- dheaddy, on 12/29/2007, -10/+53It's a sad day when a screensaver is a motivating force in making you turn your PS3 on
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -7/+46It's funny how every firmware released has a few hidden gems that they always fail to mention.
- BlackGaff, on 12/29/2007, -3/+37so, am I the only one missing how the visualizer is actually related to the music being played?
- Nossie, on 12/29/2007, -3/+30yup, just buttering you up for the next rootkit :D
yes that was a joke... dont take it to heart :P /grabs his hat - Mcaruso, on 12/29/2007, -3/+23http://youtube.com/watch?v=PTG5Jh1D3og
- mywhitenoise, on 12/29/2007, -7/+26I just found out about this a few days ago, tried it last night...looks extremely well done.
- phronko, on 12/29/2007, -0/+18Nope. Wondered this myself when I tried it. Unless I'm missing something too, it's more of a screensaver that displays the title of songs being played than a music visualizer.
- mikemil828, on 12/29/2007, -11/+24Nice to see how the anti sony folk are getting all defensive over a simple visualizer.
- markperia, on 12/29/2007, -4/+17At the very least they show some concern for their customers by giving them more features. I don't understand why people here are still bashing the PS3. OK you may say that it is probably just their way of saying "we're sorry for all the ***** we've given you these past years" but at least they're *trying* to get on the good side of their customers again. What has Microsoft done for their customers lately?
- reignrk, on 12/29/2007, -4/+17*buy
people like you on xbox live made me buy a ps3 - dasdef, on 12/29/2007, -7/+19cool. I turned my ps3 on just for this. Very cool, although nothing really happens.
- JayD16, on 12/29/2007, -0/+10Why does it need a solitary purpose? Its $500...it better do a lot of *****.
- Nogatco, on 12/29/2007, -11/+21What a nice surprise this was!
- luciferin, on 12/29/2007, -3/+13God forbid.. Nothing like playing Rush on Guitar Hero and listening to some Queen.
- inactive, on 12/29/2007, -2/+11What about when Apple announced visualizations for iTunes?
- loganhid, on 12/29/2007, -1/+10It's sad when you try to turn on your 360 and you get the red ring of death
- rockrapdude, on 12/29/2007, -0/+9Looks like somekind of a space movie when listening to rock.
- truspect0r, on 12/29/2007, -8/+16As a 360 owner, I'm jealous.
- mikemil828, on 12/29/2007, -4/+12you should have bought a friggin boombox then, it's cheaper than an xbox.
- luciferin, on 12/29/2007, -3/+11Stereo broken?
Music in games is not an issue for most people. Not that a feature hurts anyone, unless developers stop putting work into their game music. - dansmeek, on 12/29/2007, -1/+8waits for truspector's obligatory:
"Lame. I think I'll wait for the superior Xbox360 Space Theme Visualizer version."
comment - VelvetoneFusion, on 12/29/2007, -0/+7Spinning blue cube 2.0
- shinythingy, on 12/29/2007, -1/+8XBL down again?
- bitterbug, on 12/29/2007, -0/+6It's pretty but it would be nice if the music had an effect on it. Like if I'm playing aggressive music asteroids impacts in the oceans and send out shockwaves through the atmosphere. If it's really fast bouncy stuff then Hello Kitty starts to spread like a virus popping up all over the planet and dividing like Planaria.
That would be a fun visualizer.
Hell, even better would be a simulated global nuclear war and the music samples generate anti-ballistic missiles to shoot them down, and then you could give songs scores like in missile command. - b04155, on 12/29/2007, -0/+6I kept waiting for something awesome to happen. I'm happy for all those who enjoy it and more power to you, but it did nothing for me.
- CaptMorg61182, on 12/29/2007, -2/+7I agree completely. I do not own a PS3 at the moment, but I do think it gets unfairly negative press. It is a solid Blue-Ray player and if they would just come out with some good games that are exclusive to the system it would be totally worth the money. And I agree, Microsoft has done nothing but add stupid games to Halo that suck and annoy me to no end, so it is really nice to see Sony throwing something out there to their customers. Nice job, Sony, this was sweet.
- JayD16, on 12/29/2007, -1/+6If you think digg is pro Sony you're crazy. Digg might be less anti-Sony then 6 months ago but I think everyone is.
- shinythingy, on 12/29/2007, -1/+5The 360 is also a games player so why do the fanboys always mention that it has the ability to play your own music?
- timbro1, on 12/29/2007, -8/+12i just noticed this a couple days ago its bloody amazing
- frygar, on 12/29/2007, -1/+5Such as....?
- JayD16, on 12/29/2007, -3/+7No is trying to make you buy a PS3 with this article. Its news because Sony didn't say anything about it and not many know that its there...If you think its lame digg it down.
- posture, on 12/29/2007, -2/+6Seems like it would look nice with some Brian Eno playing.
- mudsonjar, on 12/29/2007, -1/+5Especially during the holidays
- CReyes4182, on 12/31/2007, -0/+3Lot of xbox owners online today... why don't you go play on xbox live or something... oooooh thats right it doesn't work right now.
- samdu, on 12/30/2007, -0/+3Start some music and hit the square (or circle - I don't recall right off, it should say on screen for a few seconds) button. That cycles through the visualizers (Earth, Normal, Wave).
- tas08, on 12/29/2007, -0/+3The re-release of XP for an extra year.
- samdu, on 12/30/2007, -0/+3The influx of games has started, but it did take a while. Check out Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and, even better, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - most under appreciated game of the year.
- Eldhusrulla, on 12/29/2007, -1/+4I like it, it's pretty cool looking and it amazing how well it goes with music like Metallica, Disturbed or Dragonforce :P
- truspect0r, on 12/29/2007, -2/+5lol you're a fanboy too?
- luciferin, on 12/29/2007, -1/+4Man, I love Jeff Minter (the designer). His work is really unappreciated in my opinion.
- colonelxc, on 12/30/2007, -0/+3You apparently don't understand sarcasm without tags
- jcani, on 12/29/2007, -0/+3better get to work on that
- DiGiTaLFX, on 12/29/2007, -0/+3Agreed
- CReyes4182, on 12/31/2007, -0/+2you're like 6 months too late.
- phronko, on 12/29/2007, -1/+3Yes, but does it look like "somekind" of anything else when you listen to something other than rock? Or is it the same no matter what?
- samdu, on 12/30/2007, -0/+2The PS3 is an entertainment hub, not JUST a game console.
- Goobersmooch, on 12/29/2007, -5/+7its pretty...but completely unrelated to the music and completely lame....i was perfectly entertained and my satisfaction was met by watching 30 secs worth on youtube
its a lot like the spiderman visualizer for winamp several years ago...it was cool...but unrelated to the music...therefore not being so much of a visualizer for your music...but just visuals - nobelief, on 12/29/2007, -2/+4you bought PS3s for a screensaver?
- samdu, on 12/30/2007, -0/+2That was old by this time LAST year, dude.
- JayD16, on 12/29/2007, -0/+2I didn't digg you down for making fun of Sony. I dugg you down for lack of originality.
