- Kdog22, on 10/10/2007, -11/+56The thing I find funny is how all PS3 Bashers can't understand the need for Blu-Ray... A 5 minute demo is a 1GB download.. Now I'm know math wiz,, but sure sounds to me that all that extra Blu-Ray space is needed...
... And if I hear one stupid comment about compression techniques I'm gonna bitch slap someone... : ) - carbbomb, on 10/10/2007, -3/+39Goddess of War has finally come to the PS3
- carbbomb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+27Never said it was insult. In fact, its a pretty nice honor to be compared to such a kick ass game.
- djSyndrome, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23Heard from who? It just went up in the last half hour. I doubt anyone's finished downloading it yet, much less played through it.
- olddirtycr, on 10/10/2007, -4/+25i'm sure you have a ps3.
- niterider804, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23Last time I checked PC games have Expansion packs and Installations also.
- CReyes4182, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23Last time I checked God of War kicked ass. I don't see how this is an insult.
- kyrre, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20My only complaint is that it is very short. Only two small areas to play in. The game is beautiful and the action is intense. Lots of cool combos to learn. Sixaxis shaking for once does not feel like a cheap gimmick.
Sony impress with dubbing in many languages, including norwegian. This game look very expensive. - charlescheese, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16LOL worst trolling by an xbot ever.
- shinythingy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16I got it off the EU store and played and yes it is short but it is brilliant in my opinion. The animations are fluid and smooth and the fighting is great. I recommend anyone with a PS3 to get it asap.
- dysonlu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Now now, don't be bitter because you can't afford a PS3.
- panzergeist, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Let us know when you can play your PC games without installing them onto your PC's HDD. PCs have always gotten around the need for large media capacities by having a larger internal storage medium, called a hard disk drive. Any self-respecting PC gamer should know that.
- charlescheese, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14You're right, we should have stuck with 64mb cartridges. ***** this needing more space *****. They could have definitely been fine with 64mb cartridges. Gears of War would have fit on just 1/4th that cartridge.
- carbbomb, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15On a side note: this may be the slowest (probably due to the demand) d/l I've ever done through the PSN.
- Tostito, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Downloading right now. The demo, according to the impressions I've read, isn't very long, but it does showcase the graphical qualities very nicely and the game play is pretty smooth.
Goddess of War, I think not. - charlescheese, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14I bet PC developers would love to have more space. Why would they not love to have more space?!? That's silly.
- psychoace, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Game engines aren't that big. It's just code. It's the textures/video's/maps/models/sound that take up most of the space. With bigger games and higher amount of detailed required the higher the file size will be. I remember even first generation games for Xbox 360 were hitting near the 8.5 gig limit. So think how much these developers tried to put in the games but were forced to take out due to size. Blu Ray for the win.
- psychoace, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Yup so because the needed reuse of textures means less diversity in levels.
- damndj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Because they are two totally different games and while a first glance may make it seem like it's Goddess Of War, it's different game play.
- artofwar420, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12A few more weeks! My precious shall be mine.
- KyleMistry, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Yeah, it is pretty short, but it is still damn fun. Still, in just this tiny demo, we can get a grasp of the control scheme, visuals, and gameplay methods.
Really damn fun. - dysonlu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Can't believe in this day and age that some dude still isn't aware that the installed game is actually much bigger than what the media holds.
- DreamVsPs2, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Short but SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEt
- murakume, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I must've connected to the godly server, because I just started two minutes ago and am at 33%. I can't wait to give this demo a throw, perfect way to ease the daily pain of having to go to hell (read: work) in an hour.
- JayD16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I hope Blue Dragon and its 3 DVDs hitting the US will shut some people up about whether the extra space helps or not.
- AzraelKans, on 10/10/2007, -6/+13Ok I wont talk about compression, but I will mention my demo of Darkness is 3 small levels and weights 1 gb yet the entire game fits in a single dvd. Same thing with with shadowrun and ace combat 6.
You want to know why? simple: textures, models, animation, and levels do take a lot of space but lots of them are shared over the run of the entire game, so basically if you download one level or 2 you have a lot of the data that will be used in the next. Not to mention you also have the executable and a lot of resource files (sounds, music, etc) no need for compression just some cleaver resource management. - carbbomb, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10It's a demo... of course its for free.
- rainblood, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10I'm at work and I called up my little brother to download it for me so when I arrive I'll get to play this short demo I've been waiting for.
- pooper, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Very impressive. Too short, but the action cut scenes are as good as advertised. Can't wait for this one.
- murakume, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9We have the right to get excited over things just as you do.
- charlescheese, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that I want watch my HD movies in 1080p. No, that couldn't be why I wanted a bluray player in the PS3...
- loganhid, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Man i wish i had a PS3 - can't afford yet as it is around £400 here in the Uk (around $800)
- CReyes4182, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Your story would make more sense if it was another game demo say.... mass effect? and it was on the 360.
- dysonlu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6PC games used to come on floppies too, 640K used to be enough to run the OS and the apps too. What's enough now doesn't mean it's gonna be enough in the future. Since console games run from the disk itself, guess what will happen if a game comes in 2 DVDs (lots of PC games have an installed size is larger than one DVD already) , knucklehead. Yes, you would have to swap disks like a retard.
- N4S74, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Sweet, I'm going to log onto xbox live right now an....ahhhhh weak
- AzraelKans, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Uh? Why not, God of war is an excellent game that has a lot of critic and public appraisal if the demo is anything like god of war next gen, I wont only download it I would buy it in a heartbeat.;-)
- CReyes4182, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Haha nice try.. you fail :p
- fallenone05, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5OMG this game is Awesooo...that's it? it's over? :'(
- gdgi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5game engine != game folks. check any game you've ever played. the game 'engine' is the executable, which is usually less than 10 Mb (unless the coding team does something strange like include all of the debug symbols in the executable)...
- dysonlu, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Will the PS3 haters please stop trolling and crawl back in their hole. We understand it must be frustrating to you that you can't afford the system and enjoy the content.
- profingersk8er, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5the demo is unbelievably short for a 1gig download, but it was impressive.. I had fun throwing bodies, swords, and shields around. I just wish I could jump =)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6What do you guys call the day your 360's RROD? Thursday?
;) I kid, I kid. - ptaylor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Should've called in sick. Fought traffic to get here, fight traffic to get home, fight MORE GD traffic to download PSN content (got to download the RE 5 and MGS 4 vids), *****, *****, *****!!!
- charlescheese, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Yeah because reusing textures if FUN! I think they should make games using just one texture per game from here on out.
- xxbrighteyed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4he clearly doesn't own a ps3
- dysonlu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I sense jealousy from some dudes for not being able to enjoy the Heavenly Sword fun themselves. I partly understand their frustration with their 360 in the shops for repair and their Gear Of War disk sitting there uselessly collecting dust. They must be praying they'll get their box back on time for Halo. I mean with one new good game a year, they can't afford to miss Halo, can they.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I was thinking that guy in the behind the scenes videos looked an awful lot like Gollum.
- zzz@tkz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4A lot of people think that the Darkness demo was so heavy because the way the engine was built that it required all the textures and sounds in order not to spit out errors, hence making it very large. The code for levels is quite minute compared to sounds & textures.
What really sucks is that MS said that they'd make sure that no game required a storage device (be it a memory card or a HDD), so until they phase out the HDD-less 360, and retract that statement, we'll never see the ability to install some of the textures on to the HDD for faster loading of them. They've already made an icon for "Requires storage device", which leaves me to believe that they will indeed phase out the HDD-less 360. - LIQUlD, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9kyrre didn't say that shaking the SIXAXIS isn't a gimmick. In fact, it was implied that it IS a gimmick, but in the case of Heavenly Sword, does not FEEL like a gimmick. Don't read into comments what isn't even there.
- imikedaman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It looks like God of War but with an actual combat system. Square-square-triangle, anyone?
