- jayll, on 04/18/2009, -8/+57Waiting for Modern Warfare 2!
- Binarysolo, on 04/17/2009, -30/+79Took over 6 weeks to get to a million and they're thrilled? Come on. They have to be disappointed. Tons of money went into that game.
This would be awesome sales for any game other than a huge AAA release like Killzone 2. If Gears 2 sold this bad you know the Sony fans would call it out. Its not about bias its just the facts. This game is a disappointment not the bar all shooters should be judged by like it was billed. - Kenelm, on 04/17/2009, -22/+60Approximately 1 in every 5 Xbox 360 titles achieve Metacritic scores of 80 or higher.
There are 605 Xbox 360 games listed on Metacritic, and 318 PS3 games.
Therefore, there are 121 quality games on Xbox 360, and 106 quality games on PS3.
Your math is wrong. Just sayin'. - arunforce, on 04/18/2009, -1/+37http://digg.com/playstation/Killzone_2_one_million ...
Also I remember something about KillZone 2 having 1.1 million pre-orders in Europe... I'm confused. - readme, on 04/18/2009, -8/+42People who follow game sales more than they actually play games are the worst kind of scum on the internet.
- melodeath666, on 04/18/2009, -16/+48well i like killzone 2 and as long as there are a million people to play with online i am happy. STFU
- InorganicMatter, on 04/18/2009, -25/+56Six weeks to get a paltry 1 million? Seriously, you guys are excited about that? Halo 3 did that in 20 hours. Gears 2 sold 2 million in the first week. Left 4 Dead sold 629,000 copies in December alone, and that doesn't include PC sales on Steam!
I'd be excited if this hit TEN million in six weeks. But ONE million? Yaaaaawn. - Chooxo, on 04/18/2009, -5/+36"It looks like Sony has some good news to share with fans of their popular, Killzone 2"
What, it's not like I made any money from it. - zdiddy85, on 04/17/2009, -7/+37I knew as soon as I came in here there would be some fanboy, either MS or Sony, defending their console.
Get over yourself, you don't need to defend any purchase you made. - Chooxo, on 04/18/2009, -5/+28"Crawl"
- Chooxo, on 04/18/2009, -7/+30"I'd be excited if this hit TEN million in six weeks."
No amount of game sales would excite me, but whatever rocks your boat. - rankftw, on 04/18/2009, -3/+23love this game, probably the best multiplayer game on ps3 tbh
- tyrulz, on 04/18/2009, -22/+41I'll probly get dugg down for this but I thought killzone 2 was boring as *****.
- Binarysolo, on 04/18/2009, -14/+32Very original but you're incorrect. I'm not a one console owning brand worshiper and you don't have to be to form an opinion that dares to challenge Sony or MS.
I own all current generation consoles because I want access to everything. I don't have a reason for bias. I've played Killzone 2 and its a decent shooter it just doesn't live up to Sony's hype and espcially all the fanboy hype. No matter how much you defend it out of some corporate team pride these sales are a failure for any intended blockbuster game. - johnsmith3210, on 04/18/2009, -4/+22...in the USA.
- inactive, on 04/18/2009, -10/+26When your whole world is grey a single flower is an event worth celebrating.
- blapierre, on 04/18/2009, -8/+22You need a verb in that headline.
- jgtg32a, on 04/18/2009, -0/+13Only at the apple store.
- bbliss17, on 04/18/2009, -5/+17Big deal?
In other news:
Wii fit passes 18 million
Mario Kart his 15.5 million
Wii play is close to 23 million
New Super Mario Bros hits 18.5 million
killzone gets 1 million and people get a boner of it. - blapierre, on 04/18/2009, -4/+15Why would anyone who's not making money off the sale of a game be excited about how many copies a game has sold?
- NathanCH, on 04/18/2009, -1/+12Also, I remember looking at game sales charts from February and there were 365,000 sold in the US in just two days (since it came out on the 26th). That didn't include Europe.
- Narishma, on 04/18/2009, -1/+9Games are not like movies. There are a lot of things about a game that you won't know until you played it for a long time. Things like balance for example. You can certainly make an opinion on those things even if you don't play the game but that opinion won't be valid because it will be based on insufficient or inaccurate information.
- n0t0kayipr0mis3, on 04/18/2009, -5/+13I think the online play is brilliant but the menus can be a bit confusing. One thing that really disappointed me was the lack of split-screen multiplayer. It was my favorite thing about the last killzone, it's almost as annoying as the tiny split screens on COD5
- PandaBearShenyu, on 04/18/2009, -5/+13This is good news, Killzone 2 really deserves it.
- phpirate, on 04/18/2009, -13/+21FACT:
Nobody except fanboys give a ***** about game sales. - spacebuddy, on 04/18/2009, -4/+11I don't care, the game is just awesome.
- LordofChaosIori, on 04/18/2009, -2/+9I take it you've never been on /b/.
- NathanCH, on 04/18/2009, -5/+12...and because it's been out for an extra year.
- sparql, on 04/18/2009, -5/+12I own a PS3, but have yet to buy Killzone 2. But I do have a question. Why should someone have to invest a large amount of time in a game before they can form an opinion? If the first half of a movie sucks, it's unlikely the second half is so good that it will win you over.
If a game is well developed you should be able to form an opinion in the first 2 hours of play. - deculture, on 04/19/2009, -4/+10Which means everyone commenting on this article about game sales is a fanboy! Including you! :)
- abrasion, on 04/18/2009, -1/+7What if the first half of the movie rocks and the second half sucks?
(From Dusk Till Dawn) - KielKilla, on 04/18/2009, -3/+8The online is BRILLIANT in my opinion. Just the little things... you can tell they spent a lot of time with this. The single player is pretty good too but no where near online.
- Narishma, on 04/18/2009, -1/+6If by most you mean half then yes.
- inactive, on 04/18/2009, -8/+13jjamminjon, that is probably the worst train of thought i have ever seen. even mac users don't delude themselves THAT badly.
- Narishma, on 04/18/2009, -3/+8People who liked the game should be excited because if it sold that much there's a good chance they'll make a sequel.
- maqikelefant, on 04/18/2009, -3/+8Seconded. I don't think I've ever been so frustrated by any other single game in my life. And I know I've never seen enemies be so unaffected by gunfire in any other game.
- Schmidtopolis, on 04/18/2009, -1/+6I really want to relate that comment to Mos Eisley for nerd posterity.
- slicecom, on 04/18/2009, -2/+6Online play.
- liquidxtension1, on 04/19/2009, -5/+9To everyone who thinks 1 million sales isnt great-i'm sorry you guys are retarded. For a franchise that had such a bad start (Killzone 1) i'm suprised its sequel had such a great start. Yes Gears 2 sold twice that much in a week, Halo 3 soared in sales...but Killzone had nothing to support it and its doing might fine well. It would've done probably even better if Sony knew how to market their damn games but no. Still 1 million for almost any game in 6 weeks is damn good. I'm enjoying the hell out of it.
Of course when your on digg, opinions like mine doesnt matter. I'll see you guys in the digg cemetery. - ray86, on 04/19/2009, -1/+5Because the game is the best online shooter in multiplayer. Single player is pretty average.
- soundsofreason, on 04/17/2009, -55/+59"approximately 1 in every 3 PS3 titles achieve Metacritic scores of 80 or higher"
Quality over quantity. That is why I went with a PS3. - KielKilla, on 04/18/2009, -2/+6I didn't enjoy the demo either but once I got the game I loved it. Completely replaced Call Of Duty for me.
- inactive, on 04/20/2009, -0/+3SAILS PAST.... or SALES PASS
NOT BOTH. - brathbun, on 04/19/2009, -1/+4Good point out.
- sparql, on 04/19/2009, -1/+4You make a legitimate point. But if you make a game that someone has to play for 10+ hours before it gets good, you've failed as a game developer. A good game is equally good to new players and veteran players alike.
- jgtg32a, on 04/18/2009, -4/+7Yeah, I was a bit confused about this article it seemed like the game came out a while ago.
Also from the Crysis Wikipedia article it seems that both KZ2 and Crysis are more or less selling at the same rate. When you take that into consideration KZ2 is doing very poorly because
1) PC games never hit the ultra high numbers console games put out
2) How many machines could actually run Crysis when it was released. - Kenelm, on 04/18/2009, -5/+8He accidentally the verb.
- abrasion, on 04/19/2009, -3/+6360 fanboys in this thread, don't like my opinion! news at 11.
- maqikelefant, on 04/18/2009, -2/+5Nah. Only rich people can afford a saleboat.
- LivingReceiver, on 04/19/2009, -1/+3I dont know. When i played it the objectives brought back a flush of nostalgia from the WW2 paratrooper games like Medal Of Honour and the original Cod and such. The thing that pisses me off is respawning enemies, kills like everything tbh.
