Metal Gear Solid 4 to Punish Ninja Gaiden in Sales?
gameguru.in — It has been clear right form the start that Ninja Gaiden II was not going to be a system seller for Xbox 360, whilst Metal Gear Solid 4 was the biggest PlayStation 3. But it seems Metal Gear is going to have an upper hand in the sales figures upon release.

- donstar, on 05/08/2008, -14/+4metal gear solid is the best game ever and am sure it is going to be up on the xbox 360. I dont know if i will spend money on ninja gaiden 2
- Zamfir, on 05/08/2008, -6/+3Keep dreaming, or smoking the magic herbs...
- truspector, on 05/08/2008, -11/+6MGS is far from the best game ever. I will definitely be getting NG2, I may get MGS4.
- logicalnoise, on 05/08/2008, -3/+6considering the series has dropped in sales with each release as well in review scores I'd say the majority disagree with you.
- eshneel, on 05/09/2008, -8/+0It might come onto the 360 especially with the rumored Blu ray drive in production
- logicalnoise, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1EVen if MS did produce a 360 with internal blu-ray drive it would on;y be for movies not games.
- Virtaaj, on 05/08/2008, -19/+11yeah who cares... Ninja gaiden is a better game anyways... I would rather buy ninja gaiden 2 for the x360...
- Zamfir, on 05/08/2008, -12/+4Someone sounds jealous...
- ilukedukei, on 05/09/2008, -1/+2If I had a 360 I would get ninja gaiden instead... Just sayin
- username9000, on 05/08/2008, -13/+6It better if Sony wants to stay in the fold this generation.
- mywhitenoise, on 05/08/2008, -13/+14I'd get a 360 for Ninja Gaiden 2, but there's no way in hell i'm buy a 360 with all the hardware problems.
There's a better chance of it being ported to PS3, than MGS going to 360. I can't believe people actually think MGS4 will be ported to 360, haha.- username9000, on 05/08/2008, -18/+11I can't believe Sony fanboys still cling to RROD as their only justification against the 360. lmao that ***** was fixed a year ago *****.
- WhereAmI, on 05/08/2008, -7/+11..still?
When 360s stop RRoD the "still" argument can be valid. And no, the Falcon design hasn't "fixed" the problems. Its still less but higher than an acceptable rate.- logicalnoise, on 05/08/2008, -12/+6source? Internet messege boards are not accurate data sources.
- TheRealDj, on 05/08/2008, -7/+4There are plenty of reports that still show a 16 percent failure rate in the falcon models. The original models had a 33 percent failure rate.
- B1663r, on 05/08/2008, -6/+6No... no there are not....
- WhereAmI, on 05/09/2008, -7/+4Yes...yes there are...
- B1663r, on 05/09/2008, -4/+4Well if there are....
Where are the people complaining that their failed Falcon was replaced with an older Xenon xbox??? Answer, they don't exist...
so... No, the falcon models have a standard consumer electronics device failure rate... - AwesomeMonster, on 05/09/2008, -2/+2the 16% talks about the systems on a whole, with the falcon chipset included. In otherwords, once released, the failure rate went down by nearly half. I read that article unlike most of you.
- jacksons98, on 05/09/2008, -2/+4It's not fixed, find one single reputable website saying its fixed. Find a statement from MS saying it's fixed. You won't and you can't because it's not fixed. Just goto any user review site and there are plenty of reviews of people even with practically brand new X360s getting the RROD.
Of course you probably said it was fixed with Xclamps, then the bigger heatsink, then elite, then the HDMI mobo, then Halo, now you are trying to say the Falcon chipset is fixing it.
- WhereAmI, on 05/08/2008, -7/+11..still?
- MouseCircus, on 05/08/2008, -6/+7A higher chance of being ported? NGII is published by Microsoft.
I'd say equal chance. Meaning no.- mywhitenoise, on 05/08/2008, -4/+4Didn't know that. Oh well.
- truspector, on 05/08/2008, -13/+6Seriously mywhitenoise, you need to drop that *****. I understand you have an allegiance to Sony, but the newer model 360s have a failure rate nowhere near the first few batches. I'm sorry you're going to miss out on NG2, I feel for you. If you had a 360 right now you could play GTA4 online with more than 4 or 5 people.
- mywhitenoise, on 05/08/2008, -6/+9I don't have an allegiance towards Sony, I hate the company. Just because I like my PS3, doesn't mean I like Sony. The 360 isn't fixed, and it still has a ***** of problems. It's still loud as hell, it still overheats, it still has a ridiculously large power brick, it still has DVD drive issues, and it still gets the RROD. I can't justify buying one game for a 360 with all the hardware risks involved. I have a PS3, i'm buying a new Mac soon (that covers the PC gaming...which is 90% of the 360 "exclusives"). That's not to say the PS3 doesn't have it's problems, seems like more and more people are getting the Disc Read Error, and I hope it gets addressed by Sony soon.
And what the ***** is that comment about GTAIV? I haven't even attempted to play online yet because 1. I'm not much of an online gamer, and 2. I'm too busy playing the hell out of the single player game.- username9000, on 05/08/2008, -12/+6A mac? You have ruined any credibility you may have had (not that you had any) with that comment. Now that is some funny *****.
- mywhitenoise, on 05/08/2008, -5/+8Why? I can boot up Windows to play PC games, boot up MacOSX for everything else.
- AwesomeMonster, on 05/09/2008, -6/+1Emulating windows to run games off it is about the silliest thing you could do. Flimsy is an understatement for how it would run.
- JayD16, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5Did he say emulate? No. He said dual boot...
- AwesomeMonster, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1which is emulating windows, you dumbass.
- truspector, on 05/08/2008, -11/+6It isn't still "loud as hell", even the first gen, which I have, weren't "loud as hell". The newer units actually have a very quiet DVD drive.
Again, the newer units don't overheat nearly as often as the old ones, as the die size on GPU/CPU has shrunk considerably.
Who cares if the power brick is on the floor or in the system? Mine is hidden behind my desk, on the floor, with little room to breath and I haven't had a problem with it since launch.
A can't even believe a Sony fan is bringing up optical drive issues. The PS2 was plagued with them and the PS3 has seen it's share as well.
Read point two again, it applies to RROD as well.
You hate MS, i get it, but I honestly wish you could drop your allegiance to one company and realize you can have them both and open yourself up to a new world of games. Have fun with those titles on the PC as well. Gears is a bugfest on the PC, then you have titles like Bioshock and Mass Effect with some of the most ridiculous copy protection schemes I have ever seen.- mywhitenoise, on 05/08/2008, -6/+6I see you didn't read a damn word in my last reply. I mentioned Sony has disc read errors, and needs to acknowledge it.
I do hate Microsoft, and Sony, doesn't mean I can't like Playstation. "open yourself up to a new world of games"....what ***** games? Almost everything on 360 can either be found on PS3 or PC. - truspector, on 05/08/2008, -8/+3I read every word of it and what I saw is you making baseless claims about a system that you don't own and you have even admitted that you would never purchase it.
- xTRUMANx, on 05/09/2008, -1/+4You don't have to own a system to know a system.
- JayD16, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5See, this is where I have to ask some personal questions of truspector. Its pretty clear you've had a 360 since close to launch and yet you seem to know all the details of every single model (not specs but things like loudness).
Do you just buy a 360 every 6 months or does M$ have to keep sending you one?
Its one of those, or you're just repeating what you've read... - kingmanic, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1JayD16: It seems he's a paid shill. MS just writes him a new script every once in a while.
- mywhitenoise, on 05/08/2008, -6/+6I see you didn't read a damn word in my last reply. I mentioned Sony has disc read errors, and needs to acknowledge it.

- Tahiri, on 05/09/2008, -1/+8PS3 has not seen it's share of hardware failures. It's literally less than 2%. 360 is above 33%, that's a huge difference. And yes, 360 is still loud as hell. And truspector has no right to claim someone has an allegiance to a company given his history of BS anti-ps3/pro-360 fanbabble
- jacksons98, on 05/09/2008, -2/+2@Whitenoise
You should just go pick up Ninja Gaiden Sigma for PS3, it's probably a better game than this is going to be anyway. From what I've seen Ninja Gaiden 2 looks just about the same in terms of graphics and gameplay. NG2 does have more excessive gore, but that's not really a selling point. Sigma is based off the classic and is half the price as well.
- username9000, on 05/08/2008, -18/+11I can't believe Sony fanboys still cling to RROD as their only justification against the 360. lmao that ***** was fixed a year ago *****.
- truspector, on 05/08/2008, -12/+7Possible, but Gears 2 is going to blow them both off the map.
- mattyice11, on 05/08/2008, -3/+7Sales-wise it will, but the other two games will both be better. And I was a big fan of the first Gears.
- truspector, on 05/08/2008, -9/+5Sales are a tangible measurable thing. Which is better is open to conjecture and is completely an opinion.
- Varz, on 05/09/2008, -1/+2I think you're get dugg down just because people know you, what you say is true.

- jesushitler, on 05/08/2008, -11/+7I'm getting both, but I'm much more excited for NG2. After hearing of half hour cutscenes in MGS4, my excitement dropped quite a bit.
- truspector, on 05/08/2008, -9/+4Half hour cutscense?!?! Are you exaggerating?
- blackhole82, on 05/08/2008, -1/+2They are both going to be great games.
- logicalnoise, on 05/08/2008, -4/+9I'd pin God of war 3 as a more likely system seller than MGS4.
- Varz, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2Yeah I don't know if this is a global thing but were I live no-one really talks about MGS, it just doesn't seem to get the attention other big titles get, like God of War, Gran Turismo etc.
- AwesomeMonster, on 05/09/2008, -2/+7In other news, the sky is blue. Seriously. No ***** NG2 isn't going to sell as well as a well established franchise. The game may be great but it simply doesn't have the following of MGS. This is about as worthless as stating that smash brothers will outsell rayman raving rabbids.
- navster15, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1Don't forget that Ninja Gaiden has a reputation of being incredibly difficult. I'm sure that's a huge reason why a lot of people won't give it a try. On the Xbox version, I couldn't even finish the first level without getting frustrated, so why would I consider buying this one?
- jimmick, on 05/09/2008, -3/+2Everything about this article reeks of fanboy console bashing
These are two very prominent figures in their field, but they are very different games as far as genre is concerned and the are in no way going to affect each other's sales.
Apples and oranges.
Also what's with the competitive undertones? We're talking about sales figures, why should anyone care how much money THEY make.
By the way I'm white enough to afford both - y2tattle, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2It's a survey from 154 people.. I don't think you should be taking any knowledge away from such a small sample of people
