- anarchyinthekr, on 11/10/2008, -0/+74damn he makes me look lazy
- bstory, on 11/10/2008, -1/+72you have to admire the guy
- AmyVernon, on 11/10/2008, -0/+43Good for him.
- NicoNicoNico, on 11/11/2008, -0/+42As a person who's disabled as well, that is absolutely awesome. Submitting this to a few forums, if you don't mind.
I'm not nearly as bad off as him, but I know some people who are. The only games I have trouble with are Rockband (the drumset) and...that's about it, actually. That set up he has would be impossible for me to use because of the foot controls.
A little off topic, but who here thinks the console makers should make adaptive devices to help people play? Not just the physically disabled but others like the colorblind as well. They do it for cars, why not games? - mycoplasma, on 11/11/2008, -0/+34Because he can't use an Xbox 360 controller with his PS3?
- godmode, on 11/10/2008, -1/+32How did he build it when he's handicapped in that fashion? Thats pretty badass.
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -0/+24original thread - http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/ ...
- nick2, on 11/11/2008, -1/+24I'm handicapped and I'm fully capable of digging you down.
- coldkill3r, on 11/11/2008, -0/+20Wow, what determination! Keep on gaming my friend.
- XxpokemasterxX, on 11/10/2008, -0/+20I respect it.
- Authustian, on 11/11/2008, -5/+24Because it's the better console, duh.
/begin_flame_war - inactive, on 11/10/2008, -0/+19he had an engineer help him.
- uncertainty, on 11/11/2008, -0/+19Wow this is pretty awesome, but read the original thread. Some of those guys are idiots.
"dumb.. why go through all the trouble when you can just jump on your couch and play good ol ps3 with a good ol normal ps3 controller.. ah, so relaxing and quick to do.." - mm3guy, on 11/11/2008, -1/+20What a load of ***** replying to him in that thread.
- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -0/+15my little brother has cerebral palsy, video games are his passion. here's the problem, the wii is his favorite console and his poor muscle tone doesn't work to well with the motion sensing controller, while he can still use the gamecube controller for some games there is still a great deal of games he cant play. i really think Dev's should start looking at the disabled gamer community and start coming up with more ideas for these people. this guy in the article is one cool dude, good job buddy.
- namtellum, on 11/10/2008, -1/+13Game on man.
- solidwhetstone, on 11/11/2008, -0/+12He's hardcore.
- OptionalPirate, on 11/11/2008, -0/+12He had the help of an engineer, asshat.
- Saitekc, on 11/11/2008, -0/+11Right on man, doing whatever you must to do what you love. Always worth it!
- noPCtoday, on 11/11/2008, -0/+10I'm not handicapped but I'm also fully capable of digging you down.
- evilesttoast, on 11/11/2008, -5/+14SPY SAPPIN' MAH SENTRY
- thatsgoodkarma, on 11/11/2008, -4/+12I wonder if he can play Guitar Hero
- vault, on 11/11/2008, -1/+9We knew that one was coming...
- zakatov, on 11/11/2008, -2/+10Oh that's so wrong yet so funny.
- Velnich, on 11/11/2008, -1/+8help = actually doing it though his input was no doubt key
- migshark, on 11/11/2008, -1/+8Great. Now can someone here be a dear, and engineer some neural implants for me? Losing my eyesight steadily and I-kid-you-not my declining ability to game is the worst part. I wouldn't lose 6 milliseconds from the monitor's response time either =).
Props to this champ, he's adapted well. - LucidDr34m3r, on 11/11/2008, -1/+8I'm actually quite one handed, and I still manage to play Rock Band with the guitar (It's easier than Guitar Hero, I know). I usually play bass so I don't mess up my friends since bass is pretty easy. I can play expert on most songs, and on lead I can play hard on about... I dunno, 70% of them. I can play drums on like... easy... on some songs (I sure wouldn't make the cut in Def Leopard).
It really sucks being unable to participate in something all your friends do, thats why we work extra hard to make it work for us. - Swivelstick, on 11/11/2008, -0/+7No of course not... If ya refering to yourself that is.
- IAmTheGuy, on 11/11/2008, -28/+34What a sad story. Being stuck with a PS3...
But seriously, mad props to the guy. - leonardutah, on 11/11/2008, -0/+6I'm just digging you down because you suck.
- cyrix, on 11/11/2008, -1/+7GTFO. Your fanboy attitude is seriously not needed here.
- Hanzfranz, on 11/11/2008, -1/+7What a trooper! Game on!
- Roland1232, on 11/11/2008, -0/+6You can't keep a good gamer down.
- woofer1125, on 11/11/2008, -0/+5Just brilliant.
Evolution has not got nothing on him.
game on friend. game on. - cyrix, on 11/11/2008, -1/+6And what have you done that is even nearly as remarkable as enabling someone who is severely handicapped to be able to play complex video games on a modern day console?
I'll be waiting. - LeviTheSmith, on 11/11/2008, -0/+5KitsuneNoYume is his PSN ID.
- kingbinji, on 11/11/2008, -1/+6at least he'll never have to worry about sore thumbs
- zip000, on 11/11/2008, -0/+4Not to be insensitive, but it seems like a motion controlled controller (and the system and games that are built around it) is a poor choice for some one with CP.
I would think that a traditional controller setup would work better for him. - djpray2k, on 11/11/2008, -0/+4Can we set up a charity thing online? I know he is in America but a PS3 game in the UK costs £40 so if 400 diggrs gave only £1 he would be sorted...probably less with it being in America. I'd give a quid.
- staticneuron, on 11/11/2008, -0/+4I think the mods got to them and left the respectable gamers behind because I do not see any bad response in the 5 pages that I clicked thgrough.
- TenMinuteParty, on 11/11/2008, -0/+4This guy is way more awesome than I. Hats off to you, man.
- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -5/+9Yeah, but all of those games are above a 9.
- zakatov, on 11/11/2008, -2/+6So you're saying any game that some arbitrary reviewer gave an 8 or below is not worth playing? Garbage.
- ookamiwarrior, on 11/11/2008, -3/+7"That deaf, dumb, blind kid, sure plays a mean pin-ball."
This guy is way better than that wheelchair kid who does halfpipes with the skateboarders ...
... or that girl with no legs who swam Lake Ontario ...
... or those people in Japan that have the mech-like body suits to help them move!
A video gamer. What a champ. It brings a tear to my eye. - antarctica7, on 11/11/2008, -1/+4He already stated he is working on an xbox 360 controler. Of course, he built a controler for the system he used the most first...
I'm sure that if he used the xbox 360 more than the ps3, he would have built it first. But then, he'd first have to get an xbox that didn't give a red ring of death.. so, at least his second or third xbox. - GiggleStick, on 11/11/2008, -2/+5Because he doesn't base his self worth on what idiots on digg think.
- palehorse864, on 11/11/2008, -0/+3This guy to everyone else: You mean you have to use your hands? That's like a baby's toy!
- maxsunset, on 11/11/2008, -0/+3yup, you are a dick!
- BiggestAl, on 11/11/2008, -0/+3When the President is a quadriplegic I'm pretty sure it's not an insult at anyone.
- protonone, on 11/11/2008, -0/+3To all the people who think video games are terrible, stories like this should shut them up. The guy might not be able to move in real life, but with his supreme dedication and his PS3 he is able to move and interact with others online just like anyone else. I can't wait to see the future were technology opens up a new virtual world where everyone is equal no matter their physical limitations.
