaker, on 04/24/2008, -10/+5You must have a 360 - I think alot of these happen to PS3's.
- dmac41, on 04/24/2008, -4/+5I've been the PS3 version for a couple months and I've never encountered any cheating before.
- soupdawg30, on 04/25/2008, -1/+1Me neither I am thinking whoever is doing this is keeping it very low key.
- dmac41, on 04/24/2008, -4/+5I've been the PS3 version for a couple months and I've never encountered any cheating before.
- soupdawg30, on 04/25/2008, -1/+1I have a PS3
- Shakermaker, on 04/24/2008, -10/+5You must have a 360 - I think alot of these happen to PS3's.
- Trat, on 04/24/2008, -110/+5LOL, I do that all the time. I hear people cry over my headset: "Ah, my kill ratio, you *****. Come kill me face-2-face, you loser!!!" Then I step behind them and kill them all the time. People get really mad then, I don't know why.
- snotrokit, on 04/24/2008, -3/+76you sir, are a douchebag.
- aspec, on 04/24/2008, -1/+46I wouldn't worry about this wannabe. He probably doesn't even own a copy of the game. Just trolling.
- keitarofujiwara, on 04/24/2008, -10/+3You got an appropriate nickname there... t-Rat!
- com2, on 04/24/2008, -0/+7But he spelled it wrong, I think the r is supposed to be a w.
- DemDude, on 04/24/2008, -0/+7well that was lame...
- mobbo, on 04/24/2008, -1/+28Oh, I don't know why people get mad. Maybe it's because some people spend all day at work and look forward to a nice evening of downing a few beers and playing online to relieve stress only to find themselves gayed by some prick kid who did nothing all day but download a hack someone ELSE made. That kind of ***** would ruin someone's day, but I don't know why on EARTH they would get mad.
- 4degrees, on 04/24/2008, -9/+2After all it is only a game. Is the stress really worth it? Play something else, go to another server. Idiots are a relentless force, like zombies, best to have a good defense. Zombie rule #1 where ever zombies are you are not.
- Philbert, on 04/25/2008, -1/+1I don't own or play this game, but I can understand the players here that do. If I'm trying to have a little fun I shouldn't have to beforced to go play another game or play on anothr server. Maybe this server is where all of my friends are.
- Ajajadude, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2If I'm downing beers and playing with a bunch of people I know, then some punk cheater can't bug me. I enjoy getting my ass kicked when I'm drunk. I get a kick out of finding the most terrible and ridiculous ways of getting killed and enjoy it more than when I'm playing seriously and sober.
- 4degrees, on 04/24/2008, -9/+2After all it is only a game. Is the stress really worth it? Play something else, go to another server. Idiots are a relentless force, like zombies, best to have a good defense. Zombie rule #1 where ever zombies are you are not.
- IxSamsonxI, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5you sir, are the worst kind of person there is.
- ProfessorFoo, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5I agree. Molesting children is a-ok, cheating at an online game is unforgivable.
- iRelinquish, on 04/24/2008, -8/+3I modded in halo, and it was some of the best times of my video gaming life EVAR! but the most fun was just learning how to beat other modders
- Apollyon0810, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5They call it modding now? Not hacking?
- Spectre77, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4That would make more sense considering 99% of the cheaters out there don't have the brainpower to "hack" anything.
- Apollyon0810, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5They call it modding now? Not hacking?
- Trat, on 04/24/2008, -10/+0LOL at the comments. Get a life, its just a game...
- Nobi-Wan, on 04/24/2008, -0/+6Dude, if I go out and buy some $60 game that I pretty much only get to play a few hours a week then I don't want it spoiled by some ***** with nothing better to do. You'll get it once you get a job and a life and some 12 year old like yourself starts pulling the ***** on you when you've only got time to play a few rounds with some friends after a long day at work. *****.
- Trat, on 04/25/2008, -1/+0LOL, why you let me inflict som much damage on your life? Enjoy the game, in real life war there are also cheaters you know. Haha! ;-b
- Nobi-Wan, on 04/24/2008, -0/+6Dude, if I go out and buy some $60 game that I pretty much only get to play a few hours a week then I don't want it spoiled by some ***** with nothing better to do. - snotrokit, on 04/24/2008, -3/+76you sir, are a douchebag.
- SuperVepr308, on 04/24/2008, -6/+39Has anyone seen that crazy ***** on the 360 where you can run around under the map and shoot up at people? Is that really possible? For the record, I hate cheaters and boosters. No *****.
- r3zonance, on 04/24/2008, -1/+16Yes it is real. I believe it's only possible in "Old School" mode, as you are able to jump higher.
- logicalnoise, on 04/24/2008, -1/+19it sounds like someone escaped the map. Which is possible in any game if there's a seam in polygons or a way to get high enough to jump over the egde of a map. I haven't seen it yet in COD4 but XBL has ways punishing people who do it.
- KrylonWolf, on 04/24/2008, -13/+2XBL punishing people? That's a laugh. The Moderators don't do anything...
- briansearles, on 04/24/2008, -0/+17They ban your ass.
- KrylonWolf, on 04/24/2008, -9/+3Never happens to any of the people that I'm aware of that cheat. Know a few people who have been at it on Gears for the past 8 months and nothing has happened yet.
- logicalnoise, on 04/24/2008, -0/+11well do you report them?
- KrylonWolf, on 04/24/2008, -4/+1Every time.
- briansearles, on 04/24/2008, -0/+17They ban your ass.
- KrylonWolf, on 04/24/2008, -13/+2XBL punishing people? That's a laugh. The Moderators don't do anything...
- Raiderkid6, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3ts only in the Old Schol mode, but only like 10 people play it lol. It makes for high jumps.
- wageslaven, on 04/24/2008, -10/+15Glitch exploiting is not what is taking place here. PS3 games communicate in plain text protocols over the internet, any sniffer/shaper can much with the game. This is an enormous problem for PSN.
The integrity of all the games is undermined by this.- tugboat, on 04/24/2008, -5/+12Where are you getting this from? I have worked on many PS3 games and all of our in game communication is encrypted. The PSN network is encrypted as well.
Its up to the studio who made the game to determine to use just plain text protocols in game which would be a big mistake. And why would the studio just use plain text when running on ps3.. why wouldnt they do it on xbox as well?
Its most likely an easter egg some developer put in the game.- bmystry, on 04/24/2008, -1/+6An easter egg that lets you fly around and shoot unseen? Some easter egg.
- xxbrighteyed, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4You've worked on PS3 games, andd you think a developer would include something so stupid as an easter egg? Sure buddy.
- championchap, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2I'm not your buddy fwiend.
- tugboat, on 04/24/2008, -5/+12Where are you getting this from? I have worked on many PS3 games and all of our in game communication is encrypted. The PSN network is encrypted as well.
- AzureRise, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4Yeah, my brother and his stupid friends use old school mode to cheat with the higher jumps. They run around the outside borders of the level that are fenced off, get on rooftops, and walk in the air on invisible ground.
- beskurrd, on 04/24/2008, -5/+27It's nice to see that the losers that do this aren't limiting their time to just Halo 2 / 3 on the 360 or CS:S on the PC.
LAMERS!- wukillabee, on 04/24/2008, -17/+3yeah pc games suck, everyone uses an aimbot
- Impeller, on 04/24/2008, -8/+2WTF? Aimbot? That sucks...
- dmac41, on 04/24/2008, -4/+2You probably just suck...
- chanop, on 04/24/2008, -4/+20If you go to a well admin'ed server, there are no cheaters. I use the same servers in my favorites, and have never had a problem with cheaters on PC. I have seen cheating when playing on xbox. PC is also a more mature crowd, not a bunch of teenies screaming "***** this, ***** that"
- KrylonWolf, on 04/24/2008, -13/+3But the PC has Runescape, which is epic failure on the part of your point on maturity.
- alittleroy101, on 04/24/2008, -2/+14Stop saying epic failure.
- MRintheKeys, on 04/24/2008, -7/+5Cheaters cheat. I've experienced way more playing PC Games in my day than I have on consoles.
- fandyboy, on 04/24/2008, -1/+14You've obviously never play counterstrike then.
- KrylonWolf, on 04/24/2008, -5/+2CS isn't strictly PC though.
- Vzylexy, on 04/24/2008, -2/+12For all intents and purposes it is, does anyone REALLY play that ***** Xbox port?
- KrylonWolf, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2Good point.
- xino, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2@Vzylexy
People really do play the Xbox port and here is the proof.
http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/04/23/live-act ...
That said, I agree with you. Almost every time Counterstrike gets mentioned on digg, you should assume the console version of it isn't the one being talked about.
- chanop, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1You're right, I'm just commenting on COD4 really. The last game I was into multiplayer online was Delta Force 2 on PC, and there was rampant cheating on that. Even then (2001), if you went to a well-admined server, it was minimal. COD4 on PC, I simply haven't seen any cheating. Maybe I'm just lucky
- KrylonWolf, on 04/24/2008, -0/+0Wasn't COD4 sharing it's servers with another online game for a while? That was the rumor at least.
- KrylonWolf, on 04/24/2008, -5/+2CS isn't strictly PC though.
- KrylonWolf, on 04/24/2008, -13/+3But the PC has Runescape, which is epic failure on the part of your point on maturity.
- rohanch, on 04/24/2008, -0/+10There are still far more cheaters on PC as its easier to hack the games. I think you're right about the maturity though.
- cathl, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Not only is it easier to hack stuff on the PC, but they have MMOs which translate gameplay into cash. There are cash incentives to cheat in some games.
- wageslaven, on 04/24/2008, -8/+2"Halo 2 / 3 on the 360"
There arent cheats on these games -- yes, people can find and exploit bugs, but that is not what you are seeing here. This is some kind of hack (how are the names changed to "@@1"?- Nobi-Wan, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Cheating, hacking, glitches, using known exploits. It's all the same. Just play the game the way it was designed.
- IxSamsonxI, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2People still play Halo 2? Shucks, its been sometime. I fee like playing a match or two for ole time's sake now.
- gutistg, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4I still play Halo CE online every once in a while.
- Nobi-Wan, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2I sold Halo 2 after Halo 3 came out. I wasn't dealing with all the glitches and silly aim boxes in that game anymore. Plus there was no way I was playing the joke of a campaign again, either. I just used the credit toward Mass Effect and never regretted it.
- wukillabee, on 04/24/2008, -17/+3yeah pc games suck, everyone uses an aimbot
- McShr3dd3r, on 04/24/2008, -12/+5I saw the video last night. Was realy weird. Somehow they were able to Spectate and still get kills. Not too mention they were flying or something. Interesting video. I would be pissed if one of them killed me in the game.
- timewarp424, on 04/24/2008, -5/+14I am not sure what exactly you did here. You somehow found a way to summarize the video in the first person without adding anything whatsoever to it.
Next time, let the video speak for itself. It does a lot better job.- ericrous, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1In his defense, he did add the self-evident observation that this would piss him off (as if it would make anyone happy).
- timewarp424, on 04/24/2008, -5/+14I am not sure what exactly you did here. You somehow found a way to summarize the video in the first person without adding anything whatsoever to it.
- hadak, on 04/24/2008, -42/+17Erm. Don't buy a PS3?
- r3zonance, on 04/24/2008, -22/+13At least on the PS3 only the SOFTWARE is faulty.
- com2, on 04/24/2008, -8/+2At least on a Windows PC only the SOFTWARE is faulty.
- AvidPreatorian, on 04/24/2008, -4/+15every system has hackers and cheaters. by your logic, let's all go outside and play
guys i'm just kidding, let's find another server. social interaction ftl- hadak, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3What's wrong with climbing trees?
- sharpie05, on 04/24/2008, -4/+1The users too, dont forget that.
- r3zonance, on 04/24/2008, -22/+13At least on the PS3 only the SOFTWARE is faulty.
- gu0d, on 04/24/2008, -4/+20Changing mag
- zaduma, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3Cover me while I reload!
- nathangl, on 04/24/2008, -32/+6I for one am a casual gamer. I hate people that take advantage of others who are only there to have fun and mess around. I don't care about my score, I don't care about my level (22). Why the hell do people give a ***** about ruining the experience of others? For the record, I only wallhacked counterstrike for a breif period of 2 months.
- aspec, on 04/24/2008, -0/+42"I don't care about my level (22)."
You haven't done a convincing job of not caring. - surKaz, on 04/24/2008, -1/+18"For the record, I only wallhacked counterstrike for a breif period of 2 months."
2 months.. that's pretty 'breif' (brief). - beskurrd, on 04/24/2008, -2/+7You FAIL at spelling and grammar.
- MRintheKeys, on 04/24/2008, -0/+17At least he didn't cheat and use the "Check Spelling" button.
- Mejogid, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1You've lost me... casual gamers generally don't treat games competitively, in which case there's no real incentive to hack besides being an ass. If that's what your into, host your own server or play single player games.
- Klarth, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2M-M-M-M-M-MONSTER TROLL.
Honestly, guys. How ***** gullible are you?- surKaz, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Seriously, how dumb do you think the guys (except that last one) are?..
I still did it..
- surKaz, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Seriously, how dumb do you think the guys (except that last one) are?..
- aspec, on 04/24/2008, -0/+42"I don't care about my level (22)."
- zelah, on 04/24/2008, -6/+17he said "at at 1" but they were & not @
- logicalnoise, on 04/24/2008, -18/+5their called ampresands
- praha, on 04/24/2008, -3/+23You feel smart now, don't ya?
BTW, "they're called ampersands." (that's 2 corrections)- logicalnoise, on 04/24/2008, -24/+1dude, didn't know what they were called, I helped, ***** you.
- giveer, on 04/24/2008, -2/+2(whoops wrong spot..) never mind.
- praha, on 04/24/2008, -3/+23You feel smart now, don't ya?
- Spectre77, on 04/24/2008, -2/+3Grammar Nazis sure are getting a lot of diggs these days.
- logicalnoise, on 04/24/2008, -18/+5their called ampresands
- wukillabee, on 04/24/2008, -17/+7mercenary team deathmatch ftw, no gay spectators or clan fags FTW
- sambapati87, on 04/24/2008, -0/+133God, hackers on online games have to be some of the biggest losers of all time.
- noots, on 04/24/2008, -14/+2which is why they do it. Because they know it pisses people like you and everyone that dugg you, off.
- j0nnyDiGITAL, on 04/24/2008, -2/+8Wait so they hack online games because it makes people who hate people who hack online games mad? How does that make any sense? I'm going to go right ahead and assume you're one of those lame hackers and call you a loser.
- ProfessorFoo, on 04/24/2008, -1/+4It actually makes complete sense. If people do something you hate, you should get mad. And if you hate someone for hacking a game, you should hate it when people hack the game as well.
- j0nnyDiGITAL, on 04/24/2008, -2/+8Wait so they hack online games because it makes people who hate people who hack online games mad? How does that make any sense? I'm going to go right ahead and assume you're one of those lame hackers and call you a loser.
- fokov, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5Well when people aren't good and can't do what it takes to get skill they cheat or fake it. Just look at the multi-billion dollar penile "enhancement" industry. Pathetic.
- noots, on 04/24/2008, -14/+2which is why they do it. Because they know it pisses people like you and everyone that dugg you, off.
- billiamboy, on 04/24/2008, -3/+43this seriously just takes the fun out of the game. This is why i quit CS 1.6 for so long. people are either hacking or calling me a hacker (just because i get headshots).
- arial, on 04/24/2008, -3/+15HAX!
- Vzylexy, on 04/24/2008, -0/+7Ever try playing competitively? It's generally a bit more mature than just pubbing around, you don't have anyone yelling out, "AWP whore!" or any ***** like that.
- billiamboy, on 04/24/2008, -1/+4yeah i played cal for a little while and my brother placed 7th in the CPL one year. but he moved on to real guns and is shipped to the sandbox in october.
- ProfessorFoo, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I hate those awping bastards. They always kill me.
- Apollyon0810, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1***** awp whores....
- billiamboy, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1so true. i prefer a para or deagle to the face
- j0keR, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Some friends of mine had a team that made it very far in CAL while cheating. Even CAL-i players have been kicked out for cheating. The only legitimate competitive play is LAN, and I've seen cheats for that too, and have even heard of high level players getting caught. In some games, if you play for long enough you can discover your own glitches that can be exploited without others realizing it. As somebody who has been pro-level gaming for the last 8 years I can say with complete certainty that gaming has one of the highest ***** factors. If you're into competition you are far better off finding a different hobby/sport... Or taking up programming and making your own cheats.
- Isandunk, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4Ahhhh CS 1.6... back in the good old days.
- pushmouse, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I played and enjoyed 1.6 but you'd need to go back a bit further for the good old days.
- Evi1d33d, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Shield whore ftw

There will always be people who find game-bugs and use them to their advantage -- but that is not what is taking place here (or what takes place on PSN quite a lot).- TH3W1R3D, on 04/24/2008, -2/+6Do you remember the flying hacks in halo 2? I'd call that a hack, not a bug..
- Juntistik, on 04/24/2008, -0/+10Do you remember them all being banned? in Halo 2. I'd call that hardly any hackers. Also, unsigned code CANNOT (as of now) be executed on a 360.
- PrismSub7, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5As far as I know, the problem in Halo 2 was the unprotected caching of maps on the HDD, not running unsigned code.

- beachteen, on 04/24/2008, -14/+3in believe you are confusing hackers with crackers. its similar to confusing hunters with poachers. hackers are people who make things better, notworse.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3Errr, no, there's both good and destructive hackers, and no, the destructive hackers aren't necessarily "crackers".
- SSUK, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Yeah, white people always ruin online games.
But in seriousness. Hacking and Cracking in this instance are on in the same. Outside of modification to online games, "Crackers" are people who compromise the security of files to modify their contents to preform a certain task. "Hackers" are people who brute-force a program to preform a certain task, whether this is from a few byte changes or there's a separate program enforcing the task.- beachteen, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1i disagree, people who brute force a program are definitly crackers. a hack is an innovation, not nessesarily involving programs
- itsgotyou, on 04/24/2008, -4/+2As opposed to hackers ruining single player campaign mode.
- Lennandale, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0They ruin online gaming because what they are doing is affecting other users of the game. If someone hacks the Halo 3 campaign, it doesn't bother me unless I play the campaign with said person online.
And if you're trying to be witty... you're not. kthxbai

- thingnumber2, on 04/24/2008, -2/+34I've never understood how so much pleasure can be had from cheating. Surely they don't think that the fact that they have managed to exploit some glitch in the game makes them good at the game. When I play a game, the pleasure of winning is derived from my skill or strategy, not if I have some hack to ensure victory. Exceptionally lame.
- plhearn, on 04/24/2008, -15/+4You don't understand how if you suck at a game it would be fun to cheat and automatically kill everyone without having to be good? Don't play dumb.
- Wetzilla, on 04/24/2008, -9/+5About 5 or 6 years ago I downloaded one of the cheating programs for Counter Strike, just to see what it did. I didn't need it by any means, I was able to do quite well without it. It actually was a lot of fun for the day or so I used it.
- noots, on 04/24/2008, -0/+11it's the same as trolling. Only in a game. People take great pleasure in watching other people cry, moan and get annoyed.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3The world is full of jerks who like nothing more than just to annoy others, piss off others, and just plain ruin any fun or enjoyment others have.
- Lazer32, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2This is what happens when you implement global stats system and rankings. Everyone wants to have a high rank and will do anything to get it - especially cheat
- Splee84, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0I think its because the thrill of not getting caught...for some anyways but those who outright do it, they're just assholes all the way through. It really is sad seeing such a good game being ruined by people who use hacks. I'm pretty sure they would feel proud of themselves for taking candy from babies and would kill a puppy or kitty if they had a chance just to see if they can a) get away with it b) to see a helpless animal get overpowered. I'm fortunate enough to have friends who despise cheating so it grew on me that cheating is for losers who can't get by with their skills.(or the lack of)

- mobbo, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2I really hope XBox360 version gets another patch soon to fix the terrible choosing of hosts. Last night there were 3 matches I played where the host that was chosen revealed they had very slim upstream speeds, around 256Kbps to 384Kbps, yet my buddy with FiOS (~15Mbps upstream), was never chosen to host. It was Laaaaaagggg-fest 2008.
I also hope a new patch can fix when you back out of a game to find a new group of people to play against and you are shoved right back into the SAME GAME!!! That's why I played 3 games on that terrible host because everytime I left to find a new group, it put me back in.
Oh, and take off the Martyrdom perk for the love of GOD!- XtremeBug, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Upload speed does not matter as much as ping does. I've monitored my network when hosting games on XBL, and it usually only hovers around 20KBps (160Kbps). Thing is though, is that I have very low latency (getting 10ms to google right now), so chances are, I'd be able to host a better server than someone with 15Mb upload, even though I only have 1Mb.
That being said though, I do agree that they need to work on the finding of hosts. If anything, let me at least be put in a server that is in my own country when originally searching for a game.

- vmspionage, on 04/24/2008, -4/+2Are turbo controllers considered cheating? People always seems to get pissed off at my full auto .50 sniper rifle and DE.
- artemisn, on 04/24/2008, -3/+0I unno.
I've seen some people do INSANE stuff with what seems to be a fully automatic USP in games, so I know that's a turbo controller. Same for the G3. It's not cheating, it's just...Cheap. Like cage matching for golden guns, it's not cheating, just cheap and easy.
I've considered getting one, but the piece-o-***** Gamestop didn't have one, I didn't want to ride my bike to Gamecrazy, and I didn't feel like ordering one online. The controller I got with the PS3 is still working perfectly tho. - LucasJ218, on 04/24/2008, -6/+3Turbo controllers aren't going to turn a semi-automatic weapon into a full automatic weapon, nor will it increase the rate of fire what-so-ever.

http://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=1738 ...- l0rdnic0, on 04/24/2008, -2/+0That thats us! It turns my egale into a near fully auto with a press and hold of a button. But AcidMods.com does not condone cheating!!!! I also feel that if you see people doing this you should file a complaint too. We made that mod for private games so you can have fun with your friends not so you could waist everyone in the game. Also our mod is more then just turbo trigger, we can program macros like switching to the pistol and unloading it and then flipping back to primary gun with the push of one button!
- Cimlite, on 04/24/2008, -0/+7... and your completely wrong, watch the video here:
- designerutah, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Earn your skill or be a loser with cash. Fancy controllers won't make you better at the game. It may help you win more often, but... here's the key.... it's not YOU that's getting better. You purchased a solution that lets you act in ways outside of limitations that everyone else lives within. So by that light, yes, it's cheating. And cheap.

- dhughes, on 04/24/2008, -0/+10 This is weird. I just started playing COD4 recently even though I bought it when it came out (I've been playing Halo3). I went to join a game and was too late or something so I ended up spectating which I didn't even know you could do. It was interesting to see since I need some tips on what the hell to do to not die in two seconds but I was booted, I wonder if the host freaked out because of this. I never tried to shoot or interfere but that would be hilarious if it wasn't unsporting, and yes I also despise anyone who cheats I mean what the hell is the point of cheating?
This was on an Xbox360 not a PS3.- Caleb83, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5when you join a match, if you hit B instead of choosing a class, you'll spectate the match. If you spectate for about 60 seconds you get booted.
- martoq, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Hosts can only boot in private matches I believe. There are no "host" controls on public matches contrary to what a lot of people thing.

My friend and I played these cheaters in VT3 who were doing ridiculous drop shots that drop dead near the net, power shots that come with unusually high speed that its tough to return, super slice serves that throw you so far out the court.
Anyways, we persevered and we actually beat them. We changed strategy by lobbing and doing different things to throw them off and we won. Yes !!!! I can't tell you how excited we were to beat those cheaters. Awesome feeling. - giveer, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1"IDs and themselves" are where?
- hiphopjon, on 04/24/2008, -0/+6why cant people play that damn game like its ment to be played? do you guys really suck that much that you have to cheat?
- designerutah, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3Apparently they do. And even worse, they miss the whole point of playing the game:
1. To EARN the skill
2. The satisfaction of WINNING through their skill
3. The relaxation from ENJOYING a good game
Cheaters are like losers in the freeway that travel slow in the passing lane just to tick people off. Calling them "losers" is an insult to those poor people who just can't help it that they don't have the hand-eye coordination to compete.- wafflesomd, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1It's a video game.

- muslax27, on 04/24/2008, -2/+4I was on youtube last night and saw some videos of the aimbot being put to use in COD4 - it was ridiculous (and i'm so glad I don't have to worry about that on the 360)
- Lanketer, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2Yeah it was pretty ridiculous , the ps3 cod4 game save wasn't write protected, and you could edit cvars the game used, (change bullet tracer size, jump height, acceleration ect). If you ended up being the host of the game, your edited game save applied the cvars to everybody. There were some cvars that could be used without being host, like adding a laser to your gun and having enemy names appear through walls. The best cvar edit was taking advantage of the slight auto aim feature. You could change the radius of the target zone, which basically resulted in auto aim. Those cvars are still built into the game, and I'm sure with a little ingenuity they will come back.
