- whymanwhy, on 11/13/2007, -5/+72Tighten the graphics
- otakushark, on 11/13/2007, -8/+67I have this game and have been enjoying it a lot. The graphics and animation are very good indeed, but comparing it to modern-day CG movies is quite a stretch.
- triplehelix, on 11/12/2007, -7/+52i can't believe how much mainstream press this game is getting.
- jpwhitmore, on 11/13/2007, -13/+52This game is actually making me consider buying a PS3
- aaron4, on 11/13/2007, -4/+40everybody knows that the kansas city star is the place to go for gaming news
- NightVortez, on 11/13/2007, -1/+30Why are people bringing up Crysis? It's going for a realistic look rather then a CG cartoon type.
- Hickeroar, on 11/13/2007, -5/+30Graphics aside, it's a surprisingly and amazingly good game. I didn't hold out much hope beforehand, but man, I enjoyed this game more than I've enjoyed a game in a LONG time. AFA the graphics go, they're hard to judge until you see them in-game. When you're in game-play, the graphics and effects REALLY shine. There are literally thousands of objects on screen and in the environments at some points.
The game is just beautiful all around. Gameplay, graphics, etc... - daizaru, on 11/12/2007, -0/+21It's always a competition. I think it's cool that the graphics capabilities of systems are getting mainstream press time. It doesn't really matter which game... fact of the matter is Ratchet and Clank has some pretty good looking graphics foreground and background. Just because it's more of a cartoon kids game doesn't matter.
"Hey look how cool this is!" as opposed to "oh my god, video games made my little johnny a serial killer". In the news is great. - loganhid, on 11/13/2007, -2/+23RTFA it says like an animated movie - in comparison the game is very similar in graphics and style
- mdaize, on 11/13/2007, -4/+22I just finished beating R&C for the second time and I can tell you I am very pleased with the game.
Graphics are great, gameplay is fun and immersive.
I can assure anyone fence-sitters, R&C is a great game and definitely adds that pizaz to the PS3 Lineup. - Hickeroar, on 11/13/2007, -0/+18that's why he's talking about the game, and not the over-compressed jpg...
- fantasticFlan, on 11/13/2007, -4/+21It makes complete sense to say you enjoyed one game more than another no matter how different they are.
- Ajajadude, on 11/13/2007, -2/+17You can compare any game from whatever genre that you want. R&C is quite possibly the best game I've played all year, and that's comparing the game to GoW, God of War II, Resistance, Heavenly Sword, etc.
- Hickeroar, on 11/13/2007, -6/+19I own both consoles and love both and I can definitely say I enjoyed this game more than GoW. It's just GOOD.
- Optimaximal, on 11/12/2007, -2/+15Why doesn't someone compare it to TF2?
- GreyICE, on 11/13/2007, -1/+14The best programmers in the world can't write a better script. Look at the final fantasy movie (pretty much either of them). All the animation budget in the world can't fix those problems.
- SenorCardgage74, on 11/12/2007, -2/+15Theyre both delicious
- holysocks, on 11/13/2007, -4/+17I thought Team Fortress 2 did it pretty well too
- xboxing, on 11/13/2007, -1/+12I agree completely. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the game, and I've seen some levels in this game that just left me awe struck they were so beautifully crafted and rendered. All that and the game is an absolute blast to play.
- Hickeroar, on 11/12/2007, -1/+12Comparing Crysis and R&C is like comparing apples to elephants. They just have nothing in common.
- unclejimbo88, on 11/12/2007, -3/+14On level 4
- fhornplayer, on 11/13/2007, -1/+11Too bad the article doesn't have any decent pics of the game...
- bigbadgoat, on 11/13/2007, -2/+12you played both to know that? ... right?
- Ajajadude, on 11/13/2007, -1/+10It really does seem like an animated movie at times.
Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, it's still fun as all hell to play. - quomen, on 11/12/2007, -1/+10Awfully shameless.
- staticneuron, on 11/13/2007, -1/+9Because people do not see the rendering times nor the complexity. I went to school for computer animation and all that matters is that you can breath life into the objects onscreen. Not only that but you appeal to what "looks" right. Take for instance Final Fantasy the spirits within. Amazing models and textures, the rendering might have taken forever I am in the theater wondering how they did it and how hard it must of been until I was brought back to reality by the other movie goers saying how horrible it was because things didn't "move" right.
You would be how little it takes to fool people and according to the average person they can look at a pixar movie and look at a game like Rachet and clank and think that games have finally caught up to cg movies. - fantasticFlan, on 11/13/2007, -3/+11You got a problem with the Kansas City Star?
- Hickeroar, on 11/13/2007, -4/+11You can't compare them at all. Their graphical styles are COMPLETELY different.
- GeneralFailure0, on 11/12/2007, -1/+8I've always been a huge fan of Ratchet & Clank and Insomniac, and I think it is deserving of the attention it's getting, but I agree it's surprising to see this entry of the series get so much more press than previous installments.
- Dustmuffins, on 11/13/2007, -3/+9While I can understand how you can confuse Ratchet and Clank with Crysis due to how amazingly similar the games are, they are actually two different games.
- Ajajadude, on 11/13/2007, -1/+7Except there's more than one game you can buy for the PS3. R&C is probably one of the best, if not THE best of the lineup so far.
- nurvus, on 11/12/2007, -5/+11Your mom has better graphics........
- prth8machine, on 11/12/2007, -3/+9Thats weird, I had no problem comparing them at all. While the styles are COMPLETELY different, I have no problem looking at R&C and saying it's a better looking game. Because it's an opinion. Even if the styles were identical, you really couldn't say outside of opinion which was better.
- rusty123jimi, on 11/13/2007, -2/+7Freaking fanboy!
- rabidmonkey1, on 11/12/2007, -0/+5I immediately thought of old LucasArts games like Monkey Island and Grim Fandango... amazing characters right there...
- Dustmuffins, on 11/12/2007, -0/+5IIRC, Toy Story is actually earlier than Toy Story 2
- carbonetc, on 11/13/2007, -1/+6I liked Antz more than I liked Bug's Life, but after that things went downhill. Once people find out they can make money with cheap laughs and pop-culture references, they rarely seem to find their integrity again (see Disney).
- prth8machine, on 11/12/2007, -1/+6Truth.
- inactive, on 11/13/2007, -1/+5Everything is equally important, even storyline. I want to know why I'm fighting a massive horde of robots, otherwise I'll want to know why I'm playing this game.
- JustinPM, on 11/12/2007, -1/+5No kidding. The graphics are awesome so here's a 90x90 pixel heavily compressed piece of shoe! Oh wows.
- dsmx, on 11/13/2007, -5/+9Just ignore the joke of a review that was gamespot's and you'll be OK. Seriously wtf were they smoking when they gave it a 7.5?
- inactive, on 11/12/2007, -1/+5Oh God, it's you people. Must every new game just be all blood and gore? Don't get me wrong, I love blood and gore, but there's more to gaming than that. It'd be like watching nothing but horror films. Sometimes you just want a relaxing comedy.
- joey368, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3cigarettes at least. 5/10 was mediocre the last time I checked, not 7.5.
- SpongeBad, on 11/12/2007, -1/+4That's because the original NY Times article was on Digg when it appeared. If you notice, the byline specifies that it's a NYT piece. Obviously they waited a while before running it.
- rarson, on 11/12/2007, -3/+6prth8machine, that's not really true. If you compare, for instance, Gran Turismo 4 to a Nintendo64 racing game, you can certainly come to an agreement on which game had the better graphics. The opinion part would be which graphics you preferred.
- Delta32521, on 11/12/2007, -1/+4Especially for a broken link.
- turpenine, on 11/12/2007, -2/+5cept one might eat the other if you give it the chance.
- RubberBinder, on 11/12/2007, -2/+5Yeah, those apples are dangerous.
- johnbellone, on 11/13/2007, -1/+4Assassin's Creed comes out on Tuesday.
- shinythingy, on 11/13/2007, -3/+6Yeah i love the new storyline they brought into the franchise......oh wait
