New Final Fantasy Exclusive For PS3?
1up.com — Shane states that he has been speaking to representatives from Square Enix, who have told him that "Final Fantasy XIII on 360 announcement swung the ball towards Microsoft. At Square Enix's Japan event in 2 weeks, they will swing the ball back towards Sony".

Chrono Trigger 2 would be more welcomed. :)
But another RPG is great. If this is true that is. - philodygmn, on 07/20/2008, -1/+13Naw, I bet you anything it's a FFVII remake.
- mywhitenoise, on 07/20/2008, -3/+2I doubt it, but I'm digging you up anyway because Sony and Square need to do this. Square would make a ***** of money, Sony would "win" the console war.
- arcticblue, on 07/20/2008, -1/+1I also think it is a FFVII remake. Surely Square knows that they'd make a fortune from remaking that game. They've also been trying to milk the FFVII series for what it's worth by doing everything but remaking it. There's been a few games that take place in the FFVII universe, a movie, and a "potion" drink that came out in Japan (which was pretty good...even got myself a Sephiroth figurine from one). I really think the next thing they're going to do to is remake it.
- Pulp, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1As much as I'd love to see an FFVII remake, I think it's too soon. I'd prefer they make it for the next generation of consoles, that way it can be even more amazing. Surely we can't expect them to remake it every 10 years.
- Anji-Mito, on 07/20/2008, -0/+6I'm expecting some Final Fantasy Versus XIII news, but I love surprises.
- greennoodles, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1On 1upyours where the statement was made (not in that blog) he said it was FF7 related
- cusoman, on 07/20/2008, -1/+7With all the FF7 projects lately, a FF7 remake fr PS3 is not far off, it's almost a certainty now.
That being said, WTF is with this link? It goes to a blog entry that has nothing to do with the quote in the digg submission o_0 - bocce, on 07/20/2008, -1/+7I maybe mistaken, but then there's nothing on that page about a new Final Fantasy or even anything about Square.
- loganhid, on 07/20/2008, -1/+3If it's Final Fantasy 7 remake then yes Sony would be back in the game
- KingGoonie, on 07/21/2008, -6/+2By remaking the worst FF game? Now if they remade FF6 in the same way everyone wants them to remake FF7... well then PS3 might actually be worth a purchase.
- greennoodles, on 07/20/2008, -1/+4the quote is from 1up yours
- logicalnoise, on 07/20/2008, -2/+2article provides nothing as proof or even stating anything in the preview paragraph.
- sanwedgy, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1I think it will be Kingdom Hearts 3!
- EDmAN, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1There are a lot of rumors of a FFVII remake. Since the game has already been localized and the story is complete. It wouldn't take square long to revamp the game with FFXIII graphics, voice acting and place it on the PS3 for Japan or US. Everyone wants this, but will it happen? I don't think that Square has turned its back on Sony. I think Square is doing what is best for Square. Final Fantasy XIII is too big an expense to work with only one system. I'm just angry that the 360 version is no doubt going to hold up the PS3 version in the US. There is no way they can make the entire 360 game in the time it takes to localize the PS3 version.
That being said, if Final Fantasy VII was re-released for the PS3, this would basically reverse the PS3 losing sales over FFXIII not being an exclusive. The PS3 would still be the system of choice for any true Final Fantasy fan. I see Kingdom Hearts going Wii and Chrono Trigger 2? Well, they are remaking the original for DS, don't be surprised if a Chrono Trigger sequel is made, but I think it would most likely be Wii or DS. I would love to Chrono Trigger 2 on the PS3 though.- KingGoonie, on 07/21/2008, -2/+1Um... actually most TRUE Final Fantasy fans consider FF7 one of the worst games in the series... so it won't swing sales back to PS3 for the TRUE FF fans that have been there from the beginning... only those people who think FF7 was anything more then mediocre because they were Sony zombies that fell for all the hype back in the day.
- Abno, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Because you really know the opinion of "most" FF fans. You know, fans that number in the millions.
- chaosblade77, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Between a FFVI remake and Chrono Trigger 2 (uh...?) I'd definitely be interested in a PS3. (Price drops between now and then please?) Both are more interesting than a FFVII remake.
FFVI was already remade for GBA a while back (more like a port, wasn't it?) so it seems unlikely they'd re-release it so soon. As for Chrono Trigger, I don't know how you could really make a sequel to something like that. It would be really hard to put together something that would live up to Chrono Trigger. I have to agree with EDmAN though, Chrono Trigger 2 would probably end up on the DS (I wouldn't complain though).

- SquareEnix, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Haeresis XIII perhaps?
- somesthetic, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2I do not accept podcasts as sources of information.
- KingGoonie, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1FFIV ON DS THIS WEEK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- kinseyincanada, on 07/21/2008, -1/+3so basically this is just a rumour made up in a digg submission.
- TheWilder, on 07/21/2008, -1/+2Square Enix has been swinging the ball towards Microsoft long before the FFXIII announcement. Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Infinite Undiscovery are already 360 exclusives while The Last Remnant is getting an exclusive 360 launch window.
I'm betting this announcement to be more news on Final Fantasy Versus XIII and the fact that it will remain PS3 exclusive everywhere. A FFVII remake is too far-fetched, especially with the amount of development being put forth in the FFXIII games. - runneroffaith, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1More info on the subject supporting the idea of a FFVII remake:
