  • goldenhearted, on 05/13/2008, -4/+34It's pretty amazing to see this trailer considering that the MGS experience has always been a one of a kind thing due to its "movie-like" quality that while you enjoy the gameplay, watching the cinematics can be quite a sight to behold with its content and engrossing storytelling.

    When I played MGS2 for the first time and the words "The Hudson River, two years ago..." played out, it was a sign to the shape of things to come in a gaming experience.

    Simply, playing a MGS game is like sitting on a couch with your favorite drink in your hand while being comfortable as possible. It's that kind of experience that I'm pretty much glad to go through as a gamer and can't wait for the feeling to happen again when June 12 rolls around.

    • mywhitenoise, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3It's too slow, constant connection problems, the mic is too low, and it's hard to set up, and most of all Konami's online strategy is *****. Instead of using your PSN handle you have to make a Konami code, followed by a Game code, and then a Character name (all have to be different from each other). It's not easy adding friends either, you both have to be logged in while playing the game to add each other. It's worse than a friend code.
      MGO is on the MGS4 disc.

    Is it just me or does every trailer or video of MGS4 seem like the colours are a little 'faded' or washed out? I know the previous games have had the same kinda look but it seems even more so in MGS4.

      The more washed out colors are, the more realistic the game is. For optimal realism 80% of all colors also has to be brown.

Speilberg's hand-held camera style, washed out colors (but emphasizing reds) and overexposed light have basically defined the look of gritty war films and games ever since it came out. Gears of War = Saving Private Ryan.

MGS4 is a great game, but in order to look more graphically filtered to match color saturation in RL, they suck most of the saturation out. You bring up a good point, and I hope that you don't get dugg down for this, but , meh !
      The problem with this technique is that a style should fit the game and it's environment and not it's market competition, ie: Unreal Tournament 3.
      I know that I will be seriously tempted to buy ps3 for this game, nothing else other than Heavenly Sword strikes me a worth playing on that system yet.

    Honestly, from what I can see already the voice talent looks like crap, and looks pretty generic. Crazy guy with maniacal laughter is very cliche.

    Worse color scheme than the Greys of War.

    Probably exact same combat as COD4.

As someone looking to get into the VG industry with a love for both film and video games, he's an inspiration.
