- RoadDoggFL, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5How about US or worldwide sales figures?
- djSyndrome, on 11/15/2007, -1/+5HD-DVD: Lots
Blu-ray: Lots
DVD: More Lots - triplehelix, on 11/15/2007, -1/+3globally Blu-Ray is outselling HD-DVD 2 to 1.
- aliengoods, on 11/15/2007, -2/+4If you mean that DVDs would outsell both HD formats combined for years to come then yes, we did know it.
- charlescheese, on 11/15/2007, -6/+7I disagree, we constantly hear from the fanboys how big a mistake BluRay was to include in the PS3. So if that's legitimate discussion, so is discussion that BluRay is doing well and people are using it. I for one use my PS3 for watching bluray and dvd movies. In fact, I went with PS3 because it was a comprehensive media center that did it all. So the fact that the PS3 is THE bluray player on the market right now makes this entirely relevant to the gaming section discussion.
- amrush4th, on 11/15/2007, -2/+3Blue just looks much cooler for the cover of the movie
- shinythingy, on 11/15/2007, -3/+4Dude if you going to ***** about stuff you may as well go all out. I mean 45in and up is a fact? Why not say you also need it resting on the breast of 2 pornstars to get a better picture quality?
Resolution depends more on viewing distance than screen size. - triplehelix, on 11/16/2007, -0/+1thats your decision to make, but don't tell me how to spend my money. personally, i love curling up on the couch with my wife and watching a good movie in HD, and sporting events in HD crush the experience in SD.
- triplehelix, on 11/15/2007, -2/+3i'm guessing you don't have a HD tv with HD programming, or you wouldn't need to ask that question.
- SEGA4life, on 11/15/2007, -4/+4Well actually if you read up on early worries of the PS3 selling, the Developers of the system asked to leave the BR out of the PS3 to save costs and make it easier for Dev's, so people inside Sony them selves think it was a bad idea as well.
Not to mention endless price cuts is whats making the PS3 sell a little more now, and with not noticing a difference from DvD and Blu-Ray unless you have a 1080p TV and have it bigger then 45in in-size is pointless as well, and thats FACT.
I think it was the Sony Fan Boys that said FISRT "Hahaha we have BR hahahaha" so it kinda goes both ways.
And This does NOT belong in the Video Game Section.
But in Tech News. - DeviantDragon, on 11/15/2007, -1/+1OK, This is Lame
- aliengoods, on 11/15/2007, -1/+1Sources?
- SEGA4life, on 11/15/2007, -1/+1I'll make this simple, take a NEW PsP with Video Out.
Now connect it to a TV, see how bad the picture is?
Why is that? because the UMD image has to be stretched to fit the screen, witch is bigger then the PsP screen.
same kinda thing goes for DvD's and HD DvDs in a way.
Theres no difference in a DvD compared to a HD DvD on a 32 inch TV, I know because I own one and it was a waste of money.
after I saw the a DvD and HD DvD on a 54in I understood the comparison. - aliengoods, on 11/15/2007, -2/+2I'm guessing you base your life on the quality of your toys or you wouldn't have made that statement. I only watch an hour or two of TV per day, so investing thousands in the audio and video equipment as well as incurring higher monthly fees for HD channels is a waste. And yes, I have seen HD. A friend of mine has a 62inch DLP with Sunday ticket and we watch football at his place all the time. It does look good, but not good enough to fork over 2 weeks salary.
- Wailord, on 11/15/2007, -1/+1Author needs to learn that using the word "whilst" doesn't make him look the tiniest bit smarter.
- otatop, on 11/15/2007, -2/+1It's actually closer to 1.5:1 globally. 3.01 million BDs sold, 1.97 million HDs. It's 2:1 in the US.
- aliengoods, on 11/15/2007, -3/+2The PS3 is a comprehensive media center that does it all? ROFL!
You can play BluRay, DVD, and watch clips on YouTube. That's hardly doing it all. Can it Tivo your favorite shows? Can you download and watch movies on it? Fact is the only device that has the potential to do it all is a PC with the proper hardware, but because everyone is so afraid of piracy (because we can't download and watch movies anyway) they're holding back BluRay and HD DVD on the personal computer, although I think with the backing of Microsoft HD DVD will have a slight edge when the drives are eventually available.
So your PS3 may have been a good choice for you, but don't feed me the ***** Sony party line that the PS3 'does it all'. - memoBug, on 11/15/2007, -6/+4The difference is under 100 now. In any case, it looks like both formats FAIL!
Harry Potter Order of Phoenix Format vs. Rank in DVD at Amazon UK:
HD-DVD: Rank #214
Blu-ray: Rank #122
Standard DVD: Rank #1 ! - Sk8SkaNJ, on 11/15/2007, -9/+7This has nothing to do with video games. Just because some of the consoles can play HD movies it doesn't mean they get posted in here. Not to mention this is just a blog with no link to any sort of real evidence.
- ettin, on 11/15/2007, -4/+1Whats peoples obsession with seeing turds in hi-def?
