- charlescheese, on 11/15/2007, -3/+52Eurogamer gave it a 9/10 as well and gushed about the game, and they are usually pretty hard on PS3 games.
Some quotes:
"Truly, Uncharted is the first game I've seen to date that makes me wonder if it could be done on the Xbox 360, and as a huge admirer of the software line-up on Microsoft's system, that's saying a lot."
"Borrowing from all the best equivalents of recent years, it plumps for an 'aim and fire' approach which feels somewhere between Resident Evil 4, GRAW and Gears of War, albeit slicker and with a far greater control over your character than all of them."
"As much as Gears of War provided a stunning next-generation shooter setting, the moody greys and browns made it a harsh, dark, hostile, and monochromatic place to be. In Uncharted, it's not just superior to Gears in terms of out and out detail, but brings a feel-good factor with the sheer level of environmental variety on offer. Covering the full spectrum from 'destroyed beauty' to lush, tropical jungles (and all points in between), it has the kind of action adventure template that Eidos and Crystal Dynamics must be looking at with a great deal of envy right now." - codelogic, on 11/15/2007, -1/+40I inadvertently linked to page 2 of the review. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/834/834931p1.html - charlescheese, on 11/15/2007, -6/+44The video review starts out, "BUY THIS GAME".
I agree. This is the most excited I've been about a game in a long time. The demo was just so amazing. I went from being guarded about this game, and unsure if I'd even buy it, to completely sold after playing it for five minutes. I've played through the demo about six times on various difficulties, and the game is about as perfect as can be done this gen. Not only that, but the setting and style is so original. The game feels so damn fresh. Man I can't wait to pick this up. - xOpifex, on 11/15/2007, -2/+36This seems like an honest review for once, not the usual "zomg 10/10 this is so amazing keke" that we have been getting for a lot of other games.
- Nico_, on 11/15/2007, -6/+37Uncharted is great fun! What a great line up we have this winter! R&C, Assassins Creed, Uncharted and COD4. And I cant wait for MGS4, MGS online, GOW3, GTA4, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy, Little Big Planet, GT5, Killzone2 and White Knight Story.
With the divx support confirmed and the upnp server already working I'm loving my PS3 right now! - Hickeroar, on 11/14/2007, -2/+30it's a PS3 only game. Good luck downloading that.
- EDmAN, on 11/15/2007, -4/+28First off, his comments about all the Sony let downs. It is true some of these games have been let downs, but let's not forget Rachet & Clank. They gave it a 9.4 and the game was great! I played it through twice.
I think this is a fair review for this game. A 9.1 may not be the highest score in the world, but I played the demo, had a lot of fun, but could see the game had room for improvement. I will be picking this up right after I finish Super Mario Galaxy. One game at a time or I will never beat them all... I will save some for the drought mid next year - charlescheese, on 11/14/2007, -3/+26Holy *****, you are trolling Uncharted big time. How many times are you going to post that same comment in this thread? What, does this game threaten your adolescent maleness? Grow up.
- directive0, on 11/14/2007, -3/+20You should stop reading it then.
- charlescheese, on 11/14/2007, -4/+21Have you played the game? The setting is 10x more organic and alive feeling than ANY Tomb Raider game. You pan the camera around and you really FEEL like you're in a living breathing world. It's unlike any game I've ever played. Nothing has made me feel as much like I was playing in a real, alive world like this game. Nothing comes close in my book. And I'm not dishing on Tomb Raider, those are good games, but they are in no way in the same league as Uncharted.
- charlescheese, on 11/14/2007, -1/+17JohnyD, Go read the Eurogamer review if you want more proof that the AI in this game is top of the line. If you can't be bothered to try the demo out (which if you had a PS3 I'm sure you would have done) then stop opening your mouth and making a fool of yourself.
- Hickeroar, on 11/14/2007, -1/+16LOL you're complaining that a single shot didn't kill an enemy? Welcome to almost every game ever played.
- 1nedown, on 11/14/2007, -3/+18Why do I get the feeling that you have never played the demo?
- charlescheese, on 11/14/2007, -5/+19I don't agree. I think with Uncharted and the games coming out through December we have the dawn of a new day on PS3. I think there are plenty of top tier games for even the most obnoxious fanboys.
1. Uncharted
2. Ratchet and Clank
3. Heavenly Sword
4. Resistance FOM
5. Rainbow Six Vegas
6. Oblivion
7. Warhawk
8. COD4
9. EOJ
10. Motorstorm
11. Assassin's Creed
12. GH3
13. Rock Band
14. Orange Box
15. Unreal Tournament 3
16. Ninja Gaiden Sigma
17. Haze
18. Virtua Fighter 5
19. Folklore
The list goes on. Honestly if you can't find a bunch of games in there to play, then you're nuts. On top of that, most of the games on the 360 that are exclusives I can play on PC, or will be able to play on my PC. I'm not ***** all over the 360 either, I will own one some day. I'm just saying, the PS3 has plenty of top tier games, and a lot of top tier exclusives coming next year. No games is no longer a valid reason for not buying a PS3. - charlescheese, on 11/14/2007, -3/+16Yay, you didn't play the demo and have no clue what you're talking about. Tomb Raider this is not. It's closer to Gears than Tomb Raider, but truthfully it's something all its own. You should try games before sounding like an ass who has no clue what he's talking about.
- shinythingy, on 11/14/2007, -3/+16Does not being ale to reply properly threaten yours?
Seriously ***** off, your opinions are not fact quit trying to pass them off as such - charlescheese, on 11/14/2007, -6/+19Does PS3 threaten your entire existence or what?
- charlescheese, on 11/14/2007, -1/+13So when you think of the 360's lineup you don't include multiplatform games? That must hurt when most exclusives on the 360 can be played by me on my PC without owning a 360. That leaves you with...what...halo and mass effect for aaa titles, and I bet I'll be able to play those on my PC next year.
I think the whole, but you can play those on the 360 too argument is crap. I've bought several multiplatform titles on PS3 and they were all very good. The differences are minor, and I guarantee you in the future that PS3 games will start looking better than 360 as developers improve their PS3 engines to use more of the PS3's power. We know for a fact that they're using very little of the cell's power, so things will only improve quality wise as more developers hone their PS3 skills. Either way, over half my list is exclusive to PS3, and the exclusives coming to PS3 next year are not to be trifled with. Those are the real big guns, FF, MGS, LBP, WKS etc. Those will sell a lot of PS3's. - Hickeroar, on 11/14/2007, -4/+13The demo is 20 minutes of gameplay 3 chapters into the game. Obviously IGN wasn't reviewing the demo here.
- directive0, on 11/14/2007, -2/+11The more cool stuff that comes out for ps3, the more attractive the thought of plunking down the cash for one becomes.
- acurism, on 11/15/2007, -0/+7Obviously, I haven't played the full version as it is not out yet, but the demo was Amazing!
Naughty Dog did a great job, looking forward to picking it up when it is released. - ibeetle, on 11/14/2007, -2/+9I did not completely scratch it off... just moved it to the wait for "used" or "greatest hits" price.
40 bucks in todays world of 60 dollar games sounds about right. - djSyndrome, on 11/14/2007, -1/+8Cheaper? All of the multiplatform games are the same price on both consoles, with the exception of VF5, which is $20 cheaper on the PS3 (because of age and no online play).
- OrcGolo, on 11/15/2007, -4/+11I wasn't sold on this game until I downloaded the demo. Easy control scheme, taking cover was definitely fun in the game. I have terrible aim, but was able to get by the game just fine. Nice graphics, I haven't played a game where you run into a waterfall and actually get WET. But then again, this is my first next gen console... I am now convinced on picking this game up this week for sure.
- TopSlacker, on 11/14/2007, -4/+11Yup, will be the best FPS of the year...
Or if that's not your thing there is always FF XII, MGS4, LittleBigPlanet or do you just not like anything not made by your Microsoft overlords? - triplehelix, on 11/14/2007, -2/+9no need to wait, there are enough good games out right now.
- pandasonic, on 11/14/2007, -3/+10Seriously, play the demo/game, then comment.
Sure I have a 360 and a PS3 and most of the time you'll find me on the 360, but this game seems damn nice to me. I played the demo and I liked it a lot, enough that I'm getting it from day 1 and will probably stop using my 360 for a while (not taking into consideration the fact that my 360 seems to be giving early warnings of "dude, you're gonna have to ship me back to MS for the third time 'cause MS doesn't know how to engineer ***** right"). - OrcGolo, on 11/14/2007, -0/+6I was in the same boat at first, but once you download the demo you'll be surprised it's really different.
- Ohidjwae, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6I was intrigued by this game and then, like others, hooked after I played the demo. I'll likely be picking it up after Christmas (c'mon Best Buy gift cards!) The animation and environments alone make the game worth playing. Not to mention the sharp controls and gameplay.
- shinythingy, on 11/14/2007, -2/+8And what would make me buy a 360?
Bioshock, Gears and no doubt HALO 3 are going to be out on the PC - inactive, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6I jsut bought my PS3 and i cant keep up, it really sucks.
- ZenMojo, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6Christmas season. I hate the gaming industry for that.
- charlescheese, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6Seems like it grabs most people right away, but to be honest you're not the first person I've heard say they weren't sold on their first play through, but went back to it and fell in love.
- rusty123jimi, on 11/14/2007, -1/+7Okay? Have you played the demo?
- KrustyTClown, on 11/14/2007, -3/+8Games are already looking better on PS3, Oblivion, COD4, and Assasin's creed are all reported to run smoother and look better. It may not be buy much, but it's still better and Uncharted could not even be done on 360. The games that run like crap on the PS3 were do to lazy developers.
- Lasereth, on 11/15/2007, -2/+7PS3 is starting to rake them in. First Resistance and Motorstorm, then Ratchet and Clank, then Folklore and Call of Duty 4, and now Uncharted. Looking good!! Funny how there was a gaming drought for the first 8 months of the year and then the good games started being shoveled in.
- charlescheese, on 11/14/2007, -2/+7Troll much?
- Hickeroar, on 11/15/2007, -2/+7My first play through the demo I hated it. My second play through I thought it was greatness and went out and pre-ordered it. I guess it had to grow on me.
- JayD16, on 11/14/2007, -2/+6Its cheaper on the the PS3 if you want to throw in the cost of LIVE.
- stainlessjack, on 11/14/2007, -2/+6Having some RPG's could really help, the PS2 was like the only last gen console with a lot of good RPG's, I think having those games draws a crowd, and the PS3 should follow in it's papa's footsteps.
- distrbnce, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4that's really strange. i wasn't looking forward to this game at all until i played the demo.
- rusty123jimi, on 11/14/2007, -1/+5Dude...have you even looked at 2008 yet? I don't smell dead corpse anywhere from the PS3 prespective! I think you need to chill with your fanboyism!
- Dracusis, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4I have Bioshock on the PC, and it looks better than a 360. Halo? Yeah, like any self respecting PC shooter fan would play that.
Mass effect may well be the game that makes me buy a 360 though. Don't know if I can wait 12 months for it to come out on the PC, Bioware are slack bastards. - mywhitenoise, on 11/14/2007, -1/+5He didn't.
Pretty funny that this guy wants to download a 30GB disc. He must be the first person to own a modded PS3, and have a $1000 burner. - vizionblind, on 11/15/2007, -1/+5the demo was a blast
- kinseyincanada, on 11/15/2007, -2/+5stupid ps3 actually getting good exclusive games now, making me want to spend more money.
- rusty123jimi, on 11/15/2007, -2/+5Take a look at 2008 and then speculate.
- Dracusis, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3Not a PSN title, it's a Blu-Ray game. How many thousands of dollars are you going to spend just to pirate a $60 game?
They make`em dumber every year. - hockey, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3That is why I'm seriously considering a PS3. RPG's are my favorite genre and the PS consoles traditionally have had those games in DROVES.
- ptaylor, on 11/14/2007, -2/+5Fred, were you fired from Sony or currently work at Microsoft? You refuse to say anything remotely positive about anything Sony. Did a close relative die due to Sony? What gives?
