If anything console gaming will eventually die when the developers finally steal all the features PC's have and the two platforms basically merge. Consoles are nothing but locked down computers which become outdated within a month of release compared to PC's, and thanks to trend whores it has become profitable to market and sell good games specifically to the console crowd.
