- mywhitenoise, on 04/16/2008, -9/+35Are you ***** stupid!? This has nothing to do with Sony. In case you haven't noticed before, EVERY other online game is fine with using PS3's unified online system. You own a PS3, you should know this.
- mywhitenoise, on 04/16/2008, -3/+28It's about as retarded. You need your PSN ID, followed by a Konami ID, and then a game ID (which can't be the same as the Konami ID)...I just tried registering and said "***** this". I'm not dealing with multiple accounts and usernames.
- santasing, on 04/16/2008, -25/+47I created this thread so truspector and wageslaven and come in here shag each other. As far as their arguments about openness go, tell me why XBox does not have UT3 yet. Coz MS, the old grizzled idiots that they are can't give up control. Why is it such a hassle to get back my content if my XBox craps out on me, if ever I do get it back? Because, MS's implementation is just like Internet Explorer. First to market and just bad enough that people won't leave in droves.
Its a Konami implementation. And that's that. These idiots just found a negative story about a game on the PS3 and just couldn't keep their drool to themselves. Quoting random blog posts and what not.
Dude, get it through your thick heads. Noone is going to buy the XBox or the PS3 based on what you say. People make up their own minds. So, please go away.
Millions of people already say they like the PS3 and what it does. Deal with it. MGS is big. I would still get into the beta even if I had to sign up 10 id's. Just like people who like Halo still play it despite the fact that it is basically a rehashed POS, and despite the fact that the Live service has been down for about 1.5 months in the last year.
Oh BTW, I am going to buy that MGS headset also. Does that get your panties in a bunch? And I am buying the gun metal PS3 also. How about now? Enjoying your Halo doll much?
Got to get back to work now. - WhereAmI, on 04/16/2008, -5/+23No wageslaven; We're all tired of your inaccuracies and want you to go away.
This has nothing to do with PSN other than giving game publishers the freedom to do what they want, which is what happened here, and Konami screwed it up. - kinseyincanada, on 04/16/2008, -6/+22OK fanboys on both sides just shut up, this has nothing to do with Sony, Microsoft, Halo or Crackdown, all Konami wants is your email and stuff so then can send you more crap, if you want the beta, i know i would if i had a PS3, then sign up. If you dont want to go through the hassle of signing uo then you probably don't want the beta that badly and can live without it.
If i had the money for all 3 systems i would get them in a second as of now all i have is a Wii and a 360, and im happy with both. Also why the hate on Crackdown? Its a great game, i bought solely for the Halo 3 beta but was more impressed by the game itself. And yes Halo 3 is overrated but by no means is it a ***** game at all, its by far my favorite game to play online after COD4. And to the 360 fanboys the PS3 has amazing games, R&C, Uncharted, Warhawk all look amazing so in the ens any real game lover would want all systems. - djSyndrome, on 04/16/2008, -2/+18Konami IDs have been around since the initial 3000-person Japanese MGO beta last year; they're just now becoming available to us in the West. Considering Konami wants you to register and buy a separate card before they let you get most of the features out of their arcade games (via e-Amuse), this step is hardly surprising.
Not saying Sony should have let them get away with this, but it's Konami's current MO to do this sort of thing. - truspector, on 04/16/2008, -2/+18Can he not be both? The two usually go hand in hand.
- santasing, on 04/16/2008, -13/+28Dude, take a deep breath and l i s t e n. The online part was built by Konami. How come Warhawk uses PSN ID for online play, UT3, COD4 everything else is fine. Its a Konami decision. Maybe they didn't want to release the beta to everyone. Maybe they wanted to track usage on their servers outside of Sony, who knows.
You just constructed a straw man argument and are running with it. Again, at least I don't have to buy a crappy game like Crackdown to get into the Halo3 beta. That was just plain good old robbery, MS style. And you will get rap**d by MS coz you are a frothing at the mouth fanboy who's upset that all those "rumors" about MGS coming to XBox are not coming true. :-D
Just think to yourself, would you be saying all this if MGS was on XBox also. You have 0 credibility on Digg. And I got time on my hands today. - coheedcollapse, on 04/16/2008, -3/+18Screw Konami for doing this. The name that I've used in every game since the beginning of time is already taken.
Edit: Actually, I somehow was already registered in the system. What the hell? - mywhitenoise, on 04/16/2008, -2/+16I hope it's just for the beta, and not the final release.
- mywhitenoise, on 04/16/2008, -8/+22shut the ***** up already.
- djSyndrome, on 04/16/2008, -4/+18Jesus Christ, I can't tell if you're really racist or just plain retarded.
- santasing, on 04/16/2008, -7/+20Yea...this moron knows all about the PSN implementation. probably works at a McDonalds too.
Dude, send those links to devs who made Uncharted or COD4. - mywhitenoise, on 04/16/2008, -5/+18Wageslaven works for Microsoft.
- blackrave, on 04/16/2008, -1/+14You don't know how emulators work, and you don't have a $300 computer three times more powerful than any console.
- Sedako, on 04/16/2008, -5/+17No, just Konami.
- WhereAmI, on 04/16/2008, -5/+17We've proved you both wrong. Many times. You didn't go away.
- WhereAmI, on 04/16/2008, -6/+17"Allows developers to get away with this *****"
..its called developer freedom, they can do what they want even if it is annoying. Its a good thing. This is why UT3 has mod support and keyboard/mouse support on the PS3 and why the 360 won't get it (regardless of your feelings towards the game). Developer. Freedom. - santasing, on 04/16/2008, -3/+14Konami ID is needed not just for spamming us. It provides a unified service across Konami branded games. Just thought I should mention it.
Not that its not crappy. I don't want 3 freaking ID's. - WhereAmI, on 04/16/2008, -4/+14Truspector, you know I have both. PSN is not bad. If the thing ever gets in game XMB they will be near equal, the only thing I'm not sure how they will get is a message that says "truspector wants to play a game with you: accept, reject" via the XMB, but they already do that inside the games, like CoD4. And no, truspector has never played Warhawk. Don't lie, Warhawk would have told me so. And playing at a friends house in unbelievable because you don't have friends (but seriously you are a gamerscore whore (40k) and I don't see you ever playing a game without signing in on /your/ account)
- geartype2, on 04/16/2008, -0/+10please list the specs of this wonder machine. I'm quite curious.
- Icupnimpn2, on 04/16/2008, -1/+11The greatest problem that I see with this situation is that you could try to create a game ID to match your PSN id and find out that someone else has already registered it. So, when your friends are trying to find you in-game, they find some other schmuck instead.
- djSyndrome, on 04/16/2008, -2/+12It's fine enough for being free, just as XBLA is worth the four bucks a month. As with anything else in life, you get what you pay for.
I don't understand why people still argue about this :( - saucygitaristak, on 04/16/2008, -0/+9*AHEM*fills up 50 gb bluray
- Cerebral, on 04/16/2008, -3/+12I have a 360 and I CAN say that I have yet to hear of the PSN being down over a holiday break or for a couple days after a patch or weeks after the newest *hot* game is released.
I would still like some compensation for that downtime. I'm sorry but the 400 point game (I can't even remember what it was now) didn't make the fact that I used vacation days over the holiday so I could play my new stuff I got on Christmas. Not only that but my Gamertag and my buddy's gamertag both got stuck in limbo at relatives' houses because we couldn't download it to the relative's machine and when we both got back we could not sign in on our boxes because it said it WAS recovered somewhere else... *****. FIX XBOX LIVE AND LET'S GET SOME DEDICATED SERVERS IN THERE FOR MORE POPULAR GAMES TO GET RID OF HOST ADVANTAGES! - MewTwo, on 04/16/2008, -4/+13I personally am annoyed. Why do you guys care so ***** much about ***** on Sony? Why can't you take the pros and cons of each console and live with it? It's so ***** annoying to see all of your energy wasted with arguing on these threads... it's bitter and mean. Just take a second and really think about what you're defending.
I just don't understand how this competition got so out of hand with you two. - santasing, on 04/16/2008, -9/+17The headline says Konami messed up. Its a beta. Its meant to identify problems. That's what they are doing.
At least they are not forcing people to buy the *****-up that was Crackdown to be able to get into a Halo 3 beta. - terminalpariah, on 04/16/2008, -9/+17Crackdown was awesome. You're stupid.
- santasing, on 04/16/2008, -3/+11You do know that the Konami code is only for the Beta.
- mattyice11, on 04/16/2008, -2/+9You are definitely wrong about that. Major has said in the past that he owns a Wii and PS3...even talks about them on the podcast in a complimentary way.
- Aitese, on 04/16/2008, -1/+8Konami are not the only ones who do this...I needed a separate ID for EA's Fifa 08. Then when I saw the on-line league tables that combined players from the PS3, 360 and PC it made sense. The ID could also be used in Madden, NBA Live and the other sports sims. In those cases, where the games would be ported it made sense. In a game that is a Playstation exclusive, it's just dumb.
- WhereAmI, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7No its been proven that they don't go away. See, here we are ignoring them and just telling them to stfu and they keep saying prove us wrong which if we did makes us more into their traps but if we don't a new comer see's that and says well wtf why didn't they prove them wrong? The truth is new comer (not you DarkDx but YOU) that wageslaven and truspector don't go away and we don't feel like proving their points wrong again.
- Ajajadude, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7Yeah, I'm sure he's a real big fanboy like you and truespector and only gets off on the thought of his 360. If I had the time (and the money for all the games), I'd have both my 360 and PS3 up next to my tv with both getting a good deal of playing time.
- RyanWilliams, on 04/16/2008, -3/+9You have to register for an EA account in both the PS3 *and* Xbox 360 versions of Burnout Paradise. This kind of thing isn't exclusive to the PS3, nor is it a fault of either console manufacturer's online system. This is strictly publishers being dicks by trying to layer their own registration/marketing systems over the top of what is a perfectly adequate console-wide system.
Are Xbox 360 owners getting more fanboyish these days or is it just me? - diggrim, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7I don't think Sony had a choice, they need to keep Konami happy. I hope the final release doesn't require this junk.
- Asianwaste, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5This sounds like Squaresoft's old PlayOnline system. One ID to sign on PlayOnline, then a user name for PlayOnline again, then you can play FFXI.... which is the only game they have on the whole system. Steam it is not.
- Cerebral, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5I guess your argument hits the nail on the head as to why Microsoft is the way they are with XBL. Sony takes the stance that you can do what you want with your game online whereas MS says you have to play by their rules. That has always been the "what if" as far as Sony online gaming because if Konami wants to charge $5/mo. for MGS play and then IW decided to charge $5/mo. for COD4 play then you'd have to pay $10/mo. to be able to play those games online etc. This is no secret NOR new news. This is the way it was when the PS2 came out and the way it will stay.
- santasing, on 04/16/2008, -13/+18Here we go again.
Sony's online service is just fine. It does not stay down for a month like Live. Ever played Warhawk? Its a KONAMI ID. Hence, its a Konami thing. How gard is that? Take off that stupid master chief helmet, get some oxygen and think.
On the other hand, you have a master chief helmet. I bet you have a ton of fun wearing that helmet, pretending your are Master C, saving the world, all the time wearing your power glove. LOL. South Park should do a bit about you douchebags. - saucygitaristak, on 04/16/2008, -2/+7Don't hate him guys, it's not his fault he's retarded
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -14/+19I don't see how this is sillier than friend codes. You don't use numbers as your ID, and you're not forbidden from using basic communication.
- slightlygifted, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5why not just use the existing unified service psn? what happens when you need a seperate id for games from ea , epic , activision, etc.
- slightlygifted, on 04/16/2008, -1/+6whats the point of this if psn is already in place?
- hater2win, on 04/16/2008, -2/+6I digg you up for having valid points, no matter how sensationalized they are (only slightly).
I am not sure that they are having trouble keeping up, so much as they just haven't taken advantage of what can be done yet. As it stands, 90% of the games for PS3 run fine with the exception of a few 360 to PS3 ports like the EA games. For the most part though, I haven't see too many devs complaining they are having a hard time matching the 360 performance with the PS3.
You do have valid points about the memory allocations, but I think that it is all just a little bit overblown and sensationalized. We will only be able to tell with a little bit more time. Hopefully the devs can do it so that PSN users can have a good experience with cross game invites and in game XMB like xbox users have enjoyed. It is a fantastic system (xbox live is) and hopefully sony can get the PS3 working in a similar way, if not better. - ChanM, on 04/16/2008, -3/+7dugg for mentioning Halo being a rehash.... Cause it really is..... nothing innovative in that series.... really COD4 > Halo 3.
- nobelief, on 04/16/2008, -6/+10Because not a lot of people give a ***** about UT3?
Gears of War 2 late '08 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> UT3 whenever - FriedTurkey, on 04/16/2008, -2/+6I think I digg too much. I just recognized your name as one of the Xbox fanboys that posts all the time.
- santasing, on 04/16/2008, -10/+14Dude....S H U T U P !
I played Crackdown, and trust me, it isn't something I would buy.
So, first it was no games, too expensive, vgchartz....now you start throwing out review scores. FYI, Halo3 got awesome scores and we all know how that turned out. It sold tons, but it was nothing that couldn't have been done 5 years ago.
I prefer to play a game and make my mind up for myself. - theaceoffire, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4It is so large they had to REMOVE all Japanese audio from the American disc.
- RyanWilliams, on 04/16/2008, -1/+5It annoys me when publishers do things like this.
Burnout Paradise has a similar annoyance in that not only do you obviously need a PSN account to play online, but you also need to register an EA account. Granted, you may very well already have one, but in the case of my family members who also wanted to play it was just an added extra step.
Even more annoying is that my sister was told she couldn't register an EA account because of the age set when the PSN account was created. Total joke. - djSyndrome, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3Have fun playing Doom on that wonderPC.
No, not Doom 3. The first one. -
