GT5: Prolouge cars vs. their real counterparts [PICS]

- GIFF3, on 03/17/2008, -4/+55Just plain cool.
- grumbel, on 03/17/2008, -21/+4Not really, the GT5 pictures look rather artificial here, but not so much because of GT5, but because the screenshots are done by photographing a TV, so all the images get a blueish tint and washed out colors.
- ElectroOverlord, on 03/17/2008, -0/+3Just Complex Cool too!

damn... things have changed so much in a blink.- GliTCH82, on 03/18/2008, -1/+1I hardly call 15 years a blink. Nowadays, if you post the same thing on Digg that was posted earlier that day, people say it's a dupe. If you post it a week later, it's a dupe. ***** moves so fast on the internet, I think this probably looks about right for 15 years worth of graphics technology.
- shagg187, on 03/17/2008, -0/+1Reality Am Cry!
- Reaper2806, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1It's the background that gives it away in the end, the road surface and scenery should show some motion blur.
- wicketr, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1The shadows are all wrong
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -43/+8can't wait to see these kickass graphics in replay mode. /sarcasm
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -34/+6digg me down all you want the prologue demo still looked mediocre while actually playing it.
- SeaweedWater, on 03/17/2008, -3/+6Zing Zam!
- marik297, on 03/17/2008, -2/+20Try playing in something above 480i
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -18/+4played in 720P which is what I played forza 2 on.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/17/2008, -17/+31Forza 2 is horse *****. And GT5: Prologue already has 1 million copies sold in pre-orders in Europe.
360 fanboys are ***** stupid. GT5 and Europe's PS3 fanbase will kill your little *****. - logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -12/+2copies sold equals quality? you know you're right kane and lynch is the best game EVAR!
- matchboxlord, on 03/17/2008, -1/+13Just because Forza 2 looks ***** in your 720P doesn't mean GT5 is going to look ***** as well, or maybe you just have a ***** 720p set. I am no fanboy and I love my xbox and PS3 all equally.
- DarkSamus, on 03/17/2008, -7/+6pgr 2 on xbox is better than forza pos
- mywhitenoise, on 03/17/2008, -1/+12"copies sold equals quality? you know you're right kane and lynch is the best game EVAR!"
I wasn't aware that Kane and Lynch is the highest selling game "EVAR". - logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -17/+2sold over 1 mil copies sales don't equal quality.
"Just because Forza 2 looks ***** in your 720P doesn't mean GT5 is going to look ***** as well, or maybe you just have a ***** 720p set. I am no fanboy and I love my xbox and PS3 all equally."
ha, it's a toshiba 32HL95 720p native LCDTV basically a good average HDTV if it looks mediocre on my TV then it's going to look mediocre to most everyone. - BabyWookie, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1"Forza 2 is horse *****. And GT5: Prologue already has 1 million copies sold in pre-orders in Europe.

- masterm1nd, on 03/17/2008, -4/+11Is there a graphically superior racing game?
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -18/+4what I saw wasn't much better than forza 2 especially with the lack of AA. Forza 2 played better IMO as well. I will say this after GT2 the GT series as usually been underwhelming to me.
- masterm1nd, on 03/17/2008, -3/+12If you say it wasn't much better than forza, then I assume the answer is no?
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -16/+1teh cars looked better in GT but teh tracks looked like dead wastelands. terrible textures and bad lighting.
- Spuy767, on 03/17/2008, -1/+12Are you ***** stoned? After GT2 it was underwhelming? A-Spec? GT4? Those games were astonishing.
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -9/+1if your a graphics I guess the replays were worth watching it was the same game over and over. barely enhanced physics never improving AI and bumper physics that amazed the mind.
- GliTCH82, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1Jeremy Clarkson, is that you?
- masterm1nd, on 03/17/2008, -3/+12If you say it wasn't much better than forza, then I assume the answer is no?

- manaf, on 03/17/2008, -5/+63Cant wait to see the full GT5!
- artofwar420, on 03/17/2008, -2/+8I can't, as much as I resisted it, GT5 prologue will get my purchase.
- SeaBass22, on 03/17/2008, -1/+7I'm definitely getting the Full GT5, but I just can't spend $40 on a demo.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 03/17/2008, -0/+1They've added even more stuff since the Japanese release of Prologue (car tuning, etc.) so it's a little closer to the actual product than it was before. Maybe a Demo+
- SpoBo, on 03/17/2008, -0/+1t has online play ... + a ***** of cars that you WILL want ... and offcourse the ability for extra practice and the time to spread your earnings in GT5. I just won't be able to have all the cool cars in GT5 if I can't earn some cash in advance :D Also, F2007 and F40. A must buy.
- SeaBass22, on 03/17/2008, -1/+7I'm definitely getting the Full GT5, but I just can't spend $40 on a demo.

- Janv1er, on 03/17/2008, -7/+12They should have swapped the 1st and 3rd pics on the 'Reality' side.
Seems more logical.- artofwar420, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4I say the last looks crazy real, like uncanny valley real, does that apply to cars?
- Chakat, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4Yep. It applies to everything. "Almost but not quite right" is pretty damn powerful.
- RonPaulPres2008, on 03/17/2008, -0/+1Not really, the angles are much closer the way they are. What they should have done is image flipped them though to make them seem in the same direction.
- artofwar420, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4I say the last looks crazy real, like uncanny valley real, does that apply to cars?
- b5bar, on 03/17/2008, -4/+23Choice! This is one of the few games that has me thinking about getting a PS3.
- okaroleo, on 03/17/2008, -0/+10this is the only game that would make me buy ps3.... and of course now i will. :(
- Braxford, on 03/17/2008, -9/+133Now if only they crashed --complete with broken glass, dented fenders, etc.. -- like they would in real life then i would be sold.
- turpenine, on 03/17/2008, -13/+7I think people are completely overlooking this. In forza this is like the best part.
- marik297, on 03/17/2008, -6/+13When I played Forza 2(I only played for a hour, so I could be wrong), the damage didn't have any effect on how the car performed. I'd rather them have damage that actually affects racing then just have it on the car.
- krische, on 03/17/2008, -2/+9I believe DIRT had that. When I'd play the demo, if I wrecked the car, it would start becoming hard to to steer and such.
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -2/+11you were playing arcade mode sim mode allows for realistic damage though teh cars never get totaled they alwasys will still work just at 1% of what they should be.
- turpenine, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1i call it total destruction when it won't go above 1mph...
- krymise, on 03/17/2008, -1/+12You must have had the damage only on cosmetic, because if you had simulation on and hit the wall you can break the car to the point of no return.
- bills534, on 03/18/2008, -0/+2yep youre wrong, you can hit a wall and it will knock your steering out of alignment overheat the engine, screw up the transmission, etc....
- volacide, on 03/17/2008, -3/+4Yeah but Forza 1 and Forza 2 look so similar. Such a minor improvement over those visuals it's kind of appalling.
- Spuy767, on 03/17/2008, -5/+1Buy burnout.
- ausfahrt, on 03/17/2008, -0/+3They are planning to in GT5.
- marik297, on 03/17/2008, -6/+13When I played Forza 2(I only played for a hour, so I could be wrong), the damage didn't have any effect on how the car performed. I'd rather them have damage that actually affects racing then just have it on the car.
- volacide, on 03/17/2008, -1/+17I dugg you up because that would definitely be amazing, but I'm also able to get over it when I consider how good they look when not banged up. I mean if you have to sacrifice IQ to the point of Forza 2 (or even PGR) just for damage I'll go with GT's method.
- mrfreeziexp, on 03/17/2008, -1/+3hopefully Burnout 5 will be like that..
- mdaize, on 03/17/2008, -13/+7yep... crash... definitely the way the game should be played *rolls eyes*
you want to crash? go play Burnout or Forza...
You get into a crash, you lose and you have to restart...
THE POINT IS NOT TO CRASH- bejayel, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1We want realism, not just to crash.
- oldlostcory, on 03/17/2008, -2/+7gran turismo really dropped the ball on the no damage although i do commend them on a in car view. Even forza isn't as good as codemasters Toca Racing series when it comes to damage. Can't wait for the new Grid coming from codemasters http://youtube.com/watch?v=8WmKqFpH8P4
- SkippyDoorknob, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5Isn't the final version of GT5 rumored to have some sort of damage feature?
- volacide, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1It's rumored that the final game might yes, and it's also rumored that there might be an update to GT5P that will add it farther into its lifespan.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5Isn't the final version of GT5 rumored to have some sort of damage feature?
- maley, on 03/17/2008, -0/+11Just a FYI, the full version has been promised to have damage. While I can't remember, I'm pretty sure they've never promised to add damage in until now.
- DJDee85, on 03/17/2008, -2/+8I think they don't have damage because certain companies want their cars to always be seen in the best possible light. I usually play in first person view anyway, so damage doesn't really matter to me. The GT series is so far beyond Forza in every other aspect of being a true driving simulation that getting caught up on not having damage is just nit-picky
- corejava2, on 03/17/2008, -0/+10i think the reason why people want damage in the game is because GT IS the ultimate driving sim. And not just for the cosmetic effects of wrecking your car, but all of the nuances that happens when you've got a busted wheel or a broken door; the additional drag... all that other stuff that can come with damage to a vehicle would open up an endless amount of realism to the game that i think all GT fans are looking for.
- knowitman, on 03/17/2008, -1/+2Dugg both DJDee85's and corejava2's comments because you both make very valid points.
- SpoBo, on 03/17/2008, -2/+13They didn't do damage up until now for 2 reasons. Companies don't like their cars getting destroyed ... and more importantly ... older consoles can't really handle it very accurately. Companies are begging now to get their brand included (well .. it's practically free advertisement to the people that will be buying cars and are in fact addicted to them). The people developing GT5 have confirmed that there will be damage in GT5. Perhaps not initially but most definitely though an upgrade. Also, every car already has each part individually modeled to allow crashes in the future. It's not just a game they are making but a platform. And this starts making sense when you know that car companies are approaching polyphony digital to model their cars in the game (along with the physics) so they can experience what they are like to drive. And that's not a joke but reality :) So I expect a LOT of experimental cars to be included in GT5 :D
It's not just a game anymore to Sony it's more of a vision they have. So they are injecting the company with a TON of cash. All they are doing with the Prologue is allowing gamers to influence the development. They could do a huge open beta .... but then you would get feedback from a bunch of 10 year olds saying the cars handle like *****. They want feedback from real enthusiasts .. people fan enough to pony up 40$ for an extended demo. Just compare it with Crackdown .. k? It had a Halo 3 beta for a couple of weeks. Nobody cared about Crackdown ... they all cared about Halo 3. (Turns out Crackdown was fun to play ... but we didn't know that up front).
I hope people will understand now that a prologue game is not a demo. It's a way to get feedback from people who care... and coincidently getting some money back to invest in further development. So you are actually helping PD make a better game by buying GT5 prologue :) And yes ... you might have guessed so .. I will be buying it :D- sparced, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1very nice post, wasted on most readers on here though.
- diggingaround, on 03/18/2008, -0/+2you'll eventually see that in GT10 :)
- turpenine, on 03/17/2008, -13/+7I think people are completely overlooking this. In forza this is like the best part.

- DarkSamus, on 03/17/2008, -3/+1it'll be a long wait
- SkippyDoorknob, on 03/17/2008, -1/+1Just a few weeks.
- DarkSamus, on 03/17/2008, -3/+1it'll be a long wait
- Mooinakan, on 03/17/2008, -22/+12Except everybody knows its not going to look like that while you play.
Oh well, Forza 2 and other racing games do the same thing. Pretty nice to compare regardless.- marik297, on 03/17/2008, -8/+9You do know these are all in-game screenshots right?
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -6/+5in replay mode genious every racing game today turns on lots of effects in replay mode that just aren't possible during actual gameplay.
- volacide, on 03/17/2008, -3/+7It doesn't matter, even in-game GT5P makes Forza 2 look like an XBOX game.
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -5/+1not the demo I played jaggies galore and dead textures.
- A14049752, on 03/17/2008, -3/+1Actually, 'genious', if you can name one racing game that turns on effects during replay, and then cite your sources, I'll believe you. For now, though, I'm just going to consider you an idiot that doesn't recognize something cool for what it is.
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -2/+4just play the games. PGR does it, dirt does it, forza does it, GT 1-5 do it. The only racers that don't do it are either on PC or don't have a replay mode. plus 90% of the time a screenshot will look more realistic just based on how the camera is pointed at the model. hell if I only used photos from forza 2 in photo mode you'd be hard pressed to tell teh difference between forza 2 or GT 5. Cars are easiest things in teh world to render correctly in 3d. They don't change and everything is shiny.
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -6/+5in replay mode genious every racing game today turns on lots of effects in replay mode that just aren't possible during actual gameplay.
- PleaseJustDie, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4Actually the demo looks better in game, the pictures of the TV screen don't really do it justice. And that's just a demo of the Prologue, Prologue will be even better and the final full GT5 even better.
- krische, on 03/17/2008, -0/+7Looks like someone hasn't even played the demo.
- MrFisty, on 03/17/2008, -0/+2Go play the demo, then come back and tell us if you still feel the same way.
- marik297, on 03/17/2008, -8/+9You do know these are all in-game screenshots right?
- mistahroth, on 03/17/2008, -1/+59It seems like everytime theres a new GT game.... I think its the most realistic thing I've ever seen in a video game.... then a few years later its like "psh thats rubbish"
- knowitman, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5Because the next GT game just came out.
- GeekyGerge, on 03/17/2008, -8/+63The reflections are all wrong.
- badjoke, on 03/17/2008, -5/+3I came here to say the exact same comment.
- cphelps, on 03/17/2008, -0/+1Then say it already...
- badjoke, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1Well fine!
"The reflections are all wrong!"
- badjoke, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1Well fine!
- cphelps, on 03/17/2008, -0/+1Then say it already...
- Shiftgood, on 03/17/2008, -5/+3it looks like they spent so much time making the interior of the car along with the driver that throwing a relfection over it would really piss some people off... but i totally agree with you.
plus... why is it impossible to get wheels and tires to light correctly? - b3and1p, on 03/17/2008, -3/+11Its true. Maybe because I do it for a living, but the left shots are obviously not real. They have a while to go until you can't tell.
- diggrim, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1they need some sort of recursive ray-tracing
- matt.rubin, on 03/18/2008, -1/+4you're photoshopped
- solinent, on 03/18/2008, -0/+2Some tech stuff:
In order to do convincing "fake" reflections, they have to render the environment 6 times for each car! Also, in order to do real reflections, it's probably easier to just use raytracing.
Reflections are actually really hard: If you use pre-baked static reflections, it doesn't look good, but if you use dynamic ones (maybe use a low-res scene in order to get the reflection) it is a large performance hit. This is cube mapping BTW, I know of no other feasable dynamic way.- samdu, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1Real time raytracing to any usable extent is a long way off.
- badjoke, on 03/17/2008, -5/+3I came here to say the exact same comment.

- Nintendo451, on 03/17/2008, -8/+12Now, I will admit, I am a diehard Nintendo fan. I own a PS2, and it's really fun. But I've been against the PS3 from the beginning. However, those pictures are DAMN impressive.
- kingmanic, on 03/17/2008, -1/+5Being pro Nintendo doesn't mean you have to be anti-Sony anti-MS. Room enough in the market for everyone and I'd prefer having a choice. I think the Wii has some merits as does the PS3. I don't have a 360 because i happen to have a nice PC but I may buy one still.
- cphelps, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5I was initially against the PS3 until my purchase of said console last month and I was totally blown away by the system. Best console I've owned to date and yes I do have a Wii as well.

- bjs3171, on 03/17/2008, -0/+15uh...yes? do YOU own any video games that are indistinguishable from reality?
- AROZ, on 03/17/2008, -7/+7The plastic isn't completely accurate in colour yet. That's nitpicking though.
- PleaseJustDie, on 03/17/2008, -1/+4Its actually more more accurate than these pictures show, I think it lost some of the quality using a camera to take pictures of the TV. When I play the Prologue Demo the reds are much darker and more vibrant on the ferari and there always seemed to me to be much more reflection on the surface of the car than the pictures show.
- diazamet, on 03/18/2008, -0/+0I think the biggest noticeable difference is the reflections on the GT cars don't quite have enough detail. But damn impressive all the same!
- spenner, on 03/17/2008, -21/+4Typical Sony, release some pretty looking stills and make people think it is in game footage tut tut
- mdaize, on 03/17/2008, -1/+13it is, you can see the hud overlaying the car :P
- spenner, on 03/17/2008, -3/+2Yeah in replay mode though!
- thedinomeister, on 03/17/2008, -2/+2i totally agree with you spenner. as someone who has played all GT games they pull this ***** all the time before the game is released. Once you start the race the graphics turn to ***** and only replay mode do things look better.
- mdaize, on 03/17/2008, -1/+13it is, you can see the hud overlaying the car :P
- ThickGreenPuke, on 03/17/2008, -18/+2my cellphone games have better graphics
- P5ycHo, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1Cool, I also carry a ps3 around everywhere I go.
- DawsonJones, on 03/17/2008, -6/+15Wow! If their wasn't writing on the game shot I couldn't tell the difference.
- greenlight2001, on 03/17/2008, -1/+7Other than the lack of reflections in the game shots.
- Jaliyl, on 03/17/2008, -5/+11Looks better than crysis and makes me proud to have a PS3. However GT5 Prologue is not GT5, its a demo, a demo that costs money. I will wait for the full version.
- Llanowar, on 03/17/2008, -2/+15Then again, cars are a lot easier to make look real than trees/monsters/people/etc.
- nublet, on 03/17/2008, -2/+5orly? let's see you try modeling a car. i'm a 3d modeler and i've modeled several cars before, so believe me, it's not as easy as you think.
- altinnovation, on 03/17/2008, -2/+3Their cars were scanned with some sort of laser technology on the real thing, so most of the work was done for them.
- GliTCH82, on 03/18/2008, -1/+1Yeah it's probably a bigger version of this:
https://www.nextengine.com/indexSecure.htm - samdu, on 03/19/2008, -0/+2According to PD, it takes roughly six man-months to model each car in GT5. Somehow I suspect that "most of their work" has most certainly not been "done for them."

- Llanowar, on 03/17/2008, -2/+4I never said it was. I said easier. Try making a real looking tree with leafs and everything, vs a car.
Both I can't do, but a car will be far easier to learn.

- nublet, on 03/17/2008, -1/+11this "demo" has more content than some so called full games.
- Dracusis, on 03/17/2008, -0/+10A demo with 7 tracks, 70 cars and 16 player online mode.
That's either the biggest demo in the history of computer gaming or you're just a moron.
p.s. I'm leaning towards the latter.- roxya, on 03/18/2008, -2/+1the latter is certainly correct!
- Chainheart, on 03/18/2008, -2/+1I don't think the game would be nearly as pretty after compensating FPS to render countless vegetation.
- BabyWookie, on 03/18/2008, -1/+1Crysis has luxury cars in it? GT5 is going to have large, drive-anywhere levels? Really? Seriously, it makes you proud to own a PS3? That's a little weird.
- Llanowar, on 03/17/2008, -2/+15Then again, cars are a lot easier to make look real than trees/monsters/people/etc.
- blacksteve0, on 03/17/2008, -1/+3Slightly more than amazing.
- solidus636, on 03/17/2008, -3/+10Take the test and see if you can spot which is the real one...
http://generationdreamteam.free.fr/Quizz.html
It's hard to test yourself on these because of the in game menus and stuff...- Dracusis, on 03/17/2008, -2/+5We all saw this on Digg, twice, already.
- JohnDavis730, on 03/17/2008, -4/+6its almost scary how realistic it is
- thedinomeister, on 03/17/2008, -0/+2oh come on....
- pook448, on 03/17/2008, -9/+3Has anyone besides me played the Demo. Cool the game looks great unfortunately it drives terrible. It has pretty much the worst driving dynamics since the original Outrun. Leave it to Sony to release another game that looks great but plays horrible.
- Jaliyl, on 03/17/2008, -1/+9That's what they call realism, it's not fun or easy to pick up, but holy crap is it accurate!
- krische, on 03/17/2008, -0/+6lol, this is actually how cars really handle. Its not like what your used to in games like Need for Speed and whatever. In real life, cars aren't as easy to drive like that. Hence there's a profession for stunt drivers.
- ndnspongebob, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5its not easy to pick up right away, but if you learn, you too will be able to hang
- supersteve, on 03/17/2008, -3/+1who wants to learn while playing videos games?
- hiroyukibatosai, on 03/17/2008, -4/+1this game sucks.
- Trogdor420, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1By 'demo', are you referring to the GT HD Concept from the PSN? GT5 Prologue drives 1000 times better than Concept..... I picked up the import version along with a Logitech G25 racing wheel. IT HANDLES LIKE A DREAM!!! You know not what you say!
- rawrzzz, on 03/17/2008, -3/+68I only wish GT5 had realistic looking trees...
Bottom right corner D:
http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/2105/gt501cd3.p ...- SSCrow, on 03/17/2008, -2/+10I've always felt the same way about that.
GT is like the only game still using Sprites in that way. - RevToTheRedline, on 03/17/2008, -1/+26That image is seriously a WTF moment, all the PS3's processing power, insane car detail, and trees no different than GT1 on PSone? That's a little pathetic.
- thedinomeister, on 03/17/2008, -3/+1HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! That's HORRID!
- slaystench, on 03/17/2008, -0/+9Environments are always the last thing they work on. Well, since the first GT anyway...
- logicalnoise, on 03/17/2008, -1/+5boy does it show in their final product.
- mihkeltt, on 03/17/2008, -1/+4haha, the gtr is last :)

- skmice2, on 03/17/2008, -5/+3Looking really great, as well as its predecessors. The only thing that sucks is that they won't port it to any other platforms (which makes perfect sense from a marketing perspective ... it sucks nevertheless :D )
- Dracusis, on 03/17/2008, -4/+3That's because it wouldn't run on any other platforms, and it'll be a decade before you see PCs fast enough to emulate a PS3 Cell processor.
- GliTCH82, on 03/18/2008, -0/+6Uh, I call *****.
- GliTCH82, on 03/18/2008, -0/+4By the way, when you "port a game" you don't emulate it, you actually make the game work natively on another platform.
1.6 G5 vs. PS3 and I added some Xeon benchmarks they also did. bZip and JPEG seemed like the most common and useful of the benchmarks so here they are. Check out their site for the rest. Geek Patrol (http://www.geekpatrol.ca/2006/11/playstation-3-per ...

So basically in performance the PS3 processor usually isn't going to be as good as a three and a half year old budget G5 processor. The PS3 is probably about equal to a G4 processor at most general tasks. Kind of pathetic after all the hype Sony made about it over a year ago.
It would get totally crushed by a Quad core processor. Think Godzilla vs. Bambi.- escapenguin, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0Not exactly. Geekbench can't fully exploit the PS3 processor and the developer mentioned that at the bottom of the benchmarks.
Quad-cores are beastly though. I just don't think it would be a slaughter-fest.

Also do you guys notice the people in the backgrounds of the pictures? they look crazy real - mrtman, on 03/17/2008, -10/+5That is awesome, I can't believe they figured out how to put photos on a blu-ray disc
- heavystone, on 03/17/2008, -15/+10They do this with every GT release. OOOoohh, Pre-Rendered graphics look pretty...big whoop. Show me in-game. I still bet you cant scratch them.
- krische, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5http://www.gametrailers.com/game/5158.html
- ndnspongebob, on 03/17/2008, -2/+4actually thats how it looks in game, you can download gt5 concept at the playstation store for free and it looks just as beautiful
the game isnt even optimized or anything yet and its runs smooth.- sovietninja, on 03/18/2008, -1/+1What the hell do you mean its not optimized or anything yet. THATS WHAT GT HD CONCEPT WAS. This was made ground up for the PS3 and it shows. The only game that isn't optimized would be games that are ported to the PS3, not software developed from the ground up on the platform. Didn't a bunch of PS3 owners complain that thier version of the Orange Box was crap, yet people with laptops have a great experience?
- samdu, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1Actually, GT:HD Concept was using the GT4 engine with updated textures and models. Hardly what I'd call "optimized" for the PS3.

- aoki4, on 03/17/2008, -6/+1need more antisotropic filtering
- thedinomeister, on 03/17/2008, -2/+7it's spelled "anisotropic"
- SkippyDoorknob, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4Maybe he's opposed to sotropic?
- Dracusis, on 03/17/2008, -1/+3Someone needs a girlfriend, and a dictionary.

- Ub3rL33ch, on 03/17/2008, -10/+4Wait a minute ... the 360 fanboys assured me that the PS3 graphics are *****. This must be a trick!
- TheWorm, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4Nobody said PS3 is incapable of good graphics. There just haven't been very many games that really harness the power yet.
- Ub3rL33ch, on 03/17/2008, -1/+0Yeah, try and change what you said I see. No matter, the truth shall be revealed this year and if not, certainly next year.
- PainToad, on 03/17/2008, -5/+6Umm no, but we did say they we're about on par and the ps3 was very over priced. Digg me down
- Ub3rL33ch, on 03/17/2008, -1/+0I will give it to you that the PS3 is expensive. But it is not, and never was overpriced. Overpriced means you don't get much for what you paid. The PS3 can do so much ***** for the price you pay it's amazing.
- sovietninja, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1Seriously, with the high price of oil and the cold spell over the United States, Sony has been selling more space heaters, i mean Playstation 3s, to heat homes across the United States.

- TheWorm, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4Nobody said PS3 is incapable of good graphics. There just haven't been very many games that really harness the power yet.
- johanrocks, on 03/17/2008, -4/+4It's pretty close, but those are 'photo mode' pics, so they're not what you see when you play. The biggest difference I see is in the actual reflections on the car. They need to be more complex and accurate. Other than that, one more generation, and I think we'll have some photorealistic racing games.
- ndnspongebob, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4actually thats how it looks in game also, go pick up a copy of gt5 concept from the playstation store for free, you'll see its in game.
- nublet, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4there's no photo mode in prologue.
- dsmx, on 03/18/2008, -0/+4Have a look on the second one down and you will clearly see the ingame interface on the screen shot, thus proving your a GT5 hater and don't even have the common decency to actually look at what your posting about.
- thedinomeister, on 03/17/2008, -8/+4graphics always look good in replays. show me the screenshots from real-time racing. I'll bet the frame-rate sucks when there's a bunch of cars on the screen too. I wouldn't be so mean if SONY didn't pull these tactics with every one of their games.
- ndnspongebob, on 03/17/2008, -3/+2actually thats how it looks in game also, go pick up a copy of gt5 concept from the playstation store for free, you'll see its in game.

Lol, PG3 has the same graphics on the 360 and that came out 2 years ago!- Dracusis, on 03/17/2008, -3/+2PGR3 is a childes toy in comparison, I have both systems and like them but but trust me, GT5 is really something else.

- Junkey, on 03/17/2008, -0/+29I hope the game has more colors then red.
- avonwodahs, on 03/17/2008, -0/+14I've heard from an insider source it will also have brown, but lets not get our hopes too high.
- Majjoodi, on 03/18/2008, -2/+1*than
- Frayed_Knot, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1You can have any color you want as long as it's red.
- elambing, on 03/17/2008, -3/+0i like the GT5:P cars better actually
- dinkwhickerson, on 03/17/2008, -2/+1those pictures are beautiful but I don't truly think those are in game I have seen numerous other screens which have been equally impressive but all have aliasing issues. I hope the game is this polished but even the worst pic of gt5 is better than anything I have seen thus far and I can't wait to pick up!
- Pritchard, on 03/17/2008, -1/+5I guess cars must be difficult to render properly. There's reflection and paint properties you have to factor in, as well as the complex, smaller grooves cars have in their frames to achieve better aerodynamics and counter drag.
I still think most 3D models of cars look like liquid paint over a mesh.- raz98, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1There are 2 things to consider when speaking about reflections, first is the reflection material/proprieties of the car, and second is the environment that is reflecting in the material. You can have a very good material, with fresnel reflections but a bad, dull environment and the result overall will not be so good. But in my opinion, those cars are looking very good especially if these are real time.
- phambam, on 03/17/2008, -0/+1Quite impressive. Can't wait to see all the other cars. How many are included in this game?
- supersteve, on 03/17/2008, -4/+23 but it's okay its only a demo
- samdu, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1Hell, the DEMO had(s) more than three cars.
- phinn, on 03/18/2008, -0/+2I think GT5 Prologue i supposed to have about 60. The full GT5 whenever it comes out will have 500+ (who knows exactly)
- supersteve, on 03/17/2008, -4/+23 but it's okay its only a demo
- kinseyincanada, on 03/17/2008, -0/+7I was never a fan of racing sims, i missed the fast based action and fun of arcade style racers, but no one can argue that this game looks amazing.
- punchinelli, on 03/18/2008, -1/+2In other words, you suck at difficult racing games.
- robodork, on 03/17/2008, -3/+1the graphics in the game look better then the graphics in real life. my eyes only see 1080i.
- Kennerk, on 03/17/2008, -2/+1the only problem is the paint and light effects on the first 2 cars.
- sat0shi, on 03/17/2008, -0/+6I think it's hilarious how many people are ***** their pants to try and deny that these screenshots are in-game. If you have to justify your console purchase by bashing on another one for no reason, perhaps you are just sad that you bought the wrong console. Hell, I'll be the first to admit that I'm extremely disappointed with my Wii... So, I bought a PS3 this week and I love it. It's great, and it's everything I want in a game system.
So, come on guys. Man up and admit that you're not satisfied with your current system and go buy a PS3. :)- supersteve, on 03/17/2008, -0/+2I bought a 360 last year and with all the stuff Sony is now doing I have not regretted it once.
- DJDee85, on 03/17/2008, -0/+0Yeah, go buy an HDTV and a PS3...the GT5 prologue demo has been out for a long-ass time and it looks amazing. The real game will only look better.
Or just stick to playing games with graphics that are sub-PS2 quality, and troll DIGG in your spare time
- supersteve, on 03/17/2008, -1/+1i must say this looks great, and this is coming from a sony hater/360 owner
- hiroyukibatosai, on 03/17/2008, -1/+1I know people are gonna get mad, but I have the demo from the Japanese version and it looks nothing like this in game...
- sonicularulus, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5Officer: "Do you know how fast you were going? What made you think you could go that fast?""
